    Ah reminds me of a Kobold, Tiefling combo. Kobold ranger was called Ino of the Outback, always wore a safari hat and wanted to pet every animal in existence no matter how deadly. Tiefling Fighter, was Vi-Vi. Who spent most her time rescuing Ino from the jaws of creatures and keeping her out of trouble.
    They had many hilarious shenanigans together. Including up to both riding a Tarrasque because Ino wanted to pet it.

      @@fleshdadbot6852 So it was meant to be a plot tool to get Ino and Vi-Vi to escape to another kingdom and progress the actual story. They weren’t meant to fight it obviously, it’s a Tarrasque lol, but the moment they heard the footsteps and Ino rolled a perception check to see if she knew what it was and succeeded. The player stood up yelling, “I GO TO SET MYSELF UP TO PET THE TARRASQUE!” As me and the other player burst out laughing thinking it’s a joke, but reality hit going “Oh, wait that’s part of her character to pet all creatures….crap” so tried as I might, I couldn’t deter her from trying. I gave athletics and climbing checks to get into a tower of sufficient height. I tried to have guards stop her. Anything I could think of. Meanwhile Vi-Vi is chasing after her as usual screaming for her to stop. Until the Tarrasque comes into range and starts destroying the town. Ino jumps off the tower and lands on the Tarrasque as Vi-Vi rolled a nat 20 to grappling hook onto it. So they both end up on top of this monster. Ino happy as can be, while Vi-Vi is about to shit herself. So they rode it during its rampage and got off once it was done. Ending up with Ino watching it go off in the distance saying, “I hope to pet you again someday” as Vi-Vi yells at her, “You psychotic Kobold. I swear to the nine hells I don’t know why I’m friends with you.” Ino: “Cause I’m an adorable bean.” After we got done laughing I just flat out told the player, “Please don’t do that again.”

    Me and a buddy were inquisitors on a D&D version of the plane of Innistrad (MTG plane, basically all of gothic and classic horror tropes). I was a Battle Priest, and he was a Half blooded vampire. The church sent us because we were the most effective at our jobs. Also the church weren’t fond of us because of our unorthodox nature. My character had the symbol of avacyn’s collar tattooed on his face like Paul Bettany from Priest. My partner was an incomplete vampire. We kept each other in check and solved the really rough jobs. We were basically the men in Black. However the “church” also made us bring along a new guy for “field training” his name was Dan, From accounting..... Needles to say shenanigans ensued.

    • @gnarthdarkanen7464
      @gnarthdarkanen7464 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nearly any combination of 5 Characters to a group gives you enough relative overlap and still the variety needed to be "solid" as a group, and yet small enough that everyone has an investment in story, RP, and mechanics of combat... NOBODY is unimportant, and nobody HAS to carry the load at any point...
      3 is nearly intimate, but some adjustments need made or a Campaign either deteriorates to misadventures or Monty Hall... It's still do-able, just with some adjustments... AND generally, an intimately small group makes for a much heftier investment per Player for the story and RP....
      There's NOTHING wrong with adjustments... They should be small and subtle, like Temples relatively available and healing relatively cheap, or even "free" more or less... especially in "emergencies"... That sort of thing. ;o)

    A friend of a friend who played a 3.5 Star Wars game using a system I had written wanted a HP game, and I couldn't find a module, so I wrote one up. We only had the player who wanted the game, the friend who introduced us, and me. Because the party had no designated 'tank' as my friend played a Hufflepuff who loved Magical creatures,and the friend who requested the game played a Hufflepuff potions prodigy who was awful at martial magic, I ended up rolling up a Ravenclaw metamorph duelist who wasn't the most effective character because she was borderline insane, and also had a habbit of rushing head first into all manner of dangerous situations, which her best friend, the Hufflepuff magizoologist, followed her into as the best absolute loyal friend anyone could ask for. Each character ended up with books worth of story arcs, background notes and all round lore. That campaign was set in the marauders era, went into the first wizarding war, and ended with James and Lily's deaths and voldemort's first defeat. We played a second campaign with the children of those characters, set in Harry's school years, and a third and (so far) final campaign with their grandchildren. By the end, with all the new things added, and the effects our characters had on the world, JKR would not recognise her own IP if we showed her our story notes. Maybe one day we'll return to that universe. If we don't my character from that first campaign, created to fill a hole in the party, which took on a life of her own, will always still be my favourite ever character I've created, and I'll still keep trying to recapture the feelings from that RPing opportunity. And I can honestly say that with all the controversy around JK in recent years, being able to treat our little universe as headcannon kept my HP fandom alive. Currently, I'm running another small group through the Doctor Who RPG as an AU Doctor and companions.

He is a raging narcissist who thinks he’s above everyone and believes that the world “needs his beauty.” His partner, a Moon Elf named Inverna, is a stubborn, sarcastic Fighter that hates orcs after a group killed her family and scarred her face. She is frustrated to no end with Zeke’s ego, even in the moments when she’s trying to be nice. The only reason they adventure with each other is because their abilities complement each other and Inverna rescued Zeke from a fatal encounter in his first quest. Together they’re like an Archer/Lana pair that barely manages to get the job done with their constant bickering.

    I played in a oneshot as part of a party of three. We were told to make an evil alignment character and the plan was we were spreading our cult. Enter the Lawful Evil Paladin (my character) and two Chaotic Evil Barbarians. My character became the party face as the other two either terrified or enraged the villagers we came across. My character was very tired of the barbarians' bullshit, but as fate would have it she had a whopping 3 in Constitution (thanks dice gods) and needed them so she didn't die to monsters on the road. Elf Barbarian had an arsenal of weapons and would constantly switch them mid-combat, and due to some nat 1s often ended up literally tossing his swords across the battle field and having to spend time gathering them all back up after the slaughter. Dragonborn Barbarian and my character had a kind of flirtatious relationship and she was offended when my character bought a sapphire bracelet instead of a ruby one (she was a red-scaled dragonborn). Together we managed to indoctrinate an entire city into our cult and become the shadow government with the current ruler being our puppet. In the epilogue written by our DM my character sacrificed herself in a blood ritual and became the literal god of the cult, elf was gifted undeath by her and became her eternal champion, while the dragonborn was voted into leadership by the people before getting assassinated by the elf on orders of my character because the dragonborn started hoarding taxes for herself and stopped giving the church their cut. We then played in a different party with more people and that group came across ruins of a once great city, hearing how the king came through ten years ago and razed it for being full of cultists. Party found a hidden entrance in one of the buildings and found the untouched remains of the cult's basement, including a wraith that used to be the dragonborn, screaming at the party to leave her treasure alone. Also a statue of my character, suspiciously missing her sword and shield. Later went to have dinner with the king and he showed off the cut off head of the elf in a box, hissing insults at everyone, unable to die.

    Brilliant! XD I loved playing this out in my mind's theater. A fun dynamic I don't see nearly often enough. I'd love to know how this adventure continues, how the two help and support each other in their own unique ways and the character growth for both that results. : ) I've got a year and a a half of videos to catch up on, so maybe I'll be lucky?

    My best game is a pirate campaign where my wife plays as captain drax a leonin swashbuckler and my brother in law her first mate Ox a half orc barbarian. They have a sceam where the captain woos high profile wemon and gets them to take him home while ox sneaks in during the commotion and loots the house. This lead to ox putting on a cursed necklace that leads the party to an acient temple containing the imprisoned godess of chaos and discord Eris. The end up freeing her unleashing dark water and her guardian constellations on the world.

      It's not immediate, as far as redemptions goes. Isn't this just one part of their entire campaign?
      A pretty lady could become a cliche for a knight/paladin, even if the origins are different. Besides, the players did want to have a different... flavor, in their adventure.
