I bought the MOST EXPENSIVE Electric Dirt Bike I could find

  • I bought the most expensive electric dirt bike I could find in my area. It's the Electric Motion Escape R. On the company website, they bill this as an off road, free riding, touring dirt bike. We'll have to see about that. I have a lot of questions about how all this electric stuff is going to work, or not work.
Let's be honest about something though, this is more of a trials bike than anything. It's pretty fun to mess around with around the house and do balance drills with, and other trials type stuff. Whether or not it's really a capable bike in the off road world, we'll explore a little bit in this video and in future content on it.

Hi Kyle, you made some good points. I too had my screen tear. Its poorly designed. I got another from them, free but its no better. I gave them feedback. I never thought it would be much fun in your area. Its not made for that stuff. Take it to the nastiest technical trails or actually NO trails, trail blazing.. where the trees barely allow you to pass and the incline barely lets you stand. Tight rocks. Example, Hatfield McCoy's or something and it shines. Its lighter than every 2 stroke i know and maintains better traction. Where 5 mph feels fast..You'll be glad your on it in that stuff. Like every bike, it shines in its element. I had a blast last summer in super tight rocky loggy deep woods, trail blazing. West Virginia, upstate NY.

My electric motion epure race is the best bike I have ever owned. I ride it every day for an hour. It has hundreds of hours on it. I have done practically zero maintenance on it. The neighbours don't complain because it is silent. The power is adjustable so I can let beginners ride it. My ktm gets ridden far less often, costs a fortune/ huge amount of time to maintain. I ride my em 10 times as much. I charge it night. I wonder why you didn't think of these things, what else didn't you think of? Are your other reviews missing important information?

Also, the battery does get better with conditioning. It also needs to be fully charged after every use. When enjoying in it's element I wear out way before it does. Again, in no way is it going to work in the wide open trails. I agree, once doing 25mph, it's got little grunt to pull it up. I love the super sketchy rocky tight deep woods trail blazing where your going places no ones ever..been. crawling over logs, rocks, places that are hard to walk. It will go places where all other bikes would be way harder to get in with.

You say you were trying to be positive, but you clearly were doing everything possible to mock and be as negative as you could towards electric motorcycles. Clearly without even wasting the money (if you truly did buy that bike), there was no way it was going to meet your expectations of the type of ride you like to do and comparing it to gas motorcycles.
I’ve been riding and racing at a high-level gas motorcycles my entire life and I love them. But I also can’t wait to add the Stark to my collection if and when it becomes available. so let me tell you a few positives I have with electric motorcycles and maybe you can focus on some of these in your next Electric Bike review.
First off, 15 years ago I taught my daughters how to ride motorcycles using the electric Oset trials bikes. They were an amazing tool for teaching my daughters how to ride. We could ride them in the front yard, the backyard, the driveway, the street, the sidewalk, the local park, in a parking lot, the school down the street you name it. And nobody blinked an eye or got pissed off because of the noise or called the police.
Second those electric trials Bikes taught my daughters something that is very difficult to teach new riders and that is how to ride standing up. when I moved them to gas motorcycles they already had good technique and were comfortable riding. In fact my oldest daughter at 21 is a factory sponsored mountain bike racer traveling the world getting paid to race and ride mountain bikes. I look back at those early days of riding the electric trials bikes as another tool that helped hone her skills. And the beauty is we didn’t have to load up and go anywhere.
Secondly in my town of Flagstaff Arizona, years ago the county banned operation of all off road vehicles in a circular motion (tracks) on private property under 10 acres. Over 10 acres you would have to get a special use permit which they will not give you.
This came about because of the number of motocross tracks that were popping up in residential areas on 2 acre properties. The biggest culprit was the noise, obviously dust was second. In addition to the Oset trials bikes, I had a small course on our 2 acre property that I would let my daughters ride the gas powered Honda 50 on, it really didn’t make enough noise or dust to matter. I argued at these county meetings the positives of my kids riding dirt bikes supervised and in the safety of our property. I argued that these bikes made very little noise dust especially if if it was watered or it had rained, but it didn’t matter they were banned right along with the loud for 450 four strokes, the damage was already done.
So I see electric dirt bikes has a great tool to get new riders involved by being able to ride in areas where noise is an issue.
Hell we may even see indoor motorcycle riding and training facilities kinda like the modern go kart track. Have you ever been to an indoor electric go kart racing facility? So much fun and such a better experience than when they were gas powered go carts.
I’m looking forward to my Stark because I can practice skills and screw around on my property and near my property in a way more stealthy manner. I’ve been known to link trails together primarily for mountain bike riding, but I’ve often used my dirt bike which can get me in trouble. The Electric Bike will let me do this again in a more stealthy manner.
Anyway, I just happen to be one that thinks there’s room for both gas and electric motorcycles and cars for that matter. I’ll be burning fossil fuel for the rest of my life but in the meantime, I’m going to enjoy the new technology of electric dirt bikes and even possibly automobiles as an addition to my gas bikes, not as a replacement.
There’s so many possibilities for electric motorcycles if you open your brain a little and look at both the positives and not just the negatives.

I watched this and he obviously has done no research on electric bikes at all. 18 miles of range sounds about right if riding fairly fast desert type riding(above 2nd gear) on a bike made for technical 1-2 gear riding. I have a moddified surron with KO controller and it has the ability to tune how much torque it puts out every 500 rpm between 0-100% and I dont have any settings over 60% of what it is capable of as it would just loop out pretty much instantly with one hard jab. Oh and to make it iven better you can get a surron with battery, controller, and a few other mods and it would be about $7k but honestly the stock bike is a blast and way more of flowy mtb feel vs mine thats modded for woods racing. I get about 35-40 miles out of mine riding trails like his and my wife would get close to 60-70 just putting around with my battery that is over twice the capacity of what he has in the EM

The other is a modified sur-ron with the falcon controller and a lightspeed 72v battery that hangs out a bit. It's only pushing like 12.5kw but wants to kill you doing power wheelies over 40 no problem with full size moto tires on it. Neither will go much above 50 mph though, so my 380 two stroke still eats their lunch. • @knobbytrails577
    @knobbytrails577 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The EM Escape isn't meant for enduro riding and if you ride it that way expect around 20mls of battery "juice" in the most conservative mode, not more. Yet for tight and technical trail riding at slow speed the battery can give you around 30mls before dropping below usable, which at low speeds means a few hours of fun. I've got one and I love it as much as I hate it 😅. It's expensive for sure, but electric (true) motorbikes are still a relatively niche market, which pushes the price. Still, electric motors are incomparably better than petrol engines in every possible respect. Their current (and indeed major) issue is with today's batteries, which discharge quickly and take time to recharge; and which current technology makes them not too environment-friendly either if we consider their overall lifecycle, from production to disposal. All that said, the EM - like anything electric - is not a bike for every season and purpose, it's a specialized tool to have fun with tight technical stuff, and having a seat makes it more versatile than a purely trials bike. If that's what one likes doing then that bike shines, but if you like typical enduro then forget it. I used to own also a few gas bikes but since I tried electric I sold most of them and I'm not looking back to the insane amount of maintenance that those specialized dirt machines require. At 61 my life starts looking too short for wasting my time that way and I've now downsized to one Honda CRF300L as a general purpose "adventure" bike, one Beta Xtrainer 300, which I share with my son, for occasional true enduro, and finally the EM Escape for shortish but *very* enjoyable technical riding. At this point I rather prefer shorter but possibly more frequent outdoors rather than spending more time fiddling with oil changes, filter cleaning, piston replacements, etc, etc, ...

I feel like this video was a huge waste of time. Kyle was riding this bike in flowy single track.

Don't think of the electric as a replacement for your gas bike, the electric is for tight technical steep trails and goofing around in areas you'd piss people off on a noisy bike. I don't understand your power complaints, were you using the RED map? Or you weren't using the clutch? It does have flaws, the battery meter is horrible. And the range is not ideal. 20 miles in AF canyon is about as far as you want to plan on riding, (25 miles is pushing your luck) ... but overall, I just couldn't disagree more with you, on nasty gnarly trails the EM is my favorite bike. Its light , playful, peppy. FUN! Whatever skills I can demonstrate on my GasGas 300, I can do better on that Electric. But I also don't think its the right bike for many trails. Its not for long desert trail rides on the flat. Its not for WOT screaming around the whole time. But spend some more time on it. Take it on the 5 Miles of Hell or something gnarly, I bet you will like it way more on trails like that.

You did no research on the bike and you made it clear that you had no clue, only that it had a clutch(only needed in extreme enduro which you dont really do). That said you used the wrong tool for the job, using a motor tuned for low speed low rpm for fast flowing trails means you are using it in a rpm range where its efficiency is horrible as it was not designed for it. For desert riding no electric bike will be the right tool, they are better for flowing trails or slow technical or track use when you push hard for 20min then the race is over and you are burnt. I get 35-40 miles running enough power and torque to loop out the bike above 30mph anytime bc get this... it was tuned for it.
