I audibly gasped at work when I saw the trailer with the upside down guy. Everyone looked at me and I didn't care I was so excited. Slightly disappointed it's not fromsoftware remaking it. I had some slight hope they'd expand it with the giant stone restored but can't wait for this. Dammit I was really hoping I could hold out from buying a launch ps5

As someone who hasn't played this game but loved the rest of the souls series it's less like "Oh shit they made it look so good" And more like "HELL YEAH A NEW SOULS GAME!"

I never actually finished Demon Souls, but I never played it until about 5 years ago in the first place. I think I quit at about the time you fight the flame-demon or whatever it was. I have finished Dark Souls 1, most of 2, all of 3, and got Sekiro 100% done. So this remake has a lot of potential to keep my interest so I can actually finish a version of Demon Souls. This is another good reason for me to actually get a PS5, as I skipped the PS4 (have a PS3 though). Since Bloodborne actually bored me pretty immediately when I played it somewhat recently on a friend's system, I'm hoping that I won't have the same issue with this remake.

The fact I still remember which NPC you're referring to, what item he requires for that line to trigger, what level where to find it and more importantly what chain to break for it to fall so you can pick it up shows me how many times I did that small but endearing quest line. Amazing game.
but considering its size (it is bigger than the midir just to get an idea) how are they going to do to have a decent boss? make it like the old iron king in a matter of boss fight or decrease its size and make it a "midir 2"?
Shadow of Colossus but souls style. It would be a great addition to boss battle types. Right now we got the human boss, gank boss, and monster boss, but giant kaiju boss would be so awesome with new and exciting possibilities. Then come bloodborne 2 we can finally fight Cthulhu, who's height can be measured in godzillas

Yep same, it was my first souls game and I was younger then and not very good lol I played them all now and beat them all multiple times so I think I’m ready. :)
From what I see they are easy to beat if you know their weak spot as you can see in the video.I played Dark souls,bloodborne and even sekiro bit the hardest game for me was Nioh 2
I remember when I got Demon's Souls. I randomly stumbled upon some 480p preview footage of a game I had never seen before, but it looked AWESOME, the dark gritty world, thoughtfully paced action combat, I was all about it. I ordered the Japanese version because it released 8 months before the NA version, the translations were rough (but funny), and other than what I saw in that brief video I didn't know what to expect. Demon's Souls beat me down, over and over again. I learned, I overcame, and got beat down a lot more along the way, but it was so damn rewarding unlocking that new zone, or killing that scary boss. Nobody I knew was aware of the game at the time, so it felt like uncharted territory and I loved it. While the sense of mystery and discovery won't be the same the second time, I'm looking forward to going back to Demon's Souls and showing the Adjudicator, Allant, and all the other bosses that slapped me around a thing or two I've learned in the past 11 years.
i really hope to see the broken archstone on demon's souls remake, the land of giant's could be an amazing extra content for this remake. ps: the tower of latria was the main inspiration for the bloodborne atmospheres, im very courious to see those locations in the new remake!
There's some unused content left on the disk of the original, including a map in a frozen land called Northern Limit. And what's the second image we see in the remake trailer, but a snowy mountainside. I think we're getting that sixth archstone!
Yeah, I haven't even played Demon Souls but all the other games. I was confused at first but the moment the singing and visual came in I knew what it was. I don't think I've jumped up and down for a game in so long.
Dude, nobody in their right mind would even dare to skip the intro cinematic after booting up the game! After viewing it so many times, it's hard not to know the intro outright even with updated graphics.
I think it says more about the people _noticing_ that there are a lot of bare feet in the franchise than it does about Miyazaki. Why is that a point to bring up at all unless people were looking for it, no?

I honestly don't think he has a foot fetish at all. Out of all the female characters in the series only like 3 or 4 of them are bare foot. If characters like the Plain Doll or Arianna that have obvious sex appeal had been barefoot he'd be onto something. Bare feet is a rather common literary device that is meant to symbolize innocence and youth. In Pricilla's case this suits her as she is depicted as kind and childlike. Miyazaki is known for this kind of visual storytelling.

He was saying his first time playing it he couldn't get anywhere and Sony dropped the ball on marketing. Before the PS4 came out he said Dark Souls and Demons Souls were tied for his second favourite game and spent hundreds of hours playing them, he had no real reason to lie about it. I know all this because I've been obsessively looking for any hope for a Demons Souls remake for years haha

The friend who got me into the Soulsborne series played them all with me backwards. When we got to Demon's Souls though, it was a blind playthrough for both of us. It was insanely cool running OG Souls blind after a couple hundred hours in the other games. It stands the rest of time, and OH MAN I can't wait for the remake!

Still a fun game though and there are some things I think it did better than the later games (atmosphere was great, level design pretty good too, and world tendency is a cooler mechanic than hollowing imo.)

I fell in love with dark souls, so much it made me play every souls game from DS1 to sekiro. I unfortunately never played demon souls because i never had a PS3, but after this announcement I’m so excited to play this game that started the souls series.

I know it's an old video by now but your genuine excitement in the showcase reaction reverberated to me, someone who didn't get to play DeS in 2009, so well I teared up (twice!) It must have been surreal to get a game that has special place in your heart get the treatment that it did, as a flagship title of a new gen console no less!
My favourite weapon along with the Hiltless (or the Uchigatana 'til you find the Hiltless). I also miss the gender exclusive armour sets, and even that the unisex sets, while some look pretty much the same (eg: Gloom and Brushwood), others look slightly different (eg: Mirdan, Chainmail) and while others totally different (eg: Fluted, Plate), whereas on Dark Souls, armour and germents look pretty much the same on both genders.
Love that weapon, anything that threatens you pancaked to the floor. Never used anything else once I got it and always the first thing I go for. Really easy to miss if you don't know about the tendency system.
When I was deciding what to buy between an Xbox or ps3, I read about this game being released and thought it looked amazing. I even bought the US version because it hadn’t been released in the U.K. at that point. So glad I did because it’s still probably my favourite game of all time. It makes me wonder how it wasn’t a huge hit right away if it had that much of an impact on me just from reading about it! Feel like, as with the ps3 I’ll have to buy a ps5 just for the remake, but I now have a lot more responsibilities and will be difficult to find the time to play >:( Bladestone was a b*tch though. Demon Souls, aside its linear approach, it has a good learning curve, and more immersion. Dark Souls 1 has a shitty learning curve, confuse map design, annoying stuff that makes you restart the game like consuming a Fire Keeper Soul (the game never tells you that would be better off giving to the keeper instead of consuming it), also is really hard for mages, because it gives you no better spells until mid to end game. Dark Souls 2 never played. Dark Souls 3 is too flashy, has no immersion.

Demon's Souls was my first PS3 game. My buddy and I went and picked it up with a brand new PS3 at gamestop, maybe a year after the game was released. We played for HOURS. I wasn't going to get a PS5 until I saw the remake trailer, now I gotta. My buddy isn't here anymore so I gotta play for us both
I still get goosebumps watching the 2009 trailer. I love seeing you completely nerding about it in the end. It's like me trying to show it to my friends and explain why it's awesome lol
Demon's Souls was my first Souls game. It made me fall in love with the Souls genre, which ultimately led to one of my favorite games on the PS4; Bloodborne. I fanboyed so hard seeing this trailer. I'm so happy that the rumors of a remaster/remake were true, and I'm so happy that Demon's Souls is coming back and people get a chance to play it again.
I didn't even play Monster Hunter tail Monster Hunter World on the PS4. Because Capcom was stupid and kept making handheld games instead of console games until Monster Hunter world that is. Now I'm a fan of the souls games and Monster Hunter
The dark souls remaster on the switch means i can be gaming on the clock. I got paid 6 hours time an a half on memorial day plus a full 8 hours holiday pay to farm sens fortress for demon titanite and kill the iron golem without bringing a tv and console to the store.

They didnt bother to remove the backstab chains, and everything that was wrong with ds1 in the first place. @@genesisosuna true, it isn't that much work to balance the game so at least it isn't broken(PvP wise) Heck many remastered games have added cut content or added stuff to the base game. Imagine if lost izalith was complete with new demon enemies, bed of cheese not being bed of cheese and much more.
I've played through DeS probably dozens of times and it's one of my favorite games I've ever played, but if there are things they "fix" (Stockpile Thomas duping) without addressing the reason those were valuable (limited crystal lizard spawns? Who thought of that?), we're going to have some real problems. I think losing levels to fall damage as a phantom or red signs would be regarded unfavorably now, and I can't imagine what sort of nonsense an Old Monk could get into today, but I honestly appreciate a lot of DeS cheese in a way I never would with other games. Maybe my fear is that devs will buy too much into the hype of the series' difficulty and remove a lot of the silliness. I liked stormruler knocking people off edges, scraping spear invasions, having a broken early weapon like the Crescent Falchion if someone knows where to look. There were so many goofy elements to the first game in an excellent series that were later scrapped in the name of realism or challenge and I just hope it doesn't lose its charm in a remake. In short, the game has got a heart of gold and I don't want it taken.
My main use for the stockpile dupe was so I could pvp without having to farm grass. I would only use like 5 grasses per encounter, unless the other person was spamming them. Then I just went crazy with them and kept the fight going until one of ran out. Good fun
Totally agree. I've only gone through it a few times, but I do appreciate its weirdness. I'm guessing they're going to try to balance it for a new generation of players. Things are going to get nerfed and buffed, per the usual. And the old skips will go away, obviously.
You don't need to dupe. It's just convenient. It's actually not that hard to get a world to Pure Black and kill all the lizards for upgrade stones, before getting back to Pure White with Colourless+special Black Phantom+Final boss.
As soon as i saw this trailer i was sold!, ill never forget trying to get through that first level thinking that it is the most difficult game i ever played at the time. Been a massive fan ever since, I found Bloodborne and the DS3 ashes dlc to be the toughest
Steve C Demon Souls has met my expectations I recently started playing it beat it in less than 16 hours with the royalty class I'm trying to get the platinum trophy I failed to get the platinum trophy on the PS3 version I'm trying again on the PS5
I’m so glad someone else appreciates this god tier intro cinematic. I’ve had a somewhat typical story as a die hard souls fan in that I played/enjoyed them all but never beat one/fell in love till Bloodborne. Never went back on this one though, lost my PS3. I remember watching this when the game pissed me off, so a lot lol. In fact that’s probably why I remember it so well. This slow burn of appreciating my favorite game series all started with that OG hype ass cutscene... Thanks for the nostalgia trip Iron Pineapple
Knowing how Bluepoint handled Shadow of the Colossus, I think it's pretty likely that they'll only make cosmetic changes with some ~very~ minor additions.

I actually played Demons Souls before I ever even knew what Dark Souls was. I'm beyond excited for the remake! Maybe I'll actually go finish the original/ start over in preparation. (Don't judge me I never beat the final boss cause I played too much and was burned out on the game by the time I got to him)

I hope it is but with some sort of "real strategy" and fun and hard challenge. For example, having to go through the interior of the fortress looking for arrows to put on the ballista, having to pay attention to the Boss patterns and stuff... I think they could make one of the most if not the most original and cool boos fights of the Souls games. It really comes down to how they do it. If it has to be exactly the same as it was in the original, then it would be a waated opportunity

I am so excited for this. I stumbled upon this game while I was stationed in Korea. It was the best thing that has ever happened to me. So I am beyond excited for the remake.
It makes me happy knowing that somebody else shares the same love that I have for the original Demon's Souls trailer. Every time I played this game, I'd never skip the intro, much to my flatmates's annoyance xD They just didn't get it ahaha
It was more of a port to last gen honestly. Wonder if it'll come to PS5/Series X. Now what can't be forgiven is the removal of PTDE on Steam. The original Dark Souls 2 and SotFS are still up, so why isn't PTDE? Such greed.
My first playthrough was after the servers had been shut down, so I was using the DNS workaround server with like 5 people online max. I remember specifically getting invaded in the tower of Latria. I was already having a rough time and I just walked past the guy pretending like I didn't even see him because I knew I would lose in a fight. This guy just took the lead and helped me all the way to the boss. It was honestly a lot of fun, and getting to that big ballista crossbow wall and hoping I didn't fuck it up and lose my new ally was a thrillride. I played the game once way back before the PS4 was even out and I didn't even make it to the first boss. Seeing that save on there surprised me because I honestly didn't remember anything about it. Only finished the game after playing every Fromsoft title released after it multiple times. With that perspective, going back to this jank after adapting to faster paced and more responsive combat was a nightmare at first. The UI is also something that needs a lot of work. I couldn't tell you what any of the symbols represent when looking at stats, they're nonsense and I couldn't get used to it.
Shadow of the Colossus also had unfinished areas and colossus so I don't think they'll be adding actual new areas and content asides from changes and improvements.
@@Aveziel You're mistaken, Demon Soul's (PS5) is supposed to be a Remake, just like Resident Evil 2 & 3, not a remaster like Shadow of the Colossus. They ùay call it a remake and then simply remaster it but for now, it is called a remake and may be changed/improved.
@@NobodySoldier Maybe it's Sony's way of "rebooting" the franchise. They own the IP, there is a void that Dark Souls left when the series ended. So yes, I think the game will have new content based on unfinished assets and new ideas entirely, maybe leading them into making a proper sequel. Sony Japan Studios worked on both Demon's Souls and Bloodborne, and they are working on this remake. Maybe they'll take the series from there.
unfortunately i played demon's souls after i played the rest of the series and blood borne so I didn't get to experience how it was when it first came out i was spoiled by more polished gameplay of ds3 and bloodborne so i didn't have very much fun playing it i really think the remake could be amazing though.

I agree. The extra details seem in place. Like Vaati pointed out that the arena for the tower knight is oveegorwn with vines and the sheild of the tower knight has suffered from rust. Plus, ya know, the tower knight is outside. In broad daylight. And is reflective which would naturally make even an arena with tall walls surrounding it light up quite a bit.

@@animeguitarguy I see your point but I'd still argue the tower knight example is a poor one just due to the mechanics of how light works in general and how far it lighting has come in video games since 2009. Perhaps they could put a partially destroyed roof over the arena to dampen the lighting effects. I'd wait until we see some place like the Valley of Defilement 2-2 or Tower of Latria 2-2 to determine if it's dark enough. The church where you fight the Fool's Idol looks to be dimmer than I remember and the stained glass windows look less vibrantly colored, to use another reference from the trailer. Also we know that trailers, especially early ones often turn out to be inaccurate with things like color palette and lighting and get exaggerated so it looks flashier on screen to attract people. This is all subject to change but if you feel it's that much of an issue, don't stop talking about it. Personally I'd want to see a person attempt to make the lighting darker with the screen shots they can pull and have a side by side, but as of now I am pretty content with that aspect. Not super thrilled with the Flamelurker redesign. I definitely prefer the older one but at least he doesn't appear to just be a yellow-white blob anymore. Even in the cut scene, although he was cool and impressive, the lighting effects ruined alot of the detail and made it hard to make out.

Its literally the first area, and the second boss man, its out door in an open area with relatively normal lighting. Saying the game looks too bright and colorful from that is like looking at Majula or firekeep and saying, "WOW, this game looks real peaceful!"

@@hellschatt Most people don't even understand the lore of DeS. God gave humans miracles. Humans corrupted those miracles with forbidden soul magic that created undead immortal zombies that eventually go crazy. Because souls are the source of god's power, he came to earth as a demon to reclaim all the souls to give birth to a new age that isn't corrupted. Then an undead guy killed him, which made the world stop working entirely, ushering in an age of darkness. BTW this ending ties into Dark Souls perfectly. But for legal reasons, they're "entirely" different games. Once the undead killed god, that plunged the world into darkness and created the lord soul. Dragons, gods, lightning, age of fire, yada yada yada...I'm sure you know how it starts. But it's possible you play as the same undead that killed the Old One, the same undead who lost the lord soul (or had it stolen) and managed to only reclaim a small amount, as the furtive pygmy. It would be neat to see confirmation of the theory that the lord soul is the abandoned power of the guilty undead who plunged the world into darkness, but like I said it probably won't happen.
I remember by first impression of Dark Souls 2: "Huh, so it's much brighter than the previous game. Maybe things will be bathed in light." Literally every area past Forest of Fallen Giants and Heide's Tower: *pillar man poses while stomping me*
My Souls journey, in order of what I played first: 1) Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition (made it to Firelink Shrine and tried like hell to progress down past the skellies without realizing you could go UP, gave up on the series for about a few years) 2) Dark Souls 3 (stopped playing at Soul of a Cinder, didn't want it to end.) 3) Dark Souls Remastered - Loved every second of it (I learned I was supposed to try and Ring a Bell and that the first bell was UP, liked it much more this time) 4) Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin (playing this right now, early stages) love it, don't care what people say 5) Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Hated it at first, but now I understand it. Just amazing. early stages...
Just finished Dark Souls 2 few months ago and It's great compared to what the critics say about it. Bonfire Intensity, dual wielding, build variety, weapons, spells. Enjoy, Bearer of the Curse.
Man, between this and the probable Bloodborne 2 in a year or so, I'm gonna have to buy one too. Bloodborne 1 was basically what I bout the PS4 for, and the only other game I got for it was BFV.
Same I’m making the switch, I’m excited for spiderman, Horizon zero dawn 2 and this. I have an Xbox but I played spiderman and Horizon on a friends ps4 and I loved it.

I never actually finished Demon Souls, but I never played it until about 5 years ago in the first place. I think I quit at about the time you fight the flame-demon or whatever it was.
I have finished Dark Souls 1, most of 2, all of 3, and got Sekiro 100% done. So this remake has a lot of potential to keep my interest so I can actually finish a version of Demon Souls.
This is another good reason for me to actually get a PS5, as I skipped the PS4 (have a PS3 though). Since Bloodborne actually bored me pretty immediately when I played it somewhat recently on a friend's system, I'm hoping that I won't have the same issue with this remake.

I remember when I got Demon's Souls. I randomly stumbled upon some 480p preview footage of a game I had never seen before, but it looked AWESOME, the dark gritty world, thoughtfully paced action combat, I was all about it. I ordered the Japanese version because it released 8 months before the NA version, the translations were rough (but funny), and other than what I saw in that brief video I didn't know what to expect. Demon's Souls beat me down, over and over again. I learned, I overcame, and got beat down a lot more along the way, but it was so damn rewarding unlocking that new zone, or killing that scary boss. Nobody I knew was aware of the game at the time, so it felt like uncharted territory and I loved it.
While the sense of mystery and discovery won't be the same the second time, I'm looking forward to going back to Demon's Souls and showing the Adjudicator, Allant, and all the other bosses that slapped me around a thing or two I've learned in the past 11 years.
They're probably going to get new voices for everyone, but imagine if they kept old king Doran's old death noise

The friend who got me into the Soulsborne series played them all with me backwards. When we got to Demon's Souls though, it was a blind playthrough for both of us. It was insanely cool running OG Souls blind after a couple hundred hours in the other games. It stands the rest of time, and OH MAN I can't wait for the remake!

My favourite weapon along with the Hiltless (or the Uchigatana 'til you find the Hiltless). I also miss the gender exclusive armour sets, and even that the unisex sets, while some look pretty much the same (eg: Gloom and Brushwood), others look slightly different (eg: Mirdan, Chainmail) and while others totally different (eg: Fluted, Plate), whereas on Dark Souls, armour and germents look pretty much the same on both genders.

It is still, to this day, my favorite Souls game.
When I was deciding what to buy between an Xbox or ps3, I read about this game being released and thought it looked amazing. I even bought the US version because it hadn’t been released in the U.K. at that point. So glad I did because it’s still probably my favourite game of all time. It makes me wonder how it wasn’t a huge hit right away if it had that much of an impact on me just from reading about it! Feel like, as with the ps3 I’ll have to buy a ps5 just for the remake, but I now have a lot more responsibilities and will be difficult to find the time to play >:(

Demon Souls, aside its linear approach, it has a good learning curve, and more immersion. Dark Souls 1 has a shitty learning curve, confuse map design, annoying stuff that makes you restart the game like consuming a Fire Keeper Soul (the game never tells you that would be better off giving to the keeper instead of consuming it), also is really hard for mages, because it gives you no better spells until mid to end game. Dark Souls 2 never played. Dark Souls 3 is too flashy, has no immersion.

Demon's Souls was my first PS3 game. My buddy and I went and picked it up with a brand new PS3 at gamestop, maybe a year after the game was released. We played for HOURS. I wasn't going to get a PS5 until I saw the remake trailer, now I gotta. My buddy isn't here anymore so I gotta play for us both

Demon's Souls was my first Souls game. It made me fall in love with the Souls genre, which ultimately led to one of my favorite games on the PS4; Bloodborne. I fanboyed so hard seeing this trailer. I'm so happy that the rumors of a remaster/remake were true, and I'm so happy that Demon's Souls is coming back and people get a chance to play it again.

I've played through DeS probably dozens of times and it's one of my favorite games I've ever played, but if there are things they "fix" (Stockpile Thomas duping) without addressing the reason those were valuable (limited crystal lizard spawns? Who thought of that?), we're going to have some real problems.
I think losing levels to fall damage as a phantom or red signs would be regarded unfavorably now, and I can't imagine what sort of nonsense an Old Monk could get into today, but I honestly appreciate a lot of DeS cheese in a way I never would with other games. Maybe my fear is that devs will buy too much into the hype of the series' difficulty and remove a lot of the silliness. I liked stormruler knocking people off edges, scraping spear invasions, having a broken early weapon like the Crescent Falchion if someone knows where to look. There were so many goofy elements to the first game in an excellent series that were later scrapped in the name of realism or challenge and I just hope it doesn't lose its charm in a remake.
In short, the game has got a heart of gold and I don't want it taken.
My main use for the stockpile dupe was so I could pvp without having to farm grass. I would only use like 5 grasses per encounter, unless the other person was spamming them. Then I just went crazy with them and kept the fight going until one of ran out. Good fun
Totally agree. I've only gone through it a few times, but I do appreciate its weirdness. I'm guessing they're going to try to balance it for a new generation of players. Things are going to get nerfed and buffed, per the usual. And the old skips will go away, obviously.
You don't need to dupe. It's just convenient. It's actually not that hard to get a world to Pure Black and kill all the lizards for upgrade stones, before getting back to Pure White with Colourless+special Black Phantom+Final boss.

I’m so glad someone else appreciates this god tier intro cinematic. I’ve had a somewhat typical story as a die hard souls fan in that I played/enjoyed them all but never beat one/fell in love till Bloodborne. Never went back on this one though, lost my PS3. I remember watching this when the game pissed me off, so a lot lol. In fact that’s probably why I remember it so well. I hope it is but with some sort of "real strategy" and fun and hard challenge. For example, having to go through the interior of the fortress looking for arrows to put on the ballista, having to pay attention to the Boss patterns and stuff... I think they could make one of the most if not the most original and cool boos fights of the Souls games. It really comes down to how they do it. If it has to be exactly the same as it was in the original, then it would be a waated opportunity

I remember when i bought this game, day one, the store guy ask me for some information about the game, and said "I dont know, i just saw the trailer and i knew that i need it". Later in my house, was the first time i enjoyed a game that i was really really bad at it.

I personally am ridiculously hyped for this game despite never having played it, and before it's announcement I wasn't sure if I was gunna buy a PS5, but now it's a no brainer.

I am so excited for this. I stumbled upon this game while I was stationed in Korea. It was the best thing that has ever happened to me. So I am beyond excited for the remake.

It’ll be a grand day actually being able to find online players in this remake.
My first playthrough was after the servers had been shut down, so I was using the DNS workaround server with like 5 people online max. I remember specifically getting invaded in the tower of Latria. I was already having a rough time and I just walked past the guy pretending like I didn't even see him because I knew I would lose in a fight. This guy just took the lead and helped me all the way to the boss. It was honestly a lot of fun, and getting to that big ballista crossbow wall and hoping I didn't fuck it up and lose my new ally was a thrillride.
I played the game once way back before the PS4 was even out and I didn't even make it to the first boss. Seeing that save on there surprised me because I honestly didn't remember anything about it. Only finished the game after playing every Fromsoft title released after it multiple times. With that perspective, going back to this jank after adapting to faster paced and more responsive combat was a nightmare at first. The UI is also something that needs a lot of work. I couldn't tell you what any of the symbols represent when looking at stats, they're nonsense and I couldn't get used to it.
Felt the same way after trying to make another run of DS1 after completing DS3. Ughhhh thanks but no thanks...
The original Demon's Souls has a lot of unfinished areas, I hope this remake fix that.
Shadow of the Colossus also had unfinished areas and colossus so I don't think they'll be adding actual new areas and content asides from changes and improvements.
@@Aveziel You're mistaken, Demon Soul's (PS5) is supposed to be a Remake, just like Resident Evil 2 & 3, not a remaster like Shadow of the Colossus. They ùay call it a remake and then simply remaster it but for now, it is called a remake and may be changed/improved.
@@NobodySoldier Maybe it's Sony's way of "rebooting" the franchise. They own the IP, there is a void that Dark Souls left when the series ended. So yes, I think the game will have new content based on unfinished assets and new ideas entirely, maybe leading them into making a proper sequel. Sony Japan Studios worked on both Demon's Souls and Bloodborne, and they are working on this remake. Maybe they'll take the series from there.

unfortunately i played demon's souls after i played the rest of the series and blood borne so I didn't get to experience how it was when it first came out i was spoiled by more polished gameplay of ds3 and bloodborne so i didn't have very much fun playing it i really think the remake could be amazing though.
I’m optimistic about the atmosphere as a matter of fact - the team did a masterful job on Shadow of the Colossus and I think they’ll knock it out of the park with this one too.
I agree. The extra details seem in place. Like Vaati pointed out that the arena for the tower knight is oveegorwn with vines and the sheild of the tower knight has suffered from rust. Plus, ya know, the tower knight is outside. In broad daylight. And is reflective which would naturally make even an arena with tall walls surrounding it light up quite a bit.

@@animeguitarguy I see your point but I'd still argue the tower knight example is a poor one just due to the mechanics of how light works in general and how far it lighting has come in video games since 2009. Perhaps they could put a partially destroyed roof over the arena to dampen the lighting effects. I'd wait until we see some place like the Valley of Defilement 2-2 or Tower of Latria 2-2 to determine if it's dark enough. The church where you fight the Fool's Idol looks to be dimmer than I remember and the stained glass windows look less vibrantly colored, to use another reference from the trailer. Also we know that trailers, especially early ones often turn out to be inaccurate with things like color palette and lighting and get exaggerated so it looks flashier on screen to attract people. This is all subject to change but if you feel it's that much of an issue, don't stop talking about it. Personally I'd want to see a person attempt to make the lighting darker with the screen shots they can pull and have a side by side, but as of now I am pretty content with that aspect. Not super thrilled with the Flamelurker redesign. I definitely prefer the older one but at least he doesn't appear to just be a yellow-white blob anymore. Even in the cut scene, although he was cool and impressive, the lighting effects ruined alot of the detail and made it hard to make out.

Its literally the first area, and the second boss man, its out door in an open area with relatively normal lighting. Saying the game looks too bright and colorful from that is like looking at Majula or firekeep and saying, "WOW, this game looks real peaceful!"

Dude, did you forgot about the fog that came over the world of Demons Souls and made everything bad and depressing? It does make sense to be that gloomy. And it's what I love about it.
@@hellschatt Most people don't even understand the lore of DeS. God gave humans miracles. Humans corrupted those miracles with forbidden soul magic that created undead immortal zombies that eventually go crazy. Because souls are the source of god's power, he came to earth as a demon to reclaim all the souls to give birth to a new age that isn't corrupted. Then an undead guy killed him, which made the world stop working entirely, ushering in an age of darkness.
BTW this ending ties into Dark Souls perfectly. But for legal reasons, they're "entirely" different games. Once the undead killed god, that plunged the world into darkness and created the lord soul. Dragons, gods, lightning, age of fire, yada yada yada...I'm sure you know how it starts. But it's possible you play as the same undead that killed the Old One, the same undead who lost the lord soul (or had it stolen) and managed to only reclaim a small amount, as the furtive pygmy. It would be neat to see confirmation of the theory that the lord soul is the abandoned power of the guilty undead who plunged the world into darkness, but like I said it probably won't happen.

My Souls journey, in order of what I played first:
1) Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition (made it to Firelink Shrine and tried like hell to progress down past the skellies without realizing you could go UP, gave up on the series for about a few years)
2) Dark Souls 3 (stopped playing at Soul of a Cinder, didn't want it to end.)
3) Dark Souls Remastered - Loved every second of it (I learned I was supposed to try and Ring a Bell and that the first bell was UP, liked it much more this time)
4) Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin (playing this right now, early stages) love it, don't care what people say
5) Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Hated it at first, but now I understand it. Just amazing. early stages...
Just finished Dark Souls 2 few months ago and It's great compared to what the critics say about it. Bonfire Intensity, dual wielding, build variety, weapons, spells. Enjoy, Bearer of the Curse.

Man, between this and the probable Bloodborne 2 in a year or so, I'm gonna have to buy one too. Bloodborne 1 was basically what I bout the PS4 for, and the only other game I got for it was BFV.

I never played a souls series game, but I'm intrigued. I'm on PC exclusively so I will have to wait to rip and port the armors to Skyrim... uh I mean play it.
