    Thank you for this video, it's super detailed and answers so many questions other tutorials don't mention!
    I found the metal tips on the fuse tap piece to be a little tricky to push down, but it still only took 5 minutes. My plier work was nowhere near as clean as yours, but it still worked and fit in the plastic tube!
    I watched your other part, and really connecting the hardwire kit to the fuse taps was the most involved part, and it wasn't even that hard to follow. Everything else was a breeze.

  • @Ottonic6

    Great install... I would wait on heat shrinking until you have the wires ran to wherever the fuse is incase you have to feed the wires through some tight spaces, then when you are at the fuse panel connect the fuse tap then heat shrink it.

    @AnthonyMo can you power the unit by inserting the usb power cable from the hardwire kit to the power outlet on the gps module? this will avoid the tight cable fitting on the side of the camera unit that you are explaining around 9mins10sec in the video.

    • @AnthonyMo
      @AnthonyMo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think that is possible but the reason why I dont do that is because the dashcam will turn off if i want to release it from the GPS mount to use it. But to be honest, i never really do take it off the mount anyway

    • @minuxe6337
      @minuxe6337 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can power it this way. Either powering through the camera or GPS mount works. But VIOFO recommends powering through camera. It functionally makes no difference, as the camera will power the GPS unit or the GPS will power the camera.

    How would you know that your dash cam is working in parking mode after using hardwire kit? Should have any LED indicator on?

    • @AnthonyMo
      @AnthonyMo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, theres an LED indicating that its on when it activates

    • @minuxe6337
      @minuxe6337 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hardwired mine and it shows an icon in the upper left corner if it's in parking mode. The icon will be different depending on the parking mode you choose. When I turn off the car, the camera will go black and the recording light will stay solid red. This is because I chose low bit rate mode, which records continuously. If I press the menu button, it'll show the parking mode icon. If you choose a different mode (like auto event detection e.g. motion sensor), the recording light will be a blinking red instead when the car turns off. This means parking mode is enabled, but it's waiting for a motion event to record. Once it detects it, the light will turn solid red.
      Some models with no screen have voice notifications instead. If parking mode turns on when the car turns off, it'll say "Parking mode enabled." You can look up the Viofo support article "Has the Dashcam Entered Parking mode?" to see the different icons or what it'll look like for your camera.

    Hi , how come I did set up the camera time , but never right?

  • @Kpher
    @Kpher 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really was hoping the camera already had parking mode enabled without doing all this.
    With that being said.... How does the camera lock footages? If I get into an accident, how would the sensors know and lock vs if I ran over speed bumps. I mean it's not wired to the car yet except got the outlet 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔🤔

    • @AnthonyMo
      @AnthonyMo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, unfortunately any dashcam will need to be hardwired to be in parking mode. There should be a sensitivity setting for the G-forces that determines if footage will be locked. I dont think it should lock over speed bumps unless you have a rediculously stiff suspension. My car is on basic coilovers and it doesnt trigger locking footage.

      @@AnthonyMo ok, lost me after @10:05 haha. I have zero experience with this.
      But I have the blue ended fuse tap and I don't know what I'm doing, I connected the red wire (battery+) into the blue end of the fuse tap, but how do I close it together? Do I need something else?

    What if I wanted to wire the dash cam to the cigar lighter without wanting to use the parking mode features? Could I just wire the dash cam with the yellow wire and leave the red wire un-used? I only want the cam to turn on and off with the ignition but without having to use the actual cigar lighter port.

    • @minuxe6337
      @minuxe6337 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you have two choices. Either get a 2 wire kit (HK2) from VIOFO and only put the wire to an ACC (cigarette lighter) fuse. This will not support parking mode and will only turn on off with ignition. OR use the 3 wire kit (HK3) as shown in this video and turn off parking mode in the settings. The cam will only record on/off with the car. It will still be powered by the battery, but since it's not recording, it's essentially in "sleep mode" and draws very little power. Probably just as much as your cars built-in key fob detector.

    Whenever i feel like i want to shoot Video of both the Front doors these cameras have Option to Shoot outside at any time like a Vlogger and do not want to shoot video of (Front and inside the Rear Room) , then the SKYBLUESEA B2W & CAMSONIC ULTRA Z 2 & 3 Dash Cam Benefits if a person want to shoot a video outside the front doors sides Left & Right. Option like Rear View Mirror , would be easy to change the direction to record Multiple Angles like a Pro Photographer of both the Cams accordingly , option to Rotate , as they Rotates 180 degrees and covers the area least 160 degrees , like Rear view Mirror Angle . I love those Dash Cams .
    My suggestion to the Dash Cam Manufacturers .

    you don't need a battery pack for parking mode ? do you guys recommend a obd power cable as alternative to hardwire

    • @minuxe6337
      @minuxe6337 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do not need a battery pack, but you can use one if you'd like parking mode to go longer than a couple days without driving (to recharge the battery). Viofo doesn't recommend OBD install, they don't sell an official cable and the cams do not support parking mode with OBD port. You'd need to use the fuse box because it needs an always on fuse to power it, and an accessory fuse to track when the car is on/off (to switch to parking mode).
      Even with a battery pack, most cameras won't record longer than a few days without driving a car. If you're looking to record longer than that, either hardwire a camera in your home pointed towards your driveway, OR get a thinkware dash cam with a RADAR module that extends parking mode (can record weeks at a time, but it'll only record when an impact or motion is detected).

    • @AnthonyMo

    is the hardwire kit necessary to run the parking mode ?

      @CrisRamirezz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes

    • @minuxe6337
      @minuxe6337 ปีที่แล้ว

      To add to OP's answer, the accessory fuse (yellow wire) is why the hardwiring is necessary. The camera uses the accessory fuse to track if the car is on or off, to decide whether to enable parking mode or not.

    How do you know to add 5 extra volts? Why not ten or fifteen volts?

    • @AnthonyMo
      @AnthonyMo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I went with what was popular with other tutorials online and the 5amp fuse hasn't blown so I'm assuming it is alright and will protect the camera in case something short circuits. Its just a video on how it worked for me, but I am by no means a professional so I wouldn't be able to confidently explain why I used a 5 instead of a 2.5, 10, or 15.
      If I had to take a guess, the device uses slightly fewer than 5 amps so a 5 amp fuse allows the current to get to the camera without blowing. Lets say the camera pulls 4 amps and you used a 2.5 amp fuse, then the fuse would blow every time. Now if the camera was 4 amps and you went with a 10amp fuse, it probably wouldn't protect the device from getting too much current, resulting in a short circuit and your device getting fried. This is probably why you want to go with a 5 amp fuse because it still powers the camera without blowing itself. You could even test out lower fuses until you got a fuse that was slightly above when it would blow
