Sydney the way it should be remembered. Getting the train into the city on a saturday. I remember all that construction during the 70s and 80s. Hot summer days. My best teenage years spent here. I miss it so much. Theres no grit there anymore. I even heard they cleaned up the cross. Shame.
Up there with SRV, Gary Moore, Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zep, Eric Clapton for passion, feeling and emotions. First heard it in 1978, loved it then and nothing has changed my mind. Truley great song from an Adelaide band.
The side B of this album is one of the many mysteries of life. Is this (and this song, although its on side one🥴) Jazz?, Blues, Lounge rock? One word is for it is: perfection.
The live version of this song on Swingshift is absolutely epic with Mossy and Dave Blight trading licks. Then of course they throw another amazing take at us on the EP “You’re thirteen, you’re beautiful…” A band full of complexity and contradictions. My life time band.
I used to go see them at this time .. with a few mates.. at the `Sundowner in Punchbowl.. walk in ,grab a Jug each of Beer, Chisel came on .. Flat out till the end.. Jim drinking 2 bottles of Vodka.onstage.. they used to play this song .. What a night out ...
When i first heard this song i didnt like it much i used to call it that one bloody long song but now the more i listen to it the more i love it not only is it one of my favourite CC songs its one of my all time favourite songs ever
Ian was just 23 when this was recorded. Wonderful voice for someone so young and he had some really tastey licks on the fretboard too by that stage. I honestly reckon he should have gone to Nashville after Chisel disbanded. He would have had a magnificent career as a session guitarist.
The video brings this song to life..but his reflections of the blues are past the Cross...and once again I say to take his bluesy reflections to the harbour shore,,No time to be blue down the cross...too much stimulation..I'd say at the 7.00 minute mark.
Ihan paska video. And those who don´t know finnish language that much, I can translate that I subtly praised Mikko how neatly he has captured the spirit of this epic song in those moving pictures.
Possibly my favourite Chisel song. Is this a fan made video? I've never seen it before. I'm old enough to remember Australia in the seventies and it really did look like that. Brings back some memories.

Good times 70's-80's, 78 just got my licence and the freedom that came with it.
The footage gives me memories of 70's Sydney life!
Great original version of an awesome Aussie classic,, Love all the 60's & 70's cars in the clip too, what a time capsule bonus
Loved this gem for over 40 years and first time I've seen this clip.
Lovely bluesy track by Mossy till Barnesey let's fly .
Now that is what Art, Jazz and Blues sounds like.

So where has this been hiding ? Great song and a look back into Sydney, hasn't it changed !

Never heard this before! Nice groove.😝👊👍👏👏👏👏😎🤘
One of their early one`s... they played it all the time back then.
One of Chisel's best IMHO
I had the pleasure of working with chisel form the late seventy to early eights but this is my favourite song it's powerful.
This, Flame Trees and Bow River are my favourites - not necessarily in that order.
My favourite Chisel song (Ian Moss), and the footage of Sydney when it was great city to live in .
Yes, yes and yes

Great vocals from Mossy & Barnesy. So much raw emotion in Barnesy's voice 👍

When you could buy a 5:59 car for 400 bucks and rent a unit in Vaucluse for $75 a week. Walk home from the cross and jump on the 324 bus home.
