Glad you’re back on TH-cam! PS: I think I’m gonna get an action 5, as a companion to my pocket 3. Pocket 3 I’m definitely going to turn off face tracking when vlogging. Interesting tip. Good to see you back, I’ve been quiet myself, mainly due to building a new house here in Vietnam but that is finished now. For me having both the OA5 and pocket 3 just makes sense as you can shoot video regardless of the conditions.

Nice comparison vid. Im still destined to buy an action 5 from dji ❤
Hello, it's not technically straight out of cam. I did make some adjustments which I noted on the video. DJI Action 5 Pro certainly showed its abilities and is much easier to operate for those who don't want to worry about a gimbal!
I'm considering getting a dji camera for vogging and TH-cam face facing videos. I'm going to get the action 5 because I hope to use it outside on holidays too. But I've started to like the idea of doing some interview style scenes in some videos (2 people) using the dji mic 2 for 2x person audio support. But I'm going to need a 2nd camera for that. 1 camera per person's face seems weird getting two action 5s. Do u think having 1 of each, pocket 3 and action 5 being used for filming in one interview would offer good consistency in footage? Does pocket 3 have blur? I would love both, but want to make sure having both and using them for serperate scenarios as well as in 1 scenario like an interview would be complementary. Or get two action 5s. Would you share your thoughts based on your footage and use of the camera? Thx!
You can certainly color match the two. And the Pocket 3 will give you some blur (bokeh). So, there wouldn't be consistency. However, If I were you...I still would get the Pocket 3 and Action 5 rather than get 2 Action 5.
OK so first you made me super hungry, thanks! LOL. So are you plugging that lavalier mic into the DJI Mic 2? If so what is it? Do you just plug it into the 3.5 mm? I am actually pretty impressed with the A5 in this video.
After watching some others videos I was starting to think the 5pro looked a little un natural for vlogging being wide angle but after watching yours I now think it looks great. Seems to be a good all round camera
I have the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and the video is just so much more cleaner than any DJI Osmo Action series DJI has released, thanks to the large 1' sensor found in the Pocket 3, user experience. Plus gimbal stabilization that comes with the Pocket 3 doesn't struggle in low light compared with the electronic stabilization. Also have the DJI Osmo Action 4 and don't see the need to upgrade because they didn't upgrade the sensor size to 1' like most people were expecting DJI to. The Action series do have waterproofing though which is good for water slide videos.
I now have the pocket 3 and action 4 and took both on our fam vacation this summer. I find it very easy to use the action 4 than the pocket 3. I'm not into the manual settings and just auto mode and i prefer the action 4. Shooting vertical and horizontal videos also easy than with Pocket 3. Pocket 3 is bit fragile for me when i have to take it out of my bag, making sure the cam is centered, having to control the gimbal. Shooting videos at night though is when the P3 becomes a better camera.
Great usage reasons for each camera. They certainly are better as a combination if you are fortunate to have both. I think they compliment each other well for sure!
Thank you for your kind words. The DJI Action 5 Pro records only in MP4 format using the HEVC (H.265) codec. I suppose you could use a video converter to change it to MOV.

The Osmo Pocket 3 does not disappoint at night when recording, only that when you use it on a chest mount or backpack, the gimbal moves where it wants, sometimes it films too low, only records the feet or sometimes it runs from side to side for no reason apparent.

Hello, thank you for the feedback! Your question is a tough one, but I would think given the right lighting situations, the A5P could look cinematic! Oh and like the picture profile, Gandolfini was amazing!
Very interesting, I have a question for you, was the Action 5 on the tripod that comes with the combo or did you use another one? I found the camera distance ideal for vlogging. The Osmo Pocket 3 is incredible, but since it blurs the background (which is also a great thing) it ends up only making the character in front very visible, and I think it's very interesting for the viewer to see what's happening behind you as you walk. And the DJI 5 tries to keep everything in focus, making it possible to even pause a scene and zoom in to see something that was in the background (at the same time it's tiring to see the whole screen in focus). But I like it for videos of exploring new cities... Is it possible to remove the background blur when taking a selfie video with the Osmo Pocket 3?
Yes, I was using the selfie stick that comes with the Action. Great points on advantages and disadvantages. Unfortunately, the Pocket 3 is a set aperture and is not able to take out the bokeh background.
Both cameras are at 4K 60, but if I had them set at 4K 24 frames then it would seem like it was going faster as well. But in this case both of them were set with the same settings in that regard.
Hello, you are unable to directly apply a DJI Lut on the device while recording. The new Action 5 Pro does have a feature where you are able to record in Log and see an option see what the recording will look like if you had a Lut applied. But, will still need to go in post-production to apply it. I have the Lut in my description below. There are plenty of TH-cam videos that explain how to apply a Lut to your particular software. I use FCP. I hope this helps you.
I would love to see you do this same comparison in low light and or inside. Your insights are valuable. You’re the best! Edited to add: In low light would you have shifted the shutter from auto?
Yeah, for sure! Thank you for your kind words! Regarding your question, In low light, I likely would have kept it at a static 4x the shutter speed from the frame rate. But should do a auto comparison too.

You keep doing these and you'll be the Casey Neistat of Korea! Both look good, but I think I can see the Pocket 3 has a bit more dynamic range. You may want to check to make sure beauty mode wasn't engaged on the Pocket 3 though. It looks like it's trying to smooth you out or something. I've never seen it do that, even in Normal Colors. Might have just been the way it was trying to handle exposing for your face and the sky.
😂, Hey Tim....yeah, I'm not sure why was going on with how it was exposing my face. I've never used Beauty mode (besides it has to be done through the DJI app). Nevertheless, it was fun to do!
Here the Pocket 3 is about 180 USD overpriced imo, but when it drops in price I'll grab one because the convenience and image quality seems unbeaten atm.
Man I really wish the Pocket 3 would have been in D-Log M for this comparison. The Normal profile might expose the face better but it definitely overprocesses the image.
Yeah, I agree! I have done a Comparison with the Pocket 3 in a past video comparing the D-Log M with the Normal Color Profile. Here is a link of it: th-cam.com/video/UTR7dYqLlC0/w-d-xo.html
Yeah, but to be fair....the Action 5 isn't meant to look like a mirrorless. But, for the small compact size, it's still impressive! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
I wish I could link it, but I did a cruise video and vlogged at Buccees in Florence, SC on the way back and there were so many people staring that I put an arrow and dinged them all!
😂, yeah...the combination of vlogging and speaking English probably did it! It's not as popular to vlog I suppose. I rarely see it and I live in Seoul!
It's blow for blow. Half the time the action wins and half the time the pocket 3 wins. Leave them alone overnight with some soft, romantic music and a nice fire and see if they have a baby by the morning.

Hello, you can find the settings at 1:14 into the video! Hope that helps!
@@TravelingAhn thank you. I just have the issue that my footage by taking a photo doesn’t look so good. It looks kinda blurry. Do you have any tips for me? 🥲
@@TravelingAhnbtw nice video and beautiful place. Where‘s is this place?
@@yourstruly_1338 It's in a city called Incheon in South Korea.
@@yourstruly_1338 The only other thing I can think of is ensure the camera is on a firm foundation and possibly using a tripod/selfie stick stand.
White jjajangmyun!!!! 😋😋
You have to take the family sometime! It won me over 👏
On those settings, the Action 5 Pro exposes your face much better. The Pocket 3 looks like you're wearing a face full of make-up and it overexposes.
Yeah, Pocket 3 on Normal Color Profile didn't perform as well as I had hoped. But D-Log M on Pocket 3 would have been much better.
@@TravelingAhn bro, looks like you had glamour mode on
I was going to say the same. Pocket 3 makes your face look fake like you have beauty filter on or something
I’ve heard a few TH-camrs speak on having to under expose the pocket 3 a bit to compensate for that.
Seriously, me too 😂....but the exposure was acting up
i like pro 3 mind you pro 5 is good too but i like face on pro3 is very good i use pro 3 on auto 4k/60 as i dont have to change the exposure as i do on my sony A7R iv i see it is easier to change the exposure but not on pro 3 easy to handel on austo and get good result for youtube
For sure, I agree! I recorded Pocket 3 in Normal Color profile because the exposure on the face is better when compared to D-Log M.
What's the "pro 3?" 🫨
@@ericd1084 They meant to say Pocket 3 😄
thanks!
You are very welcome 🙏
Wish the "run and gun" was in full auto for both cameras.
Hi Justin, I'll post some comparisons with the Action 5 full auto vs. D-Log M soon.
@@TravelingAhn Not going to lie, I turned it on once. 😂😂😂
@@TimBrownTown 😂...once I heard you had to use the Mimo App and then offload it from there, the barrier to entry was too wide a chasm 😂
@@TravelingAhn I didn't know that. I just turned it on to preview it. Definitely not for me! Lol.
😂
Here the Pocket 3 is about 180 USD overpriced imo, but when it drops in price I'll grab one because the convenience and image quality seems unbeaten atm.
Yeah, the Pocket 3 is quite a versatile camera. IMO, I feel like for all the features, the price isn't too high when compared to its competitors.
Nice video
Thank you for commenting!
The Pocket 3 also has a OLED Screen
Astute point there my friend! You are absolutely right!
인천 차이나타운이네요 ㅎㅎ 잘봤습니다
감사합니다
Which camera do you prefer vlogging with Dji Action 5 or Dji Pocket 3?
The Action 5 is so convenient, but if push comes to shove, Pocket 3!
@@TravelingAhn you didn't answer the question
@@TravelingAhn what's wrong with you reviewers.. no capacity to answer anything clearly and concisely
@@EamonMcMullan7 I don't understand, I just answered your question very clearly. So sorry, but i'm not sure what you are getting at?
@@EamonMcMullan7 Again, not sure what you mean by this?
I find that Action 5 has very low contrast
Yeah, you may be right. But, for the form factor of an action camera...it still is pretty impressive even though we may not get 3D pop 😂
action 5 is no match to the pocket 3 😊
Yeah, I agree. But I have to say the Action 5 did a pretty good job especially in light of not being on a gimbal!
West
🤔
The P3 destroys the Action5. The Action5 is much, much, much too bright and cloudy. Faces look muddy and colors rather colorless. What a pity......
Yeah, but to be fair....the Action 5 isn't meant to look like a mirrorless. But, for the small compact size, it's still impressive! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
6:00 Old man looked at you like you have two heads. I take it vlogging isnt popular in Seoul?
I wish I could link it, but I did a cruise video and vlogged at Buccees in Florence, SC on the way back and there were so many people staring that I put an arrow and dinged them all!
😂, yeah...the combination of vlogging and speaking English probably did it! It's not as popular to vlog I suppose. I rarely see it and I live in Seoul!
😂, Hey Tim....yeah, I think people are just surprised that some others are so bold to vlog!!!
Jackie, long time you did not appear on my wall. Sample low light comparison
Hello Jackie....thanks for the comment!
It's blow for blow. Half the time the action wins and half the time the pocket 3 wins.
Leave them alone overnight with some soft, romantic music and a nice fire and see if they have a baby by the morning.
😂, that was too funny! Yeah, I think the compliment each other well!
Some spots looked similar but I felt most of the time and your face looked better on the pocket. Would only use the Action 5 if it was rainy.
That's a fair assessment, depending on where you live...Action 5 may be the way to go!
