*SPOILER:* Mercedes Mone made her AEW debut at the start of the program, cut a promo, then saved Willow Nightingale from an afterbirth in the main event.
I was stunned they decided to have Riho vs. Willow be the Dynamite main event (while also being mildly impressed at the sheer chutzpah of it) but it sort of made sense after Mercedes made her run-in after it was over and the show ended with her front and center.
Dave’s summary of the Ospreay-Takeshita match sounds like a book my 3 year old daughter might read. “Will put on his hat. Will walked to the bus stop. His mommy said the bus would come soon. Will saw the bus coming.” I feel sorry for him that this is the level he can engage with wrestling on.

I’ve seen a clip of them repeatedly missing, botching, and miscommunicating the most simple, basic, attempt to exchange chops and forearms. You can’t give that ONE star! That wasn’t fit to be broadcast, let alone be rated almost the best pro wrestling can be. It’s ridiculous.
While no reasonable person could agree with the high ratings, ospreay was the best match and toni storm deonna purazzo was not entertaining in the least. Everything in between is subjective. Almost feel like his ways of doing all this has actually hurt Aew more with the larger fanbase. Even their fans at times aren't as high on what Dave rates these matches.
I wish Jim would do his own star ratings these days. Don’t even put real thought into it, just give matches stars in passing depending on what you think
Yeah, if nothing else to piss off Dave.
According to Dave Meltzer Eddie Kingston is a better wrestler than Kurt Angle. And that is why I'll never give his ratings any real credence.
And Angle,Eddie Guerrero,Benoit, never had a 5 star ratings match.It's embarrasing....
Suddenly Dave forgot about selling and logic
Travis Heckell for the win
It's so telling that in his comments on Ospreay/Takeshita, all Dave does is list moves. He's like a guy who thinks that Michael Bay is the best director because he has the most explosions.
I think Dave melter is absolutely delusional. Giving 6 stars to such terrible matches. I'm not saying all AE w matches are terrible. But it goes to show that clearly he is pro.A e w and no other promotion whatsoever
*SPOILER:* Mercedes Mone made her AEW debut at the start of the program, cut a promo, then saved Willow Nightingale from an afterbirth in the main event.
It could've been worse, Riho could've won. Such a shame really, I would have loved to see Cornettes reaction to that! 😂
That RIHO match was awful. They had no rhythm.
And she won't change the ratings.
I was stunned they decided to have Riho vs. Willow be the Dynamite main event (while also being mildly impressed at the sheer chutzpah of it) but it sort of made sense after Mercedes made her run-in after it was over and the show ended with her front and center.
She cut the same promo as CM Punk and Saraya, all while doing her Sasha Banks gimmick without the name
OH GOOD LORD!!
So by Dave's own description of the Ospreay/Takeshita match, he only cares about seeing big moves and spots. Forget psychology or telling a story.
Blue Hearts For Skye And Julie Tag Team Name!
Send shotzi over there and make them the black and blue hearts. Plus as an added bonus it would get shotzi off wwe tv
Dave’s summary of the Ospreay-Takeshita match sounds like a book my 3 year old daughter might read. “Will put on his hat. Will walked to the bus stop. His mommy said the bus would come soon. Will saw the bus coming.”
I feel sorry for him that this is the level he can engage with wrestling on.
That thumbnail of Dave is just HILARIOUS....
I clicked only for it...
At this point Jim should just start his own star rating just to set the IWC on fire...
Lets get Weasel Dooley out of retirement and have him and Corny revive the original rating system they started.
LOL, he's the one that came up with the star rating to begin with.
8:40 The description of the Takeshita vs. Ospreay match by Dave is exactly why this match was stupid. Just spots and moves with no story.
And I agree with Brian that Fletcher vs. Ospreay was better than the Revolution match
The match where there was a botch and near injury breaks 5 stars and is better than every Kurt angle match????
Wait hold on I was still laughing at the 4 star matches and then heard the Osprey match 5 and 3/4’s? Ahaha I almost died
Even if Meltzer graded matches out of 10 stars you would see ridiculous 9 and 3/4 star ratings to matches lol
He didn’t notice Matt Jackson didn’t even have to move to avoid the glass dive? Curious.
18:07 "don't sell defacation" ... wouldn't that make someone an entrepre-maneur... thank you, you've been wonderful people, I'll show myself out
With every star Kenny’s heart breaks that much more . Poor guy . First the trampoline cowboys kick him out of the Elite then old Dave gives the new boy a bunch of stars . The only person to have a worse week in march was Julius Ceaser
Oh christ here we go
I didn't think Jim was going to still be alive at the end of this clip. Uncle Dave is trying to kill our pal Jim.
Hope Dave piss Jim to a point where Jim vow to outlive Uncle Dave and piss on his grave also, just for liking the Buckaroo or Plumber Moxley
I like Danielson, but that Kingston match was abysmal
Chop, chop, chop, chop,chop,chop,chop,chop,chop,...kick kick, chop , chop, chop, chop chop chop
Sop-ify is actually a great name for a gravy business.
Jim Cornette as Fred Sanford is awesome
Over/under on Kenny coming back to challenge Ocean Spray for Dave's fluff services??
I can't lie... Bang bang scissor gang is a phenomenal name lol😂😂😂😂😂
Cornette's reaction to Kingston/Danielson was my favourite.
I can’t stop laughing at Jim’s reaction reaction the 4 star matches haha
Meltzer Khan and Alvarez gave it 8 1/2 Stars
I know you're joking because that's way too low
I thought Alvarez actually gave it 8 1/4 and Meltzer thought it was basically the same
While no reasonable person could agree with the high ratings, ospreay was the best match and toni storm deonna purazzo was not entertaining in the least. Everything in between is subjective. I personally found danielson vs kingston to be terrible but dave would never dare upset danielson. Really showed the difference between guys who know how to work japanese style versus guys like kingston who just cosplay it.
Travis Heckel's artwork should be displayed at the MOMA.
For a match to be rated 3 stars or more, shouldn't the crowd be vocally into the action the entire time? For 4 stars or more, shouldn't the entire crowd be standing the entire time? For 5+, shouldn't the crowd be jumping up and down with deafening volume? Or, is it just the in ring product/psychology, storyline hook, match length, breathing hard, painful facial expressions/selling, difficulty of executing moves, fancy entrance themes/music, and/or name value?
I love Jim as Fred Sa b ford holding his chest. Wheres Lamont?
The AEW fanbase and the WON readers (they’re essentially one and the same) are some of the most delusional people I’ve seen…a lot of them are really saying with a straight face that it was one of the greatest wrestling PPV’s of all time
Then, they always lie to people and themselves to justify the stupidity in AEW.
I’ve always defended Daves star ratings because ultimately its one mans opinion, but fucking hell some of these are inflated as all hell. Kingston vs Danielson was 4.75*? In what planet was that match better than anything Angle ever did?
Angle has a bunch of 4.75 matches
Tangled up in Blue is such a fantastic song. I agree Brian.
“I was doin jobs in the AE dub, once or twice a month for a spell,
But l nevah did like it awl that much and one day it awl went ta hell..”
