Do you happen to know if you can use this feature and turn off the RTH feature? I would like to use a feature like this without the drone trying to RTH, simply stop and hover, so you can walk to it and collect it once the mission is complete.
Another question though, having watched to the end of the clip 🙂 what is the minimum flight speed for waypoint missions? Looks like you had the collision course mission set on 0.7m/s, or maybe the drone had already started slowing by the time you trimmed the clip for your video? So is it possible to set speed at 0.1m/s and is that the lowest setting?
I don't think it helps showing adding waypoints when not on site. I need to see it for a real life situation like setting them for a building progress not flying a river.
Excellent video. I've been looking for a tutorial on this feature for a while now and this is excellent. Also great to see Cushendun in the background.
First Mavic 3 waypoint mission flown today, followed Matthew’s instructions and set it up at home as I knew the flight area well, then tweaked a couple of things when I got to site. I’d definitely say it’s a good idea to at least practice at home so you know what you’re doing when you get to the site.
@@TheDroneCreative I thought it was really intuitive, more so than what used to be on the Phantom4, I forget what that was called. It’s definitely something I’ll use more of. I used it yesterday as a test for both waypoints but also running the Cine in ProRes, so I’ve just need to get to grips editing ProRes and correct colour grading it in Final Cut now.
Great video Mattheww. You consistently produce some of the best drone videos on TH-cam. Your graphics are great and your explanations are clear and very thorough. Keep up the super work. Glad that DJI finally put waypoints back onto their high end drones. Hope they add it to the Mini 3 Pro and Air 2 S soon.
This was super helpful. Thank you for all the time you have put into this video. I am awaiting the delivery of a Mavic 3 Pro. This will be very helpful to experiment with. Thanks again. Have a great day. 😀
Wow, some powerful stuff. It keeps amazing me at the great features that DJI keeps adding. Love my new M3Classic! Gonna have to give this a try. I want to fly along a route, doing time lapse during the day then recreate that same flight during sunset then edit them together for that amazing transition from day to night reel! Great video!
Thank you so much! I’ve been trying to figure this out for quite a while. Can I manually take over the camera while it’s following waypoint and points of interest?
Hi Matthew and hello from a now exiled in Berlin Norn Iron'er! I've just bought my first drone a few days ago - dji mini 3 pro - and can't wait for this feature to make it's way there. Loving the content - I've fallen down a rabbit hole last night and have since watched dozens of your videos through the night :D
I have seen 3rd party apps with these similar capabilities but to have it all incorporated into the DJI controller is super. Nice video. Very detailed. Do you think they would add this to the Mini 3 Pro?
Awesome video Matthew! Thanks for sharing this option, it really helps me understand this flight mode/option without going through all the trials and errors on my own.
Great presentation. I used this while learning. I don’t know if the new Air3 uses the same software, but there are some interesting issues. If you have a complex mission that needs updated, you can delete, but cannot add new waypoints between existing waypoints. I’d be curious as to how your drone flies directly over a waypoint maintaining focus on that waypoint. For example, flying directly across the center of a bridge while maintaining focus on the center. You can rename a mission, but can you copy it so you can modify it without destroying the original mission?
Thanks Matthew, great video. But I have a question. Is this drone able to create waypoint by input the certain coordinate (longitude & lattitude data)? Thanks
Very very helpful video. Excellent job. I’m assuming DJI mini three pro doesn’t have these features. If I buy the Mavic three classic by itself, will my remote allow for this without buying a new remote I have the RC.
Thank you so much, I was wanting to know and you covered it at 15:03 where during a waypoint mode and it came across an object it would stop. This is great.
@@TheDroneCreative Thank YOU for being very nice and thorough also during any of the other automatic modes, does it automatically detect objects as well? I don't know what they're called I'm still new, returning my Air 2s today and getting the Mavic 3 Classic, mainly for the waypoints, wanting to document my new home build but doing a fly around ever week and putting a timelapse together at the end.
Great video - have just got my Mavic 3 Pro. Can't wait to use this feature, which I had on my Inspire 2. But, can I fly the track by varying speed manually, or does it always have to be determined when setting waypoints? Also, is this the only way to have the camera look slightly to the side whilst flying foreward? With the Inspire, I just turn the gimbal, but how do you do it when the camera pan is fixed?
Well explained, Matthew! It made me wonder: is it possible to re-rank your waypoints? Let’s say you want to start by making a pathway of 3 waypoints for figuring out a tricky route in a tight spot, something you want to have settled before adding more options. Then afterwards, say I add a few waypoints previous to and after the 3 made earlier. Will the software recognize so that the initial 3 waypoints are in the middle of the route and not just in the beginning? Also, POI counts just for static objects, not moving ones?
Nice job Matthew on explaining these features. It is most helpful to practice making short videos or making videos at different times of the year. Nice to have functions on the front of the screen.
Thanks for the great video. It doesn't show me the green line between the waypoints. It shows the waypoints but the green line not so I can not see in what curve it will fly between the waypoints. Do you have any idea why ot doesn't show?
Really excellent video, thank you! One question: if for instance waypoint 1 is at 100 feet. Waypoint 2 is at 200. Will it smoothly move from 100 to 200 on the way between the 2 waypoints or will it reach waypoint 2 and then only move from 100 to 200 feet?
excellent tutorial. Can I ask are the waypoints saved anywhere other than your controller? ie to your DJI acount? what happens if you lose the controller or it resets or something. I have a job where they want seasonal footage of the same route....so can't afford to lose the waypoints.
I’ve done a ton of waypoint flights but I’m not seeing some of the options you showed in this video and I didn’t know you could set up the waypoints in advance when you aren’t at the location. I fly both the DJI Air 2S and the Mavic 3 Pro. I’m going to have to dive deeper into the menus now.
Thank you so much for such a consistent waypoints tutorial !! I wonder if there is the possibility to set up a mission using fix overlap perventance among continuous photos taken on consecutively way points (as for example we have in “Pix4d”) so to make orthophoto of a place of interest ?
This is a great video. 1 question...for those of us without the DJI RC (with screen), but have the classic controller that came with the Mavic 3, I don't think we have a C1 button on the back. So how would we set waypoints from the drone position without the C1 button?
thanks for the video. Is there a way you could just fly the drone as you would on a normal day, but then convert your previous flightpath into waypoints, so that you can make it fly that same route again? Sorta like a "replay" button/option?
HI, thanks for making such informative tutorials and videos. Is there a way to use the Waypoints feature on the Mini 3 Pro? I know it is designed for video, and it isn't super accurate but I was wondering if you set it up some way to fly a route and to stop, take a photo and then move on to the next point, do the same etc and then return to the set spot? Reason for asking is to be able to run the same route at different times / seasons etc to then overlay images (likely with a bit of work to match them well in PS) and show the same image in different slices e.g. day to night. would appreciate your thoughts.
Thank you so much I’m a new drone user and trying out this feature not understanding the camera angle rotation where it says good too small to large I’m haphazardly getting it to the right angle so it says good so I can click to the next waypoint yet. I’m not sure what I’m doing each time to get it they’re just looking for a little explanation or help. Anything would be greatly appreciated, and thank you so much for the video. Thank you so much if you’ve already done it and it’s in this video can you just point me to it that would help I’m really enjoying your videos. Again thank you so much for your previous responses on optical avoidance. It does do a nice job I’ve been testing it slowly.
Can you set it to take photos at an interval every few seconds on the way to a waypoint - almost like for mapping? Or can it only just take the one photo at each waypoint?
awesome hard work on something that just came available... How "Low" can you fly in waypoint mode" we film motorcycles off road, this might be great to get some waypoints around some of our tracks, but attitude needs to be very low. Would be nice if I could set waypoints and some of them be only 7' off the ground. I'm assuming obstacle avoidance would still work if there was something in the flight path.
Great job Matt, with a cogent description of WayPoints set up. I used it with the Mavic 2 Zoom & found it to be a very powerful & useful cinematographic video tool.
Another great video, it will be interesting to see what videos are posted in the coming months, with the same flights being flown in various seasons, and whether the positioning will be good enough to split together clips as the seasons change

Actually the second method is more appropriate for places where the satellite imagery doesn't allow for details such in a wooded area or with lots of buildings or structures of different heights and the land itself is full of ravines etc. Again many thanks.
Great video. I wonder are the mission details held on the drone or does it a require a good connection to the controller. Will the mission end if the signal is lost?
It is now enabled, I’ve just bought it, but am unable to download it for some reason! Hopefully I’ll get this resolved soon, no network connection between my iPhone with the Dji fly app open and the RC controller. It’ll be a great addition to the versatility of the drone, once I get it uploaded!
Sorry if this question has been asked already, but do you think waypoints will be added for use with the Mini 3 Pro? I am a previous owner of the Mini 2 (....and Maven), I really loved/needed waypoint capabilities for a little project I was working on, but I sold my Mini 2 and bought the new Mini 3 Pro c/w the new RC controller because I love the new camera capabilities. I knew I was giving up waypoints with this new drone, but hoped that DJI would either add it in future firmware updates or at least allow 3rd parties like Maven or Lychee to be used on the new RC. Is the reason they haven't because the Mini 3 doesn't have side sensors do you think? Or, do you think it still may come some day soon?
Thanks for the video. Very clear and thorough. Just an observation if I may. I was impressed by audio quality of your DJI mic. Not so much with audio in your studio.
Matthew, how do you cancel a waypoint mission that is in process? Say for example a manned aircraft was entering the airspace and you need to land immediately?
Great information. I have a question, once the waypoints are set up and altitude is set; should the drone meet an obstacle will it override the preset altitude or flight path and avoid the unexpected obstacle?

Great video, I wonder if I could set to take photos at 2 second intervals in between waypoints. This would be handy for mapping ?
is this system (and all your explanations) current for the Mavic 3 Pro?
Nice video. You covered everything. So it is not virtual sticks but real waypoints. I will test it tommorow
Real waypoints, and it works REALLY well. Enjoy testing it!
Great video thanks. Holy cow so much to learn. If the civilian drones are this capable imagine the military ones.
Great video. I wonder are the mission details held on the drone or does it a require a good connection to the controller. Will the mission end if the signal is lost?
I believe the mission is uploaded to the drone as there is an option if the drone loses signal to "continue" on the mission - hope that helps!
Excellent explanations, thank you Mattheww
