    Nice one! I have 2 tikkas myself. One 308 with MDT HNT26 with a Vortex Razor Gen II 3-19 magnification. I have bought a new boltshroud in titanium, as well as titanium bolt handle. What i am missing on it is a carbon barrel and fluting the bolt. The second is a T3X Super Varmint in 223 with heavy barrel, flutet bolt in a KRG Bravo chassis. The MDT 10-shot mags fits and feeds like a glove. I also have the NV-mount on the front as well as arca bipod. Not the lightest setup but it is 1/4 moa with factory barrel. The fun thing about it is that i use the new cheap Venom scope from Vortex and it arent far from the more expensive scopes when it comes to quality. The glass ofc is a bit lackluster, but then again 1/4 moa on 100 meters! Have done these groupings several times at the range, so think il stick with it, even tho it is a placeholder for something more expensive

    $4500 on a .223 is a huge waste of money. a wiser option would be a 6mm creedmoor or 6.5mm wsm, or a 6mm ARC... they're way more versatile. now if you said $600-800 on a .223 that would make sense.

    Nice build. Was there a reason to why you chose Gunworks for the halfcock mod etc as to getting Hardy rifles to do everything?
    Cheers

      To be honest, I dont think Hardy was doing the Tikka Proformance when I built the rig, I have seen there work and I wouldn't hesitate to get the build completed buy them

    Good on you if you got your wifey to believe those mods were “needed” lol. I’d have fixed the minor free floating issue and spent the money on ammo for the boys to gain skills with.

    Is there more videos on this? Wanting a light handy rifle as well and your the first video I've seen that actually weighs stuff out.

    I cut a coil out of my tikka trigger spring and it breaks a hair under 2lbs... its awesome. It also passed the slam fire test.

      @hdnz7802 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just trim the top off the cap screw and you can back the adjustment screw out further I got mine down to under a pound

    • @wesleyturner1979
      @wesleyturner1979 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hdnz7802 Ooh I didn’t think of that! It might be a better hack so the spring stays in the same shape! I tried that Mt Tactical spring in mine but it wouldn’t adjust over two pounds and I didn’t want my trigger that light on a hunting rifle. With that MT spring you can breathe on it and get it to fire.

    Would a tikka action be close to or as good as using a custom action for a build I already have a tikka t3x and have an ag composite stock coming ....... considering re barreling in the future but I’ve never felt or used a custom action

    • @sabre_tactical
      @sabre_tactical  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A good custom action will probably cost you more than a tikka rifle, and you do get what you pay for but neither are as good as they can be with out a good barrel

    • @aidenmcclendon5457
      @aidenmcclendon5457 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tikka in my opinion makes some of the best factory actions as far as production. Their barrels are also fantastic. Bergara is another "cheaper" production gun with good barrels and actions and as far as a platform to build on. If you already have a Tikka and wanna make it a custom build it's definitely a good starting point.

    For the money your spending on this tikka which is about 5k I'm guessing you still have a tikka at the end of the day and a long action 223 at that??? Wouldnt you be better with a sako 85 carbon light if your going to spend that much money. better bottom metal, better mag ,better trigger ,better action with controled round feed and better safety system and 3 locking lugs suited to the size of caliber, better stock built to a higher quality to a southfort ,better resale value ,better barrel less bulky cold hammer forged and in 223 will half moa and better all day long with factory and a lighter rifle

      Tikka is a great gun

    • @dragonfire-jx7qx
      @dragonfire-jx7qx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@masonlivingston5849 absolutely they are in my experience they shoot just as good as any other rifle even with factory ammo but I dont see the point in spending a heap of money on a rifle that has a tikka action when you can go sako and get a high quality action as well as a good magazine and a action size suited to your caliber but each to their own

      I agree 100%. The only thing is that sometimes it's cool to have a project and to build something of your own. But yep, if I had that budget I would have gone straight to lightweight sako.
