RIP, Lance Reddick, the concierge from the John Wick movies passed away Friday morning at age 60. When they premiered the movie, John Wick 4, in London, the director said that "this movie is for our friend and brother Lance Reddick. We love you, we miss you, man." The audience got up and applauded. I saw a video on Twitter.
He released a video the day before his passing speaking on subjects that felt strange at the time. Looking g back at the video now it's even more strange. Wicked world we live in.. I'll just say that
The dog wasn't just a pet it was supposed to represent John having a normal life, but when they killed the dog, they took away his one chance of happiness. Back in the early 2000's the character was written to be much older and that actors Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood and Paul Newman were considered for the part, until Keanu Reeves was cast as the titular assassin.
"When Helen died, I lost everything. Until that dog arrived on my doorstep... A final gift from my wife... In that moment, I received some semblance of hope... an opportunity to grieve unalone... And your son... took that from me." As you said. It was never just a pet. And John makes that very, very clear
I’ve seen this movie fully through countless times, I’ve seen reaction videos to this movie, countless times….and I had NO IDEA that in the gas station scene, John had all those dog toys in the back seat. Nice catch y’all!
I hope its not weird, bc as a female i dont go on corn hubs or anything like that when i need inspo, i watch videos of cops/soldiers kicking ass, taking people down, kicking in doors & doing mag dumps on bad guys. Always thought it was mostly just me bc ive never seen another girl attracted to that 🤷♀️@@dabreal82
With regards to Daisy: Apparently the actor who played the thug who 'killed' her was so upset by the scene that he spent literally hours after they finished filming that bit, just sitting and holding/playing with her and bawling his eyes out. He ended up adopting her and apparently she's now much loved by him and his family and super spoiled. So, a sorta-kinda happy ending to the whole thing. Also, the dog in the end, if you pause the movie at just the right time, you can see that he's going to be euthanized the next day, so John literally saved his life...kind of a fitting parallel.
I read that. I sobbed my head off when I lost each of my dogs(first one on my birthday 2009). Was damn near crying so hard I brought myself to coughing and near throwing up when my second had to be put to sleep. When I got my 3rd I brought her home, sleeping in my lap while I pet her and cried. She's a good puppy.
@@JnEricsonx I've lost dogs and cats both over the years, and, unfortunately, it never gets any easier. I find that what keeps me going is the knowledge that I gave them the best possible life, and that, in their name, I'm giving as many more as I can manage the same chance.
I love this series, the coolest thing about this whole thing is Keanu actually trained to shoot like that. He's actually that good. There are a few training videos here on youtube where hes going through shooting drills and hes freakishly good.
While the pistol work takes center stage, Keanu trains in 3-Gun. Competitors run timed courses shooting and transitioning from pistol, to rifle/carbine, to shotgun. And he uses each weapon at some point in all the films so far.
This movie is master class in setting up the audiences support for the hero. In killing Daisy, nothing John does in revenge is too much, and he is immediately sympathetic.
The boogeyman line needs to be like entered in for one of the best original monologues ever. Never fails to bring chills, always sets the tone for what’s about to happen
"I understand this movie now." That is the exact reaction everyone had going into it already knowing that it's about a guy going on a rampage killing lots of people. Most relatable protagonist of all time.
Fun Fact: When John goes to the Club to kill the kid and starts with the bodyguard outside, He says, "You've lost weight" and Francis Replied "Over 60 pounds". This was actually a test AND a code between the two. John was testing him to see if he would help him (which is why he lets him go and tells him to take the night off) and Francis replies Over 60 pounds (or 27 kilograms), a code for nearly 27 security guys/henchman protecting the boy. This is also being used in the military forces around to world too. VERY cool way to again show us how much of a badass and how respected John Wick is. Also thee one thing I like about Keanu Reaves is the amount of effort he puts into a role. You can find videos of his training sessions for these movies where he spends countless time at a gun range training with all sorts of guns to the point where he knows how each gun he handles will behave IRL and will actually handle them accordingly for things like checking to ensure the weapons are not jammed. You will see him handle a pistol in the second John Wick movie where he will kinda toss the gun in his hand a little to press down on the chamber because the pistol he is using at that time is known for having bullets getting jammed and is checking the chamber to make sure it is clear enough to fire. Keanu also went through 4 months of training, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day to bring his character to life. He also went through Judo, Japanese Ju-Jutsu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So Keanu is that accurate and deadly in real life. You can find a few videos of his trainings with a company known as Taran Tactical. Keanu also had help from former Navy SEAL and CIA Contractor Shawn Ryan.
That’s amazing! I think that part was cut out here but was in our extended reaction I remember it clearly 😂 I did search up and saw the videos of him doing trainings, there was one specifically for John Wick 2 so I think we’ll add that in and check it out in that reaction!
I binged all the available John wick films in one afternoon. They follow after each other with barely an hour in between each film, and by the end I was just like please let this poor man rest!
It wasn't luck that John found the animal clinic/shelter. As he and the new dog are walking away, you can see that that is the same riverside walkway where Helen collapsed the first time; John had been there before.
My aunts always used to tell me there are some men in this world that deserve A LOT OF LEAVE ALONE!!! The moment he explained why the dog was so important that is when everyone should’ve realized that they didn’t poke a bear. They woke up and angered a sleeping demon who only had one goal afterwards, which was to take your souls to hell.
Brutality bonus: When John stabbed Viggo behind the collarbone, he severed his subclavian artery. When this happens, you bleed into your lungs and you literally drown in your own blood.
So incredibly glad she understood: "The COPS are scared of him!" So many people think it means he's working with them, they're in on it and it's like no, they just know they can't do anything to take down John Wick
26:04 That's thermite, think of it as a grenade that can melt through steel, destroy documents, and in this case, currency. It's a simple combination of Red Iron Oxide (Fe2O3), and Aluminum powder, which is a rather stable (Less accident-prone, and hard to ignite) pyrotechnic mixture, and can burn up to 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
God I love these films so much!!! It was a fabulous surprise to see this pop up this morning (I’m in the UK). I love the fact the dog at the end was going to be put down, so he saved a life in the end! I cannot wait for you to see the others now!!!
It's funny that you point out that the same guys keep showing up because they did this movie on such a small budget that they would have John shoot someone, they'd lay there for a second and then (out of frame) they'd crawl over so he could kill them again.
Bridgette: "Why was that hot?... Give me more wine." Cody without missing half a heartbeat reaching for the bottle: "Hell yea!" lol. I can't with you two!
I think one coin gets you one service, or one thing. These are things that are "if you have to ask" levels of expensive. So a coin gets you a body clean up, or a hotel stay, or access to the VIP, a drink, etc. They probably have a monetary value; but I feel like a high level operator like John sees the value in the coin over the money.
"MURDER THEM ALL, HARSHLY." - Bridgette Dog lover to dog lover, I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND, and agree!!!! Seeing how she and Cody were reacting to John Wick and his dog Daisy getting beaten by the same Russians from the gas station in his house- the beagle herself having it the worst was heart-wrenching. Not only that it saddened her to the point that she(Bridgette) didn't want to see this anymore, she became vengeful, wanting justice for the canine. Even John Wick himself would agree to that(him having justice for Daisy and his car). Much love and respect!!!!😌🙏
Little details.. The bellman's name at the Continental is "Charon" -- The ferryman who carries the souls between the land of the living and the land of the dead. -- And no matter what time it is, Charon is ALWAYS at his post..
The big thing to remember, the first 3 are all set in the span of a few days (not sure about the fourth) so yeah, when you realise how much he does in a short space of time, it's even more intense
The actor for Viggo was a Swedish actor named Mikael Nyqvist. One of the greats in our national cinema but it was so cool to see him get a role like this. He died at a pretty young age just a couple years after this movie, so it's pretty nice to see him as a cool Hollywood Mob-boss role.
18:57 Bridget was all over it, when he called "reservation for 12", as a code for the cleanup of 12 bodies. In this scene, when he is asked how much weight he lost (you cut that out for the YT release), the bouncer is telling John how many targets are inside °L° "About 60 pounds" ^^
This is one of my favorite reactions that you guys have done. Nobody else could have played this role but Keanu Reeves. This franchise is phenomenal, the cinematography and choreography are beautiful. RIP Lance Reddick.🙏
"People keep asking me if I'm back, and I hadn't really got an answer. But now, yeah- I'm thinking I'm back!!!! So you can either hand over your son, OR YOU CAN DIE SCREAMING ALONGSIDE HIM!!!!!!" - John Wick

Great response to a great movie. I never get tired of watching first time watchers' reaction to a John Wick Movie. John Wick franchise is just a classic and constant rewatch.
The gold coins are Krugerrands. Minted in South Africa in the mid 60's they were illegal in many countries due to sanctions against S Africa because of apartheid. They are around 90% gold, and are worth about $2000 each currently, more when the Wick movies started due to gold prices fluctuating. So "dinner for 12" was around $24,000. Minimum.
If you look at John’s facial hair, it’s actually almost made to be the shape of a skull. John wasn’t rusty, the glass was causing problems. Any professional worth their salt would be using hollow points, and when a hollow point hits glass, it usually causes problems. You run into jacket separation, deflection from angle of intersection, etc. John was trying to wing him and the glass was deflecting the bullets.
the great thing about this series is that each sequel gets progressively more batshit insane with high body counts. It's a ride for sure. And the pencil gets used again in Part 2! RIP Lance Reddick
My favorite lines in this movie are "john isnt exactly the boogeyman, he was the one you sent to kill the fucking boogeyman" and "john will come for you"
If you liked the actor playing Vigo (Michael Nyqvist) you should check out the 'Girl with' (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo...) series of films. Make sure you watch the original in Swedish audio with subs versions. Such a great set of films.
Nyquist is such a great actor that I literally didn't recognize he'd also played in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, where his character is a rather wimpy journalist.
he pulled it in as the knife was not going to hit any of hid organs as it was well under the rib cage into your stomach area so that he could take the power back and use the knife to end the fight all he would need is a few stitches and a couple of glasses of whiskey .to take the blood pressure down while being stitched .
"We live by a code, which is why I'm not the one telling you that a certain helicopter at a certain helipad is being fueled for a certain someone." How did you know where to find me?! Lucky guess? 😇😂😂😂
To the late, great actor Lance Reddick(1962-2023), who gave life to charismatic, calm, cool, and collected concierge Charon in the John Wick franchise. REST IN POWER.😔🙏
It's crazy that in real life his girlfriend died after their child was stillborn less than 2 years before, I just feel he knows the pain of loss so it played a part in the dark atmosphere in the beginning
The series breaks most of Hollywood's "rules", and has become a very successful series because of it . 1 the first film didn't spend half the films runtime developing the backstory and triggering events 2 Other than a few rules The Continental is pretty much unexplained. A few people that rank higher up have appeared, but without names or history. (Disclaimer : I haven't seen 4 yet) 3 The rest of the films end with cliffhangers.
The more I’ve watched this movie John deff missed those shots in club on purpose not rust. He was enjoying it. The stare down right before he was all in till the end

The Director said that in the John Wick Universe the Cops and the Continental Hotel have a understanding and stay away from each other as much as they can
I find it funny that the one time someone actually beats him in a fight in this film is after he's fought through an entire club of them basically without getting hurt 😂
I remember my wife surprised me with a trip to the movies and we watched this freakin loved it we've been John Wick fans since. Keanu trained for months for this role the director had him trained in Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and weapons training for the 2nd movie Tran tactical trained him for the weapons and he became a legit firearms shooter
fun fact: francis, the guard john let go, was played by WWE hall of famer and legendary pro wrestler, kevin nash. funner fact: kevin nash played the russian in "the punisher", opposite thomas jane. in their hilariously awesome fight scene, jane accidently stabs nash in the shoulder with a knife. the knife was suppose to be gimmicked but it wasn't replaced and thus, jane stabbed him. he was the only one who knew and once the director yelled cut, he screamed for a medic. kevin didn't seem to notice and just brushed it off as nothing and the scene was kept in the movie.
There's something wholesome about seeing the world's most deadly assassin leaving The Life™ for a woman, breaking down over her death, falling in love with a puppy, and going on a murderous rampage when some jackasses kill said puppy.
There's a part of me that died a little when you both called Dean Winters the guy in the Mayhem commercials. It made me realize how many people don't recognize him as Ryan O'Reily from OZ. (Actually a TON of the supporting characters were on HBO shows)
'Are you about to Dark Knight it?' ...loving this coined verb thing. Reminds me of 'Clockwork Orange'ing it. to keep from blinking, in the 'Blink' episode of Doctor Who.
"This asshole had to put up a fight... And you're *still* gonna die!" Yup, pretty much sums up everyone that dares to take on John Wick from this point onwards 😂😂😂
You two are a great reaction team! Very entertaining. And, your reaction to John Wick was classic and perfect. You became bloodthirsty criminals, seeking revenge! I suscribed.
John Wick 4 comes out Friday of this week 3/24/23, it is 3 hours long!! John Wick 5 is underway. You have chosen a very deep rabbit hole. As we say here in Texas; Y'all be safe.
My friend recommended this movie to me, I had no interest in watching it cause I really didn’t know what it was about until she told me & then I was legitimately mad at her for not warning me about the dog lolol. All of these films are great, the visuals are amazing just as well as the action. It’s so much better since Keanu does as much as he can so there’s no getting lost in cuts or shaker cams which can really take me out of a movie. Can’t wait to see the 4th installment!
John Wick lets Francis live for a reason. When he says he lost “over 60 pounds” he was telling John how many people were inside, so because he gave John the heads up he was spared.
I really feel sorry for Alfie Allen, everything I have ever heard about him is that he is the nicest person you could ever meet but he's cursed with playing assholes
The “Coins” (despite being gold,) have no monetary value. So one coin can be any amount; one coin, one body. One coin, one entrance fee. It’s almost like one coin is worth one action.

the great thing about this series is that each sequel gets progressively more batshit insane with high body counts. It's a ride for sure. And the pencil gets used again in Part 2!
RIP Lance Reddick
I don't know if anyone has pointed this out, but the director (Chad Stahelski) was Keanu Reeves stunt double in The Matrix trilogy.
And Brandon Lee's in the Crow.
@@SCWillson It's such a shame he passed away...way too early.
Never in the history of film has the word "oh" said so much.
By the way, just found you guys, and I already love you both.... 21:18
he pulled it in as the knife was not going to hit any of hid organs as it was well under the rib cage into your stomach area so that he could take the power back and use the knife to end the fight
all he would need is a few stitches and a couple of glasses of whiskey .to take the blood pressure down while being stitched .
Just got back from watching the 4th one in theaters, it's INCREDIBLE.
"We live by a code, which is why I'm not the one telling you that a certain helicopter at a certain helipad is being fueled for a certain someone."
How did you know where to find me?!
Lucky guess? 😇😂😂😂
To the late, great actor Lance Reddick(1962-2023), who gave life to charismatic, calm, cool, and collected concierge Charon in the John Wick franchise. REST IN POWER.😔🙏
Coins are favors. As is said in the sequels, “the currency of personal relationships “
He pulled the knife in to where he was already injured and stitched up which minimized the damage and gave him control of the knife.
I highly recommend y'all watch Nobody with Bob Odenkirk now if you haven't. It's a similar vibe with a different badass.
Alfie Allen plays the troublesome son. He is the younger brother of Lily Allen.
It's crazy that in real life his girlfriend died after their child was stillborn less than 2 years before, I just feel he knows the pain of loss so it played a part in the dark atmosphere in the beginning
The series breaks most of Hollywood's "rules", and has become a very successful series because of it .
1 the first film didn't spend half the films runtime developing the backstory and triggering events
2 Other than a few rules The Continental is pretty much unexplained. A few people that rank higher up have appeared, but without names or history. (Disclaimer : I haven't seen 4 yet)
3 The rest of the films end with cliffhangers.
The more I’ve watched this movie John deff missed those shots in club on purpose not rust. He was enjoying it. The stare down right before he was all in till the end
Bridget: it shouldn't hurt it peroxide
Cody: an open wound going to hurt
😂😂😂😂😂😂
just realized i was part of your pateron when i saw my tag in your video 😂 I’m glad to support lovely people like yourselves, started watching you two since the chucky series 💯🔥 Glad to support while you support me more than you two know
The Director said that in the John Wick Universe the Cops and the Continental Hotel have a understanding and stay away from each other as much as they can
When the mob offers u a contract, if you turn it down, you die. So Marcus had to say yes.
"William daFoe?"
No, William DaFriend
People forget John wick went through training almost exactly like black widow the man is a demon
Turns out the dog he rescued at the end is his dog in real life. Fun facts of John Wick.!
There's a part of me that died a little when you both called Dean Winters the guy in the Mayhem commercials. It made me realize how many people don't recognize him as Ryan O'Reily from OZ. (Actually a TON of the supporting characters were on HBO shows)
Oh my god you have no idea how many times I’ve seen people watch this movie and think “Am I the only guy that knows him from OZ?”
What is Oz, other than the land Dorothy goes to?
@Big Bag of Pus OZ was the first HBO drama, and honestly started serialized drama tv shows as we know it. Lance Reddick was also in this movie and OZ!
I know he was in Oz, but every time I see him the first thing I think of is Johnny Gavin from Rescue Me.
@@thirty2ndson Damn, Rescue Me is so underrated!
They fought to keep the death of the dog In and got it,they wanted the audience to feel the pain and agree with going after all involved
'Are you about to Dark Knight it?' ...loving this coined verb thing. Reminds me of 'Clockwork Orange'ing it. to keep from blinking, in the 'Blink' episode of Doctor Who.
What I like about these reaction guys...is they say omg it's my first time!!!! I've watched 90% of them watch and react next day lol
I love the brutal realism of "that dog is gonna piss and shit everywhere. it's gonna destroy your whole house."
Im on my 3rd dog. That only happened a couple times across 3 dogs since 1999.
I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS!! They are EVERYTHING and this one was gold!! Keep up the good work!! 😅😅❤
Takes a special kind of evil to hurt an animal man.
"This asshole had to put up a fight... And you're *still* gonna die!"
Yup, pretty much sums up everyone that dares to take on John Wick from this point onwards 😂😂😂
the swedish actor playing viggo died 3yrs after the this movie was released . this was his masterpiece roll imo.
He played a good roll
You two are a great reaction team! Very entertaining. And, your reaction to John Wick was classic and perfect. You became bloodthirsty criminals, seeking revenge! I suscribed.
John Wick 4 comes out Friday of this week 3/24/23, it is 3 hours long!! John Wick 5 is underway. You have chosen a very deep rabbit hole.
As we say here in Texas; Y'all be safe.
whats interesting in john wick is he gets treated and talked about like most horror films treat 'the monster'
"Now I'm sad" - *everyone* wait for it...
Of course the algorithm pointed me to you guys. I must say right off the bat, your energy is awesome!!
John Wick lets Francis live for a reason. When he says he lost “over 60 pounds” he was telling John how many people were inside, so because he gave John the heads up he was spared.
The action just ramps up with each sequel. I love this series so much. Can't wait for your other reactions.
John wick is a man that the devil even fears.
The "Oh" heard round the world.
John Wick 2 next !!!!! it just keeps getting more over top and the world building keeps expanding. best action franchise of the 20th century
I really feel sorry for Alfie Allen, everything I have ever heard about him is that he is the nicest person you could ever meet but he's cursed with playing assholes
Theon!
when Wick talks with Francis the guard at the door they're really talking about how many other guards there are onsite.
The “Coins” (despite being gold,) have no monetary value. So one coin can be any amount; one coin, one body. One coin, one entrance fee. It’s almost like one coin is worth one action.
John loses his wife, his car and his dog.
John Wick is a Country song.
Jimmy is the smartest cop ever
"and i'll do it again! pop pop!" was line of this video. lol forget the movie lol i was literally laughing hysterically. bravo 👏
