IFit NordicTrack not working | Stuck on IFIT screen | Black Screen | Help

  • issues with the iFit Nordic track studio bike. it keeps on getting stuck at the iFit screen and the blank screen. it doesn't go beyond that
    tried the paper clip option but it didn't help out.
    Reese out to the iFit customer service representative but they also couldn't figure it out.
    stuck on this one as I hardly use this one for 3 months.
    it's a frustrating experience.

    I did a little digging and saw someone filed a class action lawsuit on January 20th. I hope we all get the justice we deserve, because this truly sucks.

      I agree time to get a class action lawsuit to be opened they left a lot of people with machine that can't be updated and turns into basically a useless machine. They don't want to even help people or return a phone call.

    I’m a tech for workout equipment and have seen this issue many times. There a couple reasons this may be happening and what the solution is. 1. Just do a quick pinhole reset in the machine. Somehow they get stuck in between and update and restarting it fixes it. 2. There’s an issue with your wife or IP address and your machine is freezing due to it. Reset your router and modem, unplug your machine for 1 minute, plug it back in and do a pinhole reset. If none of this works unfortunately you need a new console because for whatever reason there’s an software update that’s been breaking consoles. Lot of if not most of the consoles built during covid are complete piles of shit because there was little to no quality control during its peak year and unfortunately the only thing left to do is to replace the console. Hope this helps at least one person !

      @@k1llsw1tch65Hey, I don’t have a pinhole on my NTL90116. I’ve tried multiple resets and only once it cycled through the android startup. It gets stuck on ‘Get Started’ screen, and then goes black. Totally at a loss. Have a wired connection into the back of tablet for update, but no luck

      @@cdnmmaguy unfortunately if you don’t have a pinhole to do a reset then you have to replace the console. I’ve had to replace so many with the same issue and it’s unfortunate but it’s the only solution.

    Another stuck on the Ifit screen. When I try the pinhole reset i get the API #3 not support and a flashing of some error picture. It was absolutely caused by their latest update getting pushed out. My machine is a H7 HIIT Elliptical for reference.

    Proform treadmill bricked for me too. No matter how long or which format I press the reset button works. It just loops if the reset button is pressed in.

    I have a ProForm Performance 400i Treadmill. The issue started with an update that was dropped, I believe, about 2 weeks ago. First, my screen was stuck at iFit. I tried their factory reset instructions (the paper clip drill), and it did restart, however, I ran into another issue where I could see a black screen with a message that read "Supported API:3" that was on loop. I let it run for a while, after about 12 hours or so, I just got a completely dark screen. No activity. Nothing even when I unplug and repower the treadmill. I have tried every single way to contact ProForm and iFit, but everything in vain. I acknowledge that my warranty has expired, but I just cannot believe that it is so challenging to even get to their Support team and explain your issue. Jeez! I have checked everything from my end - the motor is fine (the resistance reading on a multimeter looked good). I can also hear the click of the speaker when you plug the socket back on. I think it has to be something with the console. Unfortunately, the consoles aren't available, so, I am kinda stuck at the moment. Hoping that I can get in touch with either ProForm or iFit and someone would be able to help me procure a console. I'll update once I have more information. Thanks, Ram, for the video. I had no idea so many of the folks are experiencing the same issue.

    Same issue. They are replacing the console for me. I tried the reset but it blacked out the screen altogether. I wish they'd just stop updates. I don't use iFit. It's a treadmill. What is there to update? My next one will not be connected to the internet.

    Ours recently went into the white screen loop also. I've tried everything. The machine is ripped apart, I've tested every connection. Customer service has failed to respond.

    Okay how do we get this class action started. Only used my treadmill 4 times. Went to use it today and it was stuck on the logo. Did a reset got through the update and now the darn thing won’t turn on at all. Customer service says it has nothing to do with the update and I need a new controller.

    Same issue. Was able to get into privledge mode, then it pushed an update and now it is bricked and can't get it to even reset. Why isn't there a class action on this?

    I have an Exp7i treadmill. My reset button was very difficult to find. It is located on the left side adjacent to the 0% Grade button in the back panel of the display near where the front and back come together. You will know when you have pressed it correctly when a volume slider control appears at the top of the screen. I was able to get the unit to reset, but it still goes back to the same problem of "iFit Retry".

      There is a fix to this problem. I contacted NordicTrack sales and JJ helped me get through the update process. No replacement controller required.

      @@randykane474 The support tech took me into privileged mode in the display which required 10 quick taps on a blank portion of the screen, followed by a 6 second wait, then 10 more taps. Once in there he determined that the previous install had failed. We corrected the date and time settings of the display. Then he sent an update file to my treadmill. We installed that update and then he pushed another which I manually installed. I powered the unit down and powered it up again. It then began to function.
      I was able to get in contact with support in less than 15 minutes and the fix took another 15 minutes with the tech, JJ.

    We have the same problem now - just started a couple of days ago - not great going into the New Year 2023!!! If we figure anything out we’ll put it here. What a pain - not a good design by #nordictrack and #ifit!!!

    Had the same issue for the past few months also. Tried factory reset no joy. Sent tech support videos and detailed description of the issue. No real solutions or advice offered. Requested local technical support/technician contact to come out and investigate as phone support is useless. Waiting for available slot.

    Not an ideal solution, but I was able to unbrick mine by blocking its internet access with my router’s app and then doing the paper clip reset process. My router’s iPhone app lets me block specific devices from accessing the internet, so I blocked the treadmill, then unplugged it, held the paper clip in, and reconnected the power and kept holding the paper clip past the initial iFIT splash screen until I got a screen that said “erasing.” Once that process finished, my treadmill had been factory reset and I just pressed “Skip” on all of the iFIT prompts and use it in manual mode.

      @@msears101 thanks for your message. I ended up complaining and getting through to customer support. After trying to troubleshoot over the phone, his conclusion was to send a new console. I'll have to try and install it vs having a tech do it for $160

      Wow I have the same one and it’s completely dead now. The screen completely blacked out. I’ve only have mine for 2 years and unfortunately the warranty is done.

      @@kevinher2814 I think the manufacturer’s warranty for parts is 5 years. I never purchased anymore warranties besides what came with it, and parts are covered for 5 years. If you have your owners manual, mine said on the back.

      I thought the same thing - why is 2 and 3 year old equipment failing, due to an update THEY pushed? you should be able to reimagine the tablet on these machines if need be, or just replace them easily when/if they become to of date. my next fitness equipment will not have a tablet, wifi or anything like this. too many things too go wrong and too expensive to fix. I just want my treadmill to be a treadmill.

    i am having the same issue as well with the 2.5 chp c700. It is very frustrating. It cost a lot too. When i reach out, the online tech wants my card number for $1 to assist as well. I am not doing that.

      @@msears101 I’ll go try that right this second. Did you hold it down and then turn it off and on and then something new happened? Or just hold it down while it’s on? About how long are you talking? I’ve got it to do something new. Instead of the white iFit screen it’s a different black screen that has an error message. It will loop off and on like that until I turn it off, and then if I’m not holding the reset button I get the iFit screen. So I guess I’ve seen it not work in two different ways.

      @@JR123JR8 I was only holding it until the screen turned on. But I needed to hold it down for like 20 seconds longer until a new screen that popped up and said erasing, which was scary, but it worked. I am back in business.

      @@msears101 I went tried it again with no luck. I held it literally for around 3 minutes after I shutting it off and turning it back on. When I found it, it was on the white iFit screen. When I held the reset button and turned it off and then back on, it was the iFit screen before briefly flashing a black screen they said API: 3. And then very briefly flashing a black screen that said no command. It switched between those 2 over and over. I believe it will keep doing that until powering off again, and if I don’t hold the reset button when powering on again, it will boot up to the white iFit screen again and sit there. I’m glad you got your working. Which model is it? I have the commercial 1750.

    I had the same problem I posted on the Proform facebook page and got a fast response. Called service and after they confirmed it unrepairable. I emailed a picture of it and had a new one sent to my house in 2 weeks. I just have to take the whole thing apart to replace it.

    My nordic track treadmill 1750 ive had for 2 yrs ifit tablet crashed, stuck on white IFIT screen, was told they need to replace IOS system, however i cannot get anyone to tell me when this will ship, its been 2 weeks now, online chat ignored my request. very frustrating, apparently we cannot use the treadmill without the tablet.

      @@kattick87 it was about 40-50 seconds total. I just held it down until it said "erasing" .... I am pretty sure they are all different. I would power it off. Hold down the button until something different happens. I would make sure the button is already being held down when you turn on the power.

    This just happened to me today. There was a message that there was a software update last night and my screen was different. Today, it is stuck on the ifit screen. I tried to factory reset like all of you with no luck. I have been waiting for a chat. No luck.

      How long are we talking for holding down longer?

      @@emilyryan3817 around 60 seconds. I held it down before it was powered on, and held it down until something different happened (compared to normal restart). The other tip I have is that when I was pressing the button, I had to move the paper clip around in the hole until I could find the button AND then feel it "click" when I pressed. Good luck.

      @@babakiani mine failed again. And it broke for good. Mine is under warranty/service plan and they are shipping out a new one. I am not sure how much the tablet costs, but it might be worth while to find out how much it costs - it might be better than waiting for a class action lawsuit to finish. The tablet is easily replaceable.

      I think this company only wants to sell machines and does not care about support. I called from Trinidad and spent 26 minutes on the phone at .$2.00aminute. Eventually the guy who was unable to understand how to write an email address told me he was going to update the tread mill remotely never came back on the phone. Someone else picked up the phone and initiated the very same inquiries as the former.
      I lost all hope and had to put down the phone. These people are the face of the company; they are absolutely not trained to answer the phone. It is an embarrassment to Nordic track to have these people answer the phone. My machine is absolutely new as it has only been used by me for one hour every other day for two years. Is that all that I can get from a NordicTrack commercial 1750.????

    Norditrack Commerical 2450 treadmill with the exact same problem. Just started a week ago. Can’t get any help from norditrack/ifit.

      I think I fixed it now, first find the little bottom for the reset, on the top or the side of the machine, push it with a needle and keep it push while you turn of the machine, turn the machine on and when you see the screen is on release the reset bottom, that's gonna do it

      I did the reset now it's stuck on erasing. What garbage. The fan never worked. I would not recommend this machine.

    I have a C1750 treadmill that's 4 years old and about 7 days ago I had an update pop up on the screen and I ignored it to start my workout right away and the machine (tablet) restarted and it went into iFit loop mode and I started the pinhole to restart everything then the screen started going black and never came back. This is completely on iFit pushing out updates and not standing behind their product support and passing the cost to the consumers to fix it, I'll never buy another treadmill that relies strictly on a tablet to interface especially from iFit NordicTrack. Spending $600 to fix it is I guess is my only option for now, I paid over $1800 for it so, I third to fix it sucks.

I held it down longer until something different happened, and it worked. So try it again, hold down the reset button with a paper clip and hold it down until something NEW happens.

      I finally contacted iFit today about my 600i treadmill being stuck on the iFit screen. I sent the rep two screenshots of the logo being stuck and the API3 message I get when I try to reset it with a paperclip. They are sending me a new console for free because its their fault according to the rep there is no recovery method when this occurs. My extended warranty ended last year and that was no problem. The only bad thing is the console is 2 months backordered.

    I think I figured it out. Mine just went out the same way. So the deal is to keep holding on to the reset hole even after unplugging and plugging it back into the outlet. Hold on to the reset button till a screen shows up saying upgrading or something like that then you can release the hole and it should be starting over again. Hopefully that should help.

      I think there are some that are bricked in a way that can’t be fixed with that method. I got ahold of NordicTrack, and they are sending a new console out, and it wasn’t too much trouble to convince them it was broken. I think they have been getting several warranty claims about this issue.

    So I have a iFit Nordictrack Treadmill - if the pinhole reset fails, the only fix is to replace the console. I worked with iFit and tried multiple resets, router resets, etc. all troubleshooting failed. I got them to schedule a local tech. Long story short I sent the local technician a email copy of the video, iFit Loop (similar to this video), and they asked how confident I was that I got the pinhole reset correct. So long story short they said unfortunately there is no current fix for this issue, if troubleshooting fails you have to replace the console. Out of warranty it's about $160 for the tech visit, and for my treadmill it is about $400 for the part. I'm grateful that the tech called me first, since now the $160 I already paid will go towards the install of the new console, instead of having to pay it for them to come onsite and tell me the same thing. So frustrating I know its an update iFit pushed that broke this, as its 100% a software issue. This shouldn't fail after just 3 years!!! and the cost is 1/2 the cost of a new model, I paid $1200 3 years ago for my treadmill and now I'm paying almost $600 to fix it! Oh an the part is out of stock so it could be up to 2 months of waiting....... I have fitness equipment to work out. So annoying! Also iFit customer service is kind of awful. I got them to push my ticket though in an hour on the phone but I was very matter of fact and said escalate my issue, this isn't working, I don't care I'm out of warranty I want a tech to come even if I have to pay. I think in total I was on the phone with iFit for less than an hour and had the work order for a technician submitted. I've heard customer service will trouble shoot with you for days or weeks if you don't just cut though the BS.

      @@Shann0nR43 sorry my fix did not work. What happened with mine was exactly like this video. What fixed it for me was sampling holding it down for 50 seconds. One thing that MIGHT help is I have to fish around my hole to find the button, and when I did I could feel it clicking and being pressed. I made sure I had a good hold on the button before it was plugged back in. I am still under warranty. I am going open a case and get this thing replaced so that I have more time before it fails completely. good luck.

    I have experienced the same problem. I was stuck without activating the treadmill for 24 hours. I called customer service which they’re useless. I tried to chat but I was totally ignored. I called and was place on hold for hours without any solution. I was able to speak with an agent and that agent tried to fix it from remote but it was not successful. I was told the problem was escalated and someone will contact me. No one contacted me and then I had to send them a couple emails requesting refund. I got my refund but I have a big garbage in my parking garage. I feel like the company is hiding a secret about the 1750 commercial treadmill.

    Add me to the list - I was in a constant IFIT loop and then I was able to get to safe mode somehow and deleted the ifit app thinking I could just use it manually until I could get help. Unfortuately everything seems to work with the IFIT app. I dont have a reset hole because I have a usb port - Elliptical Elite 10.9 I hope it gets fixed soon. :(

      Tell them to escalate your issue, you want a technician to come onsite. I was very pushy and got them to schedule someone. Also on the work order they send via email, there is link with additional details for the tech visit. I clicked the info and easily located a phone # and email address. They were very easy to get into contact with, and were able to help me talk though my issue. They are not affiliated with iFit, but approved vendor to do repairs on their equipment. Long story short I still have to get a new console . . . ugh!

    I was turning on/off and trying reset sequence every couple days to see if I would get lucky but now the screen just stays black, so somehow got worse. Ifit says they may have a shipment in late Feb and then another 4-6 weeks for quality check. Then another few weeks for shipping. But no guarantees that I will be one of the lucky few that will get one from the feb shipment. So maybe in 6-12 months. Officially one of the worst companies to deal with

    My Proform 600i started about 3 weeks ago and this reset isn't working for me either. I get white screen with flashes od api something in the lower screen. What a waste of money time and all that. These treadmills are not cheap and are truly JUNK.

      I am happy to report that Proform/iFit did send me a new tablet 4/3/23 and a technician came to install my new tablet today which took about 25 minutes. I just setup my wi-fi and iFit account and all is working just fine. I was not charged anything with my product being out of warranty. I suggest others call in to report the problem and get a fix to your issue.

    Just happening to me today!! WTF?? Factory resent didn’t work then the “technician” on the phone told me to tap the screen 15 times when the iFit symbol comes on the screen. Strange, that technical trick didn’t work!? And I felt like a moron doing it. Been on hold for over an hour! They need to get a new soundtrack, this music sucks.

      If you have a commercial 1750, it’s up near the 15% incline button on the top left. It’s up on the top and a little to the right of the button. It didn’t help though. I cycled it a few times and just got it to go into another loop. Maybe you’ll have different results.

    I am having the same problem! Beyond frustrating you can not get anyone to help! I’ve been on hold with customer service for 50 minutes now. I’m sure it will be disconnected soon. This started 2 weeks ago and with the holidays this was my first change to call about it. I am about to go on twitters,Facebook and instagram to let everyone know that you cannot get any help so don’t buy this treadmill. Help if anyone knows how to fix this!!!

      I am not sure if your treadmill is totally fried, but just checking - did you try the factory reset? It has worked for some (read some posts on Reddit), however, for some - like myself, no luck! I just cannot believe that they broke the treadmill with their own update! So frustrating.

      @@SoniaAgnew-ph1xh Oh no 😞 If the factory reset didn't work, then I am afraid that you are in the same boat as I am. Let's check one more thing (and these are the things I did to ensure everything was alright before zeroing in on the fact that the console is fried, and therefore, the treadmill, too).
      1. Fold the treadmill (the way you would do to save space).
      2. Make sure the machine is powered on (plugged into the socket + the switch on the machine is set to on/reset).
      3. Once folded, and the running belt is upright, please check the bottom right corner (basically you'll be peeking through the little gap into the treadmill's motor control board), and see if you are able to notice a solid green LED. If your green LED is lit up, then at least the motor control board is good.
      Once I confirmed the above for me, I took apart the console, and checked that board as well. The power supply, and the connections did look good, however, nothing showed up when I powered the machine back on. That's when I realized something is really wrong the console's control board. Since the tablet is embedded to the board, I wasn't even able to hook it up elsewhere and access it via Android's Recovery mode. All in vain!
      I was on hold for 4.5 hours, but I was finally was able to reach iFit Support today. They told me that since my warranty expired, the only option I had was to purchase a new console. The new console will cost you around $400.00 including shipping and taxes. And this console is for the model I have (ProForm Performance 400i). It is crazy. We are paying for a new console because there is some bug in iFit's software. I really don't get it, but I was told it is what it is. It's sad, but unfortunately, no other option.

      @@Shann0nR43 yep, you need to go through the agony of removing all screws and installing the new console in. I would still be fine with that, but the console would then be 75% of the original cost I paid for the treadmill. Not worth it!
