You are missing the most important thing, its someone who has created a self imposed separation from their family due to his own pride and then goes through a journey that makes him realise how much he actually loves his family and how much he will suffer to get back to them.

I count it as a Christmas movie not just because of the setting, but the themes it conveys. Most Christmas films deal with subjects of family, togetherness, and love while criticizing greed and selfishness. Think of It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Home Alone, etc. Die Hard follows the same formula with an action spin. Hans and his crew are the greedy Scrooge-like characters being confronted by the hero who is on a journey to reconnect with the family he lost due to his own ego. Very Christmas-y if you ask me.

For me, there are 2 tiers of Christmas movies. Tier 1 - Films whose plots depend on Christmas. Films you couldn't make without Christmas as the setting or without seriously rewriting the script. Anything with Santa Claus, for example. Tier 2 - Any film merely set at Christmas, without the holiday being a major plot point. If you could easily remove Christmas from the script and still have the same story. This doesn't really help the Die Hard debate, though. On one hand, remove all references to Christmas and make it a simple office party, and you could still have the same film. On the other hand, the Christmas setting helps establish the timing of the heist. Christmas means fewer employees and security personnel in the building, making for a much more convenient heist.
BOOM! Mic Drop! Bridget has Spoken!! I've always said it was a Christmas movie. 3 reasons why I know it is... It takes place on Christmas Eve, It's shot AT a Christmas Party, and the word 'Christmas ' is mentioned 14 times.

Funny that the main musical theme to this film is "Ode to Joy" while you're wearing a "No Joy" shirt 🤣🤣🤣
My favorite Christmas movie! Merry Christmas everyone!
technically a fountain pen in the right hands could kill just as easily as a gun
A fountain pen? Just need the right hands.
In the right hands, you could kill 2 men with a pencil. A $#@&ing pencil
"Discount Dolph Lundgren" 😂 I love it!
LA fun fact: helicopters are always flyimg overhead here already, so no one bats an eyelash at a couple more for a movie shoot
It isn’t Christmas at my house until Hans falls from the building.
Fun fact. The actress who plays Holly is the aunt of the Macaulay culkin from home alone
Any movie that takes place around Christmas time is a Christmas movie. Bob Clark gave us A Christmas Story and Black Christmas.
It's not really Christmas till Hans catches his flight.
Fun fact, until this film Bruce Willis was a soap/tv star! No one thought he could pull off action films, boy did he prove them wrong!
BOOM! Mic Drop! Bridget has Spoken!! I've always said it was a Christmas movie. 3 reasons why I know it is... It takes place on Christmas Eve, It's shot AT a Christmas Party, and the word 'Christmas ' is mentioned 14 times.
Cody, yes I got that on film....THANK YOU!!!!
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁⛄🌨️🎂
You can get a hans gruber advent calendar where he starts at the top of the nakatomi building and falls one floor each day until he gets to the bottom. 😁
Beethoven’s 9th is the Christmastime classical music in Japan.
The behind the scenes is amazing. They flew the helicopters through the city. It wasn't allowed. The visual though is amazing
640 mill in 1988 is about 1.7 billion today
Yep not a bad heist if it went to plan that's a sh!t load of money for today .
10:34 Well, Bruce was kinda known only for romcoms... saying that "it is one copper but it is Bruce Willis" back in the day... would be such a great joke.
Yes, Die Hard 1 and 2 are Christmas movies.
Argyle was the boy who tried to rob Rays Music Exchange in “The Blue Brothers.”
You can buy the "ho ho ho now I have a machine gun" sweater, I'm getting it for next Christmas
57:53 A classy hero deserves a classy ride back home, when the deed is done.
Dude i love your spanish love songs shirt. One of my favorite bands.
It's Christmas Eve, don't forget to leave cigarettes, shoes, Twinkies, and a Beretta 92 in the ductwork for John McClane.
"Die Hard" walked so "Violent night" could run.
How to spot a North American watching Die Hard…
Is that a hockey puck?🤣🤣🤣

I enjoy you guys movie reactions not to mention your dog watching the movies with you.
Hoping you do the movie Nosferatu next😊
"Straw hair" was a famous ballet dancer.
We desperately need you to go through this franchise with 2 and 3.
39:48 No, quite a convincing performance from "Hanz"... changing his accent to an American one. I would have fall for it.
