Hi Doctor, your videos are very informative and I'd like to say thank you very much. I am an IMG doctor, graduated from NUIG, Ireland and finished my internship in Malaysia and currently serving as a Medical Officer in Malaysia. I am planning to relocate and practice in Australia via the Standard Pathway, I am informed that I need to get AMC Certificate for me to get the provisional license from MBA and was wondering if the AMC certificate has a validity date/expiry date meaning, if I were to pass for AMC certificate and planning to apply for a job in Australia like 2-3 years down the line, is it possible to use the same AMC Cert?

There is no expiry for the AMC

Is it hard as an img to get interviews in the Northern territory? I'm not in Australia but I have relatives in Darwin so I planned to apply there (Royal Darwin Hospital) as an rmo after I pass the AMC 1.

Easier than most other places. But still hard.

Dr. Anthony. How can a doctor completing his MD in Psychiatry in India increase his chances of getting comparable status via Specialist Pathway? You had said in previous videos that most Doctors from India fare poorly in the Specialist pathway and only small no. of them manage to get substantial comparable status.

Do more than the 3 years of MD training is my top tip. Do some extra Diplomas or Fellowships.

Sir I saw a post on reddit that a plastic surgeon in australia gross about 1.4 million dollars from private practice, but after overhead costs and taxes he takes home 380000 dollars . is this the same for other specialized surgeons? Please reply. Nice video.

So firstly, $380k after tax is a pretty good take home pay. It's more than any public specialist would make here.
Without knowing how this person calculated $1.4m from private practice it's hard to comment. But that does seem like a lot of overhead. They would only need about 3 staff max to support their private rooms. There's the rental cost for having rooms and some IT and equipment costs.
But I can't really understand how this all amounts to about $800k or so in costs. Unless they have a mortgage on their premises in which case they benefiting from this long term.

Can I find a job in Australia as doctor only by just completing an overseas internship ? Without having any further work experience?

    • @CareerDoctor

I generally recommend a couple of years working elsewhere minimum first
