Aww, when Ryan signs “she’s also deaf, you’re like me” with such a genuine smile! How precious! It’s going to be so amazing to see Java grow and learn sign ◡̈
My mom had a deaf dog and it was hilarious because if she signed to him something that he didn’t want to do, he’d look away. So she would walk around to his view, and he’d turn around so he wouldn’t have to do what she said.
I used to do that to my deaf mom when i was a rebellious teenager! 🙈😂 when i think about it now i feel bad, but when i did it at that time it was very effective 😂
It's weird to think that dogs don't even know they're deaf. They're just born like this and they assume everyone else is because no one can tell them otherwise
Hehe, I tell my puppy he's deaf and so is his dad (my dad)... and I tell him my/his mom and me are hearing and I say you're special and terrific ILY you're DEAF! I chat with him same as I talk to my hearing cat XD
I want to acknowledge something about Ellen, that if you don't realize is a real treat. It is rare that people speak colloquial or slang English And sign simultaneously. I noticed that you signed "needs to happen" but you said "have to deal" It's the same thing, essentially in this context, and it's a gift to be able to say those two things simultaneously. You are a gift to those of us really trying to learn.
I like hand commands especially when we are in public all I have to do is give a hand command. My service dog used a lot of hand commands and it just made it easier for him to focus just on me and not on all the noise around me!
True, maybe it's because dogs can differentiate hand signals over voice? Since we do tend to speak in a similar tone for everything, compared to dogs who communicate amongst themselves through body language most of the time besides barking, growling, and whining/crying which are also easily comprehendible as very different sounds
I love how you guys are already correcting her for unwanted behaviors even though it's not a big deal yet that she stand on your legs or whatnot because she's so small still. You're going to be amazing pet parents!:)
I imagine having a deaf dog can sometimes be quite a bit more pleasant in some (if not more) situations for a person of hearing, dogs often get excited/aggitated by noises and things triggered by loud noises. New years/any fireworks related event would be quite peaceful for you two I imagine xD
I was trying to read the captions, and my cat stood in front of the screen and WOULDN’T MOVE! Also, my friend has a deaf dog called Bug and he was so cuteeee
i was so happy when you guys announced you were adopting and even happier when i realized she was a pitbull!!!! 😭💜 she's so adorable and you can tell she's really smart like you guys mentioned! the whole paw and the gate thing blew my mind 😂 i cant wait to see her grow with you guys 💜💜
I have a request but I do not want to come off rude or mean or anything! I’m carious if Ryan can talk or what he sounds like when he does try talking, if he doesn’t feel comfortable I 100% understand. I like your guys videos! You inspire others.
A good thing you can do for your puppy is cover the top and sides with a sheet so she can have a little bit more of a quiet and less overwhelming space especially since she can see you and maybe might want to be with you more if she can see you. But it looks like she’s doing just fine! We do this with my pups so they can relax in a darker environment before bed and they love it! But do what’s best for your pup! Love you guys! She’s adorable! 🤟
She is ADORABLE!! I would love to see more habits she does that is a result of her being deaf. I would also love to see how you two train her using sign (if you choose to)! I love watching your videos! 💜
She’s so cute! If she continues to cry while In the crate and doesn’t seem to be getting used to it you could try to put a blanket over it, that may help a little 💛
I was just about to comment this too!! We use an old single bed sheet as the 'curtain' on the dog crate.. When they're needing a time out we leave the curtain up but shut the door and when they're going to bed/having a nap we shut the curtain and say goodnight!
The most wonderful thing was when Ryan goes “she’s like me” and tried snapping but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t as loud as he thought he was being and that’s precious to me. Y’all are soooo cute
Haha we have a deaf puppy too, and are learning how to sign for her (she is 9 months now). I laughed when Ryan was trying to wave and hitting the floor to get her attention because that’s exactly what we did at first haha. Our pup has learned when she doesn’t want to listen, she doesn’t look at us lol
When I got my first puppy I trained her using signs exclusive to her so she wouldn't be confused when I was signing in normal life, not sure if it was the best idea but it's worked so far.
I grew up with a deaf American bulldog mix boxer. All white with a brown spot around his eye. Named him Rocky! He meant the world to me because I am deaf in my left ear and we both had surgeries a month apart! He was the only other living thing (who i saw as my best friend) I knew that had a hard time hearing like me. I cant remember what exactly he had in his ear but he had such a bad infection that they had to do surgery on his right ear and I had my first major surgery to remove a cholesteatoma in my left ear. We were buddies! At the age of 9 I was scared of the surgery but it was comforting to know that I wasn’t alone. We both had so much issues with out ears. My miss Rocky every single day!
Bullies are usually VERY food motivated so they’re actually super easy to train! Especially as pups! I had 2 and when they were a couple of months old I had already taught them how to sit, lay down, roll over, and heel while walking, just have patience with them because they have a lot of energy!
That’s awesome. I am a deaf Australian guy and this video brought a smile to my face. A deaf dog, awesome 👍🏻 Your girlfriend is brilliant and supportive too, I need a lady like that in my life. 👍🏻🍻
In some videos, like the drive thru video, people are so rude to him and saying he’s faking it. But if they were nice people they would understand the difficult challenges he has to face while being deaf. When he said the puppy was like him my heart melted. We need more people like the sign duo in this world. People are becoming so mean!! They are genuinely nice people! ❤️❤️❤️
Awwwww so happy your getting a puppy. I think it’s really special that your getting a deaf puppy. Most people wouldn’t want a deaf puppy but you understand what it’s like and I know you’ll take good care of her. ♥️
Sign Duo Honestly it means so much to me that you’ve liked and replied to my last two comments. Thank you so much. I love you guys ♥️ BTW I’m the person who commented on your last video that you should get a yorkie. In cause you don’t remember.
She’s so cute I really liked when Ryan explained that putting her paw on the gate was a sign to let her know when the gate opens. I have 3 shitstuzs they follow me a around. It was adorable when she was following you guys around. She is a smart little puppy. She knows sooo much already
I have a deaf dog too and i can tell... Its a challenge specially when you're trying to educate them because sometimes they dont understand what we want and we had to get used to using gestures to express what we wanted, but i got used to it and now we are inseparable and i don't regret adopting her, shes a dalmatian and the deafness didn't built any barrier, she's happy and she brings happiness to me too
So happy to see that you guys adopted a Pitty! Not only a Pitbull, but a deaf one! That’s so awesome to see. They are the most amazing dogs you could have. She’s beautiful!
This is so exciting! I am so incredibly happy for you guys! She is adorable and so smart like you said!! Java is a perfect addition to your duo. Almost got me teary eyed this is so exciting, ugh i love it so much! All the best to you guys and lots of fun, even more joy and laughter with these new puppy adventures! Woohoo and lots more new words to learn to sign 🤗🤗❤️❤️
More and more I'm convinced there are people who just thumbs down their way through every video on TH-cam without taking in the content whatsoever cus how couldn't you like this? This is pure joy.
YAY! I've been waiting for this video all week. I just found your channel a few weeks ago, and I've already watched so many of your videos! You guys are so inspiring to me, a hearing person who wants to learn sign language and understand deaf culture. Since you posted your last video I have been checking every day to see if my notifications weren't working or something lol I was ready to see Baby Girl! I also wanted to add that she is going to be so well behaved. I grew up with black labs but once I moved in with my fiance we adopted a pibble pup, and he is the best dog. He is incredibly obedient and loyal. He was potty trained within a week (he was the standard 8 weeks old when we got him) and crate trained so quickly. He now loves to relax in his crate whenever he pleases. He is a huge snuggle bug and loves to socialize with other pups. She is so precious and I'm so happy for you two. Congratulations on the new addition to the family!!
I'm so glad that you enjoy our videos!!! Also we really appreciate your comment about her being well behaved! Your Pibble sounds soooo smart just like ours!
It's funny that of course, since you're deaf you would notice that she puts her paws on the door so she can tell when you open it. Literally the cutest. I love this channel. I just found you guys today!
I also just got a puppy and it is hard hard work. But don’t let it discourage you, keep pushing through the hard parts. Because at the end of the day she’ll be there to make you happy and you’ll have an extra soul who’ll love you unconditionally!!
I had a cat who was blind. Well she wasn't blind when we got her but with old age she slowly lost her eyesight. She went totally blind a little under year before she passed away. I miss my kitty💔 2007-2020 had her for 11 years, she was a rescue from the humane society because she was found as a stray.
Awww!! She's adorable!!! I had a Siamese kitty who lost her hearing at 7. Ironically I discovered she was deaf one night coming home from a sign language class and she was sitting in a chair cleaning herself and didn't hear me come in. I was stunned. I jangled my keys and she never looked up. But we adjusted. She was happy and lived to be 17. So glad you adopted a deaf rescue pup! She'll have a great life! ❤️❤️❤️
watching their videos at night with the captions on and their sign under the sheets when mom is around and sleeping makes me feel so comfortable..i can watch them whole night and why not bcause they are superrr cuteeee💖❤❤❤
Ryan's face expression went from a 2 to a 10. That's how much a puppy can do. Sure hope your feeling better that sure was a intense bruise last time I got a bruise like that I ended up breaking my knee cap
I love you two got a dog from a rescue organization. We have a pit mix and a hound... the pit from a shelter and a hound from a rescue organization. We have never crated either dog and we leave kibble out all the time. They know when to eat when hungry BUT, we also make fresh food for them as kibble and canned food is usually not all that nourishing. Veggies and meat with coconut oil and the drippings from the meat that is baked. Always nice to know what is in your dog's food. I'm learning ASL and teaching the hound to respond mostly w/out words. Thank you for your vids. Really enjoying them.
That's actually something that deaf people will do to get each other's attention, if you hit a surface or stomp on the floor you can feel it shake, so its not about the sound but the feeling
Aww, when Ryan signs “she’s also deaf, you’re like me” with such a genuine smile! How precious! It’s going to be so amazing to see Java grow and learn sign ◡̈
Joy, yeah, that was cute of Ryan to say
So glad to see her grow and progress! She’s already learned SOOOO much sign!
Sign Duo aww! can’t wait to see her progress in future vlogs ◡̈
weird question but how did u get that cute little smiley face? lol

My mom had a deaf dog and it was hilarious because if she signed to him something that he didn’t want to do, he’d look away. So she would walk around to his view, and he’d turn around so he wouldn’t have to do what she said.

That's a good point
when ryan said "you're like me," my heart swelled!
she is like me :D
mine too!
I have a heart attack every time his hands leave the wheel to sign like when he’s driving
Don't worry i haven't crashed! LOL
me too😂😅
Bruh. You should see like four-five people’s signing and driving. LOL
I was just thinking that and then I scroll to the next comment and see this 😂
Never thought of that
I want to acknowledge something about Ellen, that if you don't realize is a real treat.
It is rare that people speak colloquial or slang English And sign simultaneously. I noticed that you signed "needs to happen" but you said "have to deal"
It's the same thing, essentially in this context, and it's a gift to be able to say those two things simultaneously. You are a gift to those of us really trying to learn.
that makes sense why she speaks slow and sometimes takes a second pause
She's a good fit for you guys. You have good energy levels with her that she responds to really well.
Thanks for that!
@@SignDuoChannel 🥺
i find it so cute that she puts we paws on the gate so she knows when you open it, so wholesome!😍

Luckily dogs are VERY receptive to hand commands. My service dog almost solely relies on hand commands. I wish you both the best of luck!!
My dog isn’t deaf but she definitely responds better to hand motions than commands
