I love they kept the separate transformations. And even more so the gave the shuttle form legs. They even gave the lynx transformations jointed legs and shoulders. This is way worth the price if your a sky lynx fan

So congrats on being the first Transformers TH-camr to give us a in-hand and in-dept review on Earthrise Sky-Lynx. All his modes are awesome, especially the Space Shuttle launch base mode. I'm planning to display him like that with the Studio Series DOTM Wreckers: Roadbuster, Topspin, and Leadfoot, once they're all released. To reassemble the secret Autobot launch facility with the Autobot spaceship, the Xantium, from DOTM.
Honestly this is one of the few non 3rd party figures I've been excited for in years. Magna Inventa costs way too much so for $80 this masterpiece scale toy is a real bargain. I just hope it won't have any quality control issues like there have been on some of my other official toys.
Sky Lynx was one of my favorite toys in Generation 1, and seeing a new version of the classic character was enough to secure my preorder already. Seeing a review like this just cements my decision to get the Earthrise Sky Lynx (even with the few flaws). Thanks for posting the review!
This is the coolest triple+ changer I've ever seen. Even the base mode looks good, which is rare because these base modes always look like the same interconnected islands.
Yes, Sky Lynx got one of the best base modes of the last years, only Titan Class Omega would be considered to have a better one but it's natural because it's the only alternate mode it has.
I love the new Skylynx commander class figure. I think they should do Broadside next as a leader class or a titan sized figure about the size of a Devastator or Predaking

You're right we should get a commander class overlord who would have his g1 base mode and also be huge and maybe get a micromaster gigs and mega as cassettes who could if you have the pegs out could activate the guns from g1

SO 3rd party should focus on replacement wings (at least the joints) and tail extension or replacement figure to help the tail if possible hmm gotta see how it put together to see if possible and then the parts can be really small and easy to match up. Otherwise a fairly solid figure.
Why in more than 30 years have they never made a skylynx where lynx is a booster? Why have an ugly block with wheels on it in every incarnation, how many times have megatron and soundwave gotten new alt modes but the most variation we’ve had with skylynx’s alt modes are when the two were fused together in combiner wars. You could have a skylynx where lynx was the fuel tank and two boosters and you could pretend to launch it, separate the rockets, do whatever in space and then land it, you could even have a mincon that turns into a satellite and could come out of the bay doors like on this version of sky. Is there any reason other than because it was in G1 that a space shuttle would need to carry a crawler transport around with it everywhere that it went, a space shuttle can go into space and anywhere on the earth within hours, a crawler transport can only move across flat hard terrain and does so at a painfully slow speed, what kid wants to play with an awesome space shuttle and a rectangle with wheels on it, hell it doesn’t even look like the actual vehicle why not just be rid of it siege had non G1 alt modes for megatron and soundwave, and the earthrise alt mode for megatron also isn’t G1 so why not just use this opportunity to make lynx a far more playable figure, a booster and fuel tank would have been far better that whatever that base mode / launch base was. Actually come to think of it you could probably lynx could probably triple change into a crawler transport and into the boosters, this version already has an alternate non G1 mode and it’s not like they haven’t done harder things, surely it can’t be too difficulty to make a rectangle into a cylinder and a lion, especially when you have two booster rockets that could come off and make the legs.
Oh wow, I'm completely jealous, this looks awesome and so much better than the original Combiner Wars figure. I do have one question, in the base mode for the lynx where you port the shuttle, is it possible to attach Astrotrain there too? Looks like a similar way to attach his base form.
i feel like titans return figures would be great for comparison to these earthrise figures, just due to the fact that they share some details between the two lines, aside from both being the 2nd line in their respective trilogy.
This is really an awesome representation of an updated G1 Earthrise version of G1 Sky Lynx!!! I have the Takara Encore G1 Reissue of Sky Lynx!!!! The review itself is interesting.
Probably not Skylynx thrusters are alot more substantial in size as well as to the pegging system being too weak for the mass of skylynx. I do think that astrotrain in his shuttle mode on his launch pad attached to skylynx base mode would look epic
The red of the bird neck looks like a throat, and it gives me a horror movie vibe of like alien creatures invading machinery because the face still retains that rocket look, so it looks like some kinda creature inhabited its shell like a crab or something
You know, I've never cared for Skylynx and I think I finally understand why: he doesn't really turn from one thing to another. The base mode kinda does, but the lynx alt mode is a crate that looks like a folded quadriped robot and the shuttle turns into a shuttle-bird. It's not like I dislike the character and I get why he's like this, and I even really like when things diverge from always turning into a humanoid form. Hell, this figure looks fantastic in many ways and has a ton of awesome play features that aren't gimmicky. But I just don't really want it like so many others. Anyone else, or is it just me?

Gorgeous looking figure. I particularly like the Lynx. Enjoying these commander class figures. Heres hoping for a Star Saber or maybe a Road Caeser made of three voyager size brainmasters.
The Combiner version wasn't horrible, I actually like it, the torso mode looks cool. I liked messing with it and transforming it. That said, it was too small for who he is and is getting replaced by this one.
It was this dude or metroplex when they first came out I chose metroplex. Kinda liking all these new versions tho. The one I always wanted was omega supreme and fortress maximus. Cant wait till they make a four foot combiner with a two foot body a foot and a half legs and a eight in head ,six inch antennae and a two foot shooting blaster,thatll be awesome!!

Sponsors: He is sponsored by a number of popular UK and even US online toy stores so they can get their hands on these figures ahead of time and send em out early to him 3. First thoughts: Due to his popularity and full interest in mainline transformers, he is sent these figures before mainline release to kind of give a first taste and opinion on the figures before they go on retail so they can fix any problems he finds with them and guarantee the most sales for these figures.. He ports into 3 circular indentations in the Lynx mode that fit into its shuttle thrusters. Different shape then Astrotrain

You can tell by looking at the wing hinges that you don't have the wings fully folded up into place. That might be why they seem so floppy

They missed out lynx for the ‘combiner wars’ series as they couldn’t make skylynx both combine with others and split into sky and lynx.
Yep. He gave up Lynx and Bird modes for the combiner torso.
Are ppl really that upset about that? The two separate modes of the original only look okay and the CW version killed it with that torso mode.

Did you get Megatron, Arcee, Doubledealer and Snapdragon?
He even got Orbital and Wingjack and they don't come out until TF:Galaxy drops in 2023.

Gorgeous looking figure. I particularly like the Lynx. Enjoying these commander class figures. Heres hoping for a Star Saber or maybe a Road Caeser made of three voyager size brainmasters.

The Combiner version wasn't horrible, I actually like it, the torso mode looks cool. I liked messing with it and transforming it. That said, it was too small for who he is and is getting replaced by this one.
I think if you bend the grey attachment point for the wings they'll stay stable instead of flopping down.

It was this dude or metroplex when they first came out I chose metroplex. Kinda liking all these new versions tho. The one I always wanted was omega supreme and fortress maximus. Cant wait till they make a four foot combiner with a two foot body a foot and a half legs and a eight in head ,six inch antennae and a two foot shooting blaster,thatll be awesome!!
Fans: eeeuuugh why does he have the figures already??
Three reasons
1. The figures are made in Japan: And he lives in the UK so he's closer
2. Sponsors: He is sponsored by a number of popular UK and even US online toy stores so they can get their hands on these figures ahead of time and send em out early to him
3. First thoughts: Due to his popularity and full interest in mainline transformers, he is sent these figures before mainline release to kind of give a first taste and opinion on the figures before they go on retail so they can fix any problems he finds with them and guarantee the most sales for these figures.. After all you are going to actually buy a figure you ACTUALLY WANT right?
Is the UK actually closer to Japan? I've always thought that the US west coast was closer, if not the same.

Besides, logically speaking, they are both islands so they are never attached.
Returning to the main topic, UK and US are at about the same distance from Japan.
Checking the map, you will find West coast of US is actually the closest.

Question- when the shuttle part of Skylynx takes off from his launching base mode, the base part joins it shortly by flying as well by some method?
The two tails on the Lynx mode bother me because they don’t add anything in base mode.
