Good to see where Drumeo is now. edit: I remember seeing his courses in middle school and I'm in my low 30s now...
I'm 60 years old and just bought an electronic drum kit. I have always wanted to play the drums. I had an acoustic set briefly (2 days) as a teen but had to get rid of it. Always wanted to learn again. I'm a lefty but setting up right handed. The hardest part I find so far is telling my brain when to hit the hi-hat and kick drum pedals. I'm sure it will come with time and practice.
This is great, My dad is a drummer, he put me on his lap and taught me the rithm, but now I am 42 and I can barely remember what my dad taught me... Love the way you put it... Will help me alot, thanks
I'm sincerely thankful for your channel, it's basically drum lessons for freakin free!!! I got my drum set a couple days ago and we're re-modeling my room so I have yet to set them up, but watching your videos just get me so freakin excited to play them. I'm very grateful for the effort you guys put into your videos, there just absolutely amazing~ ❤🤘
I use to play drums when I was 18! I loved the drums so much that I learned how to play a song with pillows and hairbrushes while watching live videos of my favorite bands. When I finally put my drum set together, all mixed matched parts, I was able to play one song. It wasn't a rock or metal classing it was 'talk' by cold play lol! long story short my mom sold my drum set in a garage sale. Broke my heart and I gave up on drums. But I've recently (10 years later) felt the fire burning in me to start again. I will start at the basics! Except for this time I have a 12in practice pad and VF drumstick. I'm ready!
I bought a drum kit on impulse yesterday, I was scared of the delivery day until I saw your movie. You will probably teach my 3 year old daughter to play. Thank you very much :) Greetings from Warsaw
First timer here, obviously... just sniffin' around. I love playing "air" drums in the car to Slaughter and Warrant. And I'm really good too!... in my own decrepit mind. So I came here to see if I can get serious. I am starting with pens and a desk, if I like it and get good I will continue; So far... I'm liking it. What you have taught here makes me feel good and I want to practice until the cows come home, then advance. Thank you for this. My drumming heros are Neil Peart, Robert Sweet Joey Kramer and Tommy Lee.
i've been learing drums from a teacher with only a drum pad. i wanted to try a song on it but then I realised that the stuff he was teaching me didnt look like the music sheet at all. i learned more from this legend in 7 minutes than I did from 4 weeks of lessons
I am so glad to have found you! First off I was a midrange beginner and so loved playing and learning more. Fast forward 20 years, we had to make a move and the drums were lost. Several months ago I had a life altering illness, surgery and was in a coma for 3 weeks - then straight into chemo from there. I went from 145 to 95 pounds in 5 months and developed what they are calling brain fog from the surgery and chemo - they say in most cases it will dissipate over time. My hubby thought getting me a new drum kit would help get back my arm and leg strength and coordination started. So the kit is still sitting in need of assembling. I first the life of me can't remember how I liked them setup. I have a friend that once I get it set up will tune it up for me. So I am excited to have found your channel - thank you!!!
Thank you so so much for the lesson! I've always dreamt of playing an instrument and have always been fascinated with drums so I just got my first cheap-ass electronic drum set and thanks to you I feel hooked already! It's true that learning how to play your first beat makes you insanely motivated to practice more. I couldn't get it right yesterday but today magic happened and finally I got it down haha
A friend of mine is moving and getting rid of a drum set. I’ve had interest in playing the drums since I was very little, but my parents told me that drums were only for boys! How sad is that?! I’m in my 50s now. I used to be a singer; and long story as to why I am not anymore, but I hope to get back to it and learn the drums. I think it’ll be fun and I’m also thinking it could be a great workout! Thank you for this video.
I have good rythm, but I struggle with coordination (can't dance or mirror people's movements, no matter how much I want to) so I thought drumming was not going to happen either. But you are a good teacher! I nailed this easily and I am proud of myself :) I have wanted to learn drums, but I thought trying would only make me feel bad. I am going to buy a drum set this summer. Can't wait! I think making noise and hitting something will be good for my mental health too :)
Sadly, I don't have rhythm or coordination. When I clap to a song, I always clap off beat and I struggle with mirroring movements. I was able to pick up on what he taught as well. He's a great teacher, like you said. Were you able to get your drum set? If so, how's working out? If you weren't able to get it yet, no problem. It will happen when it does. Keep us posted!
I watched this video about three times. I memorized what you showed In the video and I went to my local music store and I asked if if could play their drumsets. I did it!!! Thanks alot. Now I just have to work hard and save enough money to buy a set so I can practice :)
Haven’t seriously picked up an instrument since high school orchestra class, but my youngest has been serious with his guitar lessons and I’ve always wanted to play drums. So here I am, wary 40’s, learning drums. Good times!
+UItraVice drums are mostly strictly multi-tasking well timed skills and I'm trying to cure myself from the same exact problems you mentioned specially the base timing is when I always missed timed.. good luck mate!
I have always wanted to learn how to play the drums. Someone recently broke my heart when I was so nice to them, they pulled away. Now it’s time to focus on myself!
I now feel so much more confident starting out :) - it shows that I can just have a mess around with it on a small level and do simple things like this you don't have to jump in the deep end before you learn to swim!
My friends told me to pick up the drums but I've had no musical experience before. We gathered in the music room and I watched this tutorial before getting on the drums. It explained how to play in such a simple way. Actually really useful
I'm learning music theory and I'm not playing any instrument, just writing directly into music notation. Your lesson helped me finishing a song. Thanks!
This is a very important part of drumming. Just basic is better then playing too much. Loved the way you explained all this. I am sure that even intermediate drummers should take head in this. Great job.
My professor expects me to become a drummer for his band, since his PhD student who’s been the drummer graduated and will leave soon. Actually I love drums and always want to learn. Now I got the chance! This is a very helpful video for me🎉 Thanks a lot!
Start out with Ringo Starr's (Richard Starkey) set up: 4 drums: 1 bass 1 snare 1 mounted tom 1 floor tom 1set high hats 1 ride 1 crash !! Then everything will make perfect sense !! Wait a while to add a 2nd mounted tom & a 2nd floor tom !! This worked for me !!!
@@juniorcyans2988 set of how many? Ringo Starr used 4 only in his set. Most R-R drummers double the mounted toms for a total of 5. Some R&R and R&B drummers also double the floor toms for a total of 6. It's best to start out simple like Ringo with only 4 imo. Congrats on choosing drums. I hope you're a natural.
@@hkschubert9938 Thank you for telling me these details! I think he has something around 5 or 6. I’m an outsider right now, though I have a natural sense of beats. New semester will start next Monday and I’ll be very busy again. Hopefully I’ll still have time to watch the channel and play the drums in my professor’s house at times.
Well explained! I'm a longtime singer/songwriter/guitarist/keyboardist. My drummer left his spare kit at my house before COVID hit and it would be a shame to let it go to waste! Hoping to add my own simple drum tracks to a home recording. I've understood the structures of beats but was unsure how to physicalize it and be fluid. This gives me some clues and convinces me I should be working with a metronome at first. Thanks Drumeo!
Well, I live in a country where garage sales are next to nowhere-seen... My school has a drumset I might be able to use when I don't have any classes tho
Man, lemme tell ya, you may not get this every day but you've kinda helped me get over what's felt like a lot of bullying in my life. Alright so my band teacher in 6th grade, I really wanted to play drums but I failed the audition. There was no previous training and he believed rhythm was intrinsic and I should already have it I guess? So I played trombone. Anyway. Fast-forward several years and it's 2018-19, I've got a band going. I'm not the drummer, nor do I seek to replace our fantastic drummer. But we only started cuz I bought a shitty first set and used, and he would always be a total passive-aggressive .. hurtful guy whenever I tried to play the drums. I didn't realize how much pain this has inflicted on me until I was playing this rhythm at 100bpm, even when you'd stopped, just like it was before. I always knew I had it in me. No one else bothered to try to teach me. Maybe it's just luck, yanno, and I could've clicked on a different channel first. This is my first drum video, after all. But I like to think you did a fantastic job of relaxing the material enough for somebody who's scared and playing on their first legs. It's hard to take esoteric knowledge and water it down to where it's palatable, especially when you're experienced in that field. That's why not everyone can be a great teacher. Thanks for the fresh start. I already got my free gift. 👍
I wanted to play drums too like 3 years ago but they chose me to play euphonium/baritone,because apparently I wasn’t good at drums. I was 12,and I decided to try it and I never got good so I quit after 7th grade and now I’m a 9th grader and I still want to play drums but my parents never got me drums cause they know I’m not good at commitments and so I’m going to make my own drum set or save up(I’m horrible at saving money tho)and ask for one for Christmas(I’m going to ask both my parents and my adult bro). I been watching tutorials and people and kids drumming on TH-cam since last year too.
I know this is an old comment, but I hope you can keep going. I tried learning drums only a few times. I was in middle school and the after school program had finally added a marching band club in addition to the rock band club. I wanted to try drums (I think the small one) and I made a cardinal sin for crossing the sticks unknowingly. The teacher got really upset and yelled at me. I was too embarrassed and was afraid of the teacher so I just stopped after that. I was also very insecure of practicing with people watching or hearing me play or asking for help. I regret not doing any of that.
This has got to be the SINGLE most effective 5 minute video ever. Wish i started with drums earlier. Tomorrow i'm teaching my dad this, i dont care what he says. This a lifetime of joy in a 5 minute package.
Excellent video Jared!! This channel is fantastic. Your work is helping many. Most, you won't even know about or hear from. Keep up the great efforts. Cheers.
Jared Falk I enjoy all your videos. I recently bought the beginner pack for $7. Lessons are explained slowly, very detailed and simplified for me to understand. I have been learning a lot and having fun. I will be subscribing to your website for further drum lessons.
Ive never played drums before, and I got a lil groove going after 30 minutes thanks to this video! Now I just gotta work on keeping it constant! Thank you!
Ive been wanting to play drums for a long time! I finally got a drumset for Christmas and I just got finished practicing along with the video. I had to pause and practice the exercizes with the highhat and snare drum before being able to put it all together. It took about 15 minutes to finally be able to do them all at once, which isnt bad at all! it just took some getting used to. I'll definietly keep watching these videos. I like em!
listening to pierce the veil really made me riled up about drumming! this is a new to me and i hope this new interest develops into a passion i can go further into in life! thanks for the video

I'm ready!
Ive been learning guitar for 4 years and wanted to try drums, so far im able to play this lesson at 100bpm successfully but it was very tricky
Um is a new drum of all ages..... 😍
I’ve been playing for 5 years, why did I watch this
Your passionate?
Does it get easier :(?
Shyeline oh yeah it takes about a year but once you get there you’ve got through the hard part. Past that your passion for it will just carry you
Because we'll all be beginners forever
@@jackjudge7393 thanks!
Congrats! You can now play almost every ACDC song!
Yes! 🎉
😂
I bought a drum kit on impulse yesterday, I was scared of the delivery day until I saw your movie. You will probably teach my 3 year old daughter to play. Thank you very much :) Greetings from Warsaw
@@DevonD.B hello it's REALY hard to answer. On private I can tell You our way.
Anyway thxf or assking.

F drum lessons. They slowed me down instead of speeding me up.
Here i am trying to learn without having drums with me T.T
hahaha me too. With two pencils and wo notebooks

hahahahah yeah me too

my daughter is learning for a band her and her friends are making thanking for having such helpful videos
ALREADY GOT THIS BEAT DONE! Woo hoo starting a band and I am the drummer.
+Kadin G. lol
Kadin G. Yo my band needs a drummer. I have a set if you want to move in. How does Wednesday sound? Seeya then

Haven’t seriously picked up an instrument since high school orchestra class, but my youngest has been serious with his guitar lessons and I’ve always wanted to play drums. So here I am, wary 40’s, learning drums. Good times!
Next step: Go to guitar center and try to do it in drum's section.
hehehe what im doing next sunday lol
LMAO YES
I want to learn but my body keeps making my arms and legs go at the same beat. my brain only focuses on one rhythm at a time x(
hang in there

I don't have a drumset but I started tapping my fingers on the table and my foot on the ground. XD I just want to learn drums so sorry XD .

Haha I was doing this just wish I had somewhere to put a drum kit
I love your profile picture!! SWS ftw
Can we skip to the part to where I'm Josh Dun?

YESSSSS
HE IS MY INSPIRATION TO PLAY DRUMS!!!! I WANNA BE JUST LIKE HIM!!!!!!!!!! So true
what
Ikr?!😂😂
ill never forget the day when my music teacher told me i have a good sense of rhythm
Same here, it was flattering
My friends told me to pick up the drums but I've had no musical experience before. We gathered in the music room and I watched this tutorial before getting on the drums. It explained how to play in such a simple way. Actually really useful
Why am I here?
I've been playing drums for almost 5 years.
Prolific please look at trinity rose on drums and comment and share this this video thank you
I picked up my first pair of drum sticks at 2 years old, never stopped playing ever since. Where has time gone? I’m now 17.
I’ve been playing since kindergarten
I've been playing guitar for 14 years and still watch lessons for beginners lol. So I guess it doesn't matter what instrument haha
I don't know
I'm learning music theory and I'm not playing any instrument, just writing directly into music notation. Your lesson helped me finishing a song. Thanks!
I really want to learn drums cuz it just makes sense when u play the guitar it helps u understand beats and stuff like that. This vid was gr8
I get my first kit on Tuesday, after 2 years of guitar. I can’t wait.
This is a very important part of drumming. Just basic is better then playing too much. Loved the way you explained all this. I am sure that even intermediate drummers should take head in this. Great job.
Wow, so many idiotic and disrespectful comments. Thanks Jared for an excellent video. The split screens were very helpful.

My professor expects me to become a drummer for his band, since his PhD student who’s been the drummer graduated and will leave soon. Actually I love drums and always want to learn. Now I got the chance! This is a very helpful video for me🎉 Thanks a lot!
Start out with Ringo Starr's (Richard Starkey) set up:
4 drums:
1 bass
1 snare
1 mounted tom
1 floor tom
1set high hats
1 ride
1 crash !!
Then everything will make perfect sense !!
Wait a while to add a 2nd mounted tom & a 2nd floor tom !!
This worked for me !!!
My professor has the whole set, and an electronic set as well. I only tried the electronic bass and snare drum so far. Thank you 😀
@@juniorcyans2988 set of how many?

I've been following you and been drumming for 3 months now but I still watched the whole video.
now you're better than george kollias.
You’re gentle
Nice
Talented
And of course a good instructor
Thank you
Thanks a lot! I'm trying to recognize drum parts on my software. This clear video really helps for telling which parts they are!
Thanks Drumeo!
i’m ready to become roger taylor now

When you're done replacing brake drums you can bang drums 😊
I used to play the drums, I haven't played in years though, but getting back at it starting with the basics, love the channel.
Aww yeh! Im getting my drums for my birthday I can't Wait to play them!
Alfa QueenSeas Drums are a ton of fun. Good luck with your kit.
yosovii i got my drums on my bday too when i was 14, im 15 now lol
Now I want to get a drumset. Fuck they are expensive and I'm a poor middle-schooler. shit
Well, I live in a country where garage sales are next to nowhere-seen... My school has a drumset I might be able to use when I don't have any classes tho
I got one for $200 off of Ebay.
Lol Josh Dun makes me want to play drums so bad & honestly I've wanted to play the drums for a long time so here I am
