Love this Stu, I have always had quite a long (too long) backswing. This is a great feel for stopping that lift with the arms and loss of shoulder structure. Definitely something I will be taking to the practice area
I have to be honest, I watched this as soon as it posted and thought "meh." But I've always felt that my shoulders are too "shrugged, " so I went to the range and tried to emphasize what you taught in this video, and wow! Not only was the contact sweeter, but my backswing felt more stable and loaded. I had superb control of the face, and I was able to hit draws with my driver much more consistently than normal. I honestly had the best practice session of my life to date. Thanks so much for another great video.
...... Barney....... I know for a fact when I feel tension in my shoulders, it causes me to do exactly what you're talking about...... and thanks so much for letting Stu have a little camera time.....😁⛳🍺🐶
Stuart, I've followed your grip series and have my hands in a good place now. However, my left shoulder sits considerably higher than my right at address, while yours look quite level. I tried this drill hoping it might level me out, but in slow motion video I can see that my shoulders don't rise up during the swing it's just at setup. Do I need to worry about this? I know that the left side will be higher than the right at set up by virtue of the left hand being higher than the right on the grip. The only way I've found to fix this is to move the butt end of the grip closer to my midline. Then the combination of cup in my lead wrist and moving the but of the club further away from my left shoulder allows that shoulder to drop. But I'm worried this will impact my ability to compress the ball with proper shaft lean. Any ideas?
Hi Stephen - they’ll be other factors playing a part here, and without seeing you I’d be guessing im afraid. Sorry I can’t be more useful. Best wishes Stu
Went out and played badly... hitting drives that where mostly pulls ...very frustrating. Swing changes are always hard so just keep plugging i supppse...more range time. Hard to shoot higher scores after shooting lower with old swing. Any advice coach?
Tough days always come and go; the strength in your reset and clarity on your working on will always allow you to bounce back the quickest Gregory. Hang tough bud
Again there's the difference... All I was told months ago by a coach was to not push lead shoulder down in backswing. (I think many coaches tend to think we won't or don't need to understand the physics involved in what they're saying?)
After referencing improper right hand position, too strong and too weak, it would have been helpful in the context of this video to address proper position. When I went through the grip videos specifically to hear about the right hand, I couldn't locate it. I'll try again.

I think Barnby had some thing to say about your swing Stu!!
He really did, wanted some of the action!

Thanks Lee, hope this educated a little more. 😊
Externally rotating your right shoulder like this is definitely more uncomfortable. Any tips dealing with this ?
Do it more so it’s less uncomfortable? 😊
