I tried my hand at bedding my rifle a few months back. It came out great with MarineTex but this video is everything I learned from my research over a few days condensed into one. I had good luck with playdoh in the areas I wanted to keep the epoxy out of. Thank you for making this. Wish I had seen it previously.
Thanks particularly for the pillar length specs!! I could not find them anywhere so measured my factory stock. Good to watch your process and your thoughts about each step.
@@allterraarms Thanks to your explanations and my manual skills, it is very much thanks to you that I finished the job on my rifle very well. I will always keep your teaching in mind and I saved this beautiful video.. very professional. Thank you very much again!!! I would offer you a dinner or lunch but unfortunately I am very far away in Italy...in fact I would propose myself as your employee if you want me...I am cheap and I like working in your sector!!!!
So glad I seen this video before I bedded my two tikkas! I have grayboe stocks that just came in for my 300 wsm and 7prc and I definitely need to bed them. I’ve watched every video at least twice and skipped over this one because of the tittle! I was under the impression it was on just pillars. So glad I watched the video! I took notes and now need supplies I wasn’t going to use since other videos had their way of doing it, but this way is much much more accurate and reassuring! Thanks for the video and new found confidence that I could bed my tikkas without issue!
@@steveelder5306 I did. I pre ordered a tikka proof research carbon barrel 2 summers ago. Super easy to take the barrel off and threaded the pre-fit on. Hells canyon has the best magazine, if you decide to go with 7 prc. The 7 prc cartridges didn’t feed or fit from the stock tikka 7mm rem mag, magazine.
Congratulations for the video, very informative and clear! It can be seen that you are professionals, you work with professionalism and serenity... if I didn't live so far away I would have had you do the work for my CZ. However, thanks to your suggestions, I'm sure I can do it on my own too. Thanks for the explanation and clarity!
Now just imagine making a stock out of hi grade 6061 t6 aluminium stock and having it cnc machined so every areas which require a bolt of screw is made as part of the aluminum stock that way you do not have to use so much bedding glue or compound etc. You will have such a hard and perfect alignment of the barrel to the stock imho. cheers 🦘🦘✌✌👍👍
We have used compression with rubber tubing in the past. Using the action screws ensures that the bedding cures with the action as level as possible and that the screws will go right where they need to be. Also keep bedding material from getting into the action screw holes.
Have bedded my MDT CHassis for my T3x. Unfortunetly I glued the Recoil Lug to the Back stop in the Syste,. Do you think I ruined the whole thing?? THX!
Does the stock Tikka T3x Lite come with pillars? What is the recommended torque spec on the action screws? Tikka manual says 45 or 62 in-lbs depending on if your stock is a plastic base vs metal base. 62 in-lbs sounds insanely high. I’ve heard people get best results between 35-40 in-lbs… after adjusting my trigger pull, I torqued my stock back on to roughly 37 in-lbs. Seems to be on secure and the magazine slides right in… not sure if I’m missing something.
Thanks for the video! Was there any bedding compound left on the pillar surface where they contact the action? Seemed like it but I couldnt really tell. Should the pillar contact surface be cleaned or does this has little effect on the bedding process and/or accuracy?
There will be bedding compound on the pillar surface. It will be very thin where the action contacts them. Bedding a round action surface to a flat pillar top, you will want the compound to flow in and fill all but just where the action contacts the pillars.
0 seconds ago I had a 700 loaded up, hs precision stock , timbey trigger , free floated and bedded. Shot good but my tikkas are better. All tikkas you're throwing away I'm gonna need your trash then.
Also with 3d scanning tech, so much easier to buy a black stock and cnc machining it to perfectly fit any rifle action and barrel? Also you can charge a price based on the amount of time required, no need for chemicals for bedding the stock with the barrel shape or action shape, its all 3d printed these days based on the type of weapon system you have and so much more precise as well? ✌✌🦘🦘👍👍

Every rifle I've bedded definitely made a huge difference in consistent accuracy

did you rebarrel to 7mm PRC? I'm wanting a Tikka in that caliber.

Did you shoot your rifle before and after bedding ? If so, What was the outcome ?
What I would do differently is JB weld the recoil lug to the action . Put tape on sides , bottom, and front of recoil lug and coat it with wax.

Great job!
Love the process, would be interested to hear your thoughts on torquing the action in during bedding versus using compression with elastic or other.
We have used compression with rubber tubing in the past. Using the action screws ensures that the bedding cures with the action as level as possible and that the screws will go right where they need to be. Also keep bedding material from getting into the action screw holes.
Great video. Keep them coming!
Great stuff brother.👍👍👍
Hi, can you give me the pillar insert lengths in millimeters, please ? Awesome video by the way. Tank you.
I use Sno-Seal leather wax wnd J.B. Weld.for glass bedding.

A dry wall bit in the Dremel is much better to clean the bedding up. Your welcome 😁
i don't agree to torquing the 10 mm sockets, for a better bedding job no torque must be used.
You guys ship to Canada

You rock with those nuts and studs...lol
Figured by that point in the video, folks would be ready for some comic relief.
Is the recoil lug permanently bedded in the stock or can you take it out? Thanks
The recoil lug remains permanent in your bedding work, just how the same part is permanent in the factory Tikka stock.
Could you use the release compound to protect the edges of the stock from any overflow?
You could, but its not necessary on any areas that are accessible to be cleaned off before the compound is set.
Great job i have seen your the best i ever sèen🎉😮
You haven't seen many bedding videos then!😂😂😂
Did you make the recoil lug a permanent part of the stock?
Yes, just like a factory Tikka stock, the recoil lug becomes permanently fixed.
33:58 металлические втулки оказались чуть длиннее, поэтому ствольная коробка вылезла вверх.
Is the white area on the stock foam for the core of the stock?
It’s not foam, the core is a dense machinable compound made with resin and 3M micro glass bubbles.
Thanks.,.
The stock.... AG composites?
This is our own stock. Our design, we machine the molds, and do the carbon layups.
what is 1964 drill pit? is it bigger than a hamburger but smaller than football field?
19/64th inch drill bit. About 7.5mm
👍🏻👍🏻
This guy us hilarious
You said NUTS.
🤣
Aqui no Brasil nós não temos nada destes produtos pra trabalhar como armeiro temos que importar fica muito caro
Dont forget to thread your nuts.
Its not a 10mm nutt its an m6 nutt. In metric you dont name it after the toolgrip you name it after the threed..
When you run out of that wax just grab a toilet ring and smash it into that tin.
Now there's a solid tip!
Tikka rifles shoot fine, but that recoil lug has to be the absolute worst in the firearms industry
LongRifles Inc, has a fix for the tikka recoil log
😂😂😂
It looks like a big pain in the a** to me.
Great video but damn that end result wasn’t pretty. I would be pissed if I was that customer
How to bed a tikka? WHY? #1 toss it in the trash and get a Remingtion700 start there. Like putting drag slicks on a Prius.

Tikka is a far better rifle than a 700, unless you go custom action.
Bohhh! La resina mi sembra versata con la cazzuola.

i dont like how the recoil lug isn't part of the action...
Most people dont. However theyre the most accurate out of the box rifle you can get.
@@RagingOatmeal nope
@@rich7331 yes
@@rich7331 Just buy one. You won’t regret it. I own several, likely won’t be very buy another model 70 or a 700, custom or not. Tikkas just shoot.
