Tazz was really popular at the time, but besides that match, I don’t recall them ever putting him over in WWE. They left him mid card for whatever reason, poor use of him until he started commentary which brought him back.

I loved that rivalry Kurt had with Mark Henry. Loved everything about it. That World Title on Smackdown had some very memorable moments for me growing up.

Kurt Angle is one of my all time fav's, he is a legitimate, world gold medalist , a living legend in wrestling entertainment and a bad ass tough guy. Tazz looks like a super sized Baby especially in that ridiculous one piece tights he wears. He doesn't even come close and will never be as good as Kurt Angle.
To be fair, ECW was pretty much done by the time Tazz came to the WWF. It's not like one-year would have made that much of a difference in the long-run. Tazz came into the WWF white-hot. Tazz looked safer and tighter than chad gable. Chad is a great athlete and very entertaining so it may be an experience thing so that control may come later.
Taz had a good mean look. He wrestled with high impact intensity. It was still an upset though...Angle is about a 3 to 1 favorite against Taz. I think wrestlers got together and killed Taz's push because they didn't personally want to lose to him. More backstage politics changing storylines

Yeah it really looked like they were giving Too Cool a huge push in 2000 during the McMahon-Helmsley regime. Teaming with Rock, Rikishi, and Cactus Jack to take on DX Shane McMahon and Big Show leading up to Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 2000. Scotty got the light Heavyweight Title of of Malenko (only held it for about a week) and they both got the tag titles and held them for a good minute. That was Too Cool. But then their it stopped. Which wasn't Too Cool. I don't know why but if I had a guess it was likely do to Sexay failing a drug test or something but I don't know.
WWE completely dropped the ball with Taz. He had so much momentum coming out of ECW, and even though he was small in stature, it never mattered in ECW when he fought guys bigger than him. He looked believable and he gave arguably the most intimidating promo in wrestling. WWE buried him for no other reason than to belittle ECW.
Nah dude, Taz was beaten up as fuck by this point. They debuted him over their top prospect on PPV. Everyone knocks it because of the Smackdown match with HHH but honestly WWE got what they could out of what was left of Taz by that point.
