    A year later and I used your video to do my install today. Took me about an hour because I took my time hiding all of the wires. My biggest fear was adding the taps correctly and that was the easiest part because of your video. Thanks for such a thorough video

    Watched both vids and I am impressed by your detail and clarity. No annoying music or background noise either so it was very easy to hear and understand you. Great job. I just bought the A129 DUO for my Mazda 3 2019. I forgot to purchase the fuse tap so now I have to wait another day or two for that to arrive, ty for the reminder.

      Thanks for the feedback and Im glad this video could help. I dont make too many installation videos but I defintely tried my best here to be clear and edit concisely because I felt like it could be helpful to many people since some of the videos I found were somewhat confusing. Best of luck with your install and I hope you enjoy having the dashcams as much as I do 👍🏻

    Your's is literally the only installation video for this cam I've been able to find that actually indicates that the red wire is for always on and the yellow is for acc. Thank you - I've been putting off installing this for more than a year because I couldn't determine that one piece of information.

    This video was amazing! Just finished hardwiring my VIOFO A129 into my Honda Accord and I can't believe how easy you helped make it! I almost paid someone $120 to do this, but with your video I got it done in 30-45 minutes. Super simple!
    Trickiest part was preparing the fuse tap metal pieces and that's just because my pliers were wonky. Everything else was a breeze and I appreciate how detailed you explained things. Perfect pacing. Thank you!

    Since I recently obtained a 129 duo I've been pouring over videos of folks' installations into their vehicles. Most of them are OK, but some of them are exceptional to instruction, detail and camera work. Yours fits that category of a nice piece of work. Thanks very much. for such a nice installation video.

    I would wait on heat shrinking until you have the wires ran to wherever the fuse is incase you have to feed the wires through some tight spaces, then when you are at the fuse panel connect the fuse tap then heat shrink it.. You were very informative. Nice job. Thanks!

    Thanks for the great video. Great job. I also have a 2017 CR-V. This got me started on installing a Viofo Plus Duo. I ran the rear camera cable a bit differently. I do not feel comfortable running the rear camera cable via the headliner where the side curtain airbags are. I ran the rear camera cable down the A-pillar, then down to the driver side front and back door sills, then up behind the door weather stripping to the headliner in the cargo area. I was able to fish the rear camera cable through the wiring rubber tubing connecting to the tailgate. As Anthony mentioned, it is quiet narrow. It took me over 30 minutes to fish it through. I taped the camera cable to a long wire, then slowly pulled it through. I had to work at it to get the cable through.
    One caveat. The rear camera cable that came with the kit is not long enough if routing via the door sills. I had to order a 8 meter cable.

      @AnthonyMo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome to hear your install went well! I was wiring it the same way but I found that the wire was short like you said so ended up running it the way I did in the video. I figured running it in the headliner should be alright because its not in the way of the curtains...or I assume

    Hey Anthony, thank you so much for this very helpful video. I have a 2017 CRV just like yours, and I'm trying to install it exactly the same way. Your video is the only one that is thorough and explaining every single little thing, thank you for your efforts in making it.
    I'm having an issue getting power to my A139 that has 3 camera's. I got the fuse taps in the proper places also on the hot side just as you suggested, even in the exact same orientation, and it's grounded on a bolt under my steering wheel, yet I cannot get power to it, even if i change the voltage between 12.0V-12.4V. What's interesting is I've tried two hardwired kits, in case it one was faulty, but both did not work on my CRV. I got one to work on my Civic, but neither of the two on my CRV. I know this is very little to go off of, but would you mind giving me advice, or pointing me to a direction as to what I did wrong?

    • @ViofoDashcamOfficial
      @ViofoDashcamOfficial ปีที่แล้ว

      It is better to use a multimeter to test, and then choose a fuse that can supply constant power to connect the red wire. Then choose a fuse that can detect the ACC ignition to connect the yellow cable.

    Great video! Straight to the point, easy to follow, and very informative. Couple of questions though, if you don’t mind. a) How small should an accessory fuse be when using a 20,15, or 10 slot? Can I use the same size fuse as an accessory fuse? b) My camera will turn off on parking mode even if it hasn’t been running for 24 hours. At times it’s a black screen with a couple of lights on or none and not recording. c) May you share what settings your camera is on and what voltage for the hardwiring kit? Thank you in advance.

    What is the reason for plugin them both, i saw other videos with different hardwire kits with only one wire for the Battery and ground wire.

    • @AnthonyMo
      @AnthonyMo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When you have both acc and battery plugged in, it detects that theres more current and it will put the device into regular operation mode. When you turn off the car, the acc turns off so it knows to change to parking mode because there is less current. The benefit of this is that you can set the parking mode to motion detection or time lapse to record longer/use less battery than dashcams that dont go into parking mode, or dashcams that need to manually be put into parking mode. To sum up, its for convenience and to unlock the automatic parking mode capability of the dashcam

      Just to add. At least in my Accord sedan, there's a little gap in the back roof plus some room in the rear A pillar that you can just sort of stuff the wire into (or wrap with zip ties and gently push in). You just feed the wire in from the roof gap into the pillar if that makes sense. That way, I was able to get the wire very tight and the rear camera to the highest mount position. Just make sure the camera is between the lines on the window!

    Hey for the fuse taps, do you use 5A fuse taps for both or is it dependent on the fuse that you are tapping? I’m thinking of just buying a 10 pack of 5A fuse taps but I want to make sure if that will work. Great video btw :)

    • @minuxe6337
      @minuxe6337 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, I'm not the OP but I just used this video to install it on my Honda Accord. I used 5A fuses for the fuse taps and it worked perfectly. I think the only thing that matters is that the new fuse you use is LESS than the original fuse. 5A should be perfect since a dash cam only draws a tiny bit of power anyways. I used the same fuses as the video:
      1. Daylight Running Lights for yellow (ACC, only on when car starts). The original fuse was 10A. I put a 5A next to it for the dash cam fuse tap.
      2. Driver Power Seat for red (battery, always on). The original fuse was 20A. I also used a 5A in the fuse tap for this.
      I set the voltage switch thing to 12.0V. My dash cam works perfectly in parking mode for front and rear and stays on when the car is off.

    Another great video! Questions for you: does the CRV have side air curtains? Will the wire running along the headliners be a safety concern if so? Asking because I’m going to do the installation in my RDX and it’s pretty similar to the CRV.

    • @AnthonyMo
      @AnthonyMo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you mean by in the A pillar, the CRV does have airbags/air curtains there. I cant really say whether its a safety issue because I'm just a DIY'er but I've heard people say that the wire will probably just pull out easily if the airbag deploys (not obstructing the air curtain deployment). I personally routed the wire behind the air curtains because I didn't want it to yank the wire off my dashcam if it did go off. Also there was no airbags in my case after the A pillar in the headliner so I installed it, convinced that it would not get in the way of any airbag deployment. Hope this helps!

      Let's say you choose a 10A fuse slot in the main fuse board in the car, and you want to connect the tap there. Now you'll need to connect one fuse of 10A on the "main" connector of the tap to guard the circuit of the car that requires a 10A fuse and in the "bottom" slot of the tap you need to put a 5A or 3A or even 2A fuse to protect the circuit of the dash cam. Have you had any issues with this draining your battery? I installed a camera last week - I have the same car, similar VIOFO a229 camera, same hardwire kit, and the last two mornings my car has been dead. The only difference is that I used the driver lumbar seat adjustment rather than the drive forward/back seat adjustment for the BAT connection. I can’t figure out what’s wrong.

    • @minuxe6337
      @minuxe6337 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe your car needs a higher voltage cut off selection. Try 12.2 or even 12.4V.
      If not, your battery might not be fully charged. If you don't drive daily or only take short trips (less than 30 minutes), that might be the case. Try fully charging your battery and then retesting. You can also unplug your dash cam if you're doing something like parking for awhile in a garage or driveway that's covered by cameras anyways. For me, parking mode is mostly useful for trips to stores and stuff, since I have a hardwired security camera looking at my driveway.

      Its been a while since the install so I cant exactly remember why I didnt use the GPS mount/power port. If you were to install this you could always test that out and then put it back in the USB port if it doesnt work. A couple forum posts I'm reading say that any port works and that the camera is just easier to slide off the mount and use if it is powered through the USB port. I think having both wires on the side looks a little cleaner as well

    A qq , why didn't you use 3wire acc hard wire kit and instead used this 2wire one? Any differences using one on another? Because if I am not understanding it wrong in your given case of fuse, it won't record at parking mode?

    • @AnthonyMo
      @AnthonyMo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The 3rd wire allows it to automatically go into parking mode because it is detecting less power going to the dashcam when the car is off or something along those lines. The 2 wire hard wire kit will prpbably not automatically put the camera in parking mode, which means it would record as if the car was on (using more power and footage probably). Let me know if that makes sense 😁

    • @martinkasabov6559
      @martinkasabov6559 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe both power sources are required for the dash cam to actually work when using the hardwire kit, regardless if you enable Parking Mode or not. I just installed the kit for A129 Duo Plus and tested that very same scenario - if the red wire is not connected to constant power source - the dash cam does not power on when you turn over the engine. I always like to have the so called kill switch (manual overrride), so I added one (on/off toggle) to that red wire - now I can just flip it to off position and the cam shuts off, regardless if the engine in running or not. You just need to remember to flip it right back to ON position for the next drive...

      If the camera is on that could mean that the wires were plugged in backwards (accessory to battery and vice versa).
