iironicgacha With all due respect: it can’t. “Hope you’re ok” would contain a contraction of ‘you are’ in the form of ‘you’re’
‘Your’ speaks of something belonging to ‘you’. It cannot be one or the other. That makes no sense whatsoever.

@@SignDuoChannel you should really adopt another dog if you can. Dogs are pack animals, they live in packs. Hearing is not their primary sense so its not that hard for a dog to live without it. Since dogs comunicate through body language and energy, it would really benefit the dog to have another dog to rely on 100%.

Its amazing the amount of people who are so ignorant about dogs. Does nobody knows dogs communicate with body language? Like most animals? Hence it won't be hard at all to teach a dog sign language. Its harder to get a dog to listen/understand to verbal commands than sign language.

    • @maribeljuarez100
      @maribeljuarez100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@AM-fh7ek don't know if you meant it to, but that came off kind of rude. Yes by now most pet owners know that or should know that animals are less responsive but what most people are more ignorant of is the whole ASL language itself. Thats what I meant. They're showing EXACTLY what you so rudely tried to state. ASL is a such a successful language because it's not just limited to one on one "human" interaction.

When she gets a little bit bigger you could try getting her a petsafe collar you can let her out with if you have continuous problems with needing to go out to get her when its time to come in! You press the vibrate button and you can train her to get her attention to come in from the backyard!

I have this for my cat! He kept crossing the road, our house is by a busy main road, we were worried he wouldn't return or get run off. We placed the under ground wire about the house and it works! Just have to make sure the battery on the collar is replaced every couple of months. My cat is 9kgs so the collar fits nicely.

Have you considered taking her to a veterinary specialist for hearing test? That way the vet can suggest a device that will play tones that she will be able to hear that will be useful when calling to her from a distance, training her, or if there is an emergency and you need her attention as soon as possible and can’t get to her.

  • @ezlyangel9990

We are a completely hearing family but we associate a sign with every verbal command to enforce what we are wanting from our dogs. And it truly helped when our dog lost her hearing from age. We were still able to communicate 🙂

  • @caseytaylor5566
    @caseytaylor5566 4 ปีที่แล้ว +75

Just a suggestion, but maybe tap her surroundings or wave your hand in front of her first to get her attention instead of tapping her from behind. Usually you’re not suppose to come up behind a deaf dog because that scares them and depending on the person she could turn around and bite ( not saying she would) but just a heads up. That’s what happened with my friends deaf dog. Someone came up behind him and touched his back and he turned and bit, not hard, but like a warning bite cause he got scared.

Yessss, I went to try and adopt a deaf pit bull once and someone came up behind her super quickly and scared her so she turned and bit my leg really hard and one of the volunteers RIPPED her lead out of my hands and yelled SHE SHOULDN'T BE OUT HERE SHE ISN'T FOR ADOPTION. I was like, she was PERFECT until someone scared her. I wasn't mad she bit me and then soem scary woman comes up and reprimand her and drags her inside... It wasn't right. It pissed me off so much.

So true! I had two golden retriever (they don't live with me but I visit them from time to time). One of them, Mila, sits when you close your fist and when we took her out to the park she would stop and sit when I stopped to cross the street, also when signaling the floor she layed down. The other one, Pepe, knows how to count, so he will bark the amount of fingers you put in front of him... it probably doesn't have a wide use like other commands, but it's still pretty cool and we praise him for being an intelligent boy

Java is so cute.😍 When I was little, I was attacked by a dog really badly, so a therapist suggested my parents get me a dog right away, so I wouldn’t develop a fear of dogs. They ended up getting me a deaf dalmation. (My family and I can all hear.) She was the best and smartest dog. We would pound on the floor to get her attention and then sign commands to her.❤️

What if you got a vibrating collar?(not a shock collar, just a vibrating one. It may also be a setting on a shock collar, and then just don't use the shock feature, but that's how it was on the one we had for our golden, but it was helpful cause she would run so far and wouldn't hear us calling anymore)Train her that when she feels that she needs to look at you, and from there you don't have to wait for her to look at you, you could get her to look at you. :)
Maybe also a dog whistle would work?

He face is like tooooo cute. I currently have a puppy a bit older than Java and it’s crazy enough with him being able to hear me call him (though he chooses to ignore) so I can imagine It can be a bit challenging to train her, but once she gets it, she’ll be set. Also, puppies seem to get sign language better then words sometimes😂

I used to be a nurse and worked with children on ventilators. We use to use sign language with the kids and I taught my pup (who is hearing) some signs. He knows how to sit, no, more, all gone and a few other signs. I think sign language should be taught as a language in school just like French or Spanish. Started following Java on IG. Thanks for letting us watch you all!!

Congratulations on your fur baby! Omg she’s a precious pup! I don’t know sign language but enjoy watching without captions so I can pick up things I understand then the second time around I watch with captions to see if I was correct! My husband and I had two dogs (lost one to cancer recently) but we’ve taught them a few hand signals which are important if they are at a distance and we don’t want to be loud (maybe someone is sleeping, or they are across the yard). We use signals for: stay in sight, come, go, quiet, and want a cookie? All signals were taught with words since they could hear and once reinforced and learned just the signal is used. Dogs are such a joy! Have fun, she’s going to grow up so quickly!

A tip for getting her attention!! Try to tap her surroundings such as hit the side of the crate when she's inside, or tap on the floor if she's lying down there to get her attention. Hopefully the vibrations will get her to look at you so she doesn't get scared by you just tapping her. Maybe this will help!

She's so cute! The key to training a dog is consistency! My dogs are hearing but when I was training them to do tricks, I had to teach them a sign or symbol first and then associated the word to the sign or symbol. I was told it was good to teach signs and verbal commands, in case, a dog loses his hearing as they age.
For calling Java in, you guys can use a flashlight or a vibrating collar.

    *LONG DEAF DOG ADOPTION STORY*
i adopted my dog from my local shelter almost 2 years not knowing she was deaf, she was about 1 year old when we got her. she was kenneled with about 5 other dogs which im assuming were her siblings or were all just strays and found together.
She never barked, when we called her she wouldnt pay attention, OH and she was ALWAYS scared (either from past abuse or just confusion).
We soon realized she was deaf and now to get her attention when shes outside, shes usually laying right on the wall or the house no matter the location, we hit the wall a couple of times so she can feel the vibrations and she looks up/wakes up/reacts she then knows its time to come to the door. our neighbor recommended not going up to her and tapping her and catching her off guard because they go into shock and you wont know if she will try to run and hurt herself or might even hurt you.
everyday you will learn how to adapt to your dogs needs better and better! best of luck to you guys!!!

I adopted my first puppy 4 months back. He was born completely deaf due to being a double merle. He is almost 6 months old now and he knows 20+ signals and commands through hand gestures and ASL. He even knows "bathroom" and will run outside to potty when I use that sign. He is an Aussie/heeler and is very much my velcro dog. I've found a lot of success through training him with a vibration collar. NOT A SHOCK COLLAR, obviously. I use the vibrate to get his attention. When we're at a dog park and he goes off to far, I give him a vibrate and he immediately perks up and looks for me. There are definitely some cons of having a deaf pup, but there are also a lot of pros. For instance they won't be afraid of fireworks or loud cars! They will also sleep a lot more. When it comes to training tricks, they're so much more focused because they're not getting distracted by all the sounds. The very first thing I taught my pup was "look at me" and he has taken that so well. I definitely recommend teaching that command super early on because later on in life they'll want to look for/at you more. My pup's name is Zero, because he has Zero hearing lol. Deaf dogs are amazing.

I melt every time! I just love Java! I had a GSD I taught sign language, English, and Spanish commands. It's so awesome to see them learning and responding. 💗

I'm so glad I found this. We are considering adopting a deaf dog. My big worry honestly is having people over and them startling or scaring her if they don't know how to act specifically if our house guests are children.

idk why but i just now recently became fascinated and wanting to learn more about how does someone learn ASL and associating words while being hard of hearing and also on the flipside of someone being a partner to a person that is hard of hearing, if there are any things that you find difficult in a relationship

She's so cute!! I'm so sad that my 13 yo min pin (one of two sisters) has gone mostly deaf over the past year. I thought she was just getting more lazy and defiant, but turns out she can't hear me most of the time. I am now searching TH-cam for how to communicate with her better. I love my babygirls so much, her sister Bella and the one that went deaf is Chloe. They are so sweet. They are now senior dogs and I pray they have several more years with me.

Such fun and informative info!! Even though my Daisy dog can hear, I sign. Skye gets eat and outside mixed up sometimes. But for the most part, she's a smart doggy! She just turned 8!!

You also might be able to use a little vibrating buzzer on their collar or maybe a little spraying mechanism with a fragrant oil and train them to give you their attention when you activate it

She's adorable!! And what teaching goes: even a hearing dog learns signs and body language (in some ways animals are smarter than most of people!) A deaf dog might just take a little more time!! That's all! 😊 And you guys are doing such amazing job by giving her a beautiful home and a place in such a lovely family!! 💖

When I would train my dogs I would add a visual cue to my commands as well as the verbal one, which many times made getting them to sit and stay a lot easier without any speech required. Turns out many dogs take to visual commands so easily and quickly! And it ended up being a big help when our dogs got older and lost their hearing, since they were already used to the non verbal commands! I’d be really interested in adapting this to a completely non-verbal training style if I ever got a deaf or HoH dog in the future as I found it so useful and easy

I definitely think a vibrating collar would be a good idea to be able to get her attention to be able to sign the command to her. It is an amazing training tool and I personally use one and I recommend it.

I got a Golden Retriever when I was 6 and I accidentally ended up training him hand motions (And verbal commands) Because I always did a certain hand motion when I said "sit" and a different one when I said "Stay" etc. In my mind, it was kinda just for catching his attention, but in the end I could get him to sit, stay, lay down etc with either a verbal command or a hand motion. It was actually very useful for him to understand hand motions.
