That's some beautiful country side. (looks like where we live) Chimney Rock is absolutely spectacular. So glad you were able to see it. One benefit of winter in the mountains is that you can see a lot of features that are covered by summer foliage. Hope Abby's parents enjoyed it as well. Adam and Abby are probably among a very few folks in Florida who probably by now have as much winter clothing as summer clothing!!! LOL

We live in SC, but keep a camper (vintage Avion) in Apple Valley Campground, near the apple orchards. We love our place there and Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Hendersonville is our home away from home. Love Black Mountain, just that whole area. I see River Watch grill was mentioned.......love their bar. Ooops, did I say that out loud?? We also take another camper we have and meetup with families throughout the SE. Our trips are booked for 2021....come join us.

There is a great campground within walking distance of Main Street Chimney Rock called Hickory Nut Falls Campground. The owners are so nice. The best restaurant in Chimney Rock is The Riverwatch Grille and Tavern. My old stomping grounds in Chimney Rock and Lake Lure.

It is beautiful over there. Used to go hiking over years ago. If I remember right there are a lot of hiking trails around there.

My longest running employee has decided to leave us for a new job down around Asheville. I am sad to see him go, but proud to have been a stepping stone for him in his career, and happy to now have another friend in the area to visit. It’s a really beautiful spot on the earth. Please be careful on those knees! I took a weird step off the brew deck and tweaked one of mine a few weeks back, takes forever to work it out.

Hi Adam. Welcome to NC. I live in Lake Lure. Just down the street from chimney rock. Great state.

Sometimes you will see C130's fly up the valley there. They will be below you if you are up on the mountain. It's so badass!

I recommend an inversion table, Adam. It stretches everything out, relieves pressure on spinal nerves, allows discs to rehydrate and will even help with knee pain. You might need the big boy model but it is like having a world class chiropractor in your home. Inversion table and rowing machine have improved my fitness/mobility tremendously.

Were there few years back. When you did a shot over that rock wall at 4:37, that's Lake Lure in the background. Down next to it is where they filmed the movie Dirty Dancing.

Walt Disney designed the original elevator at Chimney Rock. He was a Civil Engineer before becoming a cartoonist/animator etc... and parts of Dirty Dancing was filmed at sites on Lake Lure. Featherheads Shop has some authentic Native American jewelry and products but they're expensive. Chimney Rock is a beautiful area but I usually visit on low tourist times since I'm only 30 miles away.

Abom, It’s about time, I live in West Jefferson, near Boone NC, which is about 2 1/2 hours away highway driving, but about 3 - 3 1/2 hours drive on the blue ridge parkway. Thought you would never come up here and see the Blue Ridge Mountains!

There's a swinging bridge called the Mile High Bridge . I believe in Linville which is near Grandfather Mountain and Blowing Rock (also great places to visit).

You should have dressed up like Hawkeye from last of the Mohicans lol. They filmed the last scenes of the movie there, it’s a cool place. I went up and found the Little Rock crevice that Hawkeyes brother hid behind after the movie came out in the 90s.

Kind of funny that you're afraid of hights and yet always go for overlooks, cliffs and bridges :-) Hope your knee gets better soon.
