Nicely done! I am finishing up the painting of my job boat. I got the same eva foam! Going to put a casting deck on the front, and a compartment in one of the benches.
That's a sweet little boat. Flooring looks good to me. The white stripe is fine. You could have some fun with it and stencil some wave design, or as you said a fish or various fish shapes native to your state to give it some character. The world is your oyster when it comes to personalizing your boat. It's great that you are enjoying your project. Take care.
Great video! Very helpful. The boat looks amazing! great job. Would love to know how its holding up after different segments of time. Thank you for the post! 👏👏👏
It held up pretty well but honestly the adhesive wasn't as good as hydro turf i've used. I'd recommend using a better adhesive if you decide to go with it, the material itself seemed good though.
Yea the black stripe would be better, regardless, very nice build man! I am doing a 1966 14 footer right now, just washed and prepped for paint this week. Painting it a silverish gray, I got the same eva foam as you did. Thank you for sharing and helping me with my project.
Great video, thanks! I am wanting to redo the carpeting my boat may switch to this. I wonder how the longevity is compared to the outdoor carpeting, install sure looks easier.
If you get a name-brand eva foam like Hydro-Turf or Seadek it will last quite a while. The more budget end of the eva foam will get you a couple seasons. I agree it has its benefits in application, the nice thing about carpet is its easier to hide imperfections in your install, a bad cut with eva foam and you'll notice it pretty easy.
I bought some indoor/outdoor carpet from Lowes to cover my boat seats. In less than 2 years it's literally turning to powder. If I rub my hand across it I make a mini dust storm! The plywood under it has warped as well, so I'm never using carpet of any kind in a boat ever again!
Looks real good. Im going to be decking out my new jon boat here soon.Trying to get ideas.I was a little hesitant on using the EVA foam afraid it will lose adhesion and start peeling up after a while of use. Im wondering if it would be more beneficial to spray the 3M adhesive spray on the wood before installing the foam. My last boat i did i used carpet on the deck but i really like the looks of the foam. Great build and hope to be starting mine soon !!
If you are using cheap eva foam from Amazon for example, spraying the 3M down first isn't a bad idea. If you are using a brand new eva like hydroturf, seadeck or a brand that uses 3m adhesive already, you should be fine to skip that step. The kind I used here would be on the cheaper end, so far it hasnt peeled up at all but it didn't grip quite as firmly as hydroturf I've used in the past.
Likening it all sofar but got to question the Velcro isn’t the foam going to lift the floorboard and float away I may be wrong but there is a lot more surface area of the foam that’s going to float and not much surface area of Velcro
That's a great point to think about it. If the boat were to capsize it wouldn't be an issue but if it gets swamped how much flotation would it take to lift the floors, I wonder?
Hey man I love your work love the videos and keep up the good work. I have a boat just like this one are you interested in just charging for the upgrade? I would love to get one just like the one in this video
Looks like shit. If u didn't have enough u should of waited and did it right. But it's ur boat. Keep up the great content. And much love to ya from Maryland❤❤❤.

@@mvboutdoors thank you very much! 👍
That velcro idea is pretty awesome i painted my flat is the same color except my white stripe is just on the little bump out
The Velcro worked way better than I expected! That's a cool idea on the smaller white stripe.
@mvboutdoors to kinda break up all that gray and my trailer is the same color, I have treated fence boards for my floor right now
How does the foam stick to the wood ? After having it installed for a while any problems with it?
You did a good job .. I’m gonna try this on mine . Thank you
It takes some practice but once you get the hang of it, its really not bad. Good luck with your project!
Thank you 👍
looks great! go with your idea about keeping the white and gpijg with black decals to tie it all in
That's what I think I'll do, no need to repaint!

Looks amazing I like it
It shrinks in the sun, so before you cut, let it set out in sun for a while.

@@mvboutdoors Appreciate the info !!
Has the EVA foam held up? Has the adhesive backing been enough to keep everything down?
@@carterhillfarm I had some minor lifting of the edges where it overhung, I used some spray adhesive to keep it down and no issues after that.

Unfortunately I am not able to take on projects at this time. Perhaps in the future!
Im using .090 aluminum on my floor, would a quality eva foam stick fine to it, or i was thinking of marine vinyl flooring.
Yeah for sure, as long as you prep the surface first eva foam would stick perfect.
What L&W did you get for this boat? 1437 so what did you get exactly?
It was this listing just a different color, I believe it has dimensions.
