The skinny necked bottles are amazing, running and mixing of the glazes has worked out perfect and enhances what were already beautiful vases even before firing. Of course I am a bit biased towards skinny necks in the first place anyway :)
Great "all round" kiln results that I'm sure you will be pleased with.
Don't beat yourself up about those platter bowls Matt, even though not as you wanted they are still beautiful bowls and someone will love and buy them. I'm sure you always have a "pan b" to compensate for failed items :)

Wow! I love the triple glaze platter bowl, amazing result and I agree that that `one` pot is worth the whole glaze firing :)
Did the pots you forgot to clean the bottoms of affect the shelves? that would be my main concern BUT maybe you use some kind of kiln wash to protect your shelves?
Such a shame about that really large platter oxidising on one side, especially as it was an oder! but a very nice bowl all the same Matt.
My favs are still the "skinny necked bottles" BUT also I love the way the face mugs and vases turned out. Overall Matt you `surely` must be delighted with this kiln load :)
Thanks for showing us and taking the time to video your work.

Matthew, thanks for sharing another wonderful load!
Wilbur, Cecil, and Rufus helped bring your spirits back up a wee bit.
Grand finishing off with the wee critters who look really neat.....ask your daughter to make sure she lets us see them after painting.
    Stay well with the family!

LOL! The oversized mugs on your second shelf remind me of a restaurant we used to have here in Iowa (Des Moines, actually) called Mondos have gave one HUGE portions of food! A friend of mind had recently had her tongue pierced, so she ordered a small bowl of mash potatoes, and they brought her a a bowl of mashed potatoes that was so huge you could have thrown your face in it with room to spare!

very nice work sir! What are those thin shelves called or made of where can one buy..? Oops just found some wow are then costly!! But i guess is you don't have work sticking and fit more in per firing worth it. Have you found the to be worth the cost?

Thanks your glazes are superb. As yet I have not tried mixing my own glazes and I don't have a reduction kiln but it looks like it will be my next move. As a total beginner of only two years. I have found your videos most instructive. Any chance of purchasing a Matthew Kelly T shirt?

My cat knocked off my favorite Matthew Kelly bowl and broke it this morning. I could tell which piece it was when I heard the crash. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to get more!

I wish you would show us more when you unload. Even the ones you think you have messed up. Some people take way too much time showing their stuff and others don't take nearly enough time(that's you). I would like a happy medium. I actually love watching all of these, I just don't have the time to watch. I'm a ceramicist and have a lot to do. Thanks so much for showing your wonderful creativity.

    • @MatthewKellyPottery

Re-firing the red never works. If anything it would ruin the part that is currently red.

    • @violetsands
      @violetsands 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@MatthewKellyPottery i wondered about that because it was a reduction firing. I only work in oxidisation firiings and there is some scope to re fire but as you say sometimes it makes things worse! red is always temperamental. I feel for you because it is a heart sink moment when you realise it has not gone to plan - fingers and toes crossed for your next firing. :)

I felt your disappointment as well and send all kinds of support for your next firing! That test bowl has character! Keep up the fine work.......
