    I had this exact surgery done about a year ago and everything she is saying is spot on. I was apprehensive about having it done, but I am so glad I did!
    As soon as you wake from surgery you'll immediately notice you'll be pain free.
    To be honest, worst part of the surgery was the sore throat afterwards when trying to swallow.
    I have since fully recovered with no issues. Having the surgery was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

    I’m a month out from this surgery. Wish I would have watched this before having it done. I was so nervous to have it done, but it was literally a walk in the park. The sore throat was awful, but the surgery was nothing. I took Tylenol for pain for about 3 days and that was it. The hardest part of the whole thing is learning to relax and not overdo things. My incision is only about 3” long. To hear you say you had staples was the only thing that was different from my surgery. This is a great informative video and everything you said is spot on. Thanks for sharing this!

      I had this surgery Jan 27. The worst part was the cramped muscles from the position they put you in for surgery. Also the throat pain. It was harder than I expected. I am on day 5 and still eating cream of wheat and oatmeal. Food gets stuck. I have to wash it down with water and hard swallowing. The incision doesn't hurt. My arm nerve pain is gone. My arms feel the same weight. I still need a little meds but only 2 times a day. I must of done too much today cause It felt fine when I woke up then my arm hurt a four afters after I woke. So I went 9 hrs with out pain meds.

Degenerative arthritic changes are causing my diagnoses. I’m inspired by how well you’re doing. My doctors have said that running and doing other vigorous activity is not a good idea for me. It must feel great to be told you can continue doing things as you used to. If you have any ideas on what I can do to at least get some meaningful exercise going, I would welcome your response. I think it’s awesome that you told your kids what they can do and not just what they can’t do. You come across like a very genuine and kind person.

    I’m out of ACDF surgery, two weeks today. I watched your videos, to prepare myself, and found them to be very reassuring. I’m 70, and had right shoulder surgery, in January. Instead of the pain going away, it got a lot worse. My new complaints sounded more cervical, so my orthopedic surgeon sent me for an MRI of my neck. He glanced at it and said, “You need a neurosurgeon.” I picked Dr. Peter Shedden and am thrilled to hear that he’s your surgeon, as well.

I've talked to several friends who have had it and they all say I'll be glad I did it. But to see you and hear you a week after yours, helps tremendously! Yes, I have a great surgeon who explained it thoroughly, but it helps so much more . Just the idea of somebody cutting into my neck is scary. The information about pain and recovery and actual surgery has helped have more peace and what to expect although you are much younger and fit. I am a former runner and 64 years old. Thank you and you are a awesome athlete. Hope you are completely healed and enjoying your life!

      MetalDetroit My doctor (neurosurgeon) told me no brace unless I was in a car for the first month, and to sleep as well. In fact it wasnt even a hard brace, he told me only the soft one. This is an ongoing debate. Check facebook there are lot of support groups and this comes up a lot. I have pain flareups every month if I drive too much, that is my biggest source of flareups.

    I have had this surgery 5 days ago on one level C6-7. I felt better right after the surgery than I do now even though the original nerve pain is gone. My throat is still really sore and my shoulders and shoulder blades are incredibly painful and are cramping. Sleeping is painful. I think age and health matters since you are younger and very active. Your story is helpful but it is a best case scenario, so I am happy for you and like your positivity. I wish I felt this good! I guess everyone is different.

It's now time to get my (c5-6) level done but not because my first fusion weakened it, it was not good 13 years ago and my Neurosurgeon told me I would have to have another surgery somewhere between 10 to 15 years and he was dead on. It will be 13. Hope this helps ppl to see that it's not that bad. I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

      @NobleAuditore 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dfy hey there! I’m doing so much better since having the surgery! We’re still not entirely sure what caused the disc prolapses (I had 3). The surgeon said I may have just had weak ones from birth and they eroded over time. My C5-C6 was so damaged it was bashing up against the nerves in my spine and causing some serious nerve pain in my arm and in the shoulder area and neck. Most of that completely went away post surgery. Due to the nerve damage a lot of my right arm is still numb in places, but I got used to it and it doesn’t bother me much anymore. The surgery itself went really well and I definitely recommend taking it.
