    It is essential to understand the relationship between loft and club head speed. IF you have the club head speed, by all means, go ahead and deloft all you want. If you don't have the club head speed of PGA pros, be very careful. You may end up not getting enough spin and height, and you may lose distance while never ever holding a green.

      Well said. I think I have this issue. I started delofting my irons in an effort to compress the ball and I’ve noticed I’ve lost height and distance

      Hogwash. I just played with a 5’ 7” 61 year old who is a 2 and shot 67 on a decent par 72 course. He does NOT have swing speed of a tour pro, he de-lofts his irons and was hitting it low and flushed EVERYTHING.

    I swept at the ball for years. It wasn't until I started drilling contacting the ball on the downswing that I realized how much difference it makes. My swing thought that helped me was hit the ball INTO the ground. My scores dropped drastically as I was finally able to impart spin on the ball which REALLY helps with distance control. PINCH THE BALL BOYS! ⛳

    Looking forward to trying this. I typically carry my 7 iron about 145, but my launch angle is way too high - anywhere from 20-25 degrees, at times. I’ve been told that with a 7 iron, it should be closer to 17 degrees.

      Very similar to me. Could be partly down to loft angles. My Titleist 716 CB irons are lofted more than many clubs. For examply, my 7i is lofted at 35° while some "game improvement" 7 irons are 27° (same as my 5i). That's a huge difference. At least that's what I like to tell myself as I hide my club cover before hitting off on a 140m par 3 (with a 6i)! Cheers - Dave

      I will be interested how this goes for you Chris. Yes your distance for an 8 iron is like a PW. If you pick up an extra 20 yards per club and with your short game you could easily drop 2-3 shots. Best of luck

    My problem is weight transfer, so I tend to send my shots to high. This is a current area I’m working on. But I still hit my 7 iron about 160 yards, I’m happy enough but there’s probably another 15 yards to gain once I tweak my swing.

    Sir, what do you personally feel to make sure you’re making a “full” and “deep enough” backswing? Sometimes i think this is the $1M question. Does it relate to your left shoulder getting over your right foot, getting your hips turned at least 45-60 degrees? How do you make sure you’re making a sufficiently long and deep enough backswing without it feeling manufactured and losing the built up torque at the top?

    Jonathan, regardles other correct swing conditions I wonder isn't this just a way/manner using a 7i as a 5i and a 5i as a 3i.
    i.e. the "misuse" of the intentional design or is there more to that I can't imagen.

      We do but we don’t want far too much loft and spin losing us distance

    • @ashleywalls4097
      @ashleywalls4097 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can only deloft as much as the pros if you have equal club head speeds. Delofting without the same speeds will result in low spin and less distance. You will hit very low shots and hold zero greens. It is best to see a reputable pro to get a lesson. You can then match your swing to your ability. I've seen a lot of people chasing this PGA shaft lean and hitting shot 40 feet off the ground and wondering why they can't hold the green ;/

    What if you issue is the opposite. I almost turn my 7i into a 6i my spi. Rates are about 5100 and carry 190 to 195 with 12 to 15 yards of roll out. I also have a more in to out swing. That sometimes gets to extreme. Hitting far is great but if I can't hold a green is it worth it? Been trying to work on fades for club face control and to get my spin Rates up
