This might be the first time I've loved both the original version of a story and the adaptation equally. They did such a good job telling it in a different medium.
Probably because the people who first created the story were so heavily involved in the adaptation! It’s a great way to stay true to the characters and the story.
In case anyone was confused, I'll spell out the differences. Scanlan & Vax managed to each find their own way out of the inside of the dragon. Grog had his axe stuck in the hide of the dragon & was holding on to his Chain of Returning. Grog managed at one point to climb up the chain & grab onto the dragon but failed a skill check & was knocked back down the chain. Then the barrel roll dislodged the axe & Grog was falling. Grog was higher in the air, Scanlan was in the middle, and Vax was lower. Scanlan moved to catch Grog in Bigby's Hand (they call it Scanlan's Hand in the show as Bigby's Hand is trademarked), then polymorphed Grog into a giant eagle (losing concentration of Bigby's Hand), and they flew down to catch Vax. Missing from this edit is also that Keyleth was concentrating on a Gate stone that would bamf her over to Vax, who was carrying the paired Gate stone. After Vax was caught, Keyleth bamfed over to Vax, but then started to fall as she was now quite high in the air. She was also wild shaped as an Earth Elemental during this. As she fell to the ground as an Earth Elemental, Marisha calculated that she could easily take the fall damage. The fall damage going to her wild shape's hit points, and once that is to 0, she reverts to her normal half-elf form, with the same amount of hit points she had before she wild shaped. Marisha put some pizzaz on it and had the Earth Elemental form of Keyleth light up her hands on fire and became basically a giant fire rock hurtling to the ground. A "Key-teor" as she said it. Then Grog as the giant eagle brought Vax and Scanlan down on the ground while Pike, Vex, and Percy eventually caught up. So in the campaign, Vax didn't get wings during this episode and Grog didn't crash into the ground. Vax may or may not have gotten wings at a later moment & the writers might or might not have moved that moment to this point in the narrative as it works better here than where it might or might not have happened in the campaign.
Seems she gets them as part of her Aramente trials, since she hadn't done any when the series started they need to fit her earth trial in somewhere new. My theory is that Vorugal will be at Terrah instead of Draconia and her trial will incorporated into that. The ship where Keyteor originally happened will probably come before that (from the clips released lewse so far they are hot on the trail), but I'm sure they can find something else smashable later
Can't wait liked and subscribed!!! Side note. This world is exandria it is from the mind of Matt Mercer created by him from his mind. The main cast is: Matt Mercer(DM), Laura Bailey(Vex, Ranger), Travis Willingham(Grog, Barbarian), Liam Obrian(Vax, Rogue), Sam Riegal(Scanlan,Bard), Ashley Johnson(Pike,Cleric), Marisha Ray(Keyleth, Druid), and Taliesin Jaffe(Percy, Gunslinger) anything else you have to watch!! Also season 3 trailer is up!!
Both were great but I really missed Keyteor. I know the Earth trial will be next season, so I’m assuming it’s then that she will get her Earth elemental form and hopefully we get to see a keyteor moment.
Season 3 is probably going to feature Vax becoming an undead revenant and lose all of the things that made him mortal one by one.By the time the series is over, all the moments that made us cry at the table are going to be amplified times 1000.

My headcanon is that the actual play is what really happened, and the show is Scanlan's retelling of the story.

69th like, just thought I had to point that out. Also thank you so much for your work, you beautiful person.
Which episode in the original campaign does Vax get his wings?

@pardox28 thank you!!!
This was so great to watch!!! Love every minute of it. For both the actual game and this series scene.
I love the " i have a broom and you get fucking wings" lmao
These are always so interesting to watch - in particular, how much longer the tabletop segments are for each thing than the animated segments are.
the final battle against umbrasyl litterally took 4h in the campaign 😆
Thank you! I love these comparisons! I haven’t watched campaign 1 all the way yet, but that’s the goal. These get me excited to continue.
this was brilliant, thank you so muuuuch🥰
Loved this and so can't wait for Season 3 next month!
I wonder if they'll ever introduce Keyleth's other elemental forms. I really want that rock+fire+plumet=Keyteor moment. Maybe to sink a ship.
My husband and I were watching the trailer for season 3 a few days ago and agreed that the top thing we're hoping to see in season 3 is Keyteor.

Both versions are great, I'm glad the animated version had to make changes. It's Vox Machina...but a little different.😊

Yes I saw the s3 trailer today, I changed tomorrows short edit because of it:) There are many playlists you can find on my channel, lots to watch.
I dig the Midnight Syndicate music in the background.
This makes me miss my old D&D games. It would be so amazing to be a part of these.
Thank you!!
Why is it that everytime scanlan has an idea in the original, they need to make it someone else's idea in the show ?
Wasn't getting inside the dragon Vax's idea originally? Because that one was given to Scanlan in the show...
Watching Vax get his wings had me absolutely losing my mind in all the right ways
Scanlands haaaaaand..... 😂😂😂😂
