Yeah true. I usually don't do more cleaning than what's necessary for customers. Most don't keep up with cleaning and would rather not pay me to clean just to repair their mowers.
What needs to happen on these mowers killed by mice is a hole drilled into the engine shroud of 3/4 inch as a tattletail hole for the owner to see if mice have built a nest under the shroud. This serves two purposes. 1. The owner can see the nest. 2. Mice having a hole above it's potential nest will be less likely to nest there since rain can fall into it's nest center. The owner might then need to check with a flashlight to check for mice intrusion but would be obvious if in a normal spot.
Thats not a bad idea as long as they would look once and awhile. Usually there is signs like mouse nest pieces coming out of the spark plug areas though. Alot of people just don't pay attention to anything as long as they can turn the key and go they don't check anything.
You don’t want to start drilling holes in the blower shroud unless you have a plug to cover them with while the engine is running. Any open holes will disrupt and lessen the flow of air around the engine causing the same problem you are trying to correct. It’s not that hard to just look with a flashlight through the existing openings in the airbox and around the spark plugs.
Don’t clean out the mice nest, it will hurt the mechanic shop bussiness Leave them so the engine will fail 😮 Let them learn to hard way since they are too lazy to clean it out 😢
It’s just smart to remove cover and pressure wash engine every spring and once during season 😊😊😊
Should clean out under plastic covers every spring but we make lots of money because people are lazy 😊😊😊😊
