In Mexico, the privatization began in 1995 and ended in 2001. The main arguments: shortage of public money for the maintenance and modernization of the entire railway system and the need to promote competition and abolish the state monopoly.
Several Mexican companies were created but were later absorbed by foreign companies, reducing the number of "competing companies", moving from the state monopoly to the private and foreign oligopoly.
In the unfortunate case of Mexico, the railway system was sold at a very cheap price, and the little money raised was distributed among corrupt legislators who approved the privatization.
    I wish India better luck.

That's very sad for Mexico. As far as your worry is concerned, even we Indian were worried, but government has made it clear that it will be only 5percent privatization of Indian railway so it is not completly sold out to private operator.

Sir kindly look at the following points-
Railways is not a loss making entity. Its operationg ratio has for most of its time been below 100. you should have included this fact in the video.
Secondly, railways has always been operated as a social service vehicle. It has not been given fair chance to generate more revenue. By raising the price of tickets as is being done by private entities( eg. tejas & vande bharat), even Indian railways could have earned profit.
Thirdly, when privatised the ownership of railways will get limited to the shareholders, while presently even a beggar has ownership rights to it.

    • @kevinsalmador739
      @kevinsalmador739 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Sir, explain what is the definition of loss if not this
How exactly is it social service network, when even general ticket is of 60-80 rs
Please explain how a beggar has ownership right, even i a middle class, can't claim my ownership
      www.google.com/amp/s/www.thehindu.com/data/indian-railways-efficiency-dropped-to-its-lowest-in-10-years-in-2017-18/article30162086.ece/amp/
In current position, the railway is so far in profit from passenger railway especially, that increasing the price for everyone by 50-100 will not provide solution, plus this will again be a point of critize why everyone will have to incurr the raised fare
Better some people who can afford the private train price, will be contributing more and others like me will be relaxed
Just check the fact how the free ir highly subsidised ticket to senior citizen is making a huge burden, even when some people can afford !

There is a lot of difference between a private company hiring staffs and Government hiring staffs.
When Government hires staffs, there are a lot of calculations involved. Depending on your duration of service, public money is "earmarked" for the staff, Whether the enterprise is in profit or loss. Whose money is that money?
That is Public Money, our money, money we pay as taxes, on food, fuel, salt, water, clothes, rent, communication, travel and what not, ofcourse our income.
Railway, is essentially a service, and to sustain a service, it must be profitable. Companies are efficient in providing services, and profitablity(you know service extracted per rupee from the staffs).
Though, we are emotional with the railway, I'm the end of the day, it is just a Technology for transporting goods and people form one place to another. When new and efficient methods arise, it will have to go and fade.
Regarding Government Jobs, it is good that if we get one, we will be good and have a happy life (that is our angle) but (from the angle of the country or an ordinary citizen) non performing staffs are a burden.
Wouldn't it be better if we have administrators in the Government than clerks and technicians?
Why we have Ministers who do not even qualify for peon? And what is the need for so many Ministers in the Cabinet when we need technical expertise to run major ministries like water, power, transportation etc. FiRE MINISTERS and CATCH MPS(they are the actual ones whom we choose to bring all the services for the constituency, a 24x7 job where he needs to be pestered for each and every thing in the constituency , literally a thorn in the ass job) .
Apart from essential services, which are vital for keeping the order, like connecting remote communities, Small towns, etc, is there any scope for the Government to run such services?

1)Isn't this true that all the developed countries like France, Germany etc who had privatised the railway had too reverse their decision?
    2) as private firms are profit oriented increase in ticket price is inevitable
    3) how can u say that sir if have to trust the govt ..even after steps like demonisation? Also, BJP was always against privatisation and increase in fare and prices of essential commodities and for this very reason they were voted for in 2014. So can they justify privitsation?

Pvtization will increase jobs no doubt bt per capita income will decrease ..now a middle class person who was once enjoying a meal in a five star hotel once a month will fail to enter into the hotel for years ,Bcoz of low income and high cost of daily needs ... While minister will get loads of black money from private company and will hide in Swiss banks... Only corporate and those ministers higher up the ladder will benefit ... A middle class person will only have a dream to travel and enjoy in years .... As a result chaos will be there all over the country and with no labour unions functional ...labour laws will be flouted and inhumane working hours will lead to mental and psychology problems in future

Very nicely described. But law making should be efficient and effective for majority of low income category people in our country. As we know how much their share in our per capital income. Bcoz base of an economy depends on its transportation system, As it should be accessible for all. Not like that in the medical sector in our country, where very few can afford in private hospitals. This sector also needs a big reform in law making & it's implementation. Thank you.

Privatisation in few sectors is good but when profitable PSUs are privatized there comes the issue. Also PSU must be owned by GOI and strategies must be changed to make PSU more profitable.
Profitable PSUs : ONGC, BHEL, SBI, NMDC, ISRO, NTPC, etc when government can directly control PSUs and obtain profits privatisation is really bad idea...

Sir, the problem is government is actually incompetent to do sny management.. I agree that officers are very much competent and they can make better decisions over the ministers who are not even educated enough.. But who gets the chance? Government can give loans to the people who have power to go abroad and reside there but can't give loans to lower and middle class people and they talk about economic reforms.. Government can have better administration to other establishments like isro, drdo, barc then why they are unable to maintain railways?
