To be honest, in 2017 with the new wider cars, it looked kind of odd,like you had the nose coming up then its flat then all of the sudden it's just like a 90 degree turn upwards so I feel like the halo smoothens it out and makes the car look more sleek
If anyone has an issue with it after that crash, they are just stupid. Before the halo, he would almost certainly be dead. Those barriers have claimed plenty of lives throughout the years

Porsche Carrera GT, Ferrari Enzo, Renault Clio V6, Lotus Elise Series 2, CLK DTM, Audi R10 TDI, Bentley Speed 8. And the F1 cars of that era are no exception. Although I gotta say the halo doesn’t look hideous anymore. It looks fine, however a good camera angle goes a long way at making it look even better.
I still prefer the windshield design but I think the halo dose help. Still gonna miss the look of the old cars where there was an unobstructed view of the helmet but I’m for safety
I remember seeing DC wearing one of the first HANS devices and then subsequent designs which got smaller, tidier and better fitting to the drivers' shoulders and upper chest areas - I expect to see the same sort of improvements made of the Halo. In its current guise, it's ugly and is far too big and cumbersome. As the years pass, I think the Halo will get a little smaller, a little more refined and looking like it was MEANT to be a part of an F1 car, not just an ugly afterthought of an accoutrement.

every once in a while i like to come back to this and remember how many people were bitching about the halo, when it was introduced. and now just a few years later it has already saved countless lifes including lewis hamiltons.
I think the one they tested last year was non-structural (just to see how it looked and what drivers thought of it), and so just made from carbon fibre, but the real thing was always titanium with carbon fibre wrapped around it.
Funny thing ,Max Crashtappen was crying complaining there was no space when he's the one who needed to back off and shouldn't have drove in ,he was greedy for overtake .

I think the halo is a good idea. Broken carbon fiber is dangerous stuff and this halo reduces part-helmet collisions substantially.

I just don’t understand how obscuring vision is a safety measure. Yes, a transparent dome will be far more protective, and won’t obscure vision.
