Dr. Reminds me of the older guys I worked with. Blue print school for blasting. You can tell he's honest guy. Big respect for him. Great American Dr.. his student is paying attention. Great video. Great content. Serious guy.

Amazing!! I had CMC surgery on July 22, 2022 and I'm still not completely recovered the use of my thumb, I had middle finger and thumb trigger finger releases, carpal tunnel, trapeziectomy with tendon transfer and two large bone spurs removed at the same time. It's really been rough!!

I had this CMC surgery about 3 years ago, and had full range and function in about 2 months. Hope you get better soon.

Easily the best explanation of the mechanics and decision logic leading to this choice of surgery. Is there a name for this particular variant of CMC suspension?

    7:44a, 6/28,
Thanks for this informative video. You’ve sold me on this procedure. I’m a 67 yr old pianist w cmc joint arthritis. I currently have a push brace holding my cmc joint tight against my hand, relieving much of the pain and discomfort. However, I see this brace as only buying me time before the surgery.
Now… my questions: Where are you located?
I live in Maple Grove MN, a suburb of Minneapolis. Do you know any hand surgeons in this area that you could recommend? Thanks again. I look forward to your reply!
    Rick Drake

How do I find a surgeon who does this type of surgery?

I had a cmc arthroplasty and xrays showed my basil joint was collapsed when the cast came off. I was sent through therapy and told everything looked good even though I was in severe pain. It took 9 months and contacting an ombudsmen to get more testing. Further testing revealed my thumb was collapsed and the Dr just yanked on my thumb and told me to be more aggressive with my therapy. A second opinion revealed that only collapsed the joint even more.

@@fredjustice215 When I saw Ombudsmen, I immediately thought of CCF. I am still researching options and thinking of using Dr. Haidet (Lorain/Avon). Did you ultimately switch to another doc after the second opinion?

@@davidhuller6990 Yes I was actually sent to the head of hand surgery. He fixed it as best he could.

I can find no reference in TH-cam to CMC Fusion. Is this operation obsolete for some reason?

Did you ever find anything else about this? (I'm a guitarist, I love the thumb repair, BUT, need to know what mobility of the index finger would be post op.)
