It’s happening to quite a few people, I think we just have to drive more gentle

I've been running these Treal OD gears for a little over a year (in a Vitavon front axle) and the pinion finally broke apart. These are no longer available on their website, I have a feeling these were no quite hardened enough.

I’ve been running stock in the original plastic axles (shimmed) and I’ve not had any bother since. If you watch some of my other SCX6 videos you’ll see I’m not easy on it… it’s been up mountains several times 😃💪🏼
I tried to reach out to Treal but was politely shunned. I was disappointed to say the least

Any advise to not have diff issues? Like driving habits maintenance etc?

100% no.1 shim the diffs if you are running the stock plastic housings..
      No.2 don’t drive it like a 1:10 crawler..
if the wheels get in a bind, just lift the truck and reposition it, the motor has tremendous torque and WILL destroy diffs or housings.
No.3 vent your tyres if running in water, the stock setup has vents in the wheels which allow water to get in but not out again, the added weight of water makes for a huge amount of rotating mass (like a heavy flywheel on an engine) if you drive the wheels fast and try to stop suddenly (which the motor will) the weight of the wet foams will just want to keep turning and may well strip the diff gears.
      Hope this helps dude!! 😃

@@TimsRcsurgery have you had more issues with diffs since this video? Also why do you think the silicone grease is better?
      Thanks

@@epicone2449 no more issues since, but it’s always on the back of my mind that it could happen, so usually drive with a little caution (although lately I’ve been driving like a idiot)
reason for the silicone, it was just similar to the original snot they put in.
I find ordinary grease can fling out and stick to the casing rather than the gears, with the silicone it will always make its way to the lowest point and therefore will always coat the gears 🤷‍♂️
      Just my personal thoughts

It seems too big for a plastic diff housing.

I think you are right, next upgrade alloy axle housings???

I wouldn’t rull it out, I absolutely love it to be honest!!
Just need to treat it with respect, like a 1:1 vehicle, you wouldn’t drive a real car like we do and expect it to survive. We are spoiled with the 1/10 scale stuff. I’ll let you have a go, and learn from my mistakes…..
