So I have a big question: I prefer open earbuds. I absolutely HATE nubs in my ears. But I do still want that good wireless ability and I would -like- to possibly get something that might have directional audio? I don't know enough about earbuds or audio tech enough to know if that's even something that might be counter-intuitive, but I hate wearing headphones, and I hate things being IN my ear too. So far, I've been using my Taotronics 88, which have been pretty fine so far. They got a nice bass, sounds pretty smooth... But when I try to connect them to my PC? Either one ear goes out, the other decides to try to be a mic, etc. All sorts of problems, and it's at the point where I just wanna get a new pair that hopefully WON'T be a pain in my ass. But again, they don't pair worth dog shite with my PC, and I'm pretty sure they don't have directional audio (Though do any earbuds? Still learning here). Any ideas? Just again, no ear nubs in there, that always felt extremely uncomfortable to me.
Problem with Antlion products is that I had 2 versions of the modmic which lasted quite sometime and then the wire got loose then it won't be able to work anymore , so that left me with the impression that it won't last very long for these as well. Don't get me wrong , they make really good sounding microphones , i bet these sound great as well but to know that it's that expensive and won't last very long really isn't really attractive to me. My Sennheiser headset has been with me for almost 10 years , apart from replacing the earcups and top rest , cable has shown no problems whatsoever due to the locking mechanism which prevents any unintentional pulls to wear the connection over time. That is the benchmark for anything that has cable connected to devices.
Been using iem for everything for the entire 2 years and it beats both headset and earphones in terms of comfort. No heat buildup and superior sound quality compared to headsets. I can definitely work/play/watch for hours without any discomfort.
Yeah. I have been getting into more audiophile audio options as of late. But more and more I find myself going with IEM options. More flexible. Easier to carry several options around. Cheaper to get better sound. More variety in options and sound signatures. No neck strain, no hot spots (though I do get ear canal itch), the list goes on of the advantages.
I have also switched to IEM's and now have a headphone nostalgia wall. With IEMS in, why not have a mic stand and a higher quality mic. I never understood why this would be something someone wanted unless they game on a laptop on the go or something.
Antlion makes a solid mic. I'm not sure I'll ever do iems for the PC. Though I'd be curious to try them. Can't imagine you get much imaging, that said, stereo cues in game would probably be very clear.
i like IEMs but i really don't want to use in-ears for 6+hrs every day when i can just use my comfy over ear headphones that are also much less finicky in handling
@@MKR3238 Yeah. For some people, iems are more comfortable because they're small and lightweight and nothing is pressing against the ears. But for me, full sized headphones (with oval shaped pads, so nothing should be pressing my ears) are much more comfortable because my ear hole (?) starts to become a bit painful after like 2 hours wearing iems, and the part where the wires hooks onto my ears also starts to pain bcuz the earhooks constantly rubbing against the skin. Not to mention i have the blessing 2 which is (in)famous for having an absolutely humongus nozzle.
I've been wearing open back headphones for years. I thought that the soundstage of IEMs would sound much more muted. I have a pair of Moondrop Arias and a pair of Salnotes Zero. I'm actually very impressed with the soundstage and at this point I prefer them to my open backs. I have them wired into an Audient Evo 4 so that I can hear my own voice when I talk. It's an excellent setup and I never wear open backs any more unless my wife is also gaming in the room and wants to talk to me.
Stuck with apple earbuds (wired) ever since I got a HyperX Quadcast. Also, great song choice for this video(I recognize the one playing in the background “Intentions” by Anno Domini Beats)
seem like the mic isn't detachable, the cable is not braded, Antlion doesn't told what material used in cable, and no pop filter ? guess i still stick with my Kinera gramr, better in term of price, accessory and transparency in advertising
Would you recommend just getting the Duo over getting the mic and a pair of Moondrops? (In a comparable price range, not something like the Aria) I ask because I need to replace my KZ ZST's anyway and was eyeing Moondrops already.
I've always disliked IEMs personnaly. The feeling of shoving something into your ear canal always felt uncomfortable, and that's BEFORE I get to earwax issues. I have some pretty thick and abundant earwax, no matter how I clean. Given I see the doctor several times a year to deal with blockages that give me temporary deafness, voluntarily shoving something into my ear that may instantly make things worse feels like suicide to me. Since I've never tried IEMS in almost ten years, I wonder how they can even compete with large open-backed headphones or dedicated speakers when it comes to soundstage.
These look like the solution for my big ass head that just ruins headsets. I've gone through multiple $200-$500 headsets only to have them break at the joints or ear cups falling apart. The concept of the IEM is new to me and I love it. Though I believe I may wait until there is a noise canceling microphone. Im not sure I would want to acquire a independent soundcard just for casual mic EQ.
You don't need an independent sound card for basic mic EQ. You can use something like EqualizerAPO (assuming you are on Windows) to make adjustments to how your mic sounds for free. It is even compatible with VST plugins so you can do "proper" EQ. Also there are VSTs for noise suppression (I personally use RNNoise which seems to work pretty well with minimal quality loss). It is a bit more advanced than what you might be looking for but I definitely recommend checking it out (there are a bunch of tutorials on youtube).
@@jmrios no problem! Also FYI you can use EqualizerAPO to create a system wide EQ for the IEMs as well not just the microphone. So if you find that the IEMs have too much bass for example then you can adjust it to your liking.
heating the sound as you play was awesome, I would have loved to have heard the DUO's in A/C Valhalla as well as the Solo's. For me the important thing is bass, do you think the Duo's have good base? Im using Corsiar Virtuoso se, and the base on those are amazing for the price, roughly the same price as the Kimura Duo's.
Unfortunately its not wireless and wireless iems tend to have low battery life and bluetooth aptx low latency will switch to mono if the mic is used. I wanted a headset and mic that has low latency and bluetooth for phone calls and noise cancellation. The only solution I've found is the avantree aria pro v1 (not v2) paired with a DG60. It supports all the codecs you could want with ANC included. It uses their fastream tech that is 2.4ghz and when a call comes in on my phone it switches to bluetooth automatically. The podio version is the same as the pro but with a handy charging dock. Whats best is its super cheap! I'm surprised you haven't reviewed it! The only downside I've found is the sound is ok, but with some equalizer tweaks it sounds much better. My previous headset was the sennheiser 370 and no complaints but now I have both 2.4ghz pc connectivity, noise cancellation so i can focus more on gaming and auto switching to bluetooth on phone calls its most definitely an upgrade for me.
I wish they would actually have a nice microphone that can match other professional headset mics from Shure, LD Systems, Sennheiser and so on. The idea is decent but has existed as separate parts for ages and with much much higher audio quality. It is fine for some voice calls but for everything else - nope, sound quality is not there.
Could you please recommend a 1500W PLATINUM rated ATX 3.0 (with new GPU smart power cable) PSU? With electricity so expensive we want a PSU with max efficiency to save on energy bills (platinum better than just gold rated), & as GPUs keep needing more & more power, & these PSUs should last at least 10yrs, a 50% latency above the minimum recommended 1000W for RTX4090 PC seems sensible. I'm open to 1600W if not 1500W. A side by side high end platinum ATX 3.0 PSU comparison video would be amazing! :)
OK the kimura sounds really good with EQ but without eq its a little to heavy on the bass. The headset and wired modmic sound very nasalily to me, especially the original mod mic. Again to my ears the Corsair Virtuoso mic quality are still the best sounding headset mic out of everything I have heard. Two ways to fix the noise issue from cables and background. First if you have an Nvidia graphics card you can use Nvidia broadcast. Otherwise to get rid of cable noise but no noise cancelation is to make them wireless. Which is what I hope they do sometime in the future and make them 2.5GHz wireless because Bluetooth has to much latency even for 5.2-5.3/aptx
during the gameplay the sound from the game was so good. I remember getting the sennheiser gsx1000 after listening to it from a video you made, but eventhough i'm listening through them right now i've never been able to get it sound as good as that original video or this. Any pointers on how to set it up?
The problem is that the Aria has a recess 2 pin connection, and this cable has a flat end, so unless the pins are very long it won't fir the Aria, or any Moondrop IEM. Actually if I recall, only Fiio has that flat type 2 pin connection, but maybe I'm wrong.
Hmmm nice video I am tempted to get just the cable though I do wish there was some talk about the connectors esp the 2 pin like is it 0.75mm or 0.78mm also one of my iems has a rectangular recess around the 2 pin area and another pair of iems that don't have that recess on them.
@@worri3db3ar it's not going to be I think. That's really just a KZ thing, like the recessed MMCX of Sennheiser. I don't think they would add support at the cost of a proper fit for all the other 2 pin sets.
@@andrewalexander9508 mmm true just curious cos like I said I have some iems that have a recess on them and another two that aren't recessed. But thanks for the heads up/thoughts least it helps to decide if getting the cable only or get the duo/solo set.
Sounds more like these are work in progress. Need wireless and mic noise canceling. Why would you use these when there are a myriad of earbuds that do a better job?
I use one of those smartphone friendly 0.78 pin cables on my 200euros IEM and it does the job beautifully. Then If I need quality microphone there is this Fifine audio that perform great for recordings (I've owned a Blue Yeti before and the sound of the fifine have more sub-bass but slight less details in the high freq).
Maybe I'm in the minority but I get 0 head fatigue or hot ears from my OG Logitch G Pro X. Wasn't a huge fan of these headphones when I got them but with a decent EQ I was able to get the muddy sound out of it and they've been kicking for about 2 years now.
To be honest why the cord had to be with 2x 3,5 mm plugs? I would have preferred with with single 3,5 mm TRRS plug and have short splitter cable from 1x 3,5 mm into 2x. Guess I'll have to wait if that kind of cord gets released. I have Shure SE215 already waiting.
Hmmmm the sound on the mic doesn't seem that great imo. Doubt it's an improvement over the kinera gramr which is even cheaper and a comfortable cable as well. Maybe the Antlion is more durable but overall I think the kinera gramr is a better deal.
Hi, thanks for your video. Do you think the truthear crinacle IEM + Antlion microphone cable could be a great setup ? I have already the IEM I Would like to not buy another one.
depends on what kind of headphone, there are hi-fi headphones exist that has superior sound quality. But in terms average consumer headphones, yes IEM are far superior. You can buy 20$ ones like 7hz Salnotes Zero, or 100$ like Tripowin Olina SE. Their sound quality alone can beat Sony XM4s tenfold. You just need to find your preferred tuning since iems are tuned differently.
Are there any wireless IEMs? I have a wireless headset, but I am getting annoyed by the weight of it. I am looking online at IEMs but there aren't any wireless ones..
Ah, nothing like sending a scav flying in an offline Tarkov raid... not sure EFT is the best test for audio products, considering how broken audio is in that game to begin with (Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice might be a better choice for testing), but still nice to see somebody actually testing headphones with something instead of the typical unboxing and a bit of music.
How would these compare to Sony WH1000XM3 or later though? I run those with the VModa Boom Pro mic, and I would have a hard time believing earbuds can compare in quality... but I'm all ears
"[Normally] very good awareness of if anyone is above you." In the game that is having a lot of audio issues right now and people above you sound like they are on the same floor, right now. XD Definitely looks like a great headset though!
Kinera Gramr is an IEM boom mic that comes in 2 pin and mmcx connections. The only problem I have is sidetone/mic monitoring, I don't know what the best solution is
I have the Kimura 2-pin cable on some Raptgo Hook-X's, and as much as I WANT to like this mic for travel, the memory/rigid ear hooks honestly kinda feel terrible, and it only gets worse if you wear glasses.
Looks to be a much better option in comparison to the ADV. Nismo 3D and ADV. Nismo Jr IEMs. The mic boom on those two pairs of IEMs come directly out of the IEM toward your mouth, and the weight of the boom will often cause the IEM to wiggle loose from your ear during movements. The ADV. Nismo EIMs would benefit greatly if they would just redesign the cable to hook over the ear the same way that these do.
@@microwavegommmm916 My solution is probably only viable on PC. I use a Sudotack ST-900 USB microphone that has passthrough via the 3.5mm jack on the mic itself. So I'm able to hear myself with very minimal delay while I record through that. I'm sure there are programs that will also allow you to monitor your mic input, but if you're a console gamer your options may be very limited.
@@FifthPinned Appreciate the reply bro, and I'm on PC too. I just remember mic monitoring being easily accessible as it was integrated into xbox party chat. I have since followed the advice of the channel called "techless", in which he suggested a couple of devices, one being the very affordable soundblaster G3 which I have yet to test and the EPOS GSX 300 which is a slightly more expensive option. I have read online that the soundblaster G3 has some delay but the reviews vary. If I find that the delay is too much I will get the GSX 300
How are IEMS on surround sound audio? I've never used IEMS for gaming and I have astro a50s I don't know if these would be a step down in sound quality or directional audio in comparison.
i see they dont do a good job for directionality thats for sure. the case at new gas you heard a footstep but had no idea where it came from. that alone is a deal breaker for me. ive watched a pro w a pair of 560s on and he knew exactly where they were. i use nova pro wireless and i have 0 issue judging distance, location, and if they are above or below. the mic in these isnt impressive at all its pretty terrible. i have a dedicated mic setup on my pc. i use the blue bluebird and its an incredible mic thats for sure.
Bought a pair of RAPTGO Hook-X about 8 months ago after watching FreshReviews rave about them , haven't touched my HD560S since. Love them for tarkov, feel like I can hear a scav fart 30m away.
I’d be interested in these but my issue with in ear buds is they build up pressure inside the ear and are uncomfortable after 10-15 minutes. AirPods Pro are the only earbuds I can wear beyond that because of the one way pressure valve. Do these have something similar? Or can anyone recommend a pair of IEMs with such a feature?
This is the result of poor earphone design. There are plenty of (budget) products with air vents, maybe look for those if you're interested in trying in-ears out!
Same here, tried a few different models of iem-s, and none of them are comfortable long term for me. My ears star to hurt after a few minutes. Tried also different tips and nothing helps. Had to go back to classic over ear headset with mic. But in term of sound quality and signature, i was very good pleased with all my iem-s. I played cod and apex and the sound stage was amazing, and I recommend to everyone who can wear iem-s without pain to go that route because it is far better than any gaming headset.
Only TH-camr who ever has tested a game like tarkov it’s my game I play it everyday and for you to use it as an example especially with the audio system it has but it truly makes me so happy 🤓😊 thanks bro subbed !

@@MKR3238 agree
I agree, both that I can't see myself going IEM for the PC and that I need to say least give it a try. I have a couple good pairs I can test.
Its nice to see and old school fav rig builder of mine step into the Chi Fi world along with me.
can you compare with Kinera Gramr? its another iem mic thanks
yeh, and Celest Ruyi
Stuck with apple earbuds (wired) ever since I got a HyperX Quadcast. Also, great song choice for this video(I recognize the one playing in the background “Intentions” by Anno Domini Beats)
I switched to earbuds about 6 months ago. I have like 4 gaming headsets collecting dust now. These look awesome.
What earbuds are you using ?
I'll buy your old headsets😅😅😅😅
64 Audio tia Trió
Tarkov realy have our ears..
i may try Kimura DUO with boom mic.
then there are these wireles alternatives..
Audio Technica just released their Mx50 headphones with a mic now btw :D

Had me at IEM. Lost me at no noise cancellation & the hair rub.
seem like the mic isn't detachable, the cable is not braded, Antlion doesn't told what material used in cable, and no pop filter ? guess i still stick with my Kinera gramr, better in term of price, accessory and transparency in advertising
*👆👆👆Reach out @Hardware_Canucks, you won🎉..*
Would you recommend just getting the Duo over getting the mic and a pair of Moondrops? (In a comparable price range, not something like the Aria) I ask because I need to replace my KZ ZST's anyway and was eyeing Moondrops already.
Pretty nice that they sell the cable separately and used MMCX connectors. I could use my SHURE SE425 with it!
I haven't tried gaming with an IEM yet. Being able to add this makes that a possibility if I like them.
I love the idea
I use an el gato mic with the head jack in it so I can use semi open ear buds. So I’m on board with this trend!
I had a friend send me some IEMs and they're amazing hard to go back sometimes so comfortable
We should have bonus gameplay with future reviews on gaming stuff from now on.
I am still amazed by the Antlion mics.
In your defense, vertical audio has been broken in Tarkov for a very long time, especially in this latest wipe.
Thank for the review. Have you tried the Koss Ksc 75?
They are often suggested as the best sub $150 headphones
I've always disliked IEMs personnaly. The feeling of shoving something into your ear canal always felt uncomfortable, and that's BEFORE I get to earwax issues.
I have some pretty thick and abundant earwax, no matter how I clean. Given I see the doctor several times a year to deal with blockages that give me temporary deafness, voluntarily shoving something into my ear that may instantly make things worse feels like suicide to me.
Since I've never tried IEMS in almost ten years, I wonder how they can even compete with large open-backed headphones or dedicated speakers when it comes to soundstage.
lol its like day and night, you cant compare it like that
These look like the solution for my big ass head that just ruins headsets.
@@TheOfficialT3Si great info! Thank you very much! I may just go ahead and pick these up then. 😄
@@jmrios no problem! Also FYI you can use EqualizerAPO to create a system wide EQ for the IEMs as well not just the microphone. So if you find that the IEMs have too much bass for example then you can adjust it to your liking.
Try the truthear Hola, it's only 20$ and I think it's probably one of the best intro iems
@@TheOfficialT3Si I'm learning so much! Thank you very much. Wholesome internet comments ftw!
heating the sound as you play was awesome, I would have loved to have heard the DUO's in A/C Valhalla as well as the Solo's. For me the important thing is bass, do you think the Duo's have good base? Im using Corsiar Virtuoso se, and the base on those are amazing for the price, roughly the same price as the Kimura Duo's.
The mic on the solo sounds better or is it just me?
I'm really happy that they're selling the cord on it's own. living up to the "modmic" name.
although I do think they're a tad overpriced. I personally can't wait for them to be knocked off for like $20-30
Ty for the review..do you still use them as your main? If not, which ones?
your sniper kills are awesome man
Love that you play Tarkov, sound is so important in this game. Been looking for IEMs specifically for this game.
*👆👆👆Reach out @Hardware_Canucks, you won🎉.*
Absolutely love the tarkov testing as that's the game I find the hardest to find a good headset for, thanks!
*👆👆👆Reach out @Hardware_Canucks, you won🎉.*
*👆👆👆Reach out @Hardware_Canucks, you won🎉...*
a wireless version on this would be awesome!
Awesome review style! Could really hear the difference. Thanks. Cool product too, Antlion.
during the gameplay the sound from the game was so good. I remember getting the sennheiser gsx1000 after listening to it from a video you made, but eventhough i'm listening through them right now i've never been able to get it sound as good as that original video or this. Any pointers on how to set it up?

Awesome for you to cover and review alternatives to classic gaming headsets like this 🙌. Thanks for this kind of content Dmitry and HC Team! 😄❤
Since there’s no NC you can use the NVidia Noise Cancelling software
Hmm, just the mic module and with moondrops aria will prob be the best combo i can think of
aria is no longer the value king at 80$, try the Hexa
The problem is that the Aria has a recess 2 pin connection, and this cable has a flat end, so unless the pins are very long it won't fir the Aria, or any Moondrop IEM. Actually if I recall, only Fiio has that flat type 2 pin connection, but maybe I'm wrong.
Reminds me of the old cod days with the ear piece mic
Hmmm nice video I am tempted to get just the cable though I do wish there was some talk about the connectors esp the 2 pin like is it 0.75mm or 0.78mm also one of my iems has a rectangular recess around the 2 pin area and another pair of iems that don't have that recess on them.
It's listed on the purchase page. I think it's the .78mm
@@andrewalexander9508 cool thanks. Just got to wonder if it's recessed or not lol
Why would you use these when there are a myriad of earbuds that do a better job?
seem interesting, shame about the silicon tips, if there was an option with apple airpods design id get them
I use one of those smartphone friendly 0.78 pin cables on my 200euros IEM and it does the job beautifully.
Then If I need quality microphone there is this Fifine audio that perform great for recordings (I've owned a Blue Yeti before and the sound of the fifine have more sub-bass but slight less details in the high freq).
How would the Antlion Kimura Duo compare to the Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lites when gaming especially with Tarkov?
Are IEM's as good as headphones in terms of audio quality? Might switch to one if it's just as good or better.
depends on what kind of headphone, there are hi-fi headphones exist that has superior sound quality.
Please do more gaming with commentary, when it's applicable of course. Thanks for the review!
I can hear the crackling when you speak. They need to up the quality of the mic.
If you're worried, those types of mics tend to be electret capsules
Try it on Hunt: Showdown, you'll have the best audio ever to try these out.
this is perfect, all i would want is some mic foam an this will be a go.
These look good, I'll probably grab them when I feel like upgrading. Tired of hot ears and glasses pain from over ear headphones
as soon as a company makes an iem that actually fits my small ears and doesn't cause discomfort ill be in
Kinera Gramr is an IEM boom mic that comes in 2 pin and mmcx connections.
The only problem I have is sidetone/mic monitoring, I don't know what the best solution is
about to buy until you mentioned that it does not have the noise canceling mic
In the canal ear headphones long term will not be good for your hearing health over the ears are still safer for your ears
I have the Kimura 2-pin cable on some Raptgo Hook-X's, and as much as I WANT to like this mic for travel, the memory/rigid ear hooks honestly kinda feel terrible, and it only gets worse if you wear glasses.
I hate that they used the MMCX removeable cable standard over the highly used 2pin 0.78mm

What's your solution for mic monitoring/sidetone?
I want to be able to hear myself without too long of a delay l
You should try out Westone W40's They have been around forever.
The Duo or Sennheiser IE 300 for Tarkov?
Bought a pair of RAPTGO Hook-X about 8 months ago after watching FreshReviews rave about them , haven't touched my HD560S since. Love them for tarkov, feel like I can hear a scav fart 30m away.
Does the Kimura work with the Fiio FH3, if so how is the fit?
IEMs and EFT gameplay? Bruh i love this
I’d be interested in these but my issue with in ear buds is they build up pressure inside the ear and are uncomfortable after 10-15 minutes.
Pressure vents are a common feature even on budget sets these days.
I played cod and apex and the sound stage was amazing, and I recommend to everyone who can wear iem-s without pain to go that route because it is far better than any gaming headset.
i have no problem with that, good custom molded iems last me 15+ hours a day
You can buy a certain iem you like then buy a 3rd party eartips like cp100 etc. They're soft and can adapt to any earhole shape
Your ears 5 years later: I am dead to you now
Only TH-camr who ever has tested a game like tarkov it’s my game I play it everyday and for you to use it as an example especially with the audio system it has but it truly makes me so happy 🤓😊 thanks bro subbed !
