    Thanks for the video. I am waiting for the arrival of War Room Ed 2 and looking at videos to help my learning and this will help.

    Thanks for the useful vids! The reference board with the mini-map is great for keeping your moves/intentions secret. It also has a reminder to flip embattled territory cards if you are following the condensed turn sequence on the back side. For cleaning stained dry erase - use a very small amount of powdered bleach (Ajax, etc.) on a damp cloth. Rub gently and wipe clean. This should remove even very old dry erase stains. (Disclosure: I do not own the laminated cards for War Room, but have done this with numerous similar components from other games without issue).

      Glad you find them useful. Flipping the cards is difficult to always remember. I will try some Ajax...maybe Softscrub might work too I am thinking...regardless, over time they will degrade.

    A good one I saw from Painstate; before writing order, organize all the units so all the territory numbers are showing.

    Built two round, 42 inch, 1/2 sanded plywood Lazy Susans. One for my best friend who has the game, what a super idea!

      Excellent!..how did you cut them, jig saw? I am thinking up a board that has build in holders for the various units/etc. Might not ever get built...lol.

      Yep, jig saw, not a perfect circle; but not bad; gets the job done. I just traced around the board and used those old Air Force iron sights; sight picture skills to judge it! Used 1/2 inch medium density particle board for the base. Home Depot had the hardware kits for less than $5 each. 2x2 on the base, about $60 total spend, made two of them. Best thing ever! No corners to bump, they're only about an inch and a quarter deep! Awesome hardware kit at H. D. 👍 Plus I squared up the spare pieces, got some good bits from the unused parts, very little waste.

    Yes, super like your point and idea of secret battle boards. I tink that problem dont surfase because little play test time and teams. We need to import some ideas of war room in to axis and allies.

    • @wartable
      @wartable  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works pretty well and actually now after so many games it isn't that secret as it is simultaneous. Yes, A&A could get a boost from War Room ideas as well as other games. We play counter games too (GMT/Compass). The interlocking units in War Room could port well I think to counter based games.

    Is it just me or does it seem like the alliance that controls the embattled territory should setup second giving them like a defending bonus it would make more sense in theme.

    • @wartable
      @wartable  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That makes sense...and is better than 1st oil bidder

    • @PMMagro
      @PMMagro 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makes perfect sense to me.
      It should be an advantage to defend.

    Putting the carrier fighters on the carriers is what we do too, doesn't make any sense to not do that.
    Since we had the multiple battle boards we were setting up multiple battles simultaneously to just have the combats be over quicker, it really does save a lot of time while one player is deciding their setup the other player is getting the pieces over to the next battle, but I like the secret battle board idea as well.
    I think you should add marking the multinational forces with the control markers to your list, that was not something I thought about at first but it makes the most sense to do that

    • @wartable
      @wartable  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes...using the national flags on the battle board does help with keeping track of the pieces, losses, etc, if I have it correct. Should have added that one!...next time!

    1) BATTLE TURN ORDER: I've also mentioned in one of these forums how odd the requirement for the turn order leader to have to place his 'stances' first. One would think that whoever was invading should have to deploy first (advantage to defender, as it should be) or if they both invaded an empty territory together THEN use something like turn order. But then, I guess, you have to think what the reason for the rule was in the first place. Did the designers think that turn order was TOO powerful and needed to be neutered a bit to give the non oil-bid winners a little break?
    2) MARKING PRODUCTION UNITS: Since newly produced units don't have Command Tokens on them anyway, could you not just place them right side up and that would still indicate that they were still in the womb. We find the newly produced stacks are more stable that way, but it's a horse a piece really and either a far better solution than the top heavy 'industry token' pieces.
    3) LAZY SUSAN: You really need a round table or else those protruding corners of a square board will give players who are not paying attention severe stomach lacerations as it spins ;-)

    • @wartable
      @wartable  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      1) Yes, one wonders if it was just an oversight or..."'lets get this out the door, make a decision". Defender 1st also makes sense.
      2) I tend to put a Command Token on my builds to make sure I have one available. If I do not have one in the box, then it is a good reminder to combine a stack or plan for a combination. Whatever works though, just a suggestion. Upside down is the most clear for us.
      3) Yeah..mine is a temporary set-up. I will get a piece of foam board cut, the square corners are a hassle and knock things over. Even with a round table, the lazy Susan would be indispensable.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @@wartable 1) It's too important of a rule to be an oversight I think. Heck, it's been in development for two years I think. Some day it would be cool if they published a 'Designer's Notes" to let us all know their thinking on various rules. Love the game as it is even. 2) Good idea about putting command tokens upside down too. Never thought of that. 3) Will be interested how the foam board turns out...if it's durable/sturdy enough over extended use. I made one out of plywood and you can lean on it if need be and it's fine.
      I enjoy your well thought out posts on this game. Hell, I wish you did the evening news...........your 'narrative voice' is better than anybody currently on NBC, CBS or ABC :-)

    The only thing we started doing was in writing orders if there was a carrier we also write Luanch or Luanch Air. Ill try the fighters on carrier stacks but i think we might still forget

    • @wartable
      @wartable  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Launch" would help too, but technically one does not have to write the carrier plane orders, they are more "free form". I think you will find keeping the carrier planes on the stacks will help greatly..I hope! Thanks for commenting and watching.
