When this chaotic World we live in threatens to overwhelm, at least I can come here every other Saturday and escape the madness if only for a short while. Thank you, Tristan! 🖖🙂🎣
Really enjoy your videos, decided to check some of your older videos from 5 years ago and I have to say that the quality of the videos has improved tremendously. Keep it up and thanks!
So fun watching you catch with the tenkara. I always bring my tenkara with me when i fish.... and have for about two years.... but I have yet to catch anything.
Thanks Tristan. That gorgeous section of water above the falls looked like the perfect place for plying the tenkara trade. Simply idyllic. Lovely wild trout. Your stint below the falls in deeper water made me wonder how the Sigiri 39 would handle a small bead head. Thanks again!
Pulled a rainbow out of that pool and one from the far side pocket two years ago on a tenkara rod. The fish seemed to be located at the tail end of thewaterfall pool. Great hike to that location too. No geese though, just the creek. ;)
Nice work Tristan! I fish a Diawa Expert Tenkara LT330 and it casts level lines like a dream. I imported from Japan, although I believe they are manufactured in Thailand, which is maybe why they are more affordable. Thanks for continuing to post those trips, your videos are keeping the fires burning through the off-season here in Scotland!
Loved that you included a still image of that rainbow trout. In future videos would you be able to do the same on any particularly nice fish you catch? It's nice to appreciate their colours for a moment. Especially in 4K!
That looks like one of the small creeks that flow down out of the mountains to the Fraser River in British Columbia. Given the time of year, you might have hooked into some salmon a little closer to the Fraser.
This is always where I start scouting blue lines. Naturally, people don’t like to post their secret trout spots, but they do love posting the pretty waterfalls. I Google up waterfalls and start in the pools below and work up, just like you say.
Hey Tristan, I don't always comment, but I always watch your videos, both here and your SUV RV'ing channel. That said, did you ever say which state this was in? You asked us to guess it at the beginning, but I don't remember you telling us where it was. The following video posted two weeks later was in Oregon, so maybe this one was done in OR as well?
as usual an awesome video. I have watched you from the beginning (Your other channel as well) and love your work. my question...You show all of these new rods and by the end of the vid we have a great idea if how good they are. But I would like some info on the lines that you like and use. I have a couple of Tenkara rods and love them, but my "Normal" fly rods take all sorts of line, and a lot of brands just are not that good. if you have already made a video of this send my too it, if not can you mention some of your preferences?
My Grandpa always told me that fish in creeks also look up for birds. As an Italian, I talk with my hands and arms LOL. Told me that waving my arms and hands around scared the fish. But how can you tell a good story without doing it LOL
Fourth video in which you’ve fished the Daiwa Sagiri 39MC, second fishing the Dragontail Talon Mini. I’ll guess Idaho for the state. I’m curious why you decided not to share that; was it just for the added fun/engagement? Thanks for another great video!
I have a request. Would you mind talking a bit more about what you are doing with the fly and what you watch for after your cast? I am new to Tenkara and I can’t see on my phone what you see when you set the line or exactly how you drift the fly and keep the line off the water. Apologies if this question is not what you are about.
Once again, you provide evidence to my hypothesis that the fly does not matter to fly fishing success. The people who obsess over which fly to use for a particular creek, weather, time of year, whatever are just not supported by anything. You just use whatever and catch tons of fish.
It doesn’t matter until it matters. I hope it’s a “working hypothesis” still subject to empirical evidence… And “not supported by anything”?!? The vast majority of serious fisherman know that it does matter. Just not all the time. And there are few rules to when it does. Fishing for likes, however, is merely a matter of throwing out any sort of assertion that violates convention, but in this case, fishing is not catching.
@@tommyrq180 LOL. In science we call that anecdotal data that has all of the value of used toilet paper. Fly fisherman just make up stuff, and Tristan shows that the whole culture of using this fly or that fly is really bogus. "Serious fisherman" is an amusing term. I think Tristan is a serious fisherman and he fishes with whatever fly he has handy.
@ If you were a scientist, and you clearly are not, you’d know that N=1 equals anecdotal data. So within the scope of one YT comment you contradict and mock yourself. That’s quite a trick. And isn’t Tristan a fly fisherman?!? Is he also just making stuff up? Self-contradiction reigns. In fishing there actually are people who guide 200+ days a year. They are paid to find fish, not sell flies. They virtually all know something you don’t. Being an iconoclast seems cool until you get some pushback and can’t hang…
Great video! Slogans for another t-shirt: front side - "Fish on!" back side: "See ya, buddy!"
Lol I like it!

Thanks for all your hard work over the years building this treasure trove of videos Tristan
A screen shot of the waterfall, and a reverse image made this location very easy to find.
You got me into tenkara fishing, Tristan. Now, you've also got me hooked on regular fly fishing. It's been a slippery slope and thank you for it all
Glad you could enjoy another good outing with your Sagiri! Absolutely lovely stream - many thanks for taking us there!
Really enjoy your videos, decided to check some of your older videos from 5 years ago and I have to say that the quality of the videos has improved tremendously. Keep it up and thanks!
Totally looks like some of the creeks I fish in Oregon. Wherever you were fishing its a beautiful spot!
So fun watching you catch with the tenkara. I always bring my tenkara with me when i fish.... and have for about two years.... but I have yet to catch anything.
Great video as usual! I like the "See ya, Buddy" idea as well. I find myself saying the same thing when I release a fish.
Thanks Tristan, for another great video. You always inspire me to get out and fish!
I’ve seen some fish packed plunge pools in almost 70 years of fishing. This one looks great.
Really enjoyable video. Thank you. I imagine it was challenging to keep your footing out there!

Everyone's saying Idaho. I'll venture a guess of Utah. Lovely, wherever it is. Nice last fish, too. Enjoy.
Great drone shots!! Lve hhe video. Always a great treat every two weeks. Thanks so much!

I've always wanted to fish one of those. Looks like a great rod!
Loved that you included a still image of that rainbow trout. In future videos would you be able to do the same on any particularly nice fish you catch? It's nice to appreciate their colours for a moment. Especially in 4K!
Sure. I used to do it more but I don't take too many pictures of fish these days. But I'll try to do it more 👍
Nice to see wild rainbows. No clipped fins on these fish.
I like the shirt idea. I always thought an "I set on rocks" shirt would be great.
That looks like one of the small creeks that flow down out of the mountains to the Fraser River in British Columbia. Given the time of year, you might have hooked into some salmon a little closer to the Fraser.
Another day in paradise. 😊

Beautiful place 😊❤

Wyoming
wonderful scenery and fantastic fish
Thanks!
This video helped me pass time as I was doing a yard sale thank you so much
Great to hear! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful spots
Beautiful stream I'm guessing Montana ...
I've been there several times. It's a popular hike to the falls near where I live.
I know this place it's a great hiking destination. :)

I'm going to guess you're in Idaho. "Rock or fish", we always called them rock fish. Beautiful area.
Fourth video in which you’ve fished the Daiwa Sagiri 39MC, second fishing the Dragontail Talon Mini. I’ll guess Idaho for the state. I’m curious why you decided not to share that; was it just for the added fun/engagement? Thanks for another great video!
Because this is a fairly well known waterfall in the area, so the creek would be easier to find with more details 🤷♂️
You should make a shirt with a picture of a trout with "See ya, Buddy".
You need to make a tee like that. That is a good saying for any type of fishing. I say you where in Montana, because you where using a Montana fly.
Ima say Colorado, nice tree walk , bet if you went below surface at the falls say with a streamer you do well , what do you think ?
This looks like Oregon.

I'm gonna say Eastern Washington, given the mix of fish you caught
Idaho I would guess
Looks kinda like Wyoming
Looks like a Pennsylvania creek up in the mountains
I thought that I had heard the fish will die if they are put back in! I hope not!😢
Could have been a rock is a good one too.
Idaho?
North or South Dakota?
Beautiful location!
Top secret location at the bottom of a popular ski resort?
Isn't it obvious where you're at? SW Kansas, of course! In all seriousness, I'd wager Idaho.
Eastern WA?
State of bliss?

Try a different fly!!!
