Dan, I've only been flying drones (specifically the Mavic 3 Classic) for a few days. I've never been a stranger to flying R/C and picked up the control aspect of drone flying pretty quickly. I was very overwhelmed with the drone features and options , camera features and options, and the onscreen info all while flying. I've tried to find the best YT vid to explain what everything is. Your video is the best yet and I think I have a solid grasp of the features and how/when to use them now. A BIG thank you.....

One note for you. The right scroll wheel maybe set to something other than Zoom in and out when it comes from the factory. Just go into button customization and change it to zoom.
Have just ordered my Mavic 3 Classic. This is a very good "walk-thru" telling the user what's available. Thank you - like it. Wish we had your Oz sunshine here in the UK !

Wow, you're the only TH-cam channel that talks about "Button Customization". I didn't know the right scroll wheel could be customized before I received the Mavic 3 Classic. My Mavic 3 Classic came with the Right Scroll Wheel set to "Focal Length". I was dismayed that the right scroll wheel didn't do a smooth continuous zoom. I had to stumble upon this feature. I had contacted DJI Tech support 3 times and they didn't know what I should do. Tsk, Tsk. Thanks for talking about it.
Hi Dan I have a Maric Pro Platinum To be honest I've Hardley used it I bought it Flew it around the rugby field a couple of times. Then I was really sick I was on Cancer treatment for 3 years I've been clear for 3 years now. So about a month ago I was in a cupboard and there it was. I charged everything, controller plus 2 batteries. Took it out to the rugby field It was awesome I few it to the beach around a park and then back to land so much I purchased another battery in case these may not be good after all that time But they all had a little charge left after being in the cupboard for so long. I charged everything last week, checked all charges today. All batteries were 98% controller was 97%. I will sell this drone and purchase the classic DJI have an offer on at the moment. Great detailed video. Just got my cine yesterday. Amazing machine but having lots of bugs one being the map issue. But more annoyingly when I underexpose the image it goes dark and histogram bunches left as excpected. But when I go the other way to say +3EV the histogram stays in the middle and the image looks well exposed on screen even tho taking the image does result in a very overexposed image as you'd expect. Have you heard anyone else mention this bug? My friend also has it. I'm on RC remotes he's on the next version down. Thanks for any info
Very weird, never heard of that. Make sure that everything is up to date and try playing with the settings - go from auto to pro and tweak the other camera settings to see if that helps?

I have a question. I just got the Classic and I’m getting the concept of connecting my iPhone to the RC controller so maps can download. You said, after you get your maps you can shut off the hot spot. My question is what goes on with Remote ID? Doesn’t the drone have to be connected to the Internet at all times? If you could point me to an answer to this question, that would be wonderful… And thank you.
Good question, I haven’t had any of these issues. My device will connect and display maps even when I stop hot spotting. You can download maps offline through the app settings. I believe that they added this feature to the RC and RC Pro. Search it online 👀

Hi, On my Smart Controller screen there is a shortcut "WayPonts" which is located on the left side of the screen above the RTH button. Can that button be removed or changed and how do I do that. I have a DJI Mavic 3 Classic.
I just bought a used Mavic 3 Classic and under color I have one additional option, that is D-log M. Also if I choose D-log I am unable to go below ISO 400. I've looked all over but can't seem to find a tutorial about the difference between dlog and dlogM.

I fly some times on a boat, rth is dangerous in that case....

Bring the drone in the air, hit the three dots, look in “safety” scroll till you find “homepoint update” you will see a map with the homepoint, here you can choose hp drone or controller, you also can manually change the homepoint by slide the map. I hope you will check this, I was very pleased to find this by strange that it is so hard to find. Succes with your channel.

Fantastic video! I liked and subscribed. Question, I am used to flying the Mavic Air 2S and it used to have a kind of sonar icon like thing on the screen where you can tell where you are in relation to your drones orientation. I can't see that same thing on the Mavic 3 Classic I just bought. I have the remote that has the built in screen. Can you give any info on this so I can tell what direction to fly my drone in when I want to return to me. I know about RTH, but I am wanting to do this manually. Thanks in advance for any info! :)

Focus still confusing. If the dot shows "MF" does that mean it is in manual or auto? If it shows AF does that mean auto focus? In other words, does the dot show the current mode or the ability to change to the opposite? Otherwise, nice video

So I was playing with my drone the other day and I was just messing with the sticks on start up and when the take of voice thing came up it also displayed on the screen some sort of aggressive mode that popped up at the bottom of the screen but the mode switch was in the center. didn't know if that was a thing or not. Shut it off turned it back on and I couldn't get it to do it again
Hi Dan! Can you please answer a question? Does the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 classic have the same filter mounting profile? Or because of the zoom lens they are different? Maybe the gimbal lens body can be the same... There are a lot of filters to choose from for the Mavic 3 but only a few for the classic. Maybe those just not updated compatibility by the manufacturers....
How do you record longer videos with the DJI Mavic 3 Classic? I record in 4k and it will only record in 3 min at a time then starts recording a new video.
The files, even while still recording, split to about 3.5-3.6GB each usually in my experience thus far, and its just a technical file storage issue. Just put them in line on your timeline in post and its seamless video!
I can't get this drone to fly. 2 days of trying already. The drone and the console are in but I can't get it to fly. I can't find any instructions on how to do it either. Can anyone give any instructions? At least there is no step by step guide on youtube.
There are also difficulties with switching on the remote. It takes about 10-30 mins to turn on. And you can't turn it off either. Somehow after trying for a long time it still turns off and then again has trouble turning on the remote. Something must be broken. Or is there some kind of button pressing system. But according to the instructions, this is not the way to turn on the power.
To turn on the drone and controller, you need to press the power button and release it, you then need to press and hold the power button immediately after this to turn it on. It sounds like you need to get my drone course: www.fearlessdrone.academy
1st of all the night mode is available on my Dji Mavic 3, is not just available on the Dji Mavic Classic. Overall great video, but the Info u just gave us is NOT ACCURATE!!!

You can reset the home point through the settings but I would not trust the accuracy of doing that. I would suggest hand catching the drone.

Good question, I don’t typically change the bitrate when filming on a drone. I use the default encoding/bitrate options.

The button stays there indefinitely, I don’t believe that we can do anything with it.
Lovely video, thanks! Looked everywhere but cant find the auxiliary led or front arm LEDs, its just not there and i have the latest firmware.

That option is gone now, in that situation you would want to land the drone manually on the boat 🚤

Hi Dan, keen to find a way to increase the RC controller font size. A bit small for me without glasses. Most likely I will need some bifocal glasses.
You might be able to change that in the controller settings. I haven’t seen it myself, larger font size would be nice.

Click on the map in the bottom left corner and then click on the compass icon. That might help 👌

I have not had any issues. I keep the drone in line of sight but no issues with connectivity or range.
Is it always necessary to calibrate the drone and RC before flying?
Not with the newer drones, you will get a warning message if you need to. You can calibrate occasionally though if you want to.

Dan someone broke into my car and took my dji mavic 3 classic is there away to find it or shut it down

I do not believe so. It might be based on which country you buy the drone from.
So I was playing with my drone the other day and I was just messing with the sticks on start up and when the take of voice thing came up it also displayed on the screen some sort of aggressive mode that popped up at the bottom of the screen but the mode switch was in the center. didn't know if that was a thing or not. Shut it off turned it back on and I couldn't get it to do it again
Weird, I have never seen that before. Does anyone else know what might be going on?
I think the same thing happened to me... I think it may have said attitude mode... I'm not sure what was going on

That will depend on your location. Check your governments aviation laws for drones.
Hi Dan! Can you please answer a question? Does the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 classic have the same filter mounting profile? Or because of the zoom lens they are different? Maybe the gimbal lens body can be the same... There are a lot of filters to choose from for the Mavic 3 but only a few for the classic. Maybe those just not updated compatibility by the manufacturers....
They are different, new filters are out now from DJI & FREEWELL

How do you record longer videos with the DJI Mavic 3 Classic? I record in 4k and it will only record in 3 min at a time then starts recording a new video.

I just got this drone yesterday and I am experiencing the same thing. Did you find out how to go over 3min?

The files, even while still recording, split to about 3.5-3.6GB each usually in my experience thus far, and its just a technical file storage issue. Just put them in line on your timeline in post and its seamless video!
zoom in & out is only Video but not w/ Photo is that normal ?

Weird, I thought that you could zoom in and out in both modes? Try updating your firmware.

I can't get this drone to fly. 2 days of trying already. The drone and the console are in but I can't get it to fly.

At least there is no step by step guide on youtube.
There are also difficulties with switching on the remote. It takes about 10-30 mins to turn on.
And you can't turn it off either. Somehow after trying for a long time it still turns off and then again has trouble turning on the remote.
Something must be broken. Or is there some kind of button pressing system. But according to the instructions, this is not the way to turn on the power.
The worst thing is that there are no instructions on how to start flying this drone.
To turn on the drone and controller, you need to press the power button and release it, you then need to press and hold the power button immediately after this to turn it on. It sounds like you need to get my drone course: www.fearlessdrone.academy
One little detail I noticed is If you dont have a MicroSD it wont load the map.

They have added waypoints and some other advanced features. I would still like to see a Follow Me mode.
@DansTubeTV They do have follow me mode You have to change the settings to 180P. Instead of five k Don't use five k or four k Use 1080p Turn highlight the selective person would like to follow And you can choose what side to follow from behind left right front
