Pinwheel’s lore is cool. A lonely father who turned to necromancy to bring his family back, only to turn into a horrible fusion of all three. He just needed more health and defense, so he could get his clone game going, so he wouldn’t be a total pushover. I really really wish Lost Izalith was better in general. It looks so cool until you actually get there...

How to make Congregation and Prowling Magus interesting: Remove the health bar. When it’s not treated as a boss fight it’s actually pretty interesting visually.
Love the fact that no one even said that the fucking deacons are just prowling magnus.... A room full of basic enemy's with a health bar. Glad it was higher than the ds2 version.

Usually when a Dark Souls 2 boss is bad, it's usually just pathetic instead of rage inducing. You kill it and you move on... Or entirely ignore it since most of them are optional. *SUCH IS NOT THE CASE WITH THE BED OF CHAOS.*

Cheese is every game strategy that only works on those unaware of it and therefore doesn't depend on skill but almost entirely on the suprise factor. Intent is entirely irrelevant. Shooting a boss outisde is arena is cheesy, because it only works due to the developers not accounting for it in time, you'd notice how that strategy doesn't work that well in newer DS installments. And so is a boss designed to be 100% reliant on pitfalls and one-time gotcha deaths cheesy. It's the same thing.
Yeah witch of hemwick, celstial emissary, the camera beast, recycled cleric beast , rom and micolash are all amazing encounters :D Not to mention the One Reborn, Amygdala, Moon Presence , Mergo's wet nurse were also pretty mediocre. The thing is a lot of people have not played bb because it was a shitty exclusive title. Same with DeS.
I actually loved Moonlight Butterfly. It was the moment I fell in love with the series - the atmosphere was absolutely magical, and the music was great.
Expecting to find Aldritch in the Cathedral of the Deep and then being surprised not to find him there is actually part of the lore. Anri also expects to find him, thats why you find her and growly there. The reason he's not there is because when he was resurrected to sacrifice himself for the flame, he said "fuck that" and went to go eat everyone in Anor Londo.
@@bizmonkey007 yeah if a boss is easy, he's in my opinion not that bad, cuz you go in, kill it and that's it. But if a bad boss is hard, he's way worse, cuz you have to do it all over again. That's one of the reason I do like DS2, if the boss is hard the bonfire is close, if he's easy it's farther away, with exception of the DLC bosses, but in my opinion only Aava is worth the effort in the DLC.
Centipede Demon hands down is my least favorite boss. It’s unmemorable, frustrating, poorly designed (you can’t see the goddamn thing throughout the entire fight), and just plain hideous. And don’t get me started about my permanently damaged eyes from the glare from the lava...
Raw Select Music the runback can be negated by quitting and reloading. people still hate it. it’s almost entirely RNG whether or not you make it if you’re not hiding behind a big ass shield, and even then it’s luck.
Fun Fact, Miyazaki actually apologized in an interview for Bed of Chaos. He said the end result wasn't what he wanted it to be, and that instead of being a challenging but "fun" boss, they just ended up with an arbitrarily difficult boss, and he was sorry he ended up letting it get to the fans like that.
IMO, Bed of Chaos is the only boss that actively makes the game worse for its presence. Some bosses are easy or forgettable but you can just blow past them and keep going. Bed of Chaos is hard for all the wrong reasons and is required to beat the game. It's not that far from being a forgettable gimmick boss either; just remove the collapsing floors and don't maintain progress between attempts and it wouldn't be nearly as rage-inducing. That's just me, though. Personally I don't mind if some bosses are easy; I definitely would not want every fight to be as deep as Artorias or Fume Knight, as long as some are.
Just go into the fight planning to die two times if you aren't a speedrunner. Take it slow and use a high stability shield to block the limbs and just focus on taking one...I don't know...weird glowy energy thing out at a time and do your best to try to stay alive but don't get angry if you fail. The fact that your progress carries over across deaths makes it one of the easiest bosses in the series to actually overcome, despite being HORRIBLY designed.
So, I'm kind of annoyed that the majority of this list followed the "Easy=Bad" outline that the Souls community has for some reason. Just because a fight is easy doesn't necessarily mean it's bad or poorly designed. I was really hoping to see more bosses that suffered from poor design/planning as opposed to just bosses that were easy. Had that been a bigger factor in people deciding what was "Bad" or not, then I feel the list would be much different, for the better. Some good examples of bosses that I feel really should be represented not due to ease, but due to poor gameplay, design, etc, are the following: The Centipede Demon from DS1, due to the Lava filled arena and the Centipede's sweeping attacks, which create an unfair situation for the player. This is made much worse by the fact that in order to get the ring that makes Lava less dangerous, you have to; A: Beat the Boss (Which makes using it in the fight redundant because, well it's already dead). or B: cut off its tail and equip it Mid fight (Or die and equip it afterwords). Iron Golem from DS1, due to an NPC summon entirely trivializing the fight (Even worse so than Solaire and the Gargoyles, because even without Tarkus the Golem's heel mechanic makes the fight inconsequential, because what was just a way to get more damage becomes a way to make him fall off and end the fight immediately). The Capra Demon from DS1, due to the poorly designed boss arena and the unnecessary dogs, which make the fight into a Luck trial as to whether or not you're successfully able to avoid the dogs first attacks. The Old Dragonslayer from DS2 for just being a literal reskinned (Barely) Ornstein fight with none of the difficulty, cleverness or balance of the DS1 iteration. The Old Iron King for really just being a fodder boss. It's a giant horned demon in lava, I really feel Dark Souls can do better than that, considering how common that archtype is in video games. Vendrick from DS2 due to his poorly explained soul mechanic which can make the fight a nightmare. Etc Etc Etc.
Agreed: a thing I hated about old iron king was the lava pit behind you in a small arena... that's a bad way of creating artificial difficulty: the real boss was the lava, not the actual boss... that's what makes it a bad boss, not the difficulty itself
I hate that mentality too. It's just the Dark Souls fanboys though. Us Demon's Souls fans like unique boss fights, as long as the boss is interesting and/or provides a good challenge they're good. Note that challenge doesn't mean make it as cheap as can be (damnit Dark Souls 2!)
I'm surprised Yhorm didn't make it on this list. The cinematic trailer made him seem like the most epic fight in the souls series, and he ends up being a fucking gimmick in a shitty, half-baked area.
I found Yhorm to be epic as all hell. That said, i didn't know about storm ruler, but i DID have Seigmayer. He died just before his last swing though, so i had to do yhorm's last chunk of health alone, doing naff all damage... Intense :D
Ya Capra is the worst. The room is so small. Ds2 was amazing. Apparently people play dark souls so they can look at pretty scenery while the game hand holds you. Ds2 was an ass kick.
^ ditto, Dark souls 2 is objectively terrible. From horrible level design and atmosphere to shitty enemy placement, lore, bosses, etc... the list goes on. I'm surprised this video wasn't just all the bosses in DS2; not a single memorable one. Hell, even the Capra demon was more memorable. Most people died from him the second they walked in the room or remember how fucking small and tight the room was. The only thing dark souls 2 did right was pvp (but even that's fucked with soul memory) and how any weapon can be viable. Other than that, it's garbage. The most uncompelling story in any Souls game followed with zero reason to ever replay it in NG+.

This might be a stupid reason but was kind disappointed that pinwheel was this high on the list. I agree that he is horrible boss but you got admit that his/her has a decent story to it and the lore is interesting
@@myskrillaa he's only easy because most people get to him overleveled, on my first playthrough i stupidly went to the catacombs first and got wrecked by him.
Same for me haha at one point I discovered the whole area was opened, and then made my way to make the plunging atack, but I got unlucky and missed for some reason, fell on the ground, died and I was like "yep, that's not how you're supposed to kill him" and then came back to hitting its legs
Dark Souls 2 is my personal favorite of the games, I've played all of them but DS3, which I haven't had much time with, and it's just my overall favorite of the bunch, I barely remember dark souls 1 out of anor londo and undead burg, but I remember a lot about DS2, Lucatiel is a really nice character and I still have fun going back to the old iron keep and the Lost Bastile

For me the worst boss was the stray demon Why:- 1. you enter the fight with damage and that's a lot a damage 2. He just spams the explosion like what every attack contains a explosion and his butt slams just Insta-kills me 3. The room is so small that you can easily get cornered and die 4. Its literally of reskin of the asylum demon
Honestly the best way to beat him is to get him to spam explosions, just stand behind him and smack his butt, you can calmly walk away when he’s charging up and use that time to heal n stuff
I beat nameless king first try, then my 2nd playthrough (still NG) it took me about 5. Not sure what happened there, maybe I got super lucky the first time.
at least magus attempts to kill you. hell even the fools idol and covetous demon try harder than the deacons of the snoozefest. whats even more hilarious is that once the real deacon shows up you can use an alluring skull and everyone except the boss will go towards it. vthis way he is completely alone and caan be killed in like 5 seconds...
The Fantastic Paul oh you mean the dark fireball and the curse fog that fills the room? both can be stopped by killing one of the deacons who cast it. a boss that requires you to do nothing to become dangerous is just terrible.
Don't worry; the only reason Ludwig is in the intro is because it gives us something pleasant to look at before the storm begins. He wasn't even talking about bad bosses when he appeared, just that it's a Soulsborne ranking.
Sorry, I still hate it. It's tedious, you spend a lot of time running around, and not very hard. It's like an easier, slightly less shitty bed of chaos. This coming from someone who in general likes DS3 and its bosses.
Worst boss for me is nashandra... She's supposed to be a final boss. A final boss is supposed to put you to the test and make you use all the skills you learned through the game. She didn't do that.
Up until bloodborne, all final bosses in souls games weren't any difficult, what with Gwyn, Lord of Hornet Parries, and "King" Allant? Hell even the Soul of Fanservice ain't that much of a challenge, his difficulty highlights are the obnoxious tracking and hitboxes in spear mode, and the five hits no escape combo.
Mike Bohn It was the same thing with Gywn. I pretty much poised through all of his attacks and beat him on my first try. Still much better than Nashandra though.
I disagree on a couple. I actually really liked deacons of the deep. I don't think a boss fight has to be hard so long as it's interesting. The location and soundtrack to the fight is really cool and I loved watching the soul jump from person to person, my first experience with that fight was cool, I panicked ran around figured out the trick to the fight then once the other guys spawned I freaked out again ran around and saw the room slowly fill with curse shit and I died because I panicked. For me that was a cool and fun experience and I appreciate that. In terms of pinwheel, it makes sense that he's not hard, he's just a guy trying to split himself up so that he can be separated from his family again, imagine his surprise to see a stranger in his study, he's not a fighter he just wants his family back T-T
Yep depends on your idea of what makes a boss "good". Both pinwheel and deacons were creepy,sad,creative. I died heaps fighting the deacons, not cos they were hard, but because i was so interested to see how they move and evolve throughout the battle - the fight told me a story by itself.
I do not understand the hate on deacons. It is quite easy once you figure out what you have to do, but that doesn't necessarily take anything away from how epic the fight feels. The moment you enter the room for the first time made me really go "oh shit, what do I do here". It took me quite a while to figure out how to damage the boss and later on I even died on the curse during the 2nd phase because I was being way too passive. But the feeling what I got from this boss fight is actually top-tier from souls series. You enter the room, it scares the shit out of you, it is kinda creepy and on top of that there is the extraordinary music which suits the situation so perfectly, it made the boss probably one of my favorites in terms of setting.

giggety goo the difference is Pinwheel dies in 4 or so hits, so that fight isn’t even fun. It takes much longer to kill the deacons and you can mess around and drag on the boss fight by just not killing the Archdeacon, the deacons infinitely spawn.
Hejira#2854 the video is about boss design and the communities overall opinion, so disagreeing is redundant, but I digress. Could have made the Deacons actually interesting, but they didn’t. It’s a boss fight with a pack of cultist that you beat the shit out of. The only safety belt to you not finishing it quicker than Pinwheel is that you have to wait for the soul to enter a new body... which is only for half the fight or so... Overall feels like a waste of time.
people only like micolash because he's a living meme the boss itself is the absolute worst non-chalice fight in bloodborne. it's practically unfinished and broken

People clearly voted without very well thinking about it. Come on, no twin tigerprint rapers? Endless health instakill dragon? CTRL-C, CTRL-V dragonriders? Fuck the rules triple ganksquad? Smelter demon with a makeover? Used thrice DS1 demon bosses? Suicide lava abomination? Camera centifuck demon? And those are just the bosses from DS1 and DS2 that were pure cancer. Deacons and curse rotted greatwood weren't that bad.
DS 2 ost was easily the most forgettable, with the music being merely the background. The best ost is probably Bloodborne, n2 is DS 3. DS 1 was cool, but feels lacking now that i've heard it more. DeS is just boring and bad.
@@jdrok5026 Heavily disagree. The Dark souls 1 ost is great and MUCH better than the completely forgettable and rather generic ost of Dark souls 2. Dark souls 3 had a pretty good soundtrack too but I think only Bloodbourne has a debatedly better or on par soundtrack as Dark souls 1.
Yeah I found him not that hard on successive play throughs, I destroyed him even in my SL1 run. But I will never forget my first time encountering it, shit was a nightmare for the new player I was, especially his dogs and the path leading to him. But, to be fair, I was still using a long sword at that point (it wasn’t until Sen’s fortress that I realized how ignorant I was of the much better weapons I could access at that point) I’d call him a bit of a cheaply designed boss, it’s not really a fun fight when he relies on two basic enemies to gang rape new players the second they step into his tiny domain. Hard bosses are fun, bosses artificially made difficult with cheap tactics aren’t.
Every Dark Souls 3 boss got a vote except for Iudex Gundyr. Can't say I disagree, he was a pretty epic opener. Plus he was the first Souls boss I ever faced so I have a soft spot.
I don't know how anyone could vote for Pontiff, Nameless King, Twin Princes, Soul of Cinder, Abyss Watchers, Dragonslayer Armour, or Gundyr. Those were all great bosses.

I didn't mind the Deacons. In fact, I liked them. On my first playthrough of DS3 I tried to explore most areas and kill most enemies to get the most out of the game and get the most items, and by the time I got to the Deacons I was fresh out of items and had only 2 estus left. I killed him whilst using those 2 estus, got the bonfire and was really happy. I actually enjoyed the boss.
Am I the only one who enjoyed the Deacons fight? Equip a club and greatshield and you can pretend to be a police officer beating back an army of crazy overzealous rioters.
I actually found it pretty tough as a dexterity character because they can really gang up on you're not careful. Loved the fight on my strength character though. Just equipped a greatsword and went to town.
I’m surprised Yhorm isn’t on the list, but then again the Seigward quest line is really great and the lore behind Storm Ruler and its placement in Yhorms’ boss arena is interesting
Probably because Twin Dragonriders actually has more variables than one would assume. If you go next to the pillar with the bow wielding dragonrider and get the halberd one to attack, he'll destroy the pillar and force the bow dragonrider to be grounded early. Basically one of the extremely few Souls bosses that rewards using the environment.
I don't understand why people always hate on Souls 2. Yeah I mean, when it comes to boss difficulty, most are a lot easier. But still a lot of the bosses are well designed and if they don't, they have a pretty decent lore.
Hit boxes, adaptability, graphics downgrade, bad boss fights, nonsensical area design, ugly models, ugly graphics in general, nerfed dark and faith into oblivion, and is even slower than ds1.

Dark magic is still strong in ds2 what are you talking about?, There are of course some enemy's that resist dark but most of them are in the brume tower dlc , And faith well, its actually notbad unlike ds3 Also i never saw the problems with Adaptability, i literally have pased the game + dlc with only 10 adp, I literally killed Fume Knight (ng+)with 15 adp with 8 vit / 10 vig, also used sorcerer
@@Bourikii2992 well, yes and no, fume knight its actually like nameless king in ds3, you can't just spam roll and also the delay, also after ew..like 4 hours trying to beat him the first time (bad stats character,low adp and end) in ng+ (i forgot to do the dlc before going to ng+), i mostly beat him and almost every dlc boss in 1-4 tries, he is actually a good way to learn to roll properly

I agree. The freaking dogs creating artificial difficulty, the gimmicky stairs, and the fact that you can kill him through the fog gate is just ridiculous. However, once you get a shield with 55 or more stability and great magic shield from Griggs, he's a cakewalk.
Bryan Merrill It's a punch to the gut that gets you a few times until you figure out the gimmick or get the buff you need to steamroll him, something that seems like a challenge but is actually just shoddy design. Kinda like all of the first DaS oops did I type that?
Because as opposed to all the other games, aside from demon souls, blood borne was only for ps4. Pc and Xbox players didn’t get the chance to play it and find out how terrible some of the bosses were.
Honestly, I find it ironic that Demod hates the Greatwood because of how disgusting the thing is, but simultaneously ranks Ludwig as his favourite boss in the entire series.
Worst boss in the entire series has to be the nameless king. Its a failed attempt at a gank boss with ONLY 2 enemies, maybe from soft should have taken inspiration from a actual good boss like deacons of the deep.

Deacons was meant to be the first phase of the Aldrich boss fight. Fromsoft couldn't get the boss to work, so they booted him over to Anor Londo as a Gwyndolin monster.
Unpopular opinion but bosses like the Deacons, Ancient Wyvern and Prowling Magus I actually really like, purely for the fact they are different. Sure it would be fun to have every boss be a huge knight with 2 phases and a big health pool but I think the initial impression when you enter these boss rooms are great, provided its your first time playing and you haven't watched playthroughs of it beforehand. I just like the variety they provide, you go through a fog gate and are greeted with normal looking enemies and spend a few minutes wondering how to go about it and if there's a catch, it keeps you guessing and makes it exciting, I like the mix of easier bosses in with the harder ones for that reason. The Ancient Wyvern for example is more of a gauntlet but the first time playing you dont know that, you just go in the area and a dragon lands at your feet with a health pool so you're thinking 'ah crap' and maybe spend a few minutes chipping away at its health, then when that's not working you go looking for cover and discover that you can make your way around the arena etc, it makes it unique even it is isn't the same high octane action as say The Nameless King but I appreciate them nonetheless

I fought Pinwheel relatively early on in my dark souls career, so he wasn't especially easy to me. The real boss were those damn bonewheels just before him tho

this might come off as kind of sad and/or pathetic to hard core souls veterans but I actually managed to die fighting the deacons of the deep once... I wasn't killed by any of the deacons directly, for those who don't know the fight is on an invisible timer if you take to long to kill the Arch Deacon he and his followers will fill the room with curse and kill you instantly, I was going at it alone and spent a little too much time killing the guys around the arch deacon (to make an opening) and next thing I know i'm spontaniously dying. Edit: According to the wiki the curse is an attack that can be interupted by attacking certain choir members, I feel so stupid now.
I feel like curse rotted greatwood isn't so bad. It's a puzzle boss with multiple stages, other level enemies, at least a few different attacks, as well as an interesting item drop. It's not really that fun to replay, but the item makes it at least reasonable to want to do on multiple saves. Anyway. Enough said. I don't think it's that bad.
+TheBetim DS3 DLC will be Pinwheel who is able to summon the Bed of Chaos and instead of a worm in the middle, it's the poison rats from the Royal Rat Authority. Also 10 times the platforms. Also the platforms can disappear, but only if you step on them. Also your dead.
I'll admit it. He killed me once at NG +5 because I just rushed in. Turns out that if he makes a lot of clones and they all shoot fireballs at you, you die pretty fast.

Pinwheel’s lore is cool. A lonely father who turned to necromancy to bring his family back, only to turn into a horrible fusion of all three. He just needed more health and defense, so he could get his clone game going, so he wouldn’t be a total pushover.
I really really wish Lost Izalith was better in general. It looks so cool until you actually get there...

You forgot to mention for the Ancient Wyvern. The plunging attack has at least a 40% chance of messing up and not working for literally no reason

Usually when a Dark Souls 2 boss is bad, it's usually just pathetic instead of rage inducing. You kill it and you move on... Or entirely ignore it since most of them are optional.

Bed of Chaos is easy if you know what you're doing, but I will admit that I died many times and raged very hard on my first playthrough against BoC.

Cheese is every game strategy that only works on those unaware of it and therefore doesn't depend on skill but almost entirely on the suprise factor. Intent is entirely irrelevant. Shooting a boss outisde is arena is cheesy, because it only works due to the developers not accounting for it in time, you'd notice how that strategy doesn't work that well in newer DS installments. And so is a boss designed to be 100% reliant on pitfalls and one-time gotcha deaths cheesy. It's the same thing.

Yeah witch of hemwick, celstial emissary, the camera beast, recycled cleric beast , rom and micolash are all amazing encounters :D Not to mention the One Reborn, Amygdala, Moon Presence , Mergo's wet nurse were also pretty mediocre. The thing is a lot of people have not played bb because it was a shitty exclusive title. Same with DeS.

@@bizmonkey007 yeah if a boss is easy, he's in my opinion not that bad, cuz you go in, kill it and that's it. But if a bad boss is hard, he's way worse, cuz you have to do it all over again. That's one of the reason I do like DS2, if the boss is hard the bonfire is close, if he's easy it's farther away, with exception of the DLC bosses, but in my opinion only Aava is worth the effort in the DLC.

Centipede Demon hands down is my least favorite boss. It’s unmemorable, frustrating, poorly designed (you can’t see the goddamn thing throughout the entire fight), and just plain hideous.

Fun Fact, Miyazaki actually apologized in an interview for Bed of Chaos. He said the end result wasn't what he wanted it to be, and that instead of being a challenging but "fun" boss, they just ended up with an arbitrarily difficult boss, and he was sorry he ended up letting it get to the fans like that.
IMO, Bed of Chaos is the only boss that actively makes the game worse for its presence. Some bosses are easy or forgettable but you can just blow past them and keep going. Bed of Chaos is hard for all the wrong reasons and is required to beat the game. It's not that far from being a forgettable gimmick boss either; just remove the collapsing floors and don't maintain progress between attempts and it wouldn't be nearly as rage-inducing.
That's just me, though. Personally I don't mind if some bosses are easy; I definitely would not want every fight to be as deep as Artorias or Fume Knight, as long as some are.

Just go into the fight planning to die two times if you aren't a speedrunner. Take it slow and use a high stability shield to block the limbs and just focus on taking one...I don't know...weird glowy energy thing out at a time and do your best to try to stay alive but don't get angry if you fail. The fact that your progress carries over across deaths makes it one of the easiest bosses in the series to actually overcome, despite being HORRIBLY designed.
just use the cheezy strats (the firebombs strat or the bow+quit strat ) and it will be just a push over

So, I'm kind of annoyed that the majority of this list followed the "Easy=Bad" outline that the Souls community has for some reason. Just because a fight is easy doesn't necessarily mean it's bad or poorly designed. I was really hoping to see more bosses that suffered from poor design/planning as opposed to just bosses that were easy. Had that been a bigger factor in people deciding what was "Bad" or not, then I feel the list would be much different, for the better. Some good examples of bosses that I feel really should be represented not due to ease, but due to poor gameplay, design, etc, are the following:
The Centipede Demon from DS1, due to the Lava filled arena and the Centipede's sweeping attacks, which create an unfair situation for the player. This is made much worse by the fact that in order to get the ring that makes Lava less dangerous, you have to; A: Beat the Boss (Which makes using it in the fight redundant because, well it's already dead). or B: cut off its tail and equip it Mid fight (Or die and equip it afterwords).
Iron Golem from DS1, due to an NPC summon entirely trivializing the fight (Even worse so than Solaire and the Gargoyles, because even without Tarkus the Golem's heel mechanic makes the fight inconsequential, because what was just a way to get more damage becomes a way to make him fall off and end the fight immediately).
The Capra Demon from DS1, due to the poorly designed boss arena and the unnecessary dogs, which make the fight into a Luck trial as to whether or not you're successfully able to avoid the dogs first attacks.
The Old Dragonslayer from DS2 for just being a literal reskinned (Barely) Ornstein fight with none of the difficulty, cleverness or balance of the DS1 iteration.
The Old Iron King for really just being a fodder boss. It's a giant horned demon in lava, I really feel Dark Souls can do better than that, considering how common that archtype is in video games.

Agreed: a thing I hated about old iron king was the lava pit behind you in a small arena... that's a bad way of creating artificial difficulty: the real boss was the lava, not the actual boss... that's what makes it a bad boss, not the difficulty itself
I hate that mentality too. It's just the Dark Souls fanboys though. Us Demon's Souls fans like unique boss fights, as long as the boss is interesting and/or provides a good challenge they're good. Note that challenge doesn't mean make it as cheap as can be (damnit Dark Souls 2!)
Eric Lovelock Vendrick was such a fun boss though if you don't hug his left leg and have 4 Souls.

I'm surprised Yhorm didn't make it on this list. The cinematic trailer made him seem like the most epic fight in the souls series, and he ends up being a fucking gimmick in a shitty, half-baked area.
I found Yhorm to be epic as all hell. That said, i didn't know about storm ruler, but i DID have Seigmayer. He died just before his last swing though, so i had to do yhorm's last chunk of health alone, doing naff all damage... Intense :D

^ ditto, Dark souls 2 is objectively terrible. From horrible level design and atmosphere to shitty enemy placement, lore, bosses, etc... the list goes on. I'm surprised this video wasn't just all the bosses in DS2; not a single memorable one. Hell, even the Capra demon was more memorable. Most people died from him the second they walked in the room or remember how fucking small and tight the room was. The only thing dark souls 2 did right was pvp (but even that's fucked with soul memory) and how any weapon can be viable. Other than that, it's garbage. The most uncompelling story in any Souls game followed with zero reason to ever replay it in NG+.

Same for me haha at one point I discovered the whole area was opened, and then made my way to make the plunging atack, but I got unlucky and missed for some reason, fell on the ground, died and I was like "yep, that's not how you're supposed to kill him" and then came back to hitting its legs

Dark Souls 2 is my personal favorite of the games, I've played all of them but DS3, which I haven't had much time with, and it's just my overall favorite of the bunch, I barely remember dark souls 1 out of anor londo and undead burg, but I remember a lot about DS2, Lucatiel is a really nice character and I still have fun going back to the old iron keep and the Lost Bastile

2. He just spams the explosion like what every attack contains a explosion and his butt slams just Insta-kills me
3. The room is so small that you can easily get cornered and die

Honestly the best way to beat him is to get him to spam explosions, just stand behind him and smack his butt, you can calmly walk away when he’s charging up and use that time to heal n stuff

I beat nameless king first try, then my 2nd playthrough (still NG) it took me about 5. Not sure what happened there, maybe I got super lucky the first time.
The nameless king isn’t hard but not easy l guess that’s because l had +5 ringed knight. Paired great swords

at least magus attempts to kill you. hell even the fools idol and covetous demon try harder than the deacons of the snoozefest. whats even more hilarious is that once the real deacon shows up you can use an alluring skull and everyone except the boss will go towards it. vthis way he is completely alone and caan be killed in like 5 seconds...

Worst boss for me is nashandra... She's supposed to be a final boss. A final boss is supposed to put you to the test and make you use all the skills you learned through the game. She didn't do that.

Up until bloodborne, all final bosses in souls games weren't any difficult, what with Gwyn, Lord of Hornet Parries, and "King" Allant? Hell even the Soul of Fanservice ain't that much of a challenge, his difficulty highlights are the obnoxious tracking and hitboxes in spear mode, and the five hits no escape combo.
Mike Bohn It was the same thing with Gywn. I pretty much poised through all of his attacks and beat him on my first try. Still much better than Nashandra though.
I disagree on a couple. I actually really liked deacons of the deep. I don't think a boss fight has to be hard so long as it's interesting. The location and soundtrack to the fight is really cool and I loved watching the soul jump from person to person, my first experience with that fight was cool, I panicked ran around figured out the trick to the fight then once the other guys spawned I freaked out again ran around and saw the room slowly fill with curse shit and I died because I panicked. For me that was a cool and fun experience and I appreciate that. In terms of pinwheel, it makes sense that he's not hard, he's just a guy trying to split himself up so that he can be separated from his family again, imagine his surprise to see a stranger in his study, he's not a fighter he just wants his family back T-T
Yep depends on your idea of what makes a boss "good". Both pinwheel and deacons were creepy,sad,creative. I died heaps fighting the deacons, not cos they were hard, but because i was so interested to see how they move and evolve throughout the battle - the fight told me a story by itself.
I do not understand the hate on deacons. It is quite easy once you figure out what you have to do, but that doesn't necessarily take anything away from how epic the fight feels. The moment you enter the room for the first time made me really go "oh shit, what do I do here". It took me quite a while to figure out how to damage the boss and later on I even died on the curse during the 2nd phase because I was being way too passive.
But the feeling what I got from this boss fight is actually top-tier from souls series. You enter the room, it scares the shit out of you, it is kinda creepy and on top of that there is the extraordinary music which suits the situation so perfectly, it made the boss probably one of my favorites in terms of setting.

giggety goo the difference is Pinwheel dies in 4 or so hits, so that fight isn’t even fun. It takes much longer to kill the deacons and you can mess around and drag on the boss fight by just not killing the Archdeacon, the deacons infinitely spawn.
Hejira#2854 the video is about boss design and the communities overall opinion, so disagreeing is redundant, but I digress. Could have made the Deacons actually interesting, but they didn’t. It’s a boss fight with a pack of cultist that you beat the shit out of. The only safety belt to you not finishing it quicker than Pinwheel is that you have to wait for the soul to enter a new body... which is only for half the fight or so... Overall feels like a waste of time.

Amazing dark souls 1 osts? Besides sifs the ending and gwyn and 2 others pinwheel is awful compared to the other games
DS 2 ost was easily the most forgettable, with the music being merely the background. The best ost is probably Bloodborne, n2 is DS 3. DS 1 was cool, but feels lacking now that i've heard it more. DeS is just boring and bad.
@@jdrok5026 Heavily disagree. The Dark souls 1 ost is great and MUCH better than the completely forgettable and rather generic ost of Dark souls 2. Dark souls 3 had a pretty good soundtrack too but I think only Bloodbourne has a debatedly better or on par soundtrack as Dark souls 1.

Yeah I found him not that hard on successive play throughs, I destroyed him even in my SL1 run.
But I will never forget my first time encountering it, shit was a nightmare for the new player I was, especially his dogs and the path leading to him. But, to be fair, I was still using a long sword at that point (it wasn’t until Sen’s fortress that I realized how ignorant I was of the much better weapons I could access at that point)
I’d call him a bit of a cheaply designed boss, it’s not really a fun fight when he relies on two basic enemies to gang rape new players the second they step into his tiny domain. Hard bosses are fun, bosses artificially made difficult with cheap tactics aren’t.
Every Dark Souls 3 boss got a vote except for Iudex Gundyr. Can't say I disagree, he was a pretty epic opener. Plus he was the first Souls boss I ever faced so I have a soft spot.
I don't know how anyone could vote for Pontiff, Nameless King, Twin Princes, Soul of Cinder, Abyss Watchers, Dragonslayer Armour, or Gundyr. Those were all great bosses.

I like the idea and design of the deacons. They had one of the best osts imo but they were way to easy
I didn't mind the Deacons. In fact, I liked them. On my first playthrough of DS3 I tried to explore most areas and kill most enemies to get the most out of the game and get the most items, and by the time I got to the Deacons I was fresh out of items and had only 2 estus left. I killed him whilst using those 2 estus, got the bonfire and was really happy. I actually enjoyed the boss.
Am I the only one who enjoyed the Deacons fight? Equip a club and greatshield and you can pretend to be a police officer beating back an army of crazy overzealous rioters.
I actually found it pretty tough as a dexterity character because they can really gang up on you're not careful. Loved the fight on my strength character though. Just equipped a greatsword and went to town.
I’m surprised Yhorm isn’t on the list, but then again the Seigward quest line is really great and the lore behind Storm Ruler and its placement in Yhorms’ boss arena is interesting

Probably because Twin Dragonriders actually has more variables than one would assume. If you go next to the pillar with the bow wielding dragonrider and get the halberd one to attack, he'll destroy the pillar and force the bow dragonrider to be grounded early.
Basically one of the extremely few Souls bosses that rewards using the environment.
I don't understand why people always hate on Souls 2. Yeah I mean, when it comes to boss difficulty, most are a lot easier. But still a lot of the bosses are well designed and if they don't, they have a pretty decent lore.

Also i never saw the problems with Adaptability, i literally have pased the game + dlc with only 10 adp, I literally killed Fume Knight (ng+)with 15 adp with 8 vit / 10 vig, also used sorcerer

I agree. The freaking dogs creating artificial difficulty, the gimmicky stairs, and the fact that you can kill him through the fog gate is just ridiculous. However, once you get a shield with 55 or more stability and great magic shield from Griggs, he's a cakewalk.

Deacons was meant to be the first phase of the Aldrich boss fight. Fromsoft couldn't get the boss to work, so they booted him over to Anor Londo as a Gwyndolin monster.

Took me an hour to kill Wyvern, I was smashing his feet for a really long time. Quite difficult if you do it my way 😅
Unpopular opinion but bosses like the Deacons, Ancient Wyvern and Prowling Magus I actually really like, purely for the fact they are different. Sure it would be fun to have every boss be a huge knight with 2 phases and a big health pool but I think the initial impression when you enter these boss rooms are great, provided its your first time playing and you haven't watched playthroughs of it beforehand.
I just like the variety they provide, you go through a fog gate and are greeted with normal looking enemies and spend a few minutes wondering how to go about it and if there's a catch, it keeps you guessing and makes it exciting, I like the mix of easier bosses in with the harder ones for that reason.
The Ancient Wyvern for example is more of a gauntlet but the first time playing you dont know that, you just go in the area and a dragon lands at your feet with a health pool so you're thinking 'ah crap' and maybe spend a few minutes chipping away at its health, then when that's not working you go looking for cover and discover that you can make your way around the arena etc, it makes it unique even it is isn't the same high octane action as say The Nameless King but I appreciate them nonetheless

this might come off as kind of sad and/or pathetic to hard core souls veterans but I actually managed to die fighting the deacons of the deep once... I wasn't killed by any of the deacons directly, for those who don't know the fight is on an invisible timer if you take to long to kill the Arch Deacon he and his followers will fill the room with curse and kill you instantly, I was going at it alone and spent a little too much time killing the guys around the arch deacon (to make an opening) and next thing I know i'm spontaniously dying.
Edit: According to the wiki the curse is an attack that can be interupted by attacking certain choir members, I feel so stupid now.
I feel like curse rotted greatwood isn't so bad. It's a puzzle boss with multiple stages, other level enemies, at least a few different attacks, as well as an interesting item drop. It's not really that fun to replay, but the item makes it at least reasonable to want to do on multiple saves. Anyway. Enough said. I don't think it's that bad.
Dark Souls 2 seems to have a lot of regular enemies promoted unjustly to boss level.

I'll admit it. He killed me once at NG +5 because I just rushed in. Turns out that if he makes a lot of clones and they all shoot fireballs at you, you die pretty fast.
