It's finally time to review the games in the Dark Souls series. But rather than do a weighted review, instead I'm going to give you 10 Things I Love and 10 Things I Hate about Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls II, Dark Souls III, and Bloodborne. In the future, I'll use this series to talk about a number of different topics in gaming outside the Soul series, so I hope you enjoy it!

You should do a top 20 hardest non-boss enemies in Soulsborne I think it would be interesting
Lothric Knights, those Pontiff Beasts, and the Outrider Knights are harder than 80% of the bosses in DS3 lol. If Vordt was the Outrider Knight and the outrider Knight was Vordt he would be a harder boss fight. Thanks Miyazaki.
I don't have a problem with the Outrider Knights but the Lothric Knights in Lothric Castle and early game suck

IT'S GODZIRRA!!!!!! The hunters in Bloodborne tank so much damage, dish out tons, have Infinite stamina and bullets, and are sometimes placed in trips which makes them heart crushingly difficult. I feel like FromSoftware placed them where normal enemies should be placed, not realizing how hard they are

There is a BP katana skeleton just before the third reaper. quite simple to farm from him if you backtrack from the old hero's archstone.
-Regular silver skellies are the most fearsome enemies in the game

Yeah seriously I really want to play Demon's Souls, but I've never nor will I ever have a PS3. I have a PS4 though, so I really want a remaster
"poisons swamps" exist in literally every from soft game. King's field has it and even armored core has the equivalent levels with corrosive gas.
And areas that are so damn hot that if you don't have an amazing radiator you'll be slowly dying.
At least the poison cave in Eternal Ring had nice, uplifting music to juxtapose the constant massacre you experienced.

You forgot healing items. In Dark Souls you only have a limited amount of Estus Flasks and they are replenished when you rest at a bonfire. This means you won't have to grind for healing items and you can't just chug down some weed to refill your HP instantly. In Demon's Souls invasions can go on forever because whenever the other guy is almost dead, he just rolls back and takes some weed.
Demon Souls is the only soulsborne game I haven't played and watching these videos makes me want to get it.
It's a really great game. Still stacks up well against the rest of the seris!
But dont expect too much from the bosses. They all suck. They are all pretty easy (Even Flamelurker and the Maneaters are completely pushovers) and they arent really fun at all with 3-4 exceptions. And no i didnt use magic at all.

on111zuka They are more akin to the Legend of Zelda in Demons, in that some might be more puzzle than fight like the Dragon God, but they are all much less about an epic fight than finding a weak spot and beating it down.
Even Penetrator, despite me being scared of him first time...
It's so, so worth it if you main Bow. Demon's Souls had the best archer class in the series. The fully leveled Sticky Bow could wreck almost anything with a Dex build.
The biggest disappointment I had when I first tried Dark Souls was how god awful the bow had become.
Maybe because bow was way too op. U could kill most of the bosses without them touching you once
Honestly, farron woods is probably the most fun out of them, there was no falling, there was an objective, and since theres fast travel, you could get the bonfire, buy as many purple mosses as you could carry, and then go do the objective that adds quite a bit of value to the area.

I actually took a thousand tries over three days to get pure bladestone back in the day when I was trying for a platinum. It is always really good to hear someone say it out loud, but now its bringing back the traumatic memories.
All I'm gonna say is F$%^ THE PURE BLADESTONE. The one trophy I needed to platinum this game

6:46 You should have also included the Pure Darkmoonstone here as well. It's complete BS because it only randomly drops from the Crystal Lizards in 4-3. You know, the ones with only a maximum of 5 spawns before they are permanently gone. And if they did not drop the Pure Darkmoonstone, tough shit! You can't get that stone anymore for the current playthrough.
And to top it off, the Crystal Lizards are placed in close proximity to each other in spots that are intentionally obscured by the uneven terrain. So most likely you will have to focus on killing 1 or two tops, which guarantees that one of the others will escape, flushing another opportunity to get the Pure Darkmoonstone down the drain. And the last spoiled cherry on top is that 4-3 is plagued with Storm Beasts that will continually shoot your ass while you are relentlessly hunting the Crystal Lizards.
Sounds like it's not worth it right? Wrong. The Crescent upgrade path is essential for magic builds because not only does your weapon scale tremendously well with Intelligence, your Crescent weapon also regenerates your MP. So you WILL attempt to get the Pure Darkmoonstone. Enjoy pushing Shrine of Storms to Pure Black to try and increase the likelihood of the lizards dropping it. Oh yeah, Pure Black World Tendency makes it harder to kill them as well as buffing the damage of the Storm Beasts that are showering you with projectiles.

EDIT: Turns out it also drops from the Crystal Lizard in 4-2, so perhaps it's not so bad as the Pure Bladestone, but the above still applies since killing both Crystal Lizards in 4-3 and getting their stones is damn near impossible.
This, this is way Demon's Souls it's my least replayed souls game, the farming for upgrade materials fucking sucks, it's the worst i have seen in this series.

For Demon's Souls skeletons simply hit them before they get close enough to hit you. You had a Mirdan hammer which is a pole arm not to mention extra damage to skeletons because it's a hammer.
I haven't even realized that there's something called world tendency untill my third playthrough...
I am SO glad you brought up world tendency. My first playthrough was marred by areas i couldn't enter and things i couldn't get and try without a specific tendency. Recently i went through with the Dragon Bone Smasher and had an absolute blast once i knew how to operate the world tendency especially with having to go offline to reset it so that only my actions would affect it and not the online.
I just ordered a ps3 to play this game among other titles I missed out on. I cant wait!!!!!
joeseyeuh hell I did the same thing and for the MGS collection. There are some other ps3 games that are worth buying on disc and the psn store.

Tip here for those who wanna farm rare items, don't increase luck stat and do not increase item discovery
Since that enemy already drops items, increasing item drop rate does not increase chance for rare items so it only makes rare items even harder to obtain
If you wanna farm common items without increasing luck use large sword of searching from old hero soul and a curved sword i think it's +7 or +8

I love bloodborne but hate the long runs and healing system
Having to farm for healing and being locked at 30fps. Also dont like how trophies and upgrades are locked behind chalice dungeons... not very fun
But... but... I like the Gutter... This may sound strange, but I found that just casually exploring the dark, dreary maze of Gutters and creaky wooden crossings was entertaining, and at one point after I had killed most of the enemies, I found it peaceful to look through every nook and cranny. The Gutter to me gave me good atmosphere and some relaxing fun. The Black Gulch though, can die in a fire.

The World Tendency mechanic is rarely talked about but it's probably the most unique aspect of the game. If it's implemented and explained better in the remake that would be pretty cool
I find it quite amusing that for all its unnecessary complications such as inventory weight, Demon's Souls also had a few qualities that would come up in no other Soulsborne game thereafter, such as having your armory separated by category. Dark Souls just tosses all weapons into one bag, and while they're always sorted, you still often have to scroll through the entire bloody list to equip a specific weapon, whereas Demon's Souls right away gives you tabs for swords, pole arms, bows, shields, and so on.

Item burden is extremely annoying. I revisited Demon’s Souls recently and I hate going through a level and finding an item that I cannot pick up because of item burden. What makes it even worse that I experienced yesterday while playing the game is I went to the nexus to get rid of some stuff and when back to the items I couldn’t carry earlier only to find out they’re gone. Did this happen to anyone else?
Yeah, dropped items dissapear when traveling to the Nexus if they dropped from an enemy. All souls game behave like this, but Demon Souls is worse thanks to Item Burden mechanic.

To farm Bladestone effectively you have to be in Pure Black tendency, there is a red phantom ninja skeleton with its back turned, use Soul Suck spell on it to one shot it rinse and repeat.

What I've gotten off of it is, if you die in human form, the World Tendency darkens. Each World Tendency has its strengths and drawbacks. With White, your attacks do more damage and your enemies deal less damage, as well as it being easier to find helpful items, but rare item drop rates are lower, where with Black, you deal less damage, your enemies deal more damage, but as the main trade-off to that, rare item drops are more frequent and I believe you get more souls from defeated enemies.
You should have mentioned PvP infinite dark moon grass healing.

What I found so cheap, even unfair about the skeletons in 4-1 is that they feel like one of the only cases of artificial difficulty in the whole franchise. Especially with the fact that not only do they have far too much stamina, but their roll hurts you on top of their attacks.
This also is a very tiny nitpick, but I also hate the gender restrictions on unique armor.

The level design. People complain about DS2 and 3 not having the interconnected world design of DS1, Demon's Souls is so much worse. And on top of that, the quality of each world rapidly decreases the further into it you go, it might start out alright but then you're suddenly in a corridor simulator. You can tell that it was badly rushed.
Hirrei wut? Tower of Latria is great, well, except the first time you play it, which is pure hell xD
Hirrei hmm, worse than Valley of Defilement 1-1? That area for me takes the cake as the most cancerous in all of Demon's! The runup to the, Tower Knight, False King Allant and Old Hero come right next as most annoying sections to me
Hirrei wow, Latria after the first playthrough became fairly easy (except for that stairway to Man Eater boss), but Valley 1-1 always kicked my ass after the second or third time... And probably ever will xD

The thing I have gripe is for a game that focuses on studying enemy movements/attack and great details in combat, the hit detection are at times questionable, there are instances that I flinch when I happen to strike a wall but then enemy attacks can pass thru walls and strike me. Hit detection are sometimes off, the skeleton's pesky overhead slash cant be avoided by circling on the side because the skeleton's aim strangely follows you during its windup which doesnt make sense

I love this game too, but I think you missed one thing. The bosses aren't that great. It's just my opinion, but with the clunky AI and the limitations of its time some bosses can be trivial and some bosses can be way too hard. Some examples are
Flamelurker: He isn't a bad boss, but he is very exploitable and is too reliant on what build you take. I had a no shield strength build with no magic (dumb build but I went in blind) and even with a +9 crushing knight sword I didn't do that much damage to him. I also couldn't change my build to magic or find a good fire resist shield, so I was forced to dodge him, untill I learned to exploit him through the tail. Then I cheesed him to death.
The two first bosses in the valley of defilement: These guys are things that are made of shit and are shit. Nuff' said.
The Ajudicator or however you spell it: He is just too slow to be a fun fight and I rekt him so easily first fight. I got hit by him once, and it actually didn't do much damage. It was just a slow dragged out fight that was easier than the skeletons in 4-1.
Old King Backup Alot: This guy is Ok, but all I did was back up and wait for him to use his heavily exploitable charge attack to whack him a lot. He was so disappointing to me because all of his dangerous moves can be countered by backing away. Even his huge AOE slam can be easily avoided if you just back up. It's so exploitable that I found it boring by design. I can't even call it. Cheesing because of how out in the open it is. He looks cool, and he has some cool looking attacks, but overall just a bland fight.
And I could go on and on about the obvious flaws in demons souls's bosses, I know it's old and doesn't deserve to be bashed for its coding, but when comparing it to the rest of the souls series, even dark souls 2 beats demons souls with flying colors. Even though the fights are original, they just aren't great in my opinion.
But it's just my opinion. If you could explain why these bosses are good, I am glad to listen! I won't judge.

now im gonna give you a reason 4 you to look these bosses in a diferent way;do a sl 1 run from ng to ng+6.you will see what im talking about IF you take this challenge.

Creepyinc Flamelurker is weak agains´t magic.Even that crescent Falchion found in 4-1 is amazing vs him.

I only put points into luck and endurance. Equip broken sword and be a fucking tank. Laughing as scrubs slowly succumb to my weak attacks.

my one and only complaint about demon souls is the simple fact that as a player I wasn't given an option to spare or save garl and astraea that boss fight will hunt me all my life it is my most memorable gaming boss experience

I play as a mage in the souls games, but the trade off is that I can't take hits worth shit. In Demons', most bosses wrecked me in two hits or less. Those giant troll/goblin things in the valley of defilement kill me in one hit.
You kill it in 0.01 hits though. :D Yes, you are weaker but seriously, a Fire Storm can kill a maneater in one cast, even some other bosses, and definitely every single normal enemy in the game. And if you want to be safer, use Homing Soulmass instead. Almost equal damage and you can hide behind a shield while it fires.
First, I'm not saying that magic is weak, but that the trade off is that my character dies more easily. Doesn't take much at all what so ever.
Second, just because I can hit things really hard, doesn't necessarily mean they always get hit. Firestorm is random hit spots for where the fire shows up, homing soulmass misses if the enemy moves, and the same goes for other spells. That's the fault of spellcasters, especially against bosses. If your spell misses, which does happen, then you better be ready to roll, and roll well. One mistake, and you're dead.
Third, NG+ and up is a bitch if you're trying to be a spell caster.
The only reason I bring this up, is because a lot of the time people say it's easy playing magic, but the truth is that you're trading reliability for damage output. As a spellcaster you have to kill things before they get to you, otherwise you're dead from 1-2 hits most of the time, where as if you're a tank, 1-2 hits probably isn't even half your health bar.
Magic is waaaaaay easier though. Unless you're going tanky you'll still die in a few hits as melee, and you've got range and insane amounts of damage. Second chance also stops you from dying easily. It's far easier as a magic user. Dodging hits is never that hard in souls games. That's why pretty much every veteran souls youtuber will always wear the lightest armour they can because fast rolls are better than tanking hits.
NG+ is pretty easy too. At least the first time around since your character is still pretty OP at the start of the game. In any souls game it takes until at least NG+4 or 5 to really affect the difficulty since the enemy increase doesn't start to do much until your stats start to hit their softcaps and you stop getting stronger
What Tedurbin said, playing magic is the biggest double edged sword in the soulsborne series.
Considering that the endgame spells takes longer to cast due to their power one mistake is enough to kill you, and don't forget that you are on the teeter stance of being an asset or a liability in PVP.
Done right you can kill a boss with some people within a minute, however all it takes is one single attack and that mage is going down.
Sure, we can take on the whole world with our staff and magic. But in the end we all have the body strength and endurance of wet tissue paper.

I got the platinum trophy for demon souls... The pure bladestone trophy was the last trophy for platinum... That fucking skeleton. I don't even know how many times I killed him for it. Damn right I used the stockpile Thomas glitch to make hundreds of the pure bladestone and Proceeded to give one to every fucking player I ever met after that.
I love that this game is still getting attention til this day. I would love if the community came together and did like a "return to boletaria" event similar to the Dark Souls one. One can only dream of this game getting a Remaster.
While I haven't played Demon's Souls myself (sadly), I definitely have no trouble believing that bit about the pure bladestone. Some of the drop rates in these games are insanely broken, all the way up to Dark Souls 3. Case in point, I was making a bleed build and farmed for the grave warden twinblades. I sat there for about 2.5 hours, and having a quick look at the wiki article of the damn thing, I should consider myself lucky it only took that long (and keep in mind, this was on a high Luck character, which increases item discovery). Of course, some (statistically challenged) people insisted "it's not that rare", just because they happened to get it in a couple tries. Oh, and just as a nice big "fuck you", I was playing through Untended Graves with my pure STR character (who had no use for the weapon), guess what dropped instantly from the first grave warden I killed?....yeah.

Holy shit. Assuming you've been playing semi-regularly, that's pretty ridiculous. Still, I'd love to play Demon's Souls...they really should've re-released this on the PS4 instead of doing that pointless Dark Souls remaster (although if I remember correctly, From doesn't own the rights to the game or something, so maybe they couldn't even if they wanted to).
I always play a dex build in Demon's Souls and the first time I tried to farm the Pure Bladestone, it took me something like 110 kills. This wasn't in pure black world tendency or anything because, as a first-time player, I doubt I even knew how world tendency worked, but the crazy part is I'd rather deal with a 1% drop rate from a decently challenging enemy over having the stone be on a crystal lizard I may only have 4 shots at getting without starting a new game. The choice to make lizards only spawn after each boss killed in that world and then basically being shit out of luck may be my least favorite thing about Demon's Souls.

DS2 had great music what, it was super Demons' Soulsy from what I have heard from the Demons' souls OST, just better.
LeadFaun dark souls 1 music was had many vocals in most of its songs which is why I think the songs stood out, but I still prefer the primarily instrumental tracks of ds2
my list would have included the red dragon fight. granted its optional, but I totally hate just standing there shooting arrows or magic at it. Thankfully in my opinion they improved the dragon fights later in the series.
A few things could have been done to mitigate problems with World Tendency:
First would be to remove one shade of neutral (-1 or -2) to make it a 7 shade color chart instead of an 8 shade chart. Then you could have shifted direct from PBWT to PWWT by doing the 2 pure black events without an extra step of killing another boss. This means you could have played blind until the near the end of the game and then cleaned up the PB and PW tendency events without issue.
One other change that would have greatly alleviated the other main issue people have with it is to only round down your world tendency if the server average for that world is 2 shades or more below your local world tendency. That would largely prevent PWWT (+3) from constantly being rounded down to white (+2) if you play online.
#5 Dark Souls 1 did upgrades slightly better by merging hardstone and sharpstone into normal titanite, but still convoluted. Here's where its Dark Souls 2 time to shine. Simple, upgrade normal weapons with one type of ore and then, no matter the level of the weapon, you can change the properties of the weapon with an infusion stone. Don't like the infusion? You can get rid of it without having to start from scratch by melting the weapon down to +0, +5, or +10, just slot in a different type of infusion.
#8 I've never tried it myself, but your naked fists are blunt damage type and supposedly can do quite a bit of damage to the skeletons on a fresh character by just punching them. To the point that it outperforms many lowly upgraded starting weapons.

In regards to poison areas, are there any ways you could make them better? Would drastically slowing the poison to where it only poisons you if you take it way too slow make it more fun as it would just punish you for taking it really slow. Maybe having the poison just make you more vulnerable to other sources of the poison (mostly enemies). What about providing a few areas that heal the poison with something? Do any of these work or is poison in the terrain irredeemable?
Love your content, and you've replied to me before (even used one of my comments in your video), and I was hoping you'd reply again. I seriously started laughing out loud when you mentioned pure bladestone. I remember spending a ridiculous amount of time farming for it. Luckily, I had several friends that played this game, and we just duped it until we had what we wanted. Normally I think uses glitches is cheap, and I avoid it, but pure bladestone was so stupidly rare that it almost deters you from making a dex class. Hard drops are fine, but farming is the biggest problem with almost every single RPG series, and Demon's souls is the biggest culprit of all of them. Not to mention the ridiculously complicated weapon leveling mechanics in the game. When I got dark souls, I honestly thought I was missing something at first because the mechanics were so much simpler.

Honestly the only thing I had a problem with on World Tendencies was that it gets messed up when you go online. I screwed up my chance to turn Stonefang to Pure White because I wasnt aware of that fact prior.

Loved Demons Souls, I am one of the few people who started the Souls series with this game, but it is the most flawed game being the first of it's kind. Ladders suck ass, I got lucky with the Bladestone, got it in just over an hour. But my God, dying NPC's trying to get their questlines completed and you can't until the next playthrough is merciless. It just sucks the online is shut down :( rip. I used to play PVP a decent amount.

Am I the only one that didnt like the idea of gendered armor sets, why is it impossible for male characters to wear the lighter female sets, and why is it impossible for female characters to wear the bulkier male sets, that was something I really didn't get
I personally hated that. To me it seems like just something that was just... Unnecessary, you know? Though I also hated the gendered variants of unisex armor as well. But I agree. I so wanted to do a Fashion Souls build with my knight in Demon's Souls, but as a female, I unfortunately can't equip Garl Vinland's set.

actually I kinda like the gutter and farron keep, the gutter is amazing because its basically pitch black unless you have a torch, lighting up the area as you go to give you a pathway, and farron keep is the souls' best done maze like level, its so hard to navigate as theres little points of interest and you legitimately feel lost.

The only thing I really don't like about DeS is just the dominance of magic. You could just "lol firestorm" your way through every single boss in this game as soon as you get it and everything will die in one shot. EVERYTHING
This is my first time watching your videos and as soon as i heard your voice, i subbed right away, for some reason when a content creator has a unique voice(or at least does not sound boring and unenthusiastic) i instantly like their shiet. go through some areas of one of the soulsborne games. Play a specific song from any soulsborne title that you think would fit best with an area.
I tried the nameless song from Dark Souls 1 for the very first place in Dark Souls 3, it really added some extra atmosphere, i think any one would enjoy it.
I just pulled up google to play some extended soundtracks while playing through Dark Souls 3 on Steam, and let me tell you, Gherman's theme fits so well with the Dreg Heap for some reason.
i dont really mind ONE poison area in a game. swamp/blight town werent designed to be happy cheerful areas, they are supposed a painful grueling slog and on fist playthroughs some of them do that. i remember my first time through blight town, i entered through valley of the drakes and fight my way backwards to find out i entered right next to the boss and didnt have to do it. ds2 doesnt get this with its over use of poison but ds1 and 3 did it well by limiting it to one area that is easy to traverse once youve done it before.
There are two things I hate about demon's souls, 1. How the dragon God boss is being played and 2. Putting the scrapped sixth archstone, like what's the point, if you're gonna reject a level of the game you can change the story to there being five archstones, I don't understand why demon's souls never got a DLC, that was fromsoft's chance at reimplementing the archstone of the giants
3:56 to add on top of that - if you explore the area and happen to pick up gear which is too heavy for you to carry, you can't just leave it be, it drops near you and disappears if you reload the area, stupid mechanic.

PSA emulators are working well enough now to play Demon Souls, I did my first ever playthrough very recently and everything seemed to work perfectly. Obviously it lacks online components but still you get to experience most of the game.
I think I farmed the Pure Bladestone for at least 10h, maybe even up to 25h. Painful farming experience indeed. Getting the crystal lizard drops was also quite painful.
If I recall correctly, If you attack an NPC by mistake in Demon's Souls and you didn't hit them so fucking hard but hard enough to get them hostile, if you put your shield up and not attack them while they attack you, after a few blocks they accept your apology. Or was that Dark Souls 1? I forgot.
I think the skeletons is how I grinded demons souls. The world tendency is the only thing I didn't know how to do, demons souls is also the only souls game I soloed only because I could not join anyone
