@@m.tplayz8222 Brisbane mate, funny timing cause it took my mesa stock a year to arrive. It just landed last Wednesday. Got some spare mesa stocks also for a tikka action RH.
How was the fit and finish on your stock? I’ve seen on I think it was mesas website the reviews, a lot of people said they had problems with their stock. Some said the recoil lug wasn’t properly on and other said the finish was bad and the fit was off for the contour they ordered. Others gave it 5 stars and said it was everything they hoped for.
I haven’t had any issues. I did have to do a little work to make my bottom metal fit perfectly the way I wanted it to. Some people probably wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that.
@@sclivingoutdoors I can see that. Again, she’s a beauty! I think I’m going to try the grayboe phoenix. It’s about the same price, but I like the fact it has an adjustable cheek rest. Great video and keep putting out great content.
Really nice rifle. im in the middle of turning my old tikka 300 win mag into a full carbon build. what contour is you barrel and what barrel channel size did you go with on your stock? I'v got a x-caliber barrel on the way with a .999" contour, im hoping the MESA stock has a true 1.2" barrel channel and i dont run into a none free float problem.
@SCliving Outdoors I appreciate you getting back to me sir. What twist rate did you get your carbon 6 barrel in and what grain bullets are you using? No more questions I promise.😁
I know this is an older video but I am ordering a 20 inch CarbonSix barrel for my Tikka 300WM. Mine will be almost identical to yours when I'm done. How did you decide on a 1:8 twist vs the more common 1:10?
Based on my research a 1/8 did a better job of stabilizing 200gr bullets. My goal is to shoot 200s. Up until this point I have been shooting 180 extremely well. 1/2 to 3/4” moa. Eventually I will shoot 200gr but 200gr accubonds have been tough to find bc of the everything with Covid.
That's actually a grouse build! looks so good man, what was the point in buying the tikka first? just for the bolt and receiver? how accurate is it with the short barrel?
I bought the Tikka for under $700. I sold the original stock and barrel to help offset the build price. I saved the bolt, receiver, and trigger assembly. A custom receiver/bolt is over $1000. The gun has a 22” barrel + muzzle brake. It shoots 1/2” moa with off the shelf ammo. Last time out I shot a 4” group at 800yds. Thanks for watching.
I actually had a gunsmith pull off the barrel and put the new one on. That’s the only thing that I paid someone to do. I watched him put the new barrel on just so I could learn. He said he did not have any issues removing the old barrel. Because everything went smoothly it was pretty cheap also.
I’m still currently using 180gr AB. I am considering changing to 200gr terminal assents bc of the availablity of Accubonds and my gun really likes the Terminal Ascents.
Is the first upgrade for a budget to replace the Tikka plastic trigger guard with metal bottom? (I live in Alaska and also only eat what I shoot and most of my kills are less than 200 yards)
No issues. It’s an awesome gun. If you look at my hunting videos over the last 3 years almost every western big game animal has been killed with this rifle.
Love the channel, found you for searching custom Tikk's, I'm not able to find a lot of reviews on Carbon Six, hows your barrel holding up? Would you still purchase this over a Proof? Thx.
Just curious why you didn’t want to do the build on your 7mm-08? I was considering doing a very similar build but with that caliber for backcountry hunts
Hello great video. Very illustrative. I’m no the same proceso to change the same Tikka in a better hunting rifle. Quick question how difficult was to change the barrel? I have heard that those tikka barrels are a pain in the but to remove. Thanks.
I actually had a local gunsmith take the original barrel off and put on the new barrel to make sure everything was done correctly. It wasn’t very expensive. He said the original barrel came off with no problems.
Which Sendero profile did you go with? The Sendero/Proof Prefit 1.13" shank or the Proof Sendero 1.2" shank? I have the same barrel, but 26" in 27 Nosler for my Tikka. Currently looking for a good carbon fiber stock that will fit.
Fluting the bolt. Did it still have the same smoothness the Tikkas are known for? I like a light package but not the hollowness of the butt. Is it solid, hollow or filled withe foam
I’ve shot a 2” group at 600. I killed a muley at 530 and elk at 575 this year. Both one shot kills. All with factory ammo. 180gr accubonds. Next year I’ll reload and I’ll be shooting 200gr accubonds but I didn’t have time to mess with it this year.
I saved myself money by buying the whole gun. I paid around 650 for the rifle I believe then sold the barrel and the stock for about $130 combined so I was in the bolt, receiver and trigger a little over $500.
Do you think using a tikka action for a semi custom build is a better choice than buying a custom action ....... I’m 17 and have a tikka already and ordered an ag stock but just wondering what you think about that
I think the tikka action is phenomenal. Especially when you pair it with their trigger. There are some really awesome looking custom titanium actions out there, but I don’t really know much about them. The price is about $1200 - 1500. It just wasn’t worth it for me especially since I love the tikka actions so much.
Dan Lin my barrel contour is Sendero with the prefit Sendero channel. You should always call the companies before ordering though to make sure your combination will fit
I don’t talk about money on my channel, but I did list all the materials I used so people can do some research and get a general idea of what it cost to build.
@@sagespinner9526 the gun shoots great. I don’t have any issues with it. There is an updated video on my channel. Like all guns it likes certain bullets more than others. It shoots accubonds excellent. ELDX’s were awful.
@@sclivingoutdoors ok thank you for your prompt replies. Working on a rifle currently and I’m debating wether to just buy a prefit barrel or find a decent local gunsmith to spin a blank for me.
Great video! So helpful. Quick question on the barrel installation. Did you do that yourself using a set of go/no-go gauges or did you simply “plug and play”? Congrats on the hunt!
You definitely have to use the go/nogo gauges. But it fit my barrel fit absolutely perfect. However, the difference between the 2 gauges is only 4/1000s of an inch so if you buy a go gauge you can just put a piece of masking tape over the back end of the gauge and it becomes a no go gauge. If you’d never done it I’d recommend paying a gunsmith but making sure it’s ok if you stay and learn. That’s what I did. Very informative.
@@sclivingoutdoors thinking of going the same route you did but with a 7 rem mag. But a longer barrel. Probably a 24”. Carbon 6 seems to be the best direction for a barrel just wish they had more documentation on the full contour for the tikka. I wanted an AG stock but they want you to buy through a 3rd party for them to make it which cost more than just buying through them. So keeping the Mesa stock as my backup option if I don’t get the price I want for the AG stock.
@@SpudOutdoors I believe the contour on my barrel is sendero and it fits perfectly. I think the proof and c6 are pretty close in their measurements for the different contours

Philosophical question: is it still the same gun?
You can make that decision. If you asked 100 people you’d get 100 answers. It doesn’t really matter to me. It does exactly what it’s supposed to.
You should be fine. I’m running a .830” sendero barrel with the 1.13 sendero channel.
U said that bipod was 40$ how did u do that it looks really nice thx
I bought it off eBay.
Dude i love that. Nice job!
Did you remove old barrel and install new yourself sir? I'm a lefty, dont have many options and unfortunately I have bottoms in my pockets.
I had a local gunsmith help me and show me how. It wasn’t expensive and a good skill to learn.
@SCliving Outdoors I appreciate you getting back to me sir. What twist rate did you get your carbon 6 barrel in and what grain bullets are you using? No more questions I promise.😁
@@brucemcgraw2329 1/8 twist. I’m currently shooting Federal Premium with 180gr Accubond.
Nice work man. I like the Montana shirt, I live in NW Montana. I just got a Bergara 300 PRC and I am going to pimp it out.
AWESOME! Bergara makes a good rifle!
Did u spin the barrel off and if so how hard was that I have same gun and want to do something like this
I actually had a gunsmith pull off the barrel and put the new one on. That’s the only thing that I paid someone to do. I watched him put the new barrel on just so I could learn. He said he did not have any issues removing the old barrel. Because everything went smoothly it was pretty cheap also.
Your groups in target..?? Thank you my friend.. more blessing..
1/2” - 3/4” moa with factory ammo off the shelf.
Since u have been hunting with the gun for awhile what ammo u using
I’m still currently using 180gr AB.
I think the first upgrade is a good scope depending on what youre running. Then move to the bottom metal/mag.
th-cam.com/video/RpOfLmCj1jk/w-d-xo.html
How’s this rifle treated you? I’m looking to build something exactly like this.
No issues. It’s an awesome gun. If you look at my hunting videos over the last 3 years almost every western big game animal has been killed with this rifle.
@@sclivingoutdoors great to hear!!
Curious choice on the red on the bolt
Red is my favorite color so I decided to paint the shroud.
I love the hunting too
Love the channel, found you for searching custom Tikk's, I'm not able to find a lot of reviews on Carbon Six, hows your barrel holding up? Would you still purchase this over a Proof? Thx.
I haven’t had any issues with my barrel. I don’t have any experience with proof, but I’d buy another carbon6 barrel without any worries.
Just curious why you didn’t want to do the build on your 7mm-08? I was considering doing a very similar build but with that caliber for backcountry hunts
Jaden Wiser I wanted a heavier bullet that hit a lot harder at longer distances on all different sized game.
dude...good...job man!!!!
Thank you
Hello great video.
Class build and best of luck with it. How does the 300wm do with a 22" barrel?
It’s a tack driver
Does your bolt handle have any play in it ? Mine feels pretty damn loose but I also have it fluted ..... just not sure how normal it is
Mine is rock solid. No play at all.
Is the atlasworx bottom a drop in or does it need to be modified? Thanks.
It is a drop in. I did a little modifications on the underside of the bottom metal for my aftermarket stock for it to sit the way I wanted it to.
Great Video Congratulations
Thank you
Just found your site, what did you drill into ? The Receiver or the stock to mount the picatinny?
The stock
OH btw, where did you get that barrel from?
Carbon 6
Did the bolt fluting increase or decrease action smoothness? I want to flute mine but i dont want the action smoothness to decrease
It didn’t affect mine at all.
Which Sendero profile did you go with? The Sendero/Proof Prefit 1.13" shank or the Proof Sendero 1.2" shank? I have the same barrel, but 26" in 27 Nosler for my Tikka. Currently looking for a good carbon fiber stock that will fit.
I really don’t remember. I would call carbon six and discuss it with them.
Nice rifle. Is that Pattern B High Helix for your bolt fluting??
I don’t remember. I just picked the one I liked and ordered it.
Looks good, how does it shoot?
Under 1/2” moa with factory ammo
Mate, That is a DARN GOOOD rifle right there! lol but seriously, sweet gun, great video and love that all American accent. Cheers from Straya!
Thanks man. It’s a great gun
Fluting the bolt. Did it still have the same smoothness the Tikkas are known for?
I like a light package but not the hollowness of the butt. Is it solid, hollow or filled withe foam
The fluting did not change the smoothness of the bolt. The factory stock is hollow. my stock feel solid but I have not remove the butt plate to look.
Great job!!!
Sweet rig
Thank you
Do you have a video on how it runs? Or am I missing it?
I just posted one yesterday.
Well done!!
Thank you
Great rifle looks amazing. I am thinking about marking a custom tikka t3 7 REM mag how much did your one cost.
I don’t talk about money in the comments but I listed everything out so with a little research you can get a general idea. Good luck. Have fun.
@@sclivingoutdoors ok thanks very much
considering a carbon six barrel. have you shot it? if so, does it maintain 1/2 moa like they claim?
I’ve shot a 2” group at 600. I killed a muley at 530 and elk at 575 this year. Both one shot kills. All with factory ammo. 180gr accubonds. Next year I’ll reload and I’ll be shooting 200gr accubonds but I didn’t have time to mess with it this year.
@@sclivingoutdoors so safe to say it'll shoot as advertised. Im probably going to order one, just hoping its not an outrageous lead time.
I would have done the exact same thing
Nice hows it shoot
Very very well
Nice job. Is the stock alpine?
Yes
@@LBZOverlander depending on distance and conditions you can see the vapor trail
Very nice build, why didnt you just buy a bare action though and save yourself a little money?
I saved myself money by buying the whole gun. I paid around 650 for the rifle I believe then sold the barrel and the stock for about $130 combined so I was in the bolt, receiver and trigger a little over $500.
Did you use the factory recoil lug?
I think so. Or the new stock came with one. I can’t remember.
to make your gun PERFECT reload
I’m planning on it bc I can’t find the exact round I want to shoot, but the gun currently is 1/4-1/2” moa.
Who did you get to swap your barrel
A local gun smith that lives about 5 miles from my house.
@@sclivingoutdoors yeah the trigger on mine is pretty much the best factory trigger I’ve felt ...... thanks
I love that gun look very cool
Thanks
Hi what is your CF barrel contour and which barrel contour option did you choose for Mesa stock? Thanks,
Dan Lin my barrel contour is Sendero with the prefit Sendero channel. You should always call the companies before ordering though to make sure your combination will fit
Nice good job like it
Thank you
How did you attach the atlas bipod with that mounting system?
I mounted a picatinny rail to the forend.
So what did it cost to build?
I don’t talk about money on my channel, but I did list all the materials I used so people can do some research and get a general idea of what it cost to build.
Is your barrel a prefit barrel or did you get it spun up by a gunsmith?
Prefit
@@sclivingoutdoors how does it shoot for you? Have you had any issues with fliers, poi shifts, or any accuracy issues at all?
Right on! Thx!
What height are those DNZ mounts? I have almost the same setup and I just ordered medium height.
Medium is what I have
@@sclivingoutdoors Thanks!
How is the finish holding up ?
No issues
@@sclivingoutdoors thank you
Which contour did you choose for the stock barrel Channel. They have two options for proof barrels
I cross-referenced the carbon six barrel contour measurements against the proof barrel contour measurements.
@@sclivingoutdoors so you had the barrel when you measured it? The only one on their website doesn’t list a tikka shank diameter.
@@SpudOutdoors are you wanting to put a carbon barrel in the factory stock?
One more question because I love the rifle and I am doing the same kinda build to my 300 I got the same proof barrel but I want to get that stock but on there web site it says 1.13 in shank and the other says 1.2 what option did u get I want to order one
I don’t remember which I ordered. I’d call and talk to them to verify you get exactly what you need.
@@sclivingoutdoorsthx for being so chill love the content keep hunting come to Alaska and get a moose sometime that would be a rad video
@@HarvestAlaska no sweat. Good luck with your build. Let me know if you have any more questions. I’ve been to Alaska three times twice for Sitka Blacktail and once for black bear. Moose and Caribou up there are on the list at some point.
