Same here. I ride mine through the school grounds where I teach at as well. It is awesome doing urban stuff. Sold my WR450F to get my first trials bike.
You mentioned all the things that interest me about this bike a) it's quiet & you can practice without annoying the neighbours; b) it's like having 3 bikes in 1 - as a trials newbie I won't outgrow the bike as my skills develop. I can just change modes; & c) the extra money spent on the initial purchase compared to other brands is saved on not having to buy fuel & perform engine maintenance. I had a play on one recently and it was very responsive off the throttle, particularly in red mode. The clutch seemed to work just like a normal hydraulic clutch, though not needed very often. I was unaware of the lower ground clearance until now though.

In the other side the low engine braking (nearly no engine braking) iis just a matter of getting used to using the rear pedal more. Not a real problem once you are using ths bike usually.. Other question not mentioned its the very good range of the battery. And easy way to improve it's performace it's is using a little battery, half could be enogh for a complete rrond and previously to the second round yo can change it quickly. Probably you will save 4 kg there...andplaced in a very hgh position...

@TrialTube regarding your comment about the lack of ground clearance. I did some research and the EM actually has more ground clearance than several other manufacturers such as Sherco and Beta. Without researching them all, the only one I found that had more ground clearance by 5mm was Gas Gas.
Interesting stuff, maybe the ground just magically moved up when I rolled off something on it then? Seriously (all joking aside) I just did a real world test with a Vertigo and a Montesa as well as the EM. But glad you got involved 👍👍👍

Great honest review. I also want to thank you for briefly acknowledging that lithium mining is of concern. There is no "free lunch" in the choices we face, but there are better and worse choices and it is important to be informed as we head into the unknown.

I am considering getting a trials bike so I can practice in my backyard and get better control for when I go offroading with my CRF300 Rally. @@TrialTube I have to admit, I never considered myself one of those bikers that would care about engine noise but having watched quite a few videos with electric bikes... the sound of the electrical engine annoys me a lot :D But... better it annoys me than the neighbours :p
@@TrialTube I understand how it's very important for a gas powered bike. But Your response is just words, that doesn't answer the question. Please explain how a lanyard makes any sense on an electric bike. Other than FIM. They are like a 3 year old with a hammer. Everything is a nail.
@@maximusmiles8435 Without words we would be like all the other lifeforms.... As for it making sense, I get your meaning that without a pilot the bike wouldn't necessarily continue to run. However the lanyard is a requirement for competition so therefore is required. Making sense to be fitted. I don't know how else I can explain that to you?
On a serious note... ... Not clearly stating the battery lifespan based on cycles it can charge and discharge is naughty. That's where the biggest cost will come in when the battery needs replacing. If they don't communicate properly, promise product support for X years, they could kill their second hand market before it's even got started.
They do, just that Danny didn’t. Bought one on Wednesday, 5000 charges, so once a week will be 96 years. I’ve not had any bike, road or dirt, longer than 2 years. Me and my mate had 4-5 hours riding at Inch Perfect and both finished with 54%. Been riding around the garden, without bothering the neighbours, the last couple of nights, dropped to 48% so plugged it in (for the first time) and took about 90 minutes to get back to 100%.
@@stuartcmorrison cheers for the reply. I should have googled it myself first. My daughter has an electric pit bike (admittedly quality is inferior to emotion) and battery got water ingress. Finding a replacement was a nightmare. I hope standards are formed to ensure issues can be quickly resolved and maintain consistent costs, for end users.
I think this is mostly great the 3 bikes in 1, the less maintenance and the technology in general including the lack of noise can be beneficial in some areas to some people. But having owned a KTM freeride, I will say this about E bikes, the Battery life is just not there in reality it is about 1/2 of what the manufacturer says it is, granted on a trials bike, it should last longer because generally you are not flogging it about. Now on to the battery, batteries go bad, tool manufacturers cant even get their batteries to last, and replacements are always quite expensive, so if one has to spend 2500 every 3-4 years for a replacement battery because it went bad, wont take a charge or doesnt last as long as when new, then is it really worth it? couple that with who knows in 3 years if this company will be in business, look at Alta great bikes but no longer and I personally have 2 friends who cant ride their 10,000 bikes because yes their batteries went bad and they cant seem to source a new replacement Now on to is it good for the sport of trials? I have to say yes and no, on the basic level, it gives people an easier riding experience and lessens the curve on some things, Lack of noise will lend itself to being able to be used in many places including indoors, But make no mistake, people will still complain, people dont like to see other people having fun and will complain on that basis alone, instead of dust, they will say it creates dust, destroys natural vegetation, creates erosion, causes injury to others, displaces turtles and ground squirrels you name it they will try to use it. The big thing as I see it, is this, since I can remember Trials has been referred to as the Ballet of the moto world, and the riders as the most skilled and this is because of their Balance, brake, throttle clutch control, proper gear selection, mastery and being able to become 1 with their bike, with this bike, you take away the need to master these principles and only build off of what you have to work with which is throttle and brake with a use it if you need to clutch. sure riders will be able to perform the same or similar but are they actually perfecting at the sport? are they actually good riders? You can take a trials rider and place them on any bike and they will advance and do incredible is the adoption of the Gun it and go bike a wise choice for the sport? I think its great, I would own one, I would ride one, but I sure would not want it to be my only option in the future.

Some trial events require road work. Are these bikes road legal? can you insure them? I know there seems to be some confusion on this subject with the police, they dont seem to fond of them. From what i'm informed the police confiscate them Granted road events are few and far between but at £8k it's worth a mention
I dont know they said 4 stroke was the future and we are still riding 2 strokes now they say electric is the future and we will prob still be riding 2 strokes. But are they more environmentally friendly when you take into account the batteries. Beta are suppose to be going fuel injected next year from riding the vertigo I think its a great idea. but the big question is would you rather spend 6000 on a standard beta and save 2k. Which could change your bike for another year even the standard vertigo is a brave bit cheaper.
The brakes squeak because they are clean and work well. As for any rattles etc it rode and was tight. I think it’s just the sounds we wouldn’t usually hear with an engine.
Sold mine after 4 weeks …. Running out of power when everyone is having fun is not good , 600nm of torque is just terrible , ground clearance is shocking , no engine break going down massive hills is scary …..green mode is for a child and never used it , blue won’t go up a steep hill climb ! Add an ‘underbar’ FRB (fixed regenerative braking) button- and it works fabulous on steep, slick downhills. Great braking plus charging up the battery a bit.
Hi Mark, just bought an Epure Race with the clutch. Do you know if the FRB button works on that model, and do you purchase it from EM / Inch Perfect Trials? Loving the bike, and the fact that it is so quiet is great.
@@smoky2stroke Yes, it will work. The factory FRB is just like the ‘mode’ button, but wired differently. I made an ‘underbar’ setup that works way, way better. No need to unwrap your thumb to activate, just move it over a few mm. Of course it is not ‘approved’ - but it is a very simple momentary button that connects to pins. Not a big deal. If the factory one was like the one I made, it would be a LOT more useful. Plus is is much, much higher quality

Try it balance the bike no clutch throttle input vs dabbling them and wsrch the time difference.
Like your sense of humor.
Cheers dude!
I am considering getting a trials bike so I can practice in my backyard and get better control for when I go offroading with my CRF300 Rally.
Would the skills/control from such an electric bike translate to a regular combustion engine bike?
Electric would mean I don't annoy the neighbours but I do want something that will increase my skill set on a "regular bike" :)
It will transfer but the throttle it a little weird without there being any noise
@@TrialTube I have to admit, I never considered myself one of those bikers that would care about engine noise but having watched quite a few videos with electric bikes... the sound of the electrical engine annoys me a lot :D
But... better it annoys me than the neighbours :p
Great review!
Thanks Bud and remember sharing is caring!
New helmet danny?
Rotations of many mate 🤣
The price is excellent considering how much £££££££££££££ emtb are.
Very true

It really is a good bow hunting bike. Farmers don't mind it.
Why do you need a lanyard on an electric bike?
Still a very important safety feature and something that is required at World level by the FIM.
If you fall off and the throttle is stuck in mud the bike will continue to run, that’s when you or helpers get fingers caught in sprockets and spokes.
Never have i wanted an electric bike any less after watching this.
On a serious note...
... Not clearly stating the battery lifespan based on cycles it can charge and discharge is naughty. That's where the biggest cost will come in when the battery needs replacing. If they don't communicate properly, promise product support for X years, they could kill their second hand market before it's even got started.
I tested the battery life and it was llllooooonnnnnggggg
@@TrialTube I get a single charge. It's how long will those LiON cells last.
Danny you looked like you didn’t enjoy riding it and it looked hard work to ride, the future of trials????? Not for me I’m afraid, enjoyed the vlog 👍👍
It was a weird
I think I need more time on it
Vlog a full trial in it see how it is to live with for the day, just an idea ??
I think this is mostly great the 3 bikes in 1, the less maintenance and the technology in general including the lack of noise can be beneficial in some areas to some people. But having owned a KTM freeride, I will say this about E bikes, the Battery life is just not there in reality it is about 1/2 of what the manufacturer says it is, granted on a trials bike, it should last longer because generally you are not flogging it about. Now on to the battery, batteries go bad, tool manufacturers cant even get their batteries to last, and replacements are always quite expensive, so if one has to spend 2500 every 3-4 years for a replacement battery because it went bad, wont take a charge or doesnt last as long as when new, then is it really worth it? couple that with who knows in 3 years if this company will be in business, look at Alta great bikes but no longer and I personally have 2 friends who cant ride their 10,000 bikes because yes their batteries went bad and they cant seem to source a new replacement
Now on to is it good for the sport of trials?
Incredible comment and thanks for the time! As well as you view. You raise some great points!
@@TrialTube Thank you, I enjoy your videos keep up the great work. I would love to see a bare beginners video from you, "so you got a trials bike now what" suggestions on progression, drills, etc there is not much info on that out there
Sweet...some Friday night viewing
Great vid but compared to an engine bike it looks seriously jerky a long way to go yet I think
no it is not - it is super smooth - i rarely use the clutch unless i want to launch - it does take a while to get used to but now I will never go back
It’s not bad at all, it just has its own style of power delivery. It’s not really comparable to anything but itself.
Hello, would you recommend the 2020 model as well? Thanks for the video! (subscried)
Hello!!! Also thank you!! Honestly I have tried one although the 2021 machine was a pleasure to ride also!! Thanks for the support btw and don’t forget to give us a share about 👍👍
Plants love us chucking carbon dioxide into the air, it's how they grow👍🤣
So true
Well I will keep that in mind as I want them to thrive!
Feel so good
Some trial events require road work.
Are these bikes road legal? can you insure them?
I know there seems to be some confusion on this subject with the police, they dont seem to fond of them. From what i'm informed the police confiscate them
Granted road events are few and far between but at £8k it's worth a mention
Great point and I am gonna have to do some digging on this one!
Which could change your bike for another year even the standard vertigo is a brave bit cheaper.
cool clip 🤙
🚨 It sounds like it’s falling apart, lack of? Grease fittings? That would drive me nuts
Poor brakes?
The brakes squeak because they are clean and work well. As for any rattles etc it rode and was tight. I think it’s just the sounds we wouldn’t usually hear with an engine.
......but that brake noise......
Nowt wrong when they sound like that, means they are polished!!!!
Sold mine after 4 weeks …. Running out of power when everyone is having fun is not good , 600nm of torque is just terrible , ground clearance is shocking , no engine break going down massive hills is scary …..green mode is for a child and never used it , blue won’t go up a steep hill climb ! It’s a big no from me 👎🏼
I’ve got a 301rr montesa now … proper bike
Different folks, different strokes 👍👍
Excellent review by yourself , like all your reviews 👍🏼👍🏼 … Good fun bike and an expensive learning curve for myself ! ⚡️

@@TrialTube well by mis pronouncing the name, it kinda makes u take it less serious so whatever back to you - be professional - didn't realize you were a bit of a dick sorry
Add an ‘underbar’ FRB (fixed regenerative braking) button- and it works fabulous on steep, slick downhills. Great braking plus charging up the battery a bit.
Interesting!
@@improvsax Cheers!
Hmmmm, don’t think I’ll dump me Gas Gas just yet....bro, you didn’t mention how long you can ride the bike? Can it last a long trial? Doesn’t seem very re active? Like slow on suspension etc?
Not being anti electric bike, but to many unknowns for me, and no lightweight either. Gamble at 8k..!
It does last a whole trial (easily) tried it a few days later
I’ll need a bit more convincing dude!
It is the lightest in its class.. and the heaviest. #nocompetition 😅
Haha very true everyone else is missing a trick!
Coukd not watch any lore with those squealing brakes!!

I am hearing you about the noise. When you are the bike though you forget about it - or at least I do. It is nice being in the bush with some peace and quiet. The best bit is no-one knows you are riding. I can ride at 7 am on a Sunday morning and no-one hears me.

To me it sure seems to clank and clunk a lot.
That’s because there is no engine noise

These bikes are complete tanks waaay over built , 75 fffing kg for a trials bike 🤣 , as a bicycle trials rider for 20yrs , i could design a moto trials specifically for bicycle trials riders ( freaky power to weight ratio men ) and they would probably make current moto trails riders look lame..id exceed these bikes performance with 35kg to play with 😐 ,
1.bicycle wheels are enough on bigger axles ,
2. Must have very light battery..10mins of juice then swap for another IS completely fine we would put up with that and carry half dozen spares in ruck sack..
3..shorter suspension less heavy duty bulky frame & all components.....my bicycle trials is 18lb full bike & can survive 14ft drops while have NO suspension!.
As a bicycle trials rider of 28 years I think you are missing the point. These are coming into the market for the Moto trials community and not the bicycle trials community. (We have enough problems with people being confused with our sport and over sized BMX).
I will be doing a “real” push bike trials episode coming soon.
