    This video really helped me clarify a bit more of my bad swings. I have developed good side crunch and a much shallower club in the down swing however I still struggle with thin and fat shots more than I like. I hadn’t thought of dropping the right shoulder too early but I am sure I am doing that to avoid swinging over the top. I started doing the impact drill on my own which really helps but I wasn’t sure why it worked so well and when I would go back to full swings it was hard to get back to good impact position. Your video makes a lot sense that dropping the right shoulder looks really good as you are not going over the top but if you drop it to soon it creates a lot of other problems. It also helps me if I get to the right side sooner and more open to the target which makes a huge difference! Great video illustrating of the problems of dropping the right shoulder too soon. Not many TH-cam videos talking about this. Big help. Thanks!

    Dude, you crack me up. I can watch fancy swing coaches from all over the world, exotic backgrounds, etc. But you, with your beat-up mat, net, and backyard setup (London maybe?) are as good an instructor (and often better) as any of those guys. Seriously, you have helped me with some details more than any others out there. One thing, something I've figure out is that the way to prevent a side-bend-drop-back movement with the right shoulder is to get the right elbow and forearm moving properly on the downswing AND to make sure the back of the left shoulder rotates back at the same time. That gets the shoulders moving in a rotary fashion, and things improve fast.

    The right side bend or tilt at impact has always been my nemesis. Using the right shoulder to hit the ball feeling works well for me and has helped me tremendously. Thanks for confirming and sharing. Cheers.

    A good feeling for me is feeling that stretch in the lead shoulder as I transition, with the side bend you’re teaching, so I feel like I can rip that lead should up and out with my hips. Took me a long time to understand that speed is created at the bottom, and from the top it’s more about getting the club into a good position for that. More powerful and controlled swing compared to the days where I’d try to have a go at the ball from the top.

    This is one of the secret moves in becoming a scratch player. I hit my driver better than anyone that I play with by using correct right side bend. The club face control is amazing. Excellent video on a topic that isn’t focused on near enough.

  • @PongGod

    Man, you're really hitting all of the right notes for me lately. The last video I watched was about getting the lower body moving forward BEFORE starting the downswing, something that I know has been a problem of mine. And here's the other one... even when I do get my lazy lower body moving early, I often ruin it by immediately dropping my right shoulder the moment I start my downswing, which inevitably results in hitting behind the ball. One of these days I'll figure out how to synch up all of these great tips and I'll finally starting hitting some consistently solid golf shots.

    Such a great video. I seem to get to shft parallel to ground and then my arms release and hips stop moving so is this the drill for me? Also I've seen you stop at the parallel position and hit from there too? What reps when at the range do you recommend drill/shots ratio?

Many thanks

    Hi Jonathan, thanks so much for the amazing video and I’ve found the pre set rotation drill super helpful. But one thing I’m wondering is I can always hit it well with the drill, but when I go back to normal setup I cannot hit it well. Can I just keep using the drill at address? In other words, how is a normal setup better than a setup with the drill?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks bud! Keep repping the drill and implement the feel into your normal shots. Take a look at your variables too. There may be something in your swing stopping you from rotating

      Have you looked at your trail elbow position? J's tip kind of requires you to your trail elbow tucked in and right arm bent through impact which requires you to drop your right shoulder to actually hit the ball.

      Imagine or actually try to skip a large flat stone. It won't skip unless you get enough side bend at impact or release of the stone

    • @JimmyGreenMachine
      @JimmyGreenMachine ปีที่แล้ว

      Shoulder down only works if you also focus on having right arm bent at impact, otherwise your body will naturally stand up to not hit the ground. Could be that you only need to focus on having the right arm bent at impact as you can see on the video where he starts at impact position. If the arm is bent the body has to tilt down to be able to hit the ball. Also, sometimes too much focus on HITTING the ball can get the body to stiffen up, the ball should just be in the way of the swing, much more of a sweeping feeling.
