So a CR 12 monster is generally scaled for a (4-6) group of level 12 Players. The CR [number] can go *HIGHER* than (level) 20, for scaling Epic-tier adversaries, such as arch-devils, demon princes, elemental lords, ancient eldritch horrors, a god's physically-manifested avatar, etc. 2.) *_Critical Role Scaling_** --* So with the *[CR 1x71 - "Vorugal"]* play-session, and the *[LoVM 3x05 - "The Frigid Wastes"]* episode, the scaling is... - a.) It is worse than that. Matt has the habbit of increasing creature hp to allow them to survive more than one round against 7 players. So where a normal ancient white dragon has 333 hp, Vorugal had 855.

I would have loved to have seen a divine intervention. I know they’re doing something different with Pike for this season because she actually wasn’t there for a while, but it would have been SO DOPE to see Kima call down the platinum dragon to absolutely wreck Vorgal.
Thank you! I haven’t caught up with Campaign 1 yet so it was a surprise to see everything I animation. I thought it was just for the show with Yenk vs Vorugal. It was awesome to see that that actually happened in stream. 😂
I'm gonna be honest, the stream was cool but the TV show adaptation was much more epic than I had anticipated. It might be up there with The Killbox battle
Man, they are really taking the shit on Scanlan and making him a joke when he was MVP. Like the mansion scene, for example. Damn. The compilation amazing as usual.
It is actually a part of his character, I won't say more if you don't actually know the tabletop story, but there IS a reason (and legit narrative purpose) for him being treated that way.
@tristanmilner9511 the bard's lament hit so hard precisely because of how much of an MVP he was. In here, he is useful, but he isn't making a huge difference either.
All different takes on Scanlan I think come from Sam Riegel. Him and Travis are the main writers for the show, so I think the way Scanlan is portrayed is like that, because Sam Riegel want him to be portrayed like that. Not that I don't agree with seeing a difference.
i love that you do this for the people who haven't watch the stream, but why not add Matt picture in there too? I get the whole focusing on Vox Machina, but watching what Matt does is the other half of why it's so entertaining.
@CruciferWarden he was never a follower of asmodeus. He was a man who believed and had his oath dedicated to himself. He was tricked into becoming the champion of asmodeus he thought he could teach a god. His pride and hubris lead to his fate. Being a follower of vecna who make sense
I really wanted to see Pike's Divine Intervention in the animated series. I was pretty disappointed they didnt include it, but overall the fight was still cool.
It’s probably just an oversight from them having to condense so much stuff into only 12 episodes, combining Yenk vs Vorgal with the trip to hell rather than them being seperate things. But it is feasible Yenk was under the effects of dominate monster or planar binding/summon greater demon, or seeing how Zerxes is now a follower of the whispered one it could be that Yenk also follows them and are effectively on the same side now.
i was a little upset that they made pike seem like she was loosing faith in her deity in the animated series when this encounter was the first time pikes divine intervention hit which was nuts
Wow, they changed so much, I had no idea. That's... kinda disappointing, honestly. Still love the show but I'm really curious why they decided to leave out the divine intervention and give Kima a much more prominent role in the fight
They keep taking away scanlans clever moments, moments. What does Scanlan have left? I feel like people watching the show for the first time, are not going to get to see Scanlan as clever as we all see him.
I think that is because Sam Riegel doesn't see Scanlan as, as clever as we see him. Maybe it's because Sam Riegel is really clever, and so would do clever things, so we assumed it is part of Scanlans character when he does something smart, but that is not how Sam himself sees it..? I don't know.. I have just noticed that when Sam talks about Scanlan as a character he often describes him much more like a character failing upwards, kind of. Never as clever or strategic, wich he sometimes was in the campaign, but I think maybe that's because that part was just Sam.. In any case the changes to Scanlans character in the show must be Sam Riegels own decisions. Him and Travis are main writers on the show after all..
@@TheFashionablyDepressedBard I wouldn’t be surprised if Sam was underplaying his own character, but the proof is in the pudding. The videos of the live show have Scanlan making so many important decisions that affect the entire outcome of the show. At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if they change Scanlan‘s last and final cool moment. Regardless, in this episode, I was really hoping that Scanlan would at least get to charm yank. I figured he might not get the summon yank. But this was overall disappointing to me.
Because the animated show depicts Scanlan the way Sam Riegel always imagined him, instead of how we saw him in the live show due to Riegels genius in the game
two things: Why would Zerxus be working for Vecna? and why the hell would they cut out the part where Pike has the Everlight punch a dragon in the face?
If I had to guess, they probably want the divine intervention to come at the end of Pike's current arc. Zerxus had her question her faith, so a divine intervention now would not make sense, and also would kinda have normies wonder why she doesn't do it all the time. Even a hand-wavey explanation about not being able to do it too often wouldn't be enough, since this is quite literally a Deus Ex Machina. The powers of the character have been greatly downgraded to fit the show format, so it's a bit too OP. My guess is, Pike is going to question her faith to a point where she questions the Everlight, maybe even has a face to face with her, which will then lead to the divine intervention being used against Thordak. We'll see though, I might be wrong.
The dialogue writing in this episode was so bad I had to turn it off twice before I could finish it. I wanted to like it. But it was so cringingly on the nose and bad.

It was short but Luis was so good as Zerxes
His voiced disappeared in Zerxes, for me that's perfection, when you have to check if it's really that actor behind the voice
