In this episode, Hari M. R. introduces Sri K. G. Ramesh, a Vanamitra Award winner, who is
so passionate about plants and trees that he has a medicinal forest close to his house. He has
a collection of about 1,500 varieties in his own garden plot that covers nearly one-and-a-half
acres. Sri Ramesh uses no chemical fertilizers or pesticides, allows dry leaves and twigs to
remain on the ground to function as mulch, and does not burn them. He is not a trained
botanist but he consults experts, and tries to label all the plants and trees in his plot. His
live-and-let-live policy with regard to small creatures, including snakes, in his medicinal
forest has caused him no harm, and the trees planted close to his house have posed no threat
to the building.

പൂച്ചപഴം, ദന്തപാല, അശോകം, കാര, നാട്ടൂഞ്ഞാൽ, ചെറുതാളി, വെള്ളകുന്നൻ (Casearia bourdillonii), കരിക്കുന്നൻ (Casearia wynadensis),കിഴുവ (Commiphora caudata).
Ziziphus xylopyrus, Ziziphus glabrata, Xylocarpus granatum, Xanthophyllum arnottianum, Viburnum coriaceum ഇവയും കിട്ടുമോ എന്ന് നോക്കുക.

Very beautiful Miyawaki forest, set some banana trees in this forest
Banana plants spreads and occupies the area, causing hinderance to the growth of other plants. They cannot be considered as part of forest fauna and are not generally planted in Miyawaki model forests. If after a Miyawaki forest has grown for about 2 to 3 years, and they having reached a fairly well growth, banana plants can be planted on the side boundaries or so, if they are much preferred .
I already have it in my ten cents land next to my house near lulu Edappally. Since I worked with Japanese I know about Miyawaki forest about 40 years back according to them type plant trees herbs shrubs can grow in it. Regarding banana plant we can cut the leaves properly and grow it. We can grow crawler plants down to banana plants and also arround a areca tree arround two three. Nowadays small leaf banana plant and tall long banana leaf plants available. Main problem we are facing in our forest is the African snails are spreading more. One of my Japanese vo worker recently visited Kerala and he wondered seeing our state and replied we are all living in forests. Noticed in our state full of trees nowadays may be forty years back there are much trees or small plants here, we can watch when travelling in a bus see both sides of the roads feels like a forest and a house in each 20cents of land.
