      So you’re literally tying 12’ of leader to the Lillian? Then tying the fly to the end of the 12’ of leader? Just seeing if I’m reading this right.

    Why make the Lillian so short? I know it is customary, but and extra two inches would make life so much easier. I just ordered a HELLbender and can't wait to try it out on the St Joe in North Idaho.

    When you wrap the line on the foam line holder, would it be more efficient to wrap the opposite way? Fly first and loop on the outside. This way you have the option of leaving the loop connected and you never have to unwrap everything just to find your loop.

      For connecting your level line to your tippet, I just tie an overhand stopper knot at the end of my level line and tie my tippet on just like I do to a hook right behind that stopper knot. You can tie on a tippet ring as well if you have them.

  • @logannewman4532

    So with the right amount of energy, the stopping point in the case will see the rod perpendicular to the tangent of the arc and the line should fly on that tangent, right?

    • @DenverMagicanDennis

    Are the lines floating or sinking, or can you use both?

    • @DenverMagicanDennis
      @DenverMagicanDennis 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The line it supposed to really be held above the water and allow the tippet and fly to sink. One of the big benefits to Tenkara is that you don't have to mend your line. There are floating lines on the market. I have allowed my line to drop into the water but only to maybe get a touch more depth.

      It’s maybe 16’ and all in the air when you cast. Any line twist will untwist while casting. It’s short so twist isn’t that big a deal.
