Bronco Raptor is really designed for high speed baja style off roading. There is no chance the wrangler could handle high speed whoops like the bronco can. It's all about what you want to do. Rocks go with the wrangler, high speed desert running Bronco Raptor.
Yeah, too much unsprung weight on the Wranglers. You need serious shocks. Even if you had great shocks , solid axles are more prone to bump steer than IFS (or IFS + IRS) . Just not the right properties for going fast. Independent suspension solves so many issues . Wheel hop , axle wrap , bump steer, better contact patch under load due to camber gain , etc.
I think a longer wheel base pickup probably does even better than the Raptor Bronco for high speed desert runs. Something like Ranger Raptor, F150 Raptor, or the Colorado Bison. I tend to think nothing beats the wrangler for slow technical trails.
Yes, you are right. The raptor is a rally car with little bit of goodies put together to tackle certain or to be said some basic amount of road obstacles(not including the raptors independent sus, they are something way awesome). I don't know why people put these two vehicles in a similar category. The rubicon is a complete serious off-roader
I have test driven both vehicles. For extreme off roading, nothing is going to beat the 392. That being said, these vehicles will be used 99% as daily drivers. They will be the coolest looking vehicles in the school drop off lane. 😂. For a daily driver, the Bronco is the best option. For me, it was more roomy, smoother ride, could still accelerate very quickly when needed (not as fast as 392).
I find the Braptor as a whole package. It can do things that the 392 can do, got all the features and it can be a daily too. It's missing the V8 but is that a deal breaker? Hell NO.
For slow rock crawling and difficult trails more power doesn't help much at all does it. You can shift down into low range and have tons of torque to get up most things even with a small engine. My guess is the weight savings of having the pentastar or the 2.0T probably has a performance advantage.
The minute that you change anything on a stock vehicle but ESPECIALLY the tire height and width, it's no longer a valid comparison of the two vehicles. You put exceptionally different tires than factory onto your Jeep which will drastically change its capabilities in off road situations.
Anyone that buys the Jeep Rubicon 392 that intends to use it will immediately put 37s on it. The Raptor is already on 37s. Both on factory suspension. One is on 38s and one is on 37s the comparison doesn’t get any better for a real world test haha
Great video. Love the comparison. I’ve got a 21 wrangler Rubicon with a manual transmission. Trails look like the ones around here. I’m in West Virginia. Where are you from?
@@GodspeedZRZ you kept the stock tires on the Raptor and put much beefier mud terrains on the Jeep. They were also way wider, giving you a larger contact patch and therefore more grip on hard rocks. You intentionally altered the comparison in the Jeep's favor. Give the Raptor 39 MTs, they'll fit and make it even with the Jeep in the tread department.
@@russiaKGB wife's can't handle Bronco Raptors they are huge and a beast of a vehicle. Regular bronco goes to the wife and all Jeeps but the Raptor goes to the most masculine person in the household 😂. No way I'm letting my wife drive the Raptor while dwarfing my jeep when we park next to each other. 😂
I always think 22 psi is ideal unless you REALLY need lower. 22 psi is the lowest "official" pressure on the metric load inflation tables (although those are probably LT tires) , just knowing that at least in some special condition (mazda miata territory) 22 psi might stand a chance of keeping a tire from de beading is comforting. Even though its not a metric tire (probably) 22 psi on the bead is 22 psi on the bead.
@@unblasted7905 bead locks sure- run whatever PSI you want, basically. It depends on the tire too. Of course if you have beadlocks , I would assume strong tires too. My Cooper AT3 4s don't have much lug on on the sidewalls , so if I run under 22 , or even if Im at 22 sometimes, I'll slip in the mud when the sidewall touches the ground on a side hill , etc. So, for mild all terrains without much side lug , I don't recommend low pressure unless you're on flat land , with nothing sharp, and you're stuck. Sidewall lugs are even more important with solid axles because solid axles don't gain camber under load and are MORE likely to put a sidewall on the ground.
Love the Wrangler. The Bronco just doesn't do it for me. I assume the doors and roof come off the Bronco? You could do a video comparing taking doors and roof off Bronco vs. Jeep. Time, tools, number of people, that sort of stuff. I haven't seen that yet on youtube.
Not a fair comparison since the Raptor is not tuned and has smaller tires. It would be nice to compare the disconeted bar suspension with the rigid axle in a fairer comparison.
How do you like owning both of them? Wife is tired of having to baby her Taycan turbo and was thinking of getting her a Bronco Raptor. She is used to be able to run over curbs and etc in her old jeep. Have a 392XR myself so not sure how much sense it makes to have two similar vehicles.
I really like it. They haver very similar capabilities and occupy the same segment in the market but they are still very different! I love them both for different reasons!
@@GodspeedZRZ I think the Bronco is nice but I’ve always been a Jeep guy! I’m 73 years old and my first Jeep was a CJ 5 boy was that primitive compared to my 2020 Rubicon Unlimited!!!
Well, I’ve been a “jeep guy” myself, through a few iterations and a couple of decades. Being open minded and genuinely curious….i tried out these new broncos. Driving them all hard, for extended periods….What I’ll say is that the normal broncos are just ok, would still rather a comparable jeep. But this raptor version is what I always dreamed I was driving w any jeep or other 4x4. Real world use, the northeastern roads here……pot holes that would make me slow down in my wrangle to about 5-10 mph, I was doing highway speeds. It’s ridiculous. As far as I’m concerned, apart from red light to red light, you can drive the raptor much faster than a 392. The chassis balance, stability and handling are just so much better. It’s a terrific rig. The regular ones, are not special like this thing is.
I'd take the Bronco Raptor over that Jeep in a heartbeat! I already own a 2 door Bronco with the Sasquatch package and it is a little BEAST off road! Can't even imagine how good the Bronco Raptor is with the additional suspension upgrades and wider stance etc!
I love watching that Bronco wheel but JL392 holds people’s attention more, and makes obstacles look easier than they are. You should get some better suspension on the JL392 maybe some coil overs and 37inch by 12.50s AND Then! Start to mod the Braptor. That’s what I’d like to see

So the v8 argument is null as of this year, since neither offer one

To be fair you need to do a comparison of a stock 392 and the Braptor. The small tires on the 392 might make a difference off road.
