Everything came out great. Love that red.
Loving the red that had the big drips and the ones that ran over the entire mug because of the blue highlights in the glaze. I am particularly impressed by this kiln load, congratulations!
That copper red is awesome. love thr supreme court mugs and the red and rutile blue
Love the color combo on the supreme court mugs!
Awesome mugs, can’t wait for the restock!
Thumbs up for another great video. Sorry about the crack in the red pot...personally I think it is still beautiful and how vibrant the red is. It is so much fun to watch and fresh firing and the results. Hope you show many more firings and results. Thank you again for sharing with us.
Love that red!!!
Disappointed in those cracks, but how it goes. Can still put to goo use - Gotta Love that red ♥️😊 what a beautiful piece
Fantastic kiln opening. Looking forward to the restock.
Beautiful
I’ve had cracking on giant pieces in the past and for bottom cracks, I dust the bat with a little kaolin, mostly in the center. Also, rim cracks can happen if the kiln cools too quickly. I place fiberfax/Kaowool on top of my kiln and it slows it down. With extremely tall and large pieces, around 4-5ft tall and 150+ pounds, I leave the candle burners on and slowly bring down the temperature. Beautiful work Matthew!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks. I believe I know why that one cracked because of uneven heating during the bisque. It was cracked coming out of the bisque. I’ve made many other large piece that have not cracked. The cracking in the bottom is due to the way I stacked the kiln with a post in the middle of the planter. Lesson learned. Thanks for your input, I’m always learning even after 28 years of making pots.
This load was wonderful! I'm glad you nailed the red. No more pink (though I liked those, too).
Grand !
I like them. The colors are great.
Hello from Halifax, Nova Scotia! I've been subscribed to your channel for a few years and I find your videos really inspiring to watch. I recently attempted your one pound vases and they turned out pretty well. You are incredibly talented - thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with all of us.
yay the red is back - you must be pleased with such a good firing albeit with some cracks. At uni we were always told that small stuff at the bottom and large pieces above. You might want to try firing such a large pot on silica sand which would allow it to move a bit during the firing. Once that large planter is planted up the cracks will not be an issue. Maybe post a picture of it once it has been planted up?
Great pots. Nice red too.
Have you ever done a video on the mechanics of throwing a tall vase? Seems like regardless of the amount of clay, my pieces wind up being the same height. Makes me mad😀
Love the red!
I hope you have a successful and safe 2021 Matt
Love the mugs :)
Nice work, great colors. Crack at the bottom of the pot might be ok, part of the drainage.
I love the mugs!
Hi from Sweden! I love your videos! You have learned and inspired me a lot during 2020! Loking forward to follow your videos in 2021!
Nice work!
Do the mugs go out of round when the medallion is applied or do you think it happens during firing because the medallion changes the thickness uniformity?
Awesome. How many burners does it take to fire this puppy? You build it? Sorry about bugging you, but I'm going to build me a downdraft.
Matthew, could you do a bird bath? Two piece pedestal and a bowl top. Since you have done big stuff let us all know clay body, bisque and glaze selections. thanks.
The planter was so vivid red. What glaze?i. ok Matthew, I would like to make a donation so you can continue your art but I want to make a one time donation. Not a patreon donation. Can I don that? and how. Thanks
Good job Matt!
What are your kiln posts made out of? Are they commercial or you made those?
Matthew, I am unable to access your restock items on etsy. Could you tell me the process for getting to that site. Thanks. By the way, the copper red is beautiful.
I don’t currently have any items listed on Etsy. The restock is planned for February 26th but this restock will be on my own site. matthewkellypottery.com
Please, what are the gray plates 4:45 (holders for all mugs) made of inside the oven? Thanks...

@@MatthewKellyPottery, Obrigado!
How much red glaze did it take to paint that large planter for your mother in law?
I sprayed the glaze so it probably only took about 6-8 cups!
I know that this is a long shot request, but, will you share your "red glaze recipe"?
Is that a downdraft or updraft kiln?
Downdraft, the burners point up in the bottom but the exit to the chimney is at the bottom in the back center
Reassuring to see the 1776 flag on your wall. Thanks
and....the platter is awesome and the mugs ??...a little too gaudy for my taste but
everyone will love them so, carry on !
Haha. Never thought my pots would be gaudy. 😂 and yes I’m an American patriot. For all of our faults it’s still the best place in the world to live for freedom, in my opinion. Cheers
