I'm in Australia and did one friday night for app. 6hrs ... got trip after trip .... after Uber takes their money, petrol and tax it worked out to be app. $20 per hour ... That doesn'y consider wear and tear on your car, depreciation given you are going to put huge KMs on your car and the risk of letting strangers into your car ... I really don't know why people do this ...

I drive a car that is worth ZERO, a 10 year old smart with 77,000 miles, gas is $7.50 USD a day, if you do UBER eats, the worst thing that can happen is spilling a drink, I have a special box for drinks in the back.

I have a Dodge caravan uber xl. I live 2 miles from the airport I get all my request from there. The riders are usually going from 1hr to 2hr trips which pays better and saves me gas driving in the highway.

My co worker ordered an UBER SUV by mistake in New Orleans...she thought her airport ride was going to be $25 and it ended up being over $100. I told her that she ordered an SUV. I asked her if she noticed it was a luxury SUV and she said she didn't notice. These luxury SUVs can run 50-80K which is one thing that Torsten doesn't tell you. In order to make the big money you have to have the right clientelle...i.e rich people. You have to drive in populated areas where a lot of upper class people live. If you try driving an Uber SUV in a small down or middle/lower class area you are not going to get any requests.

    • @davidb4411
      @davidb4411 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

If you watch his videos, he goes into great detail about the SUV's as well as the other options. He's said several times to not jump in too deep. I wish I would have found his videos before I signed up with Uber!

How is it possible she didn't know how much it was going to be? Uber tells you the cost from the moment you put in your destination.

    • @JeffBrown518
      @JeffBrown518 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Great point -- people used to be able to use that excuse, but like you said, Uber puts in the cost estimate right in front of your eyes before you press, "request ride." Was she not paying attention?

Joseph Messineo this is so true. I drive a 2005 Lexus and every single person thinks that it's at least a 2010 or newer because it looks so good. I get mostly Uber pool requests and part of me wants to start turning them down because I don't know what I'm missing while I'm on a trip for 30 minutes but then again I feel like I should accept everything I can because I may not get another request for 5 or 10 minutes. I don't even hardly get uberX anymore and I realize this video is 1 year old but things really obviously have not changed very much but no. I am in the Uber select category and in the 1.5 months I've been eligible for that category, I've only gotten one request. Oh I'm sorry, it was immediately canceled as you could tell it was a mistake so that right there goes to show you that you're not going to make very much money, to go out and buy a car or a higher-end category or a luxury category, it's not worth it unless you just want that car and have another job besides Uber. This s*** has run my s*** into the ground and people in Atlanta don't tip. I do everything I can from helping with luggage, providing candy, just being super respectful, engaging in conversation or leaving them alone if they seem like they need to do something or have earphones, it seems like nothing really makes it different so it's like, why even do most of this s***? I will always help the elderly no matter what and even females close to my age, I'll offer to help with their luggage and at least get out and open the door for them and things like that because it's not going to take any longer but as far as getting out to help a man, I'm done LOL they usually tell me to get back in the car anyway but, it's the thought that counts

Uber advertises a 20-25% commission taken from its drivers, but we found that that number is actually a lot higher. On minimum fare rides, it can be as much as 50% commission when you take into account the safe ride/booking fee.

It's so Harding I've been driving with Uber for over 4 years. And my rating is 487. But my rating continues to bounce up and down constantly. With the ones and the other numbers. But I am definitely considering on stop driving for uber. They take in excess on some rides 50 to 60%. I've never seen a company so money hungry in my life. They s*** on the drivers every chance they get. I do about 400 to $500 a week. But I only drive 15 hours a week. And I'm in the dmv. I would encourage people to do Uber part time if you can. I am retired. But Uber is a really Cutthroat company and it's just so sad it hurts my heart when I see all of these videos. Always talking about the things that Uber is always doing trying to make more money for themselves f*** us. So I'm just really tired I don't feel like keep fighting with uber. And try to figure out their next con. But yeah please please listen to these videos they're very important. This guy has been in business for however long he's been. He's a cutthroat he's a liar he's a stealer and he's a cheater. And he uses us as drivers, for all his plots and games. And I'm so sick of uber. Lyft is no better but they're a little better. Thank you

I drive UberX and for a week of driving I average between $600 on slow weeks and $750 - $950 on weeks with some event happening. I don't get much in the way of tips because 98% of my passengers are college kids who won't tip unless you serve them drugs or alcohol or they accidentally leave a few bucks on my back seat. I drive Mon - Sat probably 6 - 10 hours a day.

for the non believers, if you build your business and have repeat customers that take long trips, 1500 to 2500 a week with SUav, net is easy. guys on here are making 1500 with Uber X. so do not be discouraged by the non velievers and nay sayers. i have clients i frive from LA to SD, those are over $500 trips, but you got to build that clienteke first. referrals are just extra bonuses

UberX, that's $1,500 for maybe 80 hours of work, before expenses. ... I really need to go back to bottle serving/bartending so I can double what I'm making in Uber- Uber is wearing me thin. I feel like a tired, worn old hag from the work I'm doing with Uber. It's eating the rest of my 20s away, and taking away from the time I need to build my career, at the low amount I'm making, causing me to drive so many hours, just to get by. It's been eating at my soul lately, and I hope I can make it past this.

The thing with Uber is it's great money, (probably the best paying app at the moment)but they make you drive every where. That means more kms added to your vehicle. Compare to door dash for example, they pay wayy less Uber, but they only put you in one area so less kms added to your vehicle

I live in a college town, so I am hoping that the average goes up now that school is back. I do not have Uber black available in my town, but I am considered UberXL. How much in gas?
How much do you pay for insurance payments for black car/SUV
How long must you wait for passengers
What if your ratings falls below 4.8
How much does an SUV cost?
How many people enter your SUV
How much do you pay in taxes
What's the yearly depreciation on your car in percentage and actual numbers.
    Parking your SUV
It's usually and American car..how much are the repair costs?

David M Gallego are you registered as an individual driver or as a company (LLC)? yes those costs are all factored in. not taken into account here are approx 400 to $500 weekly tips from private clients. cars are bought cash at dealer auctions for a fraction of what you are paying a dealer, and monies from weekly tips are set aside for taxes and repairs. nost importantly, i pay a brilliant tax man. no tolls where i drive either

Quick question: how does one build clientele when uber gives you trips based on your location? How does social media play a part in increasing your finances at the end of the day?

    • @AskTorsten

Social media allows you to market/advertise your referral code(s) and refer drivers. The rideshare companies pay different bonuses for these referrrals

Here in Portland OR I drive Friday and Saturday nights with a few random hours on Thursdays here and there...Thursday. my average weekly is about 400-450 or about 2k per month on Uber X. I spend about $40 per week on gas so I can safely say I take home about $1500 per week after basic expenses including car washes and oil changes. That's gotta be one of the best part time job in my area hands down other than maybe being a stripper lol

Good stuff too bad it only works in select markets. I drive in Las Vegas and started with UberX. If I made more than $500 in a week it was many hours. Uber advertised I could make $500 a DAY in this market. I wrote to them and asked, what do I need to do to earn this? I was putting 40-50 hours a week on the clock and hitting all the busy areas so, what am I doing wrong? They refused to answer my questions. I talked to several Select drivers and they were lucky to make $1,200 a WEEK after 60 hours so I knew this wasn't the answer. I went to the Uber office locally and asked them, I was told NOTHING. They were happy to lead me to believe I could make $500 a day, in Las Vegas, but had NO answers as to how I would actually do this. So, I decided to go buy a vehicle I could use for XL service, since SUV and LUXSUV and Black are not in this market. Totally disappointed! I am bringing in a little more than UberX but not enough to justify the cost of the vehicle and I'm not even making $250 a day with 10 hour days! As for building Clientele, impossible in this market. Most people using the service are here on vacation and once they have a couple drinks its easier to call the closest car than it is to wait for me, I've tried. I've watched as drivers move here from other States thinking Vegas must be really busy all the time and lots of money and then they move back home. don't waste your time, stay where you are. Our trips are too short to make any money, people cancel frequently and we already have too many drivers. I'm thinking of moving to the Professors neighborhood!

This is probably great information for someone in your market of Los Angeles. But I live in a city of roughly 200,000 people. Referrals have flooded the market with drivers, but the demand for rides has dropped off due to Uber's price gouging (surge) pricing. If I make 50.00 a day in my market, even on a Friday or Saturday night, that's a good day.

Mr. rideshare I think you are an amazing individual making all this money by working SMART and not HARD. I recently started driving for Uber in South FL and at the beginning I did not make much money and I thought I was just wasting my time. But then I began to see a surge pattern over the weeks (took me 2 months) and I began riding those patterns. I use to make 250 to 300 dollars just working anywhere from 20 to 30 hrs a week since I'm studying to be an architect. Once I saw the pattern I just had one of my biggest week last week. I got 600 in only 30 hrs. I thought that was amazing. unfortunately I drive Uberx because of my car. but I want you to know that you're doing an amazing thing by sharing your tips and tricks with everyone despite the ignorant people out there that get upset because they don't make much money with Uber. I thank you and I'm very grateful to have your videos free of charge. I'm also grateful for Uber because it gives jobs to so many people and it allows me to study and not be stuck in a place for certain hours. Even though I don't drive the highend Uber I have subscribed literally 5 minutes ago. I know I will get some good tips and tricks regardless. you're an Uber guru lol. thank you sir, please continue to share your wisdom.

I would like to get a Chevy Suburban LTZ for UBER like you, but the cost ($65k) plus the high cost of fuel is holding me back, I am working the numbers on an used 3 yrs old Suburban. In L.A. do you have to have a "Hack" or Taxi Commercial drivers license, special city permits for your vehicle? do you have to get commercial vehicle insurance? , here in NYC, it's a challange with all the goverment regulations,(3months wait time to get licenses etc), government fees ($2k+) and commercial insurance ($4k-$5k per year).. ... Toronto here making 1K per week for 50 hours. No rush hours as I have kids and I have to drive my wife to and from work. Could easily make 1.5K per week if I could drive during those peak hours. One month in and I'm loving it. The people are fantastic, rating 4.84. I find the pool rides may drag the rating down as people are silent when others are in the car. Also some are upset after two or three and even as many as six other pick ups happen. I think I would be over 4.9 if not for UBER pool.

I am a devoted Uber operator with 3000 rides in 8 months on the
Uber X platform with a 98 % acceptance rate and a 8.45 ⭐. The past two weeks I have experienced under averaged trip rates , less than 45 cents per mile with the tip , one day I spent 65 dollars on fuel to mak 120 dollars in 12 hours the following day I spent 35 on fu l and by the time I mad 35 dollars I was out of fuel so I've learned that the cab driver strategy no longer is working Wich means I have to be particular about accepting rides and I see to many under .50 cent per mile w/tip and that's my downfall , I'm ok as long as I refuse long trips because they 90 % go to rual areas with no return trips back to populated areas. I liked Uber when I started, I accepted all trips and by the end of the day we both made good money,. My question to you sir is exactly how are the algorithms generated, what information is used and does that info come directly from the driver and what their limitations are?

Great reviews tortsen. I'm Asian Japanese and My name's Marshall, I always come to ure channel 1rst whenever I need any sort of rideshare advice, U ARE AWESOME AND DON'T PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE HATERS. URE GREAT, I'M CURRENTLY DOING UBER WITH MY 2016 Audi A7 I purchased back in 2015. I signed up for uber last December but I don't want to use my car to drive uber because I don't want some random ppl puke or damage the car; Im off on weekends and did drove it one weekend for 8 hours in daytime only because I didn't want to pick up drunk ppl, i drove only in daytime and i was surprised by how much money i made quickly driving it, but i still dont want to use it as an uber car. Most riders didnt even believe i was really doin an uber thing because they thought the car was too fancy. What advice can you give me? What move will you do if you were in my position? I only drive it when it's surge. Do you have any advice for me on how i can make more on weekend's driving without picking up unpredictable ppl, or ppl who might damage my car wit their dogs. Looking forward to a reply from you. Thanks mate.

THANK YOU FOR DESTROYING TROLLS!! I WATCHED THIS TO LEARN BEFORE I CHOOSE UBER OR LYFT (and now Amazon even), but I APLAUD YOU for telling off loser Trolls!! Excellent!! You said that you have a fleet of 6 trucks at the time of this video. Can I contact you to discuss possible joint porfit opportunities? I would be willing to pay you to get me started the RIGHT WAY. Thank you for telling these trolls mostly probably cab drivers, who have no rides scheduled and are sitting there at the airport watching hundreds of Uber drivers pull up and take off probably seen same Uber drivers picking up more than once before they get a single ride because who wants to pay outrageous $50 rates to go 5 miles? They should be swearing at their Union not at you. I'm just saying what I think we're all thinking. bye bye Yellow Cab LOL "adapt or die" quote meant metaphorically of course.
I guess my question is is it worth it to buy an SUV? And if so what would you recommend? if I were to not able to afford the Uber black at first, is there a particular car that you would recommend or a few different models because you need a lot of room and cargo space but I don't want to kill my profits buying the wrong vehicle... and Enterprise rent cars for Uber drivers I believe...
I live in Vegas. McCarran airport is in the center of the city almost more towards the West but five minutes from where I live and oddly enough you can never hear any airplanes, but I wanted to get your thoughts on perhaps renting first not really caring about my profit right off the bat as I am more concerned about gaining strong ratings period as you have said in this video I think ratings and the vehicle to make a huge difference.
I also feel the vehicles like you're ratings. I would much rather be riding and comfort in style then in a nine-year-old Durango that smells like french fries.
I think you get why I would be willing to pay for mentoring... 😅

So basically driving uber xl or uber black, you are not hit with request for uber pool riders? The propaganda put out from uber is the driver doesn't take the hit on the discounted ride for pool riders, uber does. I find that to be a absolute false hood! The driver is extended by more usage of fuel, more usage of time, and more mileage, not to mention 90% of the time these passengers aren't ready to board.
