I work at a resort in Asheville and we are busy as heck right now... Amen! God bless all of the tourists coming to visit us right now even in the cold winter bringing us business. We appreciate the work y'all!!! Thank you!
I love finding little towns and villages like that one. The best thing I did in my life was leaving where I grew up (Tampa, Fla) and seeing and visiting real America. What a wonderful country.👍🇺🇸
My family and I are heading to Grandfather Mountain this weekend to do a little Christmas camping glad to see we’re not the only crazy people camping in December
We camped here for Thanksgiving and it was great. Bilt more is great. But right now you have to be sure and get reservations. Glad y’all enjoyed the area. Safe travels.
absolutely fantastic narrative.. thx for enjoying the river view and campsite fire and views.. looking forward to visiting that beautiful campground and downtown
Great video. My family helms from Black Mountain /Swannanoa Valley. My 7th generation Grandfather (Jones) owned land on the Biltmore Estate and is buried there on a family gravesite. Love the area. It does get very cold.
Stayed at this campground abt 3 years ago. it has well kept grounds , with nice, accommodating folks. They probably would have moved you to another spot if you had asked. Thanks for posting this video as it brings back good memories.
Abby the green head ducks are the male mallard ducks, the female mallards are brown all over including the head and yes you were right the first time. That is a beautiful camping spot. We love camping near the water too !!!
We have foot prints all over that area..love the NC mountains..lived in Chattanooga 10 years camped at Chester Frost Park toooo many times to count..Our Fathers Pizza in Black MTN..fab. their meat balls are the best..my choice every mother's day is that restaurant..a drive from Charlotte but worth it..thanks a great video
I believe that we passed through that tunnel when we went to Tennessee from Sylva NC.. anyway, Asheville is such a beautiful town.. it’s actually one of our favorite places to visit!
If you do come back to Black Mountain you need to go to Phil's BBQ at exit 64 on Interstate 40. They have NC style BBQ, chicken, and the best brisket I have eaten. When you go to Gatlinburg, be sure to visit Cades Cove and look around. Beautiful scenery, wildlife, and really old structures built by the people that settled the area.
With the cool temperatures, we added a small electric ceramic heater so we don't have to use so much propane in our furnace. We also use electricity to heat our water to save on propane. Thanks for posting your adventures!
I go to Montreat College and I love the town really cool that you guys got to visit. You guys should have explored some the hiking trails in the area. Beautiful views of the whole town. Great video as well.
Pizza.... Fresh. Breakfast... Blue Ridge Biscuit Co or Louise's. Open Oven for brunch. Breweries... Whistle Hop or Highland. ( All of these will be on our channel in the next few weeks). Glad y'all enjoyed the area as much as we do!!
@@bookyourview I should have mentioned Dynamite! We actually use their coffee for our mobile coffee trailer! They actually roast for the biscuit co and others in that area.
Born and raised in Asheville. My mom and her husband live in Swannanoa which is right at Black Mountain. So glad you enjoyed your time here. Safe Travels!
Those were mallard ducks you guys were watching at the campgrounds. Isn’t camping a blast. I always enjoy going camping. Thanks Adam and Abby for sharing your experience
I live in black mountain ..17 years..head to hot springs campground if you want to see a fantastic area w a river! Outdoor fresh spring hot tubs across the street.
Abom, It’s about time, I live in West Jefferson, near Boone NC, which is about 2 1/2 hours away highway driving, but about 3 - 3 1/2 hours drive on the blue ridge parkway. Thought you would never come up here and see the Blue Ridge Mountains!
Another Adam (AdamtheWoo) I watch goes to Gatlinburg a fair bit and it looks great there so I got a bit excited when you said you were going there, then the text came up :( Thanks for sharing another great video. Cheers.
Just came across your channel and we are watching your Asheville & Black Mountain video. Based on the weather I think we were camping in the Maggie Valley area at the same time. We are working now to get that video posted to our channel.
If you come back to the asheville area. Head north to weaverville and stay at camp fire lodging. Get a premium site. You will need to book way in advance.
Try the Barbeque Restuarant just down Rt 9 past Ingles Grocery store. . down from the main part of Black Mountain.. You can fish at Lake Lure down at Chimney Rock and in the summer Lake Lure has Pontoon Boat tours for an hour. The German Restuarant is the best ever! There is an art place by local artists in the old trolley car by the railroad tracks. Black Mountain is beautiful !
Hey Adam, I've lived here only 10 miles east of Swannanoa, and I too have never been to Biltmore House. Personally, it's a little rich for my taste. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Black Mountain is were we go for a lot of meals too.
@@AbomAdventures Yes, Biltmore is expensive. The last time I visited was in the 70's and it was expensive for the time, but reasonable. The history and grandeur of the place is interesting, but I would bypass it now, knowing what I know. Strictly due to cost. Not worth the investment.
Biltmore is better is the spring when all the outdoor areas are in bloom. Also, if you schedule it ahead of time it's cheaper and some places around Asheville have discount coupons for other sites around.
Let me recommend a campground, Campfire Lodgings. Its in Asheville on top of a mountain. We’ve been and its glorious. Winding roads to get there but it is so worth it, plan ahead!!
There is a real nice camp ground called Carolina hemlock you should check out. The river there is amazing. Its called the toe river . Its right below mount Mitchell
as far as ducks go, (we have 6) the ones with the green heads are probably drakes, (male) The noisy ones are female, having a hen session... imagine that. nice trip. my wife & I always enjoy your trips, thanx
I was a little skeptical when Noni gave me a Kindling Kracker for Christmas 2019. But after our first trip, I was thinking, "this thing works pretty good, but let's see what happens when I try it on some different wood." By the end of the summer, I was telling people it was the best thing I never knew I needed. No going back to a hatchet for me.
The reason I don't like private campgrounds is because how close the sites are to each other. We stayed in a former KOA in Missouri that the sites were so close the neighbors sewer connection was under our picnic table. Needless to say we moved the table.
Dang! I just went not far from there, on my way to Hunting Island SC for Xmas camping! We just bought a 2021 Bullett 330BHS and we love our KOA's. Might have to look at this
Good deal. I’m from Belmont. Next to Charlotte. My car club, “Carolina Z Club” go up there and drive our cars on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Glad you love our state. Next time try “Rockys Hot Chicken”. I think 4 locations. Thanks for the videos. Jeff K.
Every KOA I have stayed with was either next to a noisy highway or train tracks or both. I also try to avoid buying wood at the KOA for the same reason - wood too green, does not burn.
Many places you go to won’t allow you to bring in firewood from other places. Not that you can’t, but if you come into town looking for firewood, usually the camp is the obvious choice. If it’s kiln dried it usually always burns good. This place was going through so much wood they have trucks coming in daily with loads. You can tell it was recent cuts.
If you love art, I wish you had come on into Asheville on the 4 lane to the Folk Art Center. True mountain crafts and art brought out of the hills and organized decades ago.
Maybe this person who parked next to ya at the campground reserved that particular site before you ever thought of coming not to be a bleep but my wife and I reserve our thanksgiving spot a year in advance so maybe take it easy on both the people and the campground just a little food for thought.. most importantly we all love camping and we can enjoy each other’s company.. lets have fun and a good time doing what we love 👍
Love the video. My wife and I are saving up for a camper to start travelling with our two boys. I Loved your site there at the KOA. Weird question...but do you remember seeing any signs that said "no swimming" or anything like that? I know during the spring and summer my boys would LOVE to hang out in the water all day.

I'm from NC and miss my home state. Thanks for supporting the local restaurants and other businesses there.
Wow, it's so nice to see this campsite and area. Beautiful Thank you so much for sharing!
yes, there is a reason that the mountains of the North Carolina mountains are famous. Billy Graham had his home in Black Mountain.
Black Mountain is a great town! We love escaping to that area!

Hi. Loved y'all video. Thanks for sharing. 😁
Thank you both for the great video!!! That campsite look fantastic , a happy Christmas and New Year to you both and your family 🥰🎅🏼🎄🍺🍺
I've been by this campground a thousand times on the train and always wanted to stay here. It's on the list now for sure.
How is that railroad job in 2020? The Asheville yard is a ghost town from what it was just 5 years ago.
@@kylanm7053 ghost town is a understatement. We don't have thur frights just locals. Since they shut down linwood hump yard.

when i go camping i do not buy firewood from campground. i go out into community and buy some from locals. get more and it helps locals out
