I imagine the convo between Aed and his ancestors had a bit where they flatly say "But he's not an Orc" And Aed tells them, "No one but an Orc can fight like he does." Or something like that.
"He is not an Orc, but he is willing to fight a war of attrition with himself every day. That state of constant, unrelenting battle is what our culture is built around and he represents it not just on a physical, but on a spiritual level as well."
"Volunteered to DM and give me a break" - The single best thing to hear. If no one else answers the call to DM eventually DMs can burn out and if people don't step up games can disappear. I've lost many a group to this so show ur DM so love and take the try. 100% of the time that DM will help you 100%
My friend decided to give GMing a try for our group as a distraction from Her own Covid worries. We rotate GMs a bit, but there was her first time ever in the GM seat. And she brought her A+ game! Two of the scenarios will forever stick in my memory as top tier e Adventurers.
Aah its always tieflings and souls that get me! This is a rad story!!! I’m glad the writers doing better with his life, i was scared will might’ve konked for a moment there. As YIRBEL LIVES, DEFIANCE IS RESTORED! Also those ancestor orcs tusks look like fancy mustaches
That was amazing! And yes this statement is so true. “No matter what this world is doing to you, fight back. Don’t let the demons destroy you. With whatever you can and however you can, don’t give up. Slay those demons and take your soul back.” Today been feeling down about a lot of things and this statement right there hits me the most. I really needed to hear this cause of feeling unsure about where my freelance art career will take me and thinking I probably won’t get anywhere with it. Been struggling hard on it this year especially since AI art is becoming massively popular, making me feel no one cares to get commissions from me anymore cause of it. I just need to keep trying and maybe someone out there will want to commission me for something. Also yes. D&D is quite the therapy for me as well in some aspects. So totally agree there.
This is real dnd. Really dnd is a thing where you can merge your soul with your character, feel what they feel, and they feel what you feel. Few people have ever gotten this extreme privilage. It may not begin my fate, but I'm glad someone got to experience it all least once.
I really enjoyed this. Especially the connection to the real life and in game correlation of his story. "Slay those demons and take your soul back", And a fantastic ending to a campaign!!!! Love the idea of going to speak to ancestors to adopt them as a patron.
This is absolutely beautiful. I am so happy to hear Anon is doing so much better now. DnD may "just" be a game, but it helps you to get out of your current life. Sure, you "just" role dice. But as a player, you feel powerful and enpowered when you manage to do something epic. And as a DM, it is just rewarding to see my players react to my homebrew story, and what they make of it. How they take to the characters and world I set up for them. It makes me feel valuable and cherished and that does wonders for my insecurities.
I was worried about what kind of tears the op was brought to. I've felt and read about far too many games that had ended in the bad kind of tears and this was a vary good breath of fresh air for me to listen to.
Yeah. It’s on PHB p197, in the box in the top-right corner. “When your current hit point total is half or more of your hit point maximum, you typically show no sign of injury. When you drop below half your hit point maximum, you show signs of wear, such as cuts and bruises.”
A triumphant return to form! Can’t wait for more wholesome, comedic stories from dnd! Especially that badass Goblin gunslinger! (True ATDND vets know who I’m talking about!)
wow. very touching. kinda sums up a lot of my thoughts on why DnD is so important to me, better than I could myself. words are not my strong suit. It's true that English is important.... but Math is importanter...
I cant express it enough, just how much i realte to this and love it!. I had similar situations mentally in my life, and hearing wholesome IRL stories, and BADASS D&D stories like this campaign is why i come to channel. Im ready for more like this instead of the Horror Stories.
the orks: not this time demon this one is one of us demon:he is a fucking tief- the orks: he is our brother! this is what i imagine the demon see as he dies
Interesting about the "split soul" concept. I'm running a half-elf bard at this time, and she can't reconcile her elven and human sides, so she has developed a split personality. One is a good chaotic "elf" and the other is a good lawful "human". I even have simple magical items that alter her appearance, so she looks one way as the "elf" and another as the "human".
While I love the horror stories I also love the good stories like this one as well Let's get some balance yeah Horror stories are a great guide for things to look out for And glory stories show the wonders dnd can provide
I remember the first time I took a step back and let one of my players be a dm. His story was simple, fun, a little cliche, but that didn't matter. We all had fun and I actually got to create my own character.
Ya know what? Random location to admit this, but I personally am not fully over my last character death. It was- unceremonious and honestly the longest-running character I’ve played, just over a year or so. Alex, my boy. May The Lady of Dreams forgive your actions in life. May she unchain your soul from the curse laid upon you. When the misty veil lifts, I hope your soul find its way into Arborea and into the hands of a place where your skills are no longer needed.
Some mechanical questions: How does a 20th level warlock have a 1st level spell slot? They scale automatically. How did he cast Misty Step, a 2nd level spell, with that 1st level slot? Did he somehow deal 375 damage in one shot or just skip narrating how the party for the demon from 375 to nearly dead?
Reminds me of the Gospel. Dying to restore someone soul and empower them for the work set before them. Becoming brothers with that dying/resurrected person upon their return. Defeating the dark being that had power over you as a result of that sacrifice. Very good stuff.
Guys like and share this one around. If you say you prefer amazing adventure stories, but you click on horror stories more and promote them more, then you're why that kind of content works. Instead be part of the solution
i mean it's purely a DM choice, but warlock powers are permanent. They cannot be taken away even if the Patron dies. Paladins have an optional rule turning them into Oathbreakers, but that's it.
I leave the drama for reality. I guess not everybody can take D&D as a game. Kids would not understand this, but the last thing adults need in their free time is more drama. Everybody have difficult things to deal with and nobody wants to add one more.
I am over joyed. Another happy ending friends there to help and a game to help in real life situations. I love dungeons and dragons for the purpose That it can help you in the darkest moments.
Not gonna lie I have been disappointed by your content lately. For a long time it has almost only been horror stories that frankly just makes me cringe. This however is exactly the kind of content I subscribed for and I hope that you will keep posting more content like this.
the drama stories are funny sometimes and all but this is the real meat and potatoes of this type of content
Especially when they involve important rolls! A DnD story just isn't complete to me without mention of at least one important roll.

A story that wasn't about DM is dumbass or player is dumbass, a nice and good one. Upgrades people, upgrades!
the more he does the night mare ones it feels like he should rename the to dnd nightmares or something similar
It's a long time since I saw that reference.
@@fuzztsimmers3415 fortunate then that this one isn't a 'nightmare'
"How did you recover?"
"I killed my previous warlock patron using the power of the ancestors of my half-orc friend who I killed and ressurected."

Great story- the OP has REAL friends, which is far more precious than any dragon's hoard.
I still kinda want that Dragon's hoard tho
@@dragonhearted3290 porque no los dos?

I prefer good stories/ heart warming stories over horror stories.
I second that

Thank you I've also missed the heartwarming stories
I dunno, I like a good mixture.
“Bad” stories seems to being in more attention overall, but yeah, we’ve been long due for a good one for awhile.

'Too sappy'? Nah, give me all the sappiness! The world can be a dark place, so it's nice to see some lights in it :)
One yeah great story! Love these heart warming stories
Just gotta say, this man has a beautiful soul.
Bloodied is still in for 5e, it isn't listed as an official mechanic, but it is mentioned under the Combat section (I believe)
Both my DM's use synonyms like "bleeding profusely" or "looking rough/hurt" but i never knew it was an actual rule.

I have heard this before! I could have sworn it was from here, but I just realized it was from Crit Crab. Still a good story.
Omg that explains everything, I was going mad trying to figure it out lmao
Thank you for telling me why I know this story!
Thank you. It was bugging me so badly!

Every time these stories choke me to tears, keep them coming!
I cannot help but wonder if this was posted before?
Still, regardless, it is nice to have wholesome stories once again.
Ok cool, I'm not the only one, thought I was going crazy for a moment there....still worth the re-listen though, love this story
I think this story was posted on Critcrab if I am not mistaken just means this happy story gets more attention to a different audience.
These are always my favorite DnD stories, the ones with real emotional weight for both the character and their player
This is the sort of story I so badly missed seeing from you.
finally, we're back to the wholesome stories.
Orc Bear Hug to the Story teller!
Had something like this. Brought my friends and I closer
Wow, 4 years ago.
I've been following you for so long!
D&D the best anti-depressent I know. No side affects, fun and it gives your mind a rest from the crappy work, unhappy life hamster wheel.
That's beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

RPG Horror Stories are fun to read and listen to... but RPG Glory Stories? They are a rare treat, but one we can unite in love.
I was about to run errands but I guess I can have my emotional rollercoaster before I head out.
Yeah, this is a good one. A well-played Warlock.

Hope to see this histories on spotify too.
I keep thinking of that episode of I.T. Crowd.

Seconded please answer this person
Assuming he spec right and had everything set up for combat as a hexblade plus good weapons a critical would have ended him from that height.
