Fish out buildings have been popular over seas for years and are quickly becoming popular in the US. I know you said no dehumidifier but one would not only help with moisture and reduce likelihood of mold and health issues you might could get from it but a dehumidifier would also help your heating concern in the winter as they put off heat. Then in the summer the window ac will help work dehumidifing the air.
The door is definitely gonna suck heat out in the winter. If you want a cheap solution, you can get some insulated panels and cut them into strips and double sided tape or glue them to the inside of the door, which should help a lot. But ultimately replacing the roll up door with some French doors, or honestly even a regular door (and making the rest of the former roll up door a wall) would be the best move
About heating and cooling. Here i Denmark many ppl are installing air-to-air heater, which also works as a AC-unit. It works like a reverse refrigtorater when heating. So each watt use to collect heat from the outside you get about 4 times more heat, watt-wise. So to sum up, one unit (one for outside and one for inside connected by 2 hoses) for both cooling and heating. And better using the power when heating.
With water tank outside the fishroom you can use for watering the garden There are dog trainers on amazon that make a silent beep that will stop the neighbor dogs
A mini split would have a dehumidification function on it, so you would get heat, A/C, and a dehumidifier in one. As far as the heater goes, if it’s UL rated then you don’t need to worry. That short of a length will be fine @ 20 amps. With that being said, I personally would replace the chord with a heavier gauge if I was that concerned about it.
you could just use a window unit with a heat/ac combo that what I'm going to use and if you going to replace the roll up door just have it mounted above the french doors
Congrats on the new house. Looking forward to seeing how all this is going to evolve. From your past endeavors, I'm sure it will be creatively awesome. 👍💖👍
If you can afford it they have heaters/air conditioning units that can be installed in the wall. You just have to cut an opening for it and I think that would be the safest and the best bet for you. Good luck with all your future endeavors. Congratulation on your new home enjoy Last minute thought you could install A heater air conditioner unit above the garage door since you’re planning on putting French doors in that would be the perfect spot. Just a thought
Definitely put in the mini split over a window ac. Mini splits are DEFINITELY more efficient than window ACs and with adding a window to go with the AC and the power to run the window ac and heater, the mini split is probably the cheaper option.
👍😎 Looks nice Mike. I get changing the roll up door, on other hand, do you want to get rid of it? That big door could be handy at some point. Maybe add a walk in door to use daily. Buying or still renting? None of my business, just wondering. 🖖
Why not use the basement room for all your aquariums and then use the out building for the business? Pleased the move went ok and it’s good to have you back.
Oil filled electric radiators are the safest by far for what your after far safer than like a infrared or ceramic or def much more safe than anything that would require any type of gas. Just make sure there's nothing left against the radiator they don't get that hot but the potential is def there to melt something. I'd def recommend getting a garage door insulation kit and keep that heat in as much as possible.
From what I can tell, they dont make an insulation kit for a roll up door... Best I could do was adding an additional rubber strip at the bottom to try and prevent air escaping...
Roll up doors suck. They tend to have a large gap at the top, not really visible from the inside, but if you close the door and look from the outside you'll be able to see the gap (I'm able to see my ceiling through the gap easily). 3 years ago we had a rat issue, that was how they got in.
FISHROOMS ARE REWARDING but a Lot of Responsibility too. Maintaining Temperature in Winter and Auto feeders if You must leave for a week, Filters that may clog, On regular basis they are great When at the point of feeding and Watching them after all the work is done. Biggest mistake is overcrowding your Tanks. Fine with all pumps running, during power outage You start losing fish and if not removed comes disaster. Enjoy your Fishroom. 🐟
This is literally my current project, I have a brand new build outside, I used it for my lawnmower my lady gave me the go ahead to turn it in to a big fish room, I’m here for research! I might possibly do a video of me actually building the inside from scratch but I’m very curious with how to heat it and all that
@@AQUAPROS so! Thats one good thing about me 🤣 I am qualified for gas and water haha it’s just getting power out there will be the one thing I don’t much about!
@@AQUAPROS I have never done TH-cam but I will have to change my name and do a detailed series on this build, I’m very handy so I’m super excited to actually get this thing locked down haha
Electrician here, wiring in your walls are sized to be very safe, over kill in a way.. exposed appliance wires are usually smaller due to them being less of a fire risk.. if the wire came with your heater is should be safe..
Window units are cheap yes but they aren't efficient and are not quiet. Metal uninsulated garage doors are fabulous heat sinks. They are almost 100% efficient at replacing the inside air temperature with the unwanted outside air temperature.
Arn't they better than the ones that have the hose inside? My understanding was that they are better cause the "hot part" is outside... Noise is def still an issue for filming...
The money wasted on a window could be put forth for that mini split. French doors/ larger man door would be idea. If the cord gets too hot to touch you're running risk of burning that garage down, otherwise it will be fine. You'll hate this winter out there, I would of put all the tanks into the house until you can get the garage done then moved them in.
I agree. TH-cam already offers subtitles that work decently. Not being able to turn off the subtitles is very frustrating. Reading subtitles actually literally gives me a headache and makes my brain fog worse. I won't be able to continue to watch the videos regularly if there's subtitles like this in all the videos. Please consider just using the TH-cam option subtitles as those can be turned on and off.

Hey I hear ya, still feeling it out. You might be on to something with the dehumidifier and heating the space, Ill have to try that out! Thanks!
Good to see ya back in action
so happy to see you back dude, excited to see what you turn that space into
Welcome back..... :) :) u r dearly missed :) :)
Been following u for years glad to see ur video pop up....congrats my dude
I appreciate it!

Great timing on this, I'm closing on a house this month that comes with a fairly large shed in the yard I'll be transforming into a fish room.
Awesome!
Cool bro glad to see you settling into the new space!
Thanks Lerb, hope to see ya soon 😀🙏

Interesting. I think I have to go back in time some more and watch more origin story 🤓

You rock Shelby 🙏💯
A good mini split system that cools and heats is more efficient than the window unit ac and the plug in heater.
Ya for sure, we'll have to see what the e- bill is this winter...
Hey Mike! Good to see you’re making progress on the new space. Can’t wait to see the tanks get set back up.

Mini split is much better only if you are insulated up.
How are you going to warm the water when you do water changes? Doesn't cold water shock the fish?
It can, ill prolly just do smaller water changes so It wont swing the temp too much

Roll up door has to go and get the mini split it heats and cools. MOP
finally my time has come!!!!! uploading my rookie video soon! also did you ever get your heat put in? and was it an AC unit and heat built in to one??

Water your plants and grass with fish water is amazing for them maybe get a water storage tank and use to water your plants

I wouldn't use an extension cord on the heater. It's going to be a cool fishroom..
I really appreciate the subtitles! Really interesting project too, I've often thought about the possibilities of my own shed as a fish room.
you will find the mini-split is the best course of action. I worry you will lose fish before realizing it.
Im able to keep it ~79F in there right no problem, but winter hasnt hit yet ;/

@@ReneesZooTube adding subtitles is itself is not such a big issue. They way it was done here, word by word is. I had to stop watching the video.
